fulanimafia: The Nigerian military has scrapped its joint military task force in the restive Niger Delta. The task force, nicknamed Operation Pulo Shield, is to be replaced with “Operation Delta Safe”, the director of defense information, said in a statement.
He said the new operation would be carried out under three sub-bases located in Ondo, Akwa Ibom and the entire Niger Delta. General Rabe’s statement reads:
“The OPERATION PULO SHIELD in Niger Delta has been scrapped with immediate effect and replaced with OPERATION DELTA SAFE. This is in line with the Defence Headquarters initiative to restructure the Joint Task Force for better service delivery, efficiency and effectiveness in line with the vision and mission of the Chief of Defence Staff to contain the current security challenges in the Niger Delta especially protection of critical national assets and provision of security in the area.
“Under this arrangement, the Joint Operational Areas of the new outfit have been delineated into 3 sectors and 5 Operational Bases covering the entire Niger Delta, Ondo and Akwa Ibom States. The Headquarters of OPERATION DELTA SAFE would be in Yenagoa. “This development, according to Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, becomes expedient in order to inject new tactics and robust operational initiative to tackle the emerging security challenges in the Niger Delta region such as piracy, bunkering, vandalism and other criminalities prevalent in the area.”
thesicilian: Its only people who have poverty mentality that behave like this. I've seen people with G-wagons and Range Rovers stopping to pick up neighbours in the rain, not minding the mud stains on their car rugs and seats
People with g-wagon and Range having neighbours without even camry. Well na so
MrDojo: Good day everyone, who else among the guys here on NL has experienced this..?!
For the past 6yrs that I've been on the dating scene, I've experienced a lot of misses rather than hits in my dating game, this is not due to the fact I lacked the looks, charm, smarts etc. I noticed a scenario that always repeated itself, which was when ever I approached a girl, we would click instantly, she would flash all the green lights flashable, we would have a lot in common & get along really well, then whenever I finally ask her for us to be "exculsive".... The horror film begins...
They never tell me No or a yes.. I'm not friendzoned neither am I in the dating zone, I more than a friend to her but less than a BF, when I ask them why they can't give me an answer, they give all manner of reasons such as; you are too good for me, I like you a lot but I don't love, let's be more than friends but I can't date you ( WTF ), I don't know what I feel towards you...let's keep what we have....and blah blah blah...
Most times I give them time to sort out their feelings coming back again to ask hoping to get a good answer but their emotions are still in a state of flux.. I'll give up and move on ( when I move on I move on totally no looking back ), only for this ladies who seemly had nothing for me to come back (vengeful) when they see me hooking up with another chick, then they start all manner of theatrics....then I begin to wonder is it not the same girl who had "Nothing" for me...
This scenario as played out more than 5 times with me... I'll like to know if other guys here have experienced this or are also experiencing this....
Sorry for the long essay..
You are act timidly. You keep asking for their words when they have given you the green light.
I believe it is because it is readily available:all those 4 storeys everywhere some are empty a day these days, folks are returning to their village to build serious duplex and commute to Onitsha and Akwa for business.... This is the teen in my village which is just 150naira to Onitsha
The average igbo man invest his excess profit in housing unlike Calabar where enjoyment is the order of the day
Baroba: You can say it a again, I just helped my brother rent a One bedroom " apartment" in Trans Ekulu Enugu.. Breakdown, one year rent 150,000, agency fee 30,000, Legal fee 40,000, caution fee 20,000..
This is a state were most of its inhabitants are civil servants and students.. Shocking
I once lived in a one bedroom apartment in Calabar outskirts :Scanobo. My yearly rent was 220k... Excluding everything you mentioned.
Rapmoney: As a property manager and one who has visited many Nigerian cities, I did a research/survey and came out with the result of the top 5 cities in Nigeria where one would need to belt himself/herself very well before renting an apartment! This survey was carried out with the accommodation costs of houses/apartments found in condusive environments or areas characterized with the usual facilities that are found in an average African city. By this, this survey did not cover rural areas (villages), please.
