Thanks Boss. I appreciate!

Lekiboboe:

HI honorable,

I can't recommend a finance masters program for your friend, i can only suggest potential finance masters degree programs.

Hey Bro,

Please can you recommend Finance Courses for a friend who finished with a 2'1 (3.17 out of 4.00) Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a University in Ghana. She graduated in 2018 and currently works in Financial Control at the HQ of a major bank in West Africa for the last year. She's not interested in doing accounting anymore so she'd rather focus on Finance. Thank you so much for all you do.

Lekiboboe:

As regard the bolded,

Refer to this post

PG. Cert in Accounting and related programs
https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/247#103188415

Be sure a PG.CERT in Accounting is the right program for you before you apply.

If your work experience is not in anyway related to your Accounting degree, you are expected to go for a PG.CERT program related to the Job you are doing. E.g. A Microbiology grad. with 5-years work experience in the banking industry going for a PG.CERT in a Microbiology related program, there is no CAREER PROGRESSION in that, and that can bring about a RED FLAG on a CANADA STUDY VISA APPLICATION, such applicant is expected to go for a BANKING related PG.CERT program.

50,400 and you pay with POS if I recall correctly

Samadhii:

Please, how much does the test cost there? Do I pay in cash?

You need to apply for your GCMS Notes as this is just a generic refusal reason. The notes will expand more on this, and you can tackle the issues raised in your reapplication.

Deajang:
Please I applied for visa and used my uncle as sponsor with an account of 17m, the reply came very late and this is the reason stated below…

1 am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in
subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

1- what does this really mean
2- what is a possible solution to it on reapplication

It's not advised to mix them because there are few research results on whatever effects may occur when you combine them together since the vaccines work in their own different way.

SweetJJ:
why do you say you can't mix them? I think it's only in Nigeria they say that. My school said a combination of Morderna, Pfizer and Astrazeneca is good

Check on Facebook Marketplace also for places to rent. You might be able to find better apartments there.

Geeneeka:
I'm new in Canada, I tried getting a room from Nigeria on kijiji but ended up getting nonsense, 9 people in an apartment mostly Indian guys. The house owner never told me we would be 9.

Only to get to the apartment, and it was very dirty and unhygienic to stay as a lady, the rooms are so small with very little bed... Please if anyone has a decent shared apartment they want to rent out please I'm very much interested. Send me an email so I can come check it out.

Any conestoga student going for project management this fall? Please send me an email let's get to know each other.

Your first Port of Entry is where you will be given your Study Permit.

Doree:
Good morning all,

Please those that have already landed in Canada, if you first land in a province en route to your final destination, will you be given your student permit et al there?
E.g my flight will first land in Montreal, have a two hours layover before moving to Halifax. Will I be subjected to the Montreal arrival rules (covid test, student permit, etc) or will I still be regarded as a traveller till I reach my final destination?

Sorry about this. The first dose of the vaccine does cause a strong reaction in the body. Please rest, take some painkillers and you'll be fine in a few days.
Queenmama03:
I strongly advise anyone coming to Canada to get fully vaccinated if you have the opportunity to. Unfortunately I was only able to get one shot before leaving Naija. My experience has been terrible so far. I'll share when I put myself together.

For your mother's corporate account which has more funds, get a Bank Reference letter stating that she is the sole signatory to the account. Corporate accounts are usually accessed by several signatories (MD, CFO, and the likes) so it is important you have that reference letter that states she is the sole signatory to the account and thus she can access the account at any time without any encumbrances. This was a mistake I made in my first application before doing the needful for the second one that was successful.

HorlarJP:
Hello Good morning
I got my GCMS notes this morning, I posted it already..
Any advice on how to repackage my application please and it seem the issue is about funds as I use my mom main account (7million naira or so) and a business account (30million naira ) of my uncle which my mom is managing. Seem that’s what the VO is concerned about.

How much in total should be enough in my mom main account or if I want to be a self sponsored how much should I get in my account for my proof of funds, thanks… and any more advice on how to package my application again.

If possible, do it the day before your flight. If you can, please go to Clina Lancet in V.I. I did mine there and got the test by evening.

Pinky:
Did anyone fly Ethiopia airline to Toronto, Canada? Please when is the advisable time to do the covid-19 test?
flight is 1.40pm, should the test be done 1 OR 2 days before the flight . I am worried we may not get the test result if done a day before
please advise based on your Ethiopian airline experience

Thank you

Took me 5 Mins to get my SIN at Service Canada in Brandon, MB. It may take a few hours in cities with a lot more people and immigrants but I haven't heard of it taking weeks though - usually, a few days if it's done online.

