It doesn't add up as sane economic policy. Though I would give CBN props for taming those BDCs from arbitrarily determining the exchange rate, as was done in the past.

Drivel.
Explain why Oniru & Elegushi beaches are not affected since all 3 lie on the same axis?

Waiting...
Kindly read my opening post for this thread.
I clearly mentioned that estates running all the way down to Awoyaya will be affected (as of over a decade when I closely paid attention to the issue).
I know how many clients I advised against buying lands along that corridor, unless it was within the recommended setback of 20m or was it 30m from the proposed Expressway.

Also, I can't authoritatively say where the Expressway will connect to...i guess LASG will leverage for it to connect the existing Lekki-Epe toll gate at Oriental hotel or perhaps somewhere further into V.I (Sanusi Fafunwa) which is highly unlikely. Remember BAT is still cashing out on that toll gate till your unborn children.

It is only Landmark that made it a social media issue. Got to lands department and verify. Many coastal properties are on that right of way. They're just being quiet about their woes...or looking for "mugu" that will rush to buy "distress sale" as they call it nowadays.

Witch hunt.
Anything Igbo triggers LASG.

Their pain is that an Igbo man came to teach their Oniru & Elegushi families how to run a successful beach/resort without noise but finesse.
Please can you back up your claims with facts, and not just sentiments?
I'm full blooded igbo too...but until I see C of O, Govt consent, Ministry of defense naval approval e.t.c; I would maintain that it isn't a witch hunt.

He probably bought the Land through Families and Omoniles. As you can see, Oniru family wasn't even the legitimate custodian of the land when you consider the Lagos Master plan. There are so many other families in Lagos doing this, with other dubious tricks you may not be aware of.
So Oniru family probably sold it to someone eager to make his/her real estate mark in Lagos for reasons best known to them. Even I, am guilty of this. But when my eyes opened I became wary of Lagos lands.
PropertiesLandmark Demolition: Witchhunt Or Due Process by thelegend1(op): 9:27pm On Apr 06, 2024
As you may be aware, the Lagos State Government recently served the proprietor Mr. Onwunaibe a notice of demolition of the Landmark Beach for obstruction of the RIGHT OF WAY (ROW) for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal road.
Given the tribal sentiments that have been floating around due to ongoing demolitions in various parts of Lagos...I would want to share my opinion and position on the situation.

As far back as 2008 when I did my NYSC and CDS at Victoria Island, Muri Okunola LGA to be precise, I've heard and known about this coastal road and it's inherent ROW.
In fact me and my guys were the ones that started Oniru beach party every month end after our allowee was paid. We were the main group of guys that started going to the beach when it was a barren piece of land; we also engaged the Oniru family on the plans we had to gather our fellow corpers there for a get together every month end. This was what made the beach eventually popular...those who served in V.I during 2007-2009 can fact check this claim.
I also remember driving from my base back then in Ajah along the beach route (rugged road though) all the way to Oniru, then burst out at Sanusi Fafunwa and onward to Muri Okunola for CDS. This was when construction of the Lekki-epe expressway was still ongoing.

As a mere corper who had a flair for estate development back then, I was aware of this coastal road and even most of the estate lands that it impacted, all the way down to Awoyaya axis.

I'm Igbo, so this is not a knock to Mr. Onwunaibe or to play a trump card over one tribe and the other. But I believe He must or should have done his due diligence on the land before investing heavily on the development. Also, LASG officials are highly complicit in this matter. A survey must have been carried out, and approvals given up to State govt and Defence ministry levels (given it is coastal development linking the Atlantic Ocean, same thing applied to one multi level residential development at Adeniji Adele before you climb 3rd mainland bridge).

Knowing all these...why was approval given? Why was investment committed to knowing the inherent risks?
Was it a result of bribery, ignorance of the development masterplan?

Please do your due diligence before building even a village hut in Lagos.

Ike road was so deadly those years.

My girl told me about how they used to run almost everyday in Ike road and they saw a lot of dead bodies.
Back then, a lot of students used to live in okigwe unlike nowadays.
Ike road and others were habouring a lot of them.
I heard that that 3 or 4 storey building at the downside of Ike road was occupied by mostly cultists and they used to attract HITS. The landlord chased all of them away and had to give the building to Army. They helped in sanitizing the place and its environ. They now call the building 'Army Lodge'.