1) ABUJA: In terms of the cost of renting an apartment, be it flat, self-con or bed-sitter, Abuja (the main city), is a place where you really need to eat 'bellefull' before doing that. This can really reduce your savings to a frustrating amount! It's in places like Maitama that you would see a one-bedroom flat that goes for 1million Naira!!! Any landlord/house agent who puts up same house for that amount in Benin-City is surely an 'Enemy of Progress' Are we buying the house? It's because of this that made many residents of Abuja to move to surburbs or outskirts of the city.
2) LAGOS: I discovered that most of the mini-flats in Lagos mainland are above 300k a year. You can get this same apartment, even with better facilities and in a more serene environment, at half the price, in Akure. When I saw the bed-sitter a friend of mine paid for at Oregun for 10k monthly, I wept!!!
3) WARRI: This would have come after Port-Harcourt but it seems as if some house owners here think everyone is scooping crude oil from the ground since it's called the 'Oil City'. Sometimes, mini-flats go for as high as 18k monthly!!! 3 bedroom flats in good environments can cost 480k-500k per year; sometimes, 600k.
4) PORT-HARCOURT: Rentage in PH City is not too different from what's obtainable in Warri.
5) ENUGU: Sometimes, a bed-sitter that's so small to an extent where you won't even have enough space to stretch your hands in the morning without knocking off things in your room, could go for as high as 100k-110k per year! Even places like Obiagu and Artisan!!! The rentage cost of 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom flats in places like Loma Linda/Independence Layout/GRA, can make an unemployed man die before his time!!!
Compiled by Rapmoney
OP is wrong: I grew up in warri before life took me out and I can tell you that in the entire Niger Delta, Calabar has the most expensive rentage! And this is a state without a drop of oil of it own!
dason4life: Maybe none . . . Maybe not But investors (exporters) in other states can export without barrier. Why rely on the government when you can do it? Nigeria practices mixed economy, unlike Anambra state, exportation is being carried out by private individuals.
You have not gotten it: farmers are being thought how to make more money for themselves rather than rely on the local economy. 5 million dollars shared between local farmers and the export handling firm is no small money.... And here it is not life stock but green vegetables and dried fish.... They were taught the nitty-gritty of doing it accordingly to specification.
There are numerous sons and daughters of the state who are doing export and import without government inputs and unknown to the government, within and without Nigeria.
Here, it is about local everyday farmers who have never been to US and might likely never be there doing business beyond Anambra state through an iniative of the state government.
I do no know any other state that has created wealth in such manner (ugwu and fish). What is given in Nigeria is giving out Keke and branded taxi to locals.
dason4life: Nice One from the Anambarians. But before you start to shout Up Wilile Take a look at this link below. The export of Anambra as a state is equivalent to what individually owned companies export in other state.
The report says it is with the support of the governor. It is individual farmers grouped into cooperatives that actually owns the business not the government of the state... Besides, how many states in Nigeria do exportexport?
Dainikel: Something is definitely amiss, I don't fink someone who has worked pretty hard for his money would just lavish it at every given opportunity...
He picks his opportunities very wisely otherwise he would be or would have been at your own wedding or somebody close to you.
opalu: Luckily I have cast and buried very many of such tanks. And I want to explain it in very plain manner.
Remember that in the villages and in many towns, to do your soakaway, you just dig the ground and use blocks to build the walls of the soakaway inside the dug pit. Then you turn some blocks so that the waste liquids can flow through the holes of the block into the soil. Then the solid waste is left inside the soakaway.
But in towns and cities where the water is very near like in lekki and VI, if you do that normal soakaway, the water from the ground will turn it into a swimming pool in just 1 day or 2! You cannot use blocks to do the walls because the water pressure plus earth pressure will collapse it inside the ground. And even before then, water would pass through any holes allowed into it.
