In the United States, the Vice President is a member of the legislature and President of the Senate even though a person elected to that office rides on the victory of a popular presidential candidate. A vice president in the United States is only there to prevent the President from being removed by the Senate even if he is impeached by Congress by influencing senators as the leader of the Senate.

In Nigeria where there is the notorious absence of strong systems in governance, the scary presence of powerful political figures and a lacuna in the grundnorm regarding the powers of deputy executive representatives, a quality assistant to the President can change little or nothing in governance.