I did my I.T in Okigwe in 2012-2013. I lived in Agiriga road with my elder sis. I heard about scores then including some few beheadings.
We had neighbors that were MEN. Any small problem in school, they would all come to that lodge to hide. More than 10 guys would be sleeping in a room and they would always wanted the gate to be closed in order to know who was coming in. Men were living in fear but the Jews would be going about without fear
Vatican quarters. That's exactly where the incident occurred.

MISTAKEN IDENTITY/GUNSMOKE

There was a time Maph and I think Vikings had serious problems (not too sure, this several decades ago). And the thing with Cultism is that something trivial would cause an all out war and endanger people who have nothing to do with it.
I am a night owl/crawler even till this day. I've broken my ankle running blindly in the dark, in the treacherous uneven terrain of ABSU when I heard a friend of mine was under attack. Only to arrive at the scene with a broken leg, the lady was okay and it was a partial false alarm...as the boys had already left and didn't cause much of a fuss.

Fast forward a few months after my leg had healed. Was bored at night where I stayed in Okpara rd, Okigwe town and decided to stroll out to my friends house on the adjacent street about 400 meters away.
Before I continue, there's a warning a very good friend of mine gave me back then..."IF YOU SCHOOL IN ABSU, BUT RESIDE IN OKIGWE TOWN; AVOID ANY ROAD THAT HAS 'K' IN IT'S NAME. K MEANS KILLING. How right he was, Okpara rd, Ike rd e.t.c all were problematic those days.

So there's an apiam way that connects my street to the adjacent street where my friends stay. I got to the house and met some ladies, gist and general student fun that night. We were playing music, truth or dare, enjoying ourselves...when there was a knock on the door around 10 or 11pm (back then, this was late for Okigwe/ABSU).

Friend: who's there?
Stranger: I'm looking for Joy
Puzzled, we looked at the ladies, because no one bears that name.
Friend: kindly check the apartments upstairs. There's no one by that name here.
Stranger: I'm hearing her voice. Open the door (he begins to knock aggressively)
Suspicious, my friend goes to the visitor toilet to peep who was at the door with such moral. WHATEVER HE SAW MADE HIS BLOOD FREEZE AND SET HIM ON SURVIVAL MODE.
I was still in my quite corner minding my biz when I saw him from the corner of my eye dashing with speed for the kitchen backdoor.
The other 2 guys who stayed there waited for no explanation and took off immediately behind...they jumped an 8 foot fence in a single bound without their legs touching the fence!
As It was me and the 2 ladies who got the memo late, they exited the room before me and headed to the backdoor like the others.
I was the last out of the room (when I saw the guys jumping fence like professional high jumpers) and headed into the hallway leading to the back. Pls note it is a straight hallway connecting both the front door and back door. As I stepped into the hallway that was a funnel of fire, the gunshots began to hit the door.
Other than God that made sure the door was those olden days red looking, sturdy, thick, Mahogany doors instead of the HDF/MDF cartons we call doors nowadays...the story would have been different.
Thank God none of the shrapnel went directly through into the hallway. Got to the fence and was about to make my escape when I started hearing "pls help me".
The two girls I just met that night couldn't make it over the fence. Looking at frightened human beings eye will do things to you.
At that moment, I paused right on top the fence while sitting my butt and pressing my palms on the glasses that lined the top (instead of barbed wire, back then people used broken bottles)...then surprisingly don't know where I got the strength to pull a lady that weighed more than me over the fence.
Was about to grab the 2nd lady when I heard the door collapse and Men were about to rush in. Looked her square in the eyes and said "Sorry" then rolled off the fence to the other side.
The lady I pulled over was about to start running when I dragged her back, covered her mouth, and made sure we lay still in the bushes...in case one of the intruders climbed the fence and decided to do a "spray & pray" in shrubs.
Lying there we could only hear the other lady's cries, slaps, begs, the intruders asking where are the boys? Then taking her away.
Me and the girl crawled to a neighboring indigenes house and hid for a few minutes. When I heard commotion in their house regarding the shooting that occurred, I told her we have to leave immediately before we're discovered and ratted out.
We got to the road and she want to run out of panic. Told her to control herself, put my arm round her shoulder as if we we're a couple taking a late night stroll...BAREFOOT WITH INJURIES NOW THAT I REMEMBER.
Saw one of my very good friends who gave us shelter at his girlfriend's place further up the street till early in the morning.
By 6:30am I followed the apiam way back to my house...lo and behold, there was a dead boy lying in the grass few feet off the street. Only then did I realize I was the only one on that street.
I got back home looking like a refugee and my neighbor was so scared of me because of my looks and he knew that a HIT was pulled the night before.