But people in the house must poopoo. So the best solution builders adopt is to cast the whole thing on the ground after reinforcement and carpentry works. We use waterproof admixture to improve the water resistance of the structure. We also plaster it and apply felting to it (if the client doesn't over negotiate). Thereafter, some guys your are expert in SINKING septic tanks enter inside and continually dig and dig until the entire structure reaches the required level. If you don't engage a good plumber and a land surveyor, they may sink the tank below the required level therefore making it not work properly. Or they make it to be too high that it would not flow with the compound level. So after sinking it, you will start seeing water inside like swimming pool except you did it in very dry season. You use 2 or 1 pumping machine to bail out the water to the point that it becomes very dry. Then suddenly you seal the bottom using DPM, chemicals and cement mortar. That sealing stops the water completely. They way you seal is systematically. You seal one side and allow space for water to pass through another place until the sealing dries. Then block that hole and run your rebars and cast fast fast fast. Please don't try this at home. Because many who we explain like this to jump to "Do It Yourself " and they mess up the whole septic tank.
Any septic tank done wrongly will get full easily and they will have to pump the sewage out every 6 months or 9 months or even 3 months. A good one will last very long before needing a pump. The waste water can have its own compartment or just to flow into the public drain. I mean water from kitchen and bath etc.
After the bottom, the top slab is cast using formwork and rebars also. There must be openings with precast concrete cover. Your interlocking should pass over the tank if you got the level perfectly. Also don't let the pipes to run into the septic tank at middle point. Because most Nairalanders whose site I went to correct, the sewerage pipes enter the tanks at middle so it get full easily. They got the slope wrong from the manholes and Inspection chambers.
Please, how safe is the storey building in that picture, considering this water story
Faculty14: I earlier quoted you asking you to give ne the estimated casualties on the side of the Vietnamese soldiers who fought america in the 60' and compared with that of the Americans You still havnt given me a reply Now let me put it to you this way, when the Americans went to north Vietnam their intent was not to grab territories just as they did in Iraq and Afghanistan..the measured success in the war with the number of dead bodies left after each encounter with the Viet guriellas.same applied in Iraq the insurgents were using hit and run tactics to hit the Americans but tell me who had the highest casualties. One thing you all fail to realise is this WAR IS NOT WON BY WAY POWER BUT BY FIRE POWER.the side with the highest fire power will eventually come out victorious no matter how sophisticated ur technique is..and you think guerilla warfare is new to the Nigerian military.. The major problem the Nigerian military will in tackling the avengers and other sympathizers is the rough and difficult terrain of the Niger Delta, the tough vegetation and thick forest leaves makes it almost impossible for drones and helicopters to see their targets clearly
I don't think you mentioned me asking for Vietnam figure or anything... You got me mixed up with someone else.
As for gorilla war, no nation has been able to engage with a ragtag army and come out with their original objective, achieved.
Gorillatactics doesn't involve large army or battalion on the side of the opponent. For instance, what is happening in the delta... While Nigeria has deployed heavy and light weapons, the nda simply carries dynamite to locations far from the concentration point of the army and rupture pipelines whereas for every single at, the government incurs all manners of cost like allowances, fuelling etc
At the end they round up some hooligans in frustration and declare them the enemy.
Faculty14: it won't reach the extent were the will be no money to finance govt. The militants will either be crush or given the money the so desire.you think the have the interest of the ND at heart..there only fighting for their own share of the national cake mend did the same.and in years to come more may still rise up Bunch of hungry men
It can get to that point where their won't be money to finance government activities and pay for luxury of government officials. Nigeria will go broke or look for external financing within 90 days if the bombing continues. You need cash to motivate soldiers through payment of duty allowances aside salaries.
If there's frequent delays in payment, many will sabotage the fight cause while there their responsibilities won't be suspended.
Faculty14: who said anything about commuting genocide,am only stating the obvious fact that will happen here on NL and other social media outlets. When the military start engaging this boys in real combat people like your type will still come here on NL and type genocide and call for amnesty to probe the killings And BTW who told you the were not collateral damage in the war in Afghanistan, why don't you research and see how many civilians lost their lives during the American allied campaign in Afghanistan You think the can ever be a war were civilians will not be affected. Most of you don't even have a slightest idea of what you clamouring for,you think war is child's play
There will never be any 'real combat'. Gorilla warfare is what they boys have adopted which means they will only surprise you when you least expected... Just like boko was doing initially until it got into their head to hold territories... Gorilla war is very frustrating for the most equipped side.