Pinky:
Hello all,
please help with my questions below:

1. is it true that upon landing Canada, you have to apply for Social insurance number (SIN) online and it will take weeks to arrive? don't they issue it anymore at the airport upon landing?
2. if one has 1.5 years driving history on Nigeria Driver's license, does it mean one will not be able to use the FRSC driving history in Toronto so as to do G2 road test immediately after passing G1?
2. please if you have gotten FRSC diving history recently, could you please share the contact in Abuja and how long it took to receive the letter

Thank you!!!!

I kept my earlier GAA Reservation I had made at the hotel a month prior because Toronto wasn't my final destination and I needed a place to stay for a while to get my bearings (I entered on Thursday and my flight to Winnipeg was the next week Thursday due to cheaper ticket prices) When I got to the hotel, I informed them about my vaccination exemption which they acknowledged and they requested I fill a form so that they can confirm from Public Health Canada and then issue a refund of the GAA Rate (about 930+ CAD).

Queenmama03:

Thanks for this awesome landing gist. If you don't mind i have a few questions. I noticed you still did a three-day stop over despite being vaccinated, I would like to know if this is necessary?

Also you talked about a refund, please can you explain what that was for.

Hopefully I'll be fully vaccinated before travelling and I'm just wondering if it's still required to make the hotel reservation at my port of entry.

Also @Lianna2020 and any other person who has answers to my questions I'll really appreciate your input. Thanks

I was turned back at the Murtala Mohammed Airport. I'm a bit unsure about this risk. The International Office at my school recently sent a mail stating the 4 Weeks window upon advice from IRCC so I don't know if 5 weeks would be fine or not. It'll most likely be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

Blavkmaann:

Chief, I have a question, where did they turn you back? Is it in Nigerian airport or Toronto airport?

Landing Gist

Hello All, It would be a disservice if I did not update the thread on my landing gist so here it is:

Some Background Information
On June 4th, 2021, my original travel date, I was prevented from boarding at the airport due to the Border Official, who the counter officials sent my documents via WhatsApp, declaring that June was too early a date for travel despite my Enrollment Letter showing September 2021 (this was before it being known that the new mandate was for students to arrive within Four (4) weeks of your start date). This was extremely disappointing as I had already made the GAA Hotel Booking along with the Covid Test I had done the previous day.
To circumvent this, I enrolled for my Thesis which I had planned to do when I settle in after arrival in Canada (I had already completed a full year of coursework while in Nigeria). Thesis Registration took about three weeks to process (as most of the professors were in the field for research work) and by the time it was ready, Canada had announced the exemption from Quarantine for those who are fully vaccinated (which I was). I rescheduled my flight and hotel booking for July 7th and 8th and waited till the travel date.

Trip
I arrived at the airport quite early and was asked for my Enrollment Letter (now showing July 5th as the start date), Covid Test Result, ArriveCAN receipt, and my Vaccination Card showing my full vaccination status at the counter. It took an hour for the Border Official to respond to their WhatsApp message and give clearance for me to travel. My flight was an Ethiopian Airlines flight that departed Lagos at 1:40 PM. I was really impressed with the food served on the plane and the access to movies, music and TV shows available on the console in front of me. The book I intended to read was left unread as I switched between watching movies and listening to some newly discovered music.

We landed in Addis Ababa at night (beautiful airport) and I was only asked for my Covid Test Result and hotel booking (if I had). We stayed about two hours or so there before changing aircraft and heading to Dublin for a one-hour refuelling stop. We were given two forms to fill on the plane - a declaration card and one containing contact information to be filled.

We landed in Toronto by 7:30 AM on July 8th and we were separated by vaccination status at immigration (Fully Vaccinated, Half Vaccination and No Vaccination). I was directed to a computer system where I filled another declaration form and was given a printout. The next stop was the border officials who requested for the printout, my Passport, ArriveCAN Receipt and Covid Test results. Upon going through them, he declared me fully exempt from hotel quarantine, the 11 days quarantine and Day 8 testing and placed a green sticker stamp on my passport. The next queue I was directed to was the one for issuing our Study Permits. We stayed on that for over an hour as there were lots of people who had landed that same morning so lots of people to process. Finally, I got to the top of the line and was asked by the Border Official for my Passport, Admission Letter and Tuition Receipt, he asked if I had started classes online which I answered yes to, he asked me to log in to my school account to verify that I had completed classes and to corroborate my answer. When he was satisfied, he issued my study permit and informed me about the 20 hours limit for working and restated my full exemption from any quarantine. I did the arrival covid test and wasn't given the home test kit for Day 8 testing due to my exemption status.

I stayed at the airport for a bit while waiting for my hotel's shuttle bus. On getting to the hotel, I informed them about my exemption status and I filled a form for refund purposes (I had booked the more expensive GAA Rate a month ago when I had originally intended to travel) while they confirm my status with Public Health Canada. I really enjoyed the food at the hotel and the room was really lovely. I had seen some terrible reviews of Crowne Plaza just before my trip but I had no issues while there for 3 days. I am currently at a friend's place while waiting for my flight to Winnipeg in Manitoba on Friday (my school is Brandon University).