Around 12noon I decided I'll be safer in campus environment and disembarked my apartment in town. When I got to my previous hostel, people were looking at me one kind. Only to realize the girl I pulled over the fence stayed there and had told most of our acquaintances what happened.
I left and went to my faculty since hostel done cast. While there I was asking about my friends that owned the apartment...only to be told they were arrested by police when they went back to assess their place in the morning.
So it turned out the girl that was taken was also in the police cell...and it was Policemen in mufti that came armed to the tooth that night.
You almost killed people's children and still made them pay N50k each for release.
The police guys excuse was that someone was killed barely 2 blocks away and we were the only ones making noise in the vicinity.

Shun cultism...the world is dangerous enough. Don't add coal to your head.

The end.

MAN OVERBOARD

I remember some guy that we used to travel down to school on few occasions.
Back then ABC park and Young Shall Grow park was where many people made friends, acquaintances...and I daresay, met their wives.
I used to travel a lot during my undergraduate years as I go round the country for my side hustle. Kai, Nigeria 🇳🇬 roads were relatively safe, and was a tourism opportunity as well.

This guy, let's call him "Obinna" (not real name) was handsome, reserved, well-built that his chest was quite intimidating for his age.
He also was an only child of his parents, so he never lacked for nothing. Sometime in his last Semester as a fresher, he started gumming body with another acquaintance of mine. The gum body was damn too much and i also didn't see the mutual connection or interest with that particular acquaintance since they come from very different backgrounds. Obinna was a core Festac boy, while the other dude was the Aba version of the WWE Undertaker (I kid you not!). As soft spoken as this Aba dude was, I personally felt uneasy with his aura.
I mean, he'd walk into Obinna hostel room and whatever gist Obinna had going on would end before you blink. Then they'll codedly excuse themselves and you won't see Obinna for hours or the next day.

My curiosity got the better of me and I did some digging. Found out Obinna was well on his way to becoming a 22-man. Note that their initiation process takes like 6 months of OT before final rites and induction. Not too sure of the time frame, but let me put it in perspective for your understanding. An axeman can meet you and toast you by 4th July and by 7th of July, you've become one of them...this is not so for 22; back in those days, you and your double man must go and do everything together AT ALL TIMES!

So Obinna drifted from his initial group of friends and acquaintances, and moved in with the Undertaker lookalike dude.
Fast forward to the following academic year and Obinna suddenly dropped out of the face earth without notification or warning. His parents came to school and searched, made enquiries about him with no result...it was heartbreaking to see his folks not knowing who or where to ask for their only child.

Pls note, there is no secret in any cult...it's just that the info hasn't been shared with you. Back in those days at Upgate where all the drinking joints were, the gossip and trade information with both friend and foe, with just few change and bottles of beer! So if you join a cult and want to do trade craft that nobody knows me, you dey deceive yourself!!! Your own man will point you out to your fellows and in some cases, other cult members.

That said, the gist of Obinna must surely drop nah. Do fast forward few months down the line, it was said that Obinna died at the initiation ground and was buried in one of the numerous forests in the area. The exact cause of death was speculated. Some said because of his physical build, aggressive hazing was done on him which he couldn't endure. Others said it was as a result of poisonous snake or scorpion, and no anti-venom was on ground (As if them dey carry first aid box go bush).
Meanwhile, Undertaker dude disappeared from school too.

Shun cultism!!! If you survive initiation ground of 2x4, cassava sticks or the blunt side of a cutlass...you will not survive an igneous rock strike to the head, the sharp side of a cutlass (for some mentally depraved minds that relish that kind of wetwork) nor a point blank shot to head by rivals hell bent on counting scores as we all saw on the video yesterday.

At the point of death, you're bleeding out...not enough oxygen and glucose is supplied to the organs hence body go weak. The brain doesn't understand the break in transmission, so it pumps more blood which only leaks to the soil.
Then the brain starts to shutdown due to lack of oxygen and electrolytes. At this point is when your mind and soul takeover your affairs on Earth.
If you by some miracle come back from a near death experience, you'll be forever changed.

Flee this evil of untimely death. I look at the guy from yesterday and think...
- How many boardrooms has he sat in and commanded billions to change the lives of people in the community?
- Did he experience the joy of looking into his son or daughter's eyes for the first time?
- Could he have been the next Governor of his State?

