Sports / Goals From Suarez And Messi Help Defeat Nine-man Athletico Madrid by thesoccerhoopin: 2:08am On Jan 31, 2016
From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/

Athletico Madrid and Barcelona were at the first and second spot of the La Liga table respectively before today's game, and today was a fierce competition among these clubs because the match outcome was going to decide whether Barcelona was going to remain at the top spot of the table or Athletico was going to steal the lead from Barcelona. And by the way, Barcelona still has an outstanding match to be played as they have only played 21 games this season while the rest clubs have all played 22 games.

10 minutes into the match today, Athletico had the lead from a stunning goal by Koke after a cross was delivered to him from the corner region. However, this early goal still didn't stop Barcelona's men as they kept pushing forward and trying to create chances.

20 minutes after Koke's goal, Barcelona's left-back, Jordi Alba delivered a low cross in the 18 yard box to Lionel Messi for the equalizer, which got the Camp Nou crowd back into the game. But Barcelona was not done yet. 8 minutes later, this time it was the right-back of Barcelona, Dani Alvez who delivered Luis Suarez with a long cross to seal their lead against Athletico Madrid.

Later on, things didn't seem to go well for Athletico as two of their defenders saw red cards each. Former Chelsea player, Filipe Luis, got a straight red card from the referee after a harsh challenge on Lionel Messi and on the other hand, Diego godin also got a second yellow card from the referee after a heavy slide tackle on Luis Suarez. Antione Greizmann also had to chance to level things up with Barcelona but Claudio Bravo's feet were enough to secure Barcelona's victory.

Sports / Chelsea Scores Late Off-side Goal But It Still Counted (photo) by thesoccerhoopin: 9:01pm On Jan 16, 2016
From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/

Chelsea took on Everton today in the Barclays Premier League at Stamford Bridge as they held off the hungry-Everton team from getting the 3-points they needed to be among the top ten teams on the Premier League table.

This was a very entertaining 90-minutes of football as both teams were completely score-less in the first half of the match but early in the second half things started to erupt quickly. Five minutes into the second-half of the match, Chelsea's captain, John Terry scored an own goal as the cross from Leighton Baines was deflected into the net. Six minutes after Terry's own-goal, Kevin Mirallas doubled Everton's lead, with a powerful turn-around strike after Baines came up with another impressive cross once again.

Just like Everton had done minutes when the second half of the match started, Chelsea came back with two goals within two minutes each from the Spanish team mates Diego Coasta and Cesc Fabregas, to tie up the game.

Early into the 90th minute, Everton's defender Ramiro Funes Mori put his team back on top with an acrobatic kick, sending the ball completely to the opposite side of the net and away from Thibaut Courtois. Everton fans celebrated so hard that Mori had to physically join them in the celebration by jumping into the crowded fans, which eventually got him a yellow card.

With everyone thinking the match was virtually over and Everton had beaten Chelsea in their home, that thought was put to an immediate halt as John Terry scores once again but this time it was in the right net and at the perfect time with a stunning back-heel. John Terry was off-side but the assistant referees were unable to detect it. Coupled with the 'off-side goal', the entire Everton team was pissed because the referee didn't end the match even after the extra stoppage time was past due.

Sports / Ten Biggest Transfers That Could Happen This January by thesoccerhoopin: 3:38am On Jan 08, 2016
From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/search/label/soccer

Since the transfer windows clock began ticking on January 2nd, there have been various and on-going speculations of big transfers expected to happen during this window period. One thing we always know for sure is that the most shocking transfers usually surfaces within minutes remaining on window clock . So here is our compilation of the top ten biggest transfer rumors that could possibly happen this January.

1) Gareth Bale (Real Madrid to Manchester United)
Yes you read that right. Manchester United are currently offering £75 million for the Welsh-International. There have been reports that Bale have been reconsidering plans for his future at Real Madrid, after the sudden sack of Rafa Benitez. Other clubs are also bidding to acquire the current Madrid forward.

2) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borrusia Dortmund to Arsenal )
This would likely be a tough one for Dortmund to let go off. Aubameyang is currently the highest goalscorer both in the Bundesliga and Dortmund this season with 18 goals (higher than any top-scorer of other major leagues). Arsenal has offered £60 million for the striker.

3) Odion Ighalo (Watford to Manchester United)
Third highest goal scorer in the Premier League and Watford's highest goal scorer of the season with 14 goals so far, may be leaving the club to join Manchester United as he was offered a deal from Man.U. Ighalo referred to the deal as a 'dream', to show how willing he is to accept the deal.

4) Isco Alarcon (Real Madrid to Manchester City)
Manchester City has showed interest in signing the Spanish international. If this signing is completed, Isco would be able to reunite with his former boss at Malaga, Manuel Pellegrini, who would be his present boss at Manchester City.

5) Sadio Mane (Southampton to Chelsea/ Bayern Munich)
Several clubs have shown interest in the Striker. Mane has been having an good season at Southampton so far even with 3 goals. However, Ronald Koeman, who is the current head coach of Southampton, is not willing to let go of their striker like he had said earlier (see here). On the other hand, Mane is keen on making a transfer.

6) James Rodriguez (Real Madrid to Manchester United)
James has not been getting much playing time as as he did, when he was just newly acquired by Real Madrid. There have been speculations that Real Madrid are willing to sell James to Manchester United. With Zinedine Zidane as Real Madrid's new head coach, this move may be uncertain because he recently said "all the squad will be important. James and Isco are great players, will be very important for me, the team, the fans, everyone."

