airsaylongcon: If two people are crossing, they can only move at the speed of the slowest person.
WizardofOz1: You can do it well under 12 minutes..
Audu (1min) starts with Adesuwa (7mins) but goes with his normal pace with Adesuwa holding d torch. With Adesuwa still walking, Audu finishes his journey and then Amaka (2mins) starts hers with Adesuwa still on his own journey. When Amaka crosses, Adeyinka (5mins) starts his trip and crosses the bridge with 1 min over. Total = 8 minutes.
All conditions met; torch stays on with max of two people on the bridge.

Of course na, I can't turn down an opportunity to be amongst intelligent folks. smiley

As the saying goes, if you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room.
https://www.davidcolarusso.com/flowcharts/images/smartest.gif

airsaylongcon: Yep! That was what the assessors told us. I still don't have the answer so would be nice if someone here works some intelligible magic.

PS: Good to see you still following the thread.
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by TheRealAdonye(m): 4:28pm On Aug 12, 2014
You sure about that 12 minutes constraint? Bro

Audu (1) and Amaka (2) ----------------> 2
Amaka (2) <---------------- 2
Adeyinka (5) and Adesuwa (7) ---------------> 7
Audu (1) <--------------- 1
Audu (1) and Amaka (2) ---------------> 2

Total of 14 minutes

airsaylongcon: For the group work, it is crucial to have some kind of team structure and leadership o! At my only AC experience, we just kept rambling and rambling without heading in any direction. Disaster. Group work exercise is not really about the loquacious. I believe it is about making meaningful contributions, accepting superior ideas while tactfully turning down weak ones. And open your mouth and talk!!! I was forming posh intellectual boy...the outcome nobi here

Example group activity:
There are 4 people Audu,Amaka,Adeyinka and Adesuwa who HAVE TO cross a crocodile infested river at night using a bridge. They have a torch that is absolutely required to see. Audu can cross the bridge alone in a minute while Amaka requires two minutes. Adeyinka requires 5 minutes while Adesuwa needs 7 whole minutes to perform the same feat. The bridge can accommodate a maximum of 2 people simultaneously. If two people are crossing, they can only move at the speed of the slowest person.

Devise a means whereby ALL parties cross the bridge in under 12minutes

(We had to vocalize our ideas with other group members and we DID NOT solve it even though the assessors insisted there was a solution)

Edit:
You require the torch to cross the bridge and the torch CANNOT be tossed back across the bridge
NYSC › NYSC: Is It Really Cardinal? by TheRealAdonye(op):
This article can be found at My Blog and was written roughly 7 months into my NYSC experience. Its long but I believe its worth it. Actually, it isn't even long.

Oh, and catch the puns if you can.

2:13pm

Me: “Oga, abeg give me 200 Naira own”

MeatSeller: *cuts meat into 4 pieces”

Me: “Oga, no be 5? Add put another one”

MeatSeller: *adds one more piece”

I’m never letting anyone cheat me in these zones.. I’ll show them I’m a PH ..

Oh sorry, I’m just rambling on.. I forgot my manners in the desert for the Israelites to eat..

I’m Adonye.. I’m not really a writer. ThatsAll

Our story started at a Meat Seller’s stand at The Oja Market in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria.. Let’s continue, shall we?

I move through the market purchasing items for my next culinary adventure — Afang Soup.. See ehn, Mum had given me her recipe, Sis had contributed and my friend Bassey had showed me how he cooks his.. I’m gon kill this..

2:45pm

I enter the house famished and tired. But before, I put the kerosene in my stove and start cooking, I have to prepare the ingredients. I don’t know if you’ve cooked Afang before but the preparations are stressful. So to get energy, I prepare Garri, groundnuts and some sugar and I start soaking.

My flatmates are around. Names? Tunde & Niyi. University attended? Onabisi Onabanjo University (formerly, Ogun State University).

Niyi considers himself a Street boy. He was/ is a singer, bartender, DJ etc. Anything to hustle and bring some money.

Tunde is very religious, was an Usher in school, doesn’t believe in Sex before Marriage.

I hail Niyi and he responds with the usual chants of ‘Awon Eleyi’, ‘Efile Fun’, ‘Baba Agba’, etc. I wonder how he gets his energy. I mean, we just worked our asses off teaching secondary school students from 8 to 2. I greet Tunde and the courtesies are a little more reserved.

How did I get here? Going to the Market, Cooking, Drinking Garri on the reg.. The answer to that question is NYSC.

I’ve come to realize that life isn’t Automatic. It has to switch Gears once in a while. Love it or hate it, NYSC is one of those gears. As a prospective corper, you would have heard thousands of stories about this scheme. I’m here to tell you that like a game of cards, its going to be worth it.

The orientation camp is an awesome experience. You get to meet new friends, and potentially your future partner. I would advise that you look forward to it and shut out any form of negativity. It only happens once.. ONCE. Even if you’re told to repeat your service year, you won’t go to camp again. You really do not want to mess up something you only do once in your life.