Canada so far has been lovely and quite interesting to observe (the sun doesn't set in Toronto until close to 10 PM and by 5 AM it's up again). I wish everyone awaiting their PPR the best of luck and the assurance that God will perfect what He has started. I pray God blesses the Gurus (Frank and Lekibobo just to name a few) and everyone who contributes their quota in providing help and information on this great thread. Have a great day all and may the rain of PPR continue. Amen!

Thank you for providing this information that correlates with the experiences of several folks here. Clearly this new rule isn't widely known.

meemeeibrahim22:
Hi Everyone
The Enrollment letter is very important because it shows your date of start classes.. I was suppose to travel in May for September fall I called BA and they told me specifically that I won’t be able to travel without my EL and if I just travel
I would have to leave a month to when classes will start which will be clearly stated on your EL. This instruction isn’t from the Nigeria immigration it is from the Canadian immigration that’s why when you get to the airport they take pictures of your document and send it for final confirmation if to allow you board or not.

Be calming down small. Those saying they were denied boarding didn't say they didn't have enrolment confirmation. Once you have paid your fees you can easily access and print enrolment confirmation from the school portal. The airline argument is that its too early to travel. I my case I have everything. I argued. They snap and send all documents to their rep in Egypt who gave the final decision. We were like 3 that day and all with enrolment confirmation. I used my children AL that was expiring and the reply from the man up there was that they can't travel since parent isn't boarding, So much have changed.

I believe he has seen several posts from others that attest to my original post which he refuted. Things change dramatically with the IRCC and its rules and sometimes, it is not widely known. The airline officials send the enrollment letter via WhatsApp to Embassy Officials who make the decisions now and send it via a message. The others who posted their very recent experiences were current students who were already enrolled and yet they were not allowed to board due to September being far off from the travel date.

Jeff5gold:

Funny....when you meet them in the airport, tell them to show you the link.

I did my post because this same issue happened to two people I know. They were enrolled for September and attempted to travel in June and they were refused by the officials of Ethiopian Airlines with the reason being that June was too early to enter Canada. They (the airline officials ) received this decision via WhatsApp from the Office in Nairobi who crosschecks the documents you show at the counter.

fairlytreated:

Sadly, it doesn't work this way in Nigeria airports. Those airlines staffs work as if they are Canadian border officers . I was going for my semester 3. I have evidence of the completed semesters and enrolment confirmation for semester 3 starting in September but was refused boarding by Egyptair. They held it was too early to travel for September resumption. Me weh be old student already o. That's how I was turned down. I told them my visa was approved since November 2020 and was not in a hurry to japa but for where. I argued with them to take me there to face the border officer myself and take responsibility if returned by the border officer. Those airlines especially the ones operated by Africa countries won't board you. I explained my kids exemption letter were expiring and not certain about renewal and it was necessary to travel early to get enough time after quarantine to rent and find schools for them before resumption so I can balance their school runs and mine but for where. She categorically told me should wouldn't answer me again. Myself and other students were just treated like slaves in our own country. Hardest of it is the airline requesting fair difference and penalty payments to reschedule. Anyway we shall overcome all these ill treatment soon.
It is strongly advised to wait few weeks before resumption. Although I'm sure Airlines operated by Europe countries wouldn't go that far.

For those who want to avoid the mandatory hotel stay and quarantine, Canada will be lifting these requirements for those who are fully vaccinated (two doses) by the approved vaccines in the country on July 5th, 2021.

Also, while you may have an Enrollment Letter for Fall 2021, please be aware that you may very well be refused at the airport if you seek to travel more than a month before the start date on your Enrollment Letter. While it isn't mentioned on their website (as far as I've seen), your program should start within a month or a month of your intended travel date or it will be deemed that you are arriving too early (possibly to root out what they deem unnecessary travel). This is something being enforced in the background by their staff who verify your documents.

Holiday Inn: Toronto International Airport's GAA (Government Approved Accommodation) rate is 295CAD per night and 1040 CAD for the three nights (taxes included).

TheShaman:
I don't think you can make a booking on Booking.com. You have to go through the links on the immigration site (COVID-19 mandatory hotel stopover: Plan and book) or call the central booking number. There's a specific GAA rate (which is higher than the regular rate) they charge for the Quarantine and I don't think it shows on Booking.com.

There's even a penalty for booking a non-GAA rate: "Reservations made through other travel agencies, online booking sites or apps will not be accepted. If you book through an online travel agency or app, you may be subject to a $3,000 fine for not having the appropriate booking."