7) Granit Xhaka ( Borrusia Mochengladbach to Liverpool)
The Swiss international midfielder has also been eyed by Arsene Wenger. But there is a higher chance of Liverpool signing the midfielder. Xhaka's current club, Borrusia Mochengladbach, are reportedly asking for a sum £37 million for him. Xhaka's Dad, Ragip Xhaka, who is also his agent hinted that big clubs are interested in signing his son

cool Adrien Rabiot (PSG to Arsenal)
The 20-Year-Old midfielder reportedly flew to London in the early hours of today along with his mother, who plays the role of his agent, to close in on his signing with Arsenal.

9) Leroy Sane (FC Schalke to Manchester City)
At 19-year-old, Sane has become a fast-rising superstar who got everyone's attention by his brilliant performance in the Bundesliga and the German national team at the U-21 level. Manchester City have showed interest in signing Sane for a sum that has not been disclosed yet but we expect this to be a huge signing.

10) Emre Mor (FC Nordsjaelland to Southampton/Galatasary and more)
He is only 18-year-old. But not withstanding, he is among the most valuable youngsters currently. Attracting interest from big European teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, Galatasary and others. Mor is a midfielder from Danish with a turkish decent.

Sports / Dallas Mavericks Hands Over The Warriors Their Second Loss Of The Season by thesoccerhoopin: 5:34am On Dec 31, 2015
From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/

With the MVP, Steph Curry out with injured left lower leg, the Warriors were left vulnerable to concede a defeat. The Mavericks played solid and were able to defeat the Warriors 114-91 with an amazing performance from Jose Barea as he kept raining 3-pointers at the American Airlines Center.

So far this season, the Mavericks have become the second team to hand the warriors a defeat after Milwaukee Bucks. With one half of the splash brothers missing, Klay Thompson was not independent enough to help save the Warriors as he made only 4 shots out of 15 and had a total of 10 points throughout the game. So far, it has been unclear of when Curry is expected to return.

Lets hope Warriors interim head coach, Luke Walton, would come up with a strategy to sustain warriors at their normal standard even with two of their first team players missing.

From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/2015/12/soccer-player-gets-fired-within-hours.html

Sometimes, our past can hurt us real bad and this is a good example of such. New Barcelona signing Sergi Guardiola, 24, who formerly played in Alcoron FC, was fired from Barcelona just within hours of signing his life-changing contract after Barcelona officials came across some of his old tweets which they found to be offensive.

The tweets were sent two years ago by Guardiola, in which he tweeted some offensive comments against Catalonia and he also tweeted "Hala Madrid". Guardiola has denied to have any knowledge about such tweets, even though the tweets came from his personal twitter account.

Guardiola tried to defend himself by saying " I want to make clear. I didn't write those tweets. Afriend took my phone and did it. It is a misunderstanding. The tweets are from 2013, a joke from a friend, i didn't even know the tweets existed. Barcelona has treated me very well. I understand their decision. Now I'm going home, we'll see what happens. Once you are a professional, you support the team that plays the best, and that is Barcelona. Joining them was a dream, now its broken". Photos of his signing and his old tweets below.

Celebrities / Nigerian-american NBA Star Surprises A Struggling Mother With A Car (PHOTOS) by thesoccerhoopin: 7:59pm On Dec 26, 2015
From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/2015/12/orlando-magic-guard-buys-mother-brand.html

Victor Oladipo, 23, guard for the Magic recently bought a brand new Kia SUV as a christmas gift for a mother in need. The mother, Sonora Walker, was completely in shock as she kept on smiling as keys of the car was handed to her by Oladipo. The way the car was presented to her was very brilliant and entertaining.

Earlier on, Walker had taken her daughter for an audition at the Rosemont community center in Orlando, Florida. She was then approached by a team mate of Oladipo, Channing Frye, who presented her with gifts and a huge check of $1000. So while they were headed out of the community center, Frye then asked Walker if she had a car to carry her gifts, then she replied that she didn't.
So this was where Oladipo showed up. Oladipo had been waiting outside with the keys to a brand new Kia SUV. As soon as she saw Oladipo, he said to her "I heard u was working real hard, going to work, getting on the bus, but i wanna see ya in a Kia" as everyone around laughed because of the rhyming at the end of his speech. Walker couldn't stop smiling as soon as she realized this was an additional gift.

Later on, Walker and her daughter hopped into the car as they both drove off with joy and gratitude in their hearts. This would definitely be one of the best christmas experiences Walker has had in a while. More photos of Walker, her daughter and her gifts below.

Sports / Football Association To Introduce New Rule by thesoccerhoopin: 10:44pm On Dec 23, 2015
From: http://www.thesoccerhooping.com/2015/12/football-association-to-introduce-video.html

This would be a huge solution to calls wrongly made by referees like offside-goals, awarding penalties and free-kicks to players intentionally diving and penalty appeals for handballs. Football Association, also known as FA, has unveiled its plans to introduce video technology into football to bring more accurate football games to the fans. If you are a basketball fan or you watch basketball, you will know the importance of this video technology and how it helps in making critical calls correctly in the last minutes of intense games, deciding what fouls are flagrant and awarding the possession of the ball to the rightful team when the ball goes out of bounds.

FA handed out questioners to some English teams to help determine if really video technology referees should be brought to football and if successful, the technology would gradually be introduced into football leagues and competitions formally.

Lionel Messi handed his club with the goal opener at the 36th minute into the game, followed by a brace from the Uruguayan forward, Luis Suarez. As at the 18th minute, Real Madrid were loosing to Rayo Vallecano 2-1and Real Vallecano fans could be seen cheering and perhaps thinking they had a preety good chance at defeating the Spanish giants on their home ground but that was never going to be the case.

With four goals from Gareth Bale, three goals from Karim Benzima and two goals from Ronaldo, Real Vallecano never really stood a chance. The misery of Real Vallecano all began when they were handed a second red card two minutes after Gareth Bale's equalizer. They no longer seemed to be in control of the match.