After camp, you’ll be posted to a place of primary assignment (PPA). Again, approach this with an open mind. If you’re posted to a school, see it as an opportunity to contribute your quota to the next generation.

NYSC helps to take you out of your comfort zone. An essential ingredient to shape Nigeria’s next leaders. Life isn’t a mattress with people named Rose sleeping on it. At some point, you’ll have to leave that comfortable bed, 20+ hours light, Zippy Internet connection, etc. Let NYSC prepare you.

I’ve learnt a lot over the past 8 months. I’ve met people who had it way harder I did and still survived. I’ve been able to discover that I’m more resilient than I give myself credit for and for someone who hated the kitchen, I’ve had to figure this cooking ish out myself.

We all say we want to change this country. But even though the Telecommunication companies want us to believe otherwise, Talk is cheap. What better way to effect change than to start from the places where 3G is poor/ non existent? To these places just take a stroll, See how they roll, check out their parole and find out your role.

Of course, there are people that have applied Mary Kay to their mind about taking a 3 week exeat from camp and have worked their posting to choice states. Maybe this would bring out the smaller denominations of money in your mind. If not, I still hope you have an enjoyable service year. Welcome to The Youth Service Corps of Nigeria.

Education › Irish Ambassador Joins American Univerisity Of Nigeria Faculty by TheRealAdonye(op): 9:24am On Jul 24, 2014
Faculty:ˈfak(ə)lti, fak-uhl-tee; Noun,

British English: A division within a university comprising one subject area, or a number of related subject areas
American English: Academic Staff (i.e. Lecturers)

The Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Nigeria, Mr. Patrick Fay, will be joining the American University of Nigeria as a faculty member at the end of his diplomatic service in August, 2014.

An official statement from the University’s President’s office, said Ambassador Fay will use Fall 2014 to prepare for classes and will be in residence starting from the Spring of 2015.

In her announcement of this important appointment, AUN’s President Margee Ensign said, “All of us at AUN are very excited that Ambassador Fay will be joining us during the next academic year. His experience as a diplomat, peacemaker, and scholar complements our mission and activities at AUN. We are honored that, like former EU Ambassador David Macrae, who joined AUN last year, Ambassador.

Fay will help to contribute to the education and development mission of AUN, and the further development of Nigeria.”

As a member of the AUN faculty, Ambassador Fay will be teaching political science, philosophy, public administration in the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as courses in law which are currently being developed by AUN.

On his new appointment, a delighted Ambassador Fay commented: “I am very happy to be joining AUN to teach and to assist with its mission as a development university.”

Ambassador Fay has a rich educational background that includes a BA/B.Ph. from St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth in ethics and political philosophy (1970), an MA in EU Law from the University of Leicester (2001), MSc in economics and /policy studies the University of Dublin (1996), Master of Public Administration from the University College, Dublin (1981), and a PhD in governance from Queen’s University, Belfast (2008). He is completing a graduate diploma in diplomatic studies (Leicester University) and intends to undertake an LLM in human rights law (London University).

He is currently working on a post-doctoral degree in critical thinking, an essential component of education at AUN.

Dr. Ensign described Ambassador Fay as an intellectually astute diplomat, meticulous scholar, and lifelong learner. Before coming to Nigeria, he served in many posts in Dublin in the Home Office before being posted to the European Union in Brussels, and was an active participant in the historic Good Friday Peace Agreement, which brought an end to the long and violent sectarian conflict which plagued Northern Ireland.

Mr. Fay will be the second Ambassador from Europe to join the American University of Nigeria after a successful tour of diplomatic mission duty in Abuja. Dr. Macrae, former European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, joined in August last year as Executive Vice President for University Relations and Development.

Drawing on his first-hand experience of the negotiations leading to the peace settlement in Northern Ireland, Ambassador Fay made one of the lead presentations at the AUN-Adamawa Peace Initiative International Peace and Development Conference held in Yola, from 10th to 13th June, 2014.

Addressing the delegates, the diplomat drew pertinent models from that 30-year religious and political conflict and eventual peace settlement in Northern Ireland, to illustrate lessons that Nigeria might learn from the Irish experience.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of both political leadership and civil society in conflict

resolution. He argued that the military solution might not decisively and comprehensively conclude a conflict like the insurgency which Nigeria faces, and strongly recommended multiple approaches, including development, institutional reform, and improved security.

The ambassador urged political leaders to always speak up for peace in times of conflict.

First off, A Disclaimer: I have no party and I support none..
Now that is (I hope) understood..

The trains come with sections of the rail attached so don't read much meaning into the absent sections of the track..
The train present now came in two sets and were attached at the site. They came with the tracks attached to them and those tracks had to 'lap' with the ones that were already there. When this happened, it showed that the work was being carried out to specifications.

The trains are going to move soon albeit from UTC to Sharks Park.

This is a 'PPP' gone horribly wrong.. The only blame I feel Chibuike should get was not pulling the plug on this project once it wasn't feasible as it was supposed to be..

I don talk finish.