No nation has ever won against such group (America tried in Iraq and failed and pulled out, Russia did same in Afghanistan and also failed) because it is time and resources consuming... You fly birds(surveillance aircrafts) for months and then conclude that all is well and boom it goes. Even when you locate a hide it never houses all your target do you bomb 2 persons with 300k dollars bombs and refuel to continue search
Faculty14: see you talking as if the govt is the only one going to suffer the aftermath of the bombings When last did you enjoy stable power supply ??
I have 2 mighty gen and luckily don't pay for the Pms the they consume... But the government suffers more than me. Without money, anybody can compromise the secret of the country from ministers to defense personnel. Abi if government start owing them and cutting on their benefits dem no go start selling our secrets one one naira to foreign enemies for black market.
AlPeter: Interesting. I think the FG should do a massive clear out of the creeks involving every arm of the NAF. Create a perimeter from land then slowly sweep inwards towrds the sea Mapping every nook and crannies while using the Navy and the airforce for surveillance
You are imagining the creek to be the size of Lagos lagoon and plain like the Sambisa forest. No it is not
goodlifehyd: God bless you, when they are done blowing up refineries, they should start blowing up schools, roads and other structures in their land so we would know they are truly angry, by the time their eyes go clear their states would be like Afghanistan compared to other regions
They are more sensible than boko... They won't blow schools or anything that has not got to do with oil. They said so
OK in the midst of hundreds of military personnel and assortment of hard and soft war equipment... Either government negotiates or zero economy becomes a reality, for them
saintdennis: Like I said u know NOTHING about war.
Going to the creeks will be suicide, that CAN ONLY HAPPEN WHEN A WAR IS DECLARED.
Cos then there'll be enough support forces to cordon off the area, do u rily think soldiers can navigate the creeks better than these militants?
The military will obviously readjust it's tactics to meet the demands of the upcoming ND campaign.
Well no worries like I said when the real battle starts don't be a cry baby.
If u call our military cowards what of u.s military that won't go near the afghan, Pakistan mountains where terrorist are hiding? U know nothing!
Not matter what is given to the Nigerian army I can bet you they will never enter deep into those creeks.... They might stay in the safe waters and fire rounds after rounds of different warheads but to go in and check the damage is something else.
We are talking about water that if anything causes you to fall off your boat, you are as good as dead.
Ask any soldier that was there during the warri crisis... It takes the strength of the heart to survive that Creek... And a strange won't be in a hurry to run into dark creeks that you don't see anything just cold and quietness all through.
TPAND: TOMPOLO is way too rich to be hiding in the creeks. This report is fake. This is conjured by insular minds that have not travelled out of the southwest. They don't hide in creeks.
Many south western persons don't even have an imaginary picture of what a creek looks like, if you know, then you will agree to what am saying.
Tompolo has a private jet, has a private island, has investments in 5 countries. He made well over $2.5billion from legal contracts awarded to him by NIMASA. You think with all this, creek is where he will choose to live. Sambisa forest is bigger than the creeks. One area surveillance will bring out hide outs of the militants.
I thin you are the one that is downplaying the size of the creek.. have you been to big warri or 911 before? You saw all those mangroves along the way?
The creek I'd only accessible to those with the heart... There are parts those can't be seen from the air.. The shrubs are so thick, the reptiles are so bigbigEverything has size out if the ordinary
Chief Army Staff Meets General Officers Commanding To Tackle Militancy in Niger Delta
The leadership of the Nigerian Army has renewed commitment to tackle militancy in the Niger Delta Region, this was at a meeting of the general officers commanding, presided over by the Chief Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai at the Army Headquarters
tempem: Fine!! In my life I have never said and would never say that. But, Have you ever asked them where it's being found? I repeat, No where in the Bible made mentions of Christ's blood being drank and his body wasn't eaten... . What you heard people saying is what isn't found in the Bible. Infact the Bible condemns bloods consumption and eating of human... so, where the hell did they get that stuff from.. Please, don't generalize things Abeg.
Pagan forming Prof in a strange profession.... Read your Bible, again but this tie, slowly. You will sure find it.... The communion didn't sprang from nowhere... Jesus ordered it to be repeated as often as need serves us