The 4 to 6 yrs in University may seem long when you start. But commence your career in the real world and see how 10yrs will fly overnight.

22 vs Aiye
Towards my finals in BSC, I had this colleague named Terror (Aiye) who had two elder brothers who were 22 men...i can't remember the eldest one's name, but the 2nd born was called Baron; but we were all in the same faculty.

A HIT was declared by Axemen on Terror's Eldest brother as he was the No. 1 then. Baron was also fair game if seen. Whilst writing final papers, about 3 or 4 guys calmly strolled into the class with Pump action and English.
Their target probably had a premonition a hit would be pulled that day, so he sat near a window in the middle of class...mind you, the windows have reinforced iron burglary. As a girl screamed seeing the guys with guns entering the exam hall, he quickly jumped upon the desk and with two solid kicks, the burglary had pushed out from the window and he fled as the shots began to ring out.
The faculty was in total pandemonium after those gunshots. Lucky for him, the building wasn't surrounded by Axeman. His brother Baron, did not even bother writing his final exams that day.
Unfortunately foe Terror, I saw him 2 days after the HIT...he looked like person trailer jam. Broken bones left, right and centre.

Apparently their was a rumor he warned his brother about the impending attack. So his fellow Axemen drilled him beyond recognition (dude had to wear Sunshades for 3 months for the damage done to his face to heal).

I ran into these same 3 brothers a little over 10yrs ago when I had a project to do for a church...all of them were Pastor's assistants then. I guess they should be Pastors by now.

I just remembered how they terrorized ABSU and it's environs back then. Shook them and left, haven't seen or heard from any ever since; but I guess they're doing well because they're all quite intelligent guys.

Now if you followed them and did game, then fell by the wayside...OYO for you as they've carried on with their lives.

Since my Alma mater ABSU is in the news for the wrong reasons, I'll share some random stories of personal experiences.

Fair warning...SHUN CULTISM!!! As glamorous and exciting as it may appear, who no go...no know.

I entered Absu about 25yrs ago. Beautiful school with enough Cashews to feed the entire student population. As Beautiful as the school and it's neighboring settlements of Upgate, Uturu village, Okigwe town e.t.c are, it has been a burial ground for many young men.

I was in Engineering and Environmental faculty. Once you're collecting your Course form, the next thing that follows is your Cult form. Resisting those toasters, intimidates and deceivers was a challenge.

EXPERIENCES
BUCCANEERS: Fine boys as they call them...but wait make them drill you and you'll realize looks are deceiving.
I remember on time I went to my guys house (quite massive for a student).
Me: Bro, only you in this big place? Na wa ooo. Hope the neighborhood is secure.
Alora: Very secure. I already got Intel that you're coming when you were 2 streets away.
Me: I hear you...James Bond.

I said let me sit on the floor near a radio deck and play music. I noticed that that radio deck was faulty and something was fishy about the wall I was resting.
See the way Alora flinched and said I should drop the radio and not bother trying to fix it?
Me: why...wetin spoil for inside?
He proceeds to bring out a fully loaded revolver with extra bullets from the radio. The wall behind was hollow and stored a pump action shotgun!
Alora: bro, you've seen enough. Na because you be my blood.
This was the first time I held a gun and understood all its workings.

Another time, I went to see another bunch of colleagues at another location. I had just come into town and the building was unusually quiet and somber.
Make I drop my traveling bag first relax, before I climb upstairs.
I noticed the indigenous residents were looking at me funny. One of my colleagues came downstairs to check who was sitting outside.
Alora: Bro, welcome back. How your side?
Me: Cool. Why area quiet like this and your face come rumpled?
BAN: That place wey you siddon so, Ekelebe bust crib yesterday line boys wey no discharge on time for outside. As police they parade us so, one boy take off and Swahili (R.I.P Another BAN) been wan hold am make e no run. Na so police shoot am for chest as he was stretching his hand to stop the escapee (meanwhile I heard the guy was a Viking).

I was in this same location like 2yrs later and police came to raid and planted weed and all manner of incriminating stuff. Pls note they do this regularly across student house in town, na their market be that.
I slept in cell even though I was very sick at pickup time. In cell, Vikings, Aiye, 22, BAN, Maph are all one; no fighting or arguing in there (it was surprising to see). Even the head 22 in the cell showed genuine concern about my health.
