But how is Lamine this good at 17?? That assist gives off Messi or Dinho vibes. Quite ridiculous.

I wish him a career without major injury. Boy, he will cook!

How can one player be so calamitous and useless at the same time?

Within minutes of coming in he destroyed all the good work done by his teammates.

Get that f*cking saboteur out of Barca!!
PoliticsRe: Tax Bill: Oyedele’s 2019 Post Against VAT Hike Sparks Online Backlash by ThierryJay: 4:08pm On Dec 03, 2024
SalamRushdie:
Food items have always been exempted from VAT
Actually, there are 2 VAT related palliatives in this new bills that were not present back in 2019.

First is that VAT exempt items like the food you mentioned will now be zero rated. This means that food/Agricultural entities that could not previously recover the VAT incurred on their input costs would now be able to recover them leading to an overall lower production cost and a marginal impact on inflation reduction.

Second is that all VAT incurred by taxpayers on expenses in terms of both goods and services can now be recovered based on the new bills. The impact is lower pressures on operating expenses and lower inflationary pressures as a result, which is good for the common man.

My two objective cents as a finance professional.

PoliticsRe: SHAME: Two Nigerians Got Tribal On An American Platform by ThierryJay: 7:44pm On Nov 29, 2024
dumahi:
I think that tribal hate among Nigerians is getting too shameful now. Look at this video.

The video narrator shows how only another Nigerian showed him instant tribal hatred on a place where people gather from the whole world. What a shame!

The description of the video says as follows:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR0OPcbreuY?si=ubhuDYJaLz_clzzP

What do you guys think about this?Nlfpmod
Pls lets be toning down this unnecessary tribal stuff on Nairaland. Did you watch the video at all? The two comments did not show anything tribal. What I saw was a Nigerian's personal opinion of an American's comment and another Nigerian's technical assessment of the opinion in relation to the initial American comment.

No reference was made to tribe or region, there was no insult or innuendo. The second opinion was a purely technical pov just like the first.

How is this then a tribal matter? the narrator seems to be forcing it looking for what isn't lost.

I actually learnt something new from the post today - TAM

If you like show Sad Africans a video of Chidinma as a baby when her mother walked into Home affairs Office they will still tell you that Chidinma is guilty of the crime.

The hatred in their hearts is deep and has been growing since the first xenophobic attacks on foreigners in 2008
Actually, Chidimma was not even in existence at the time of entry of her mum into SA, so that makes the hatred really really weird and uncalled for.

It's the bottled up resentment for their white oppressors which they cannot react to that they lash out with more hatred on other Africans who dare to be as successful as the whities.

Few of them such as this poster know the truth and will be persecuted for it.

Willing slaves in their own land.
Mandela actually labored in vain.
Their actions really show they are dumb. But when I say they need help, it's like when a long-abused prostitute does not know any other way but the crude immoral one. SA is in that position and that's what the lady tried to portray.
FashionRe: ''Forgive Us!'' South African Lady Apologises To Chidimma And Nigeria by ThierryJay:
The apology had a frank heartfelt tone which was pleasantly surprising coming from a South African.

Chidimma did absolutely nothing to deserve the vile vicious hatred unleashed on her by frustrated SAns.

The alleged identity theft was an action of the mother. In which sane society is an innocent child prosecuted for the crime of a parent? Certainly SA created a first of its kind horrible precedence in this regard.

Just like Mamiya said, the Universe had the final say, catapulting the beautiful Chidimma above SA's pettiness to the sole throne of Africa and shared throne globally. Let them hate more to propel Chichi to even more enviable heights. Dem fit kpai themselves if Chidimma wins Miss World.

The root cause analysis given by the lady for their dysfunctional behaviour sheds more light. They are like abused prostitutes that need help and healing from within.

Kudos to this lady for apologizing.

Mordson:
800,000 Naira when 20 naira note was the highest denomination?

I put it to you that you're lying. 800,000 in 20 Naira notes would have been too bulky for you to carry. Besides you said he counted it out of his duffel bag, then the bag must have been as huge and humongous as a blue whale.

undecided
Not entirely true. There was already better life (N50) in 1993.

A 20cm high multi-bundle of N50 notes was about N25,000. 20 bundles will fill the inner base level of a big Ghana must go bag meaning the first row of such bundles will amount to N500K. Only two floors of such bundles will cover the 800K or half the bag.

One thing I will agree with you is that 800k then cannot be contained in a single or both hands. Also, 800k in 1993 is at least equivalent to N70million today. N800K would build a duplex in 1993. So Sowore is likely lying.

A shady offside call ended up costing us the match. It's been confirmed that Lewandowski goal was onside. How can the VAR make such mistake?
It was a tech error. What baffles me is that for an error that is so obvious, why didn't the VAR team overrule the tech result? Tech is supposed to enhance but not replace the law.

In my opinion, this error is as grave as the Liverpool goal that the VAR team forgot to award vs Spurs last season.

Why do these people behave like robots creating unnecessary controversies?

We are not creating enough. With the high line, we re supposed to create overloads in attack to compensate for the gaps we leave at the other end. But we aren't and Sociedad are absolutely running through our defence at will.

grandstar:
This news was probably the first I saw on X this morning.

I suspect why the news wasn't as big as it should be must have be due to his age. He hasn't been relevant in the music industry for decades.

This contrast with James Earl Jones who was still relatively active. He was in Coming To America 2
This is simply not true. Quincy Jones is widely regarded as the greatest musical producer/conductor of all time from the 1940s to the 2010s.

All his proteges and several icons have been paying tributes on SM. From Bill Clinton, Beyonce, The Weekend, Jennifer Hudson, and several other A-listers have been giving glowing tributes. The man was a leviathan in the music industry and hardly is there any black American musical celebrity that he didn't contribute to their rise to fame.

Most of the soundtracks that evolved into the ones in the Tv and musical shows we watched as kids were produced or heavily influenced by Quincy Jones.

It's probably in Nigeria that the news seems on the lowkey. Outside it's big big.

Thanks.😁

It's quite clear because Olmo is the most technically adept player in our squad currently.

Good eye for the pass and excellent in taking good goalscoring positions, creating spaces.

Exquisite first touches and clinical when presented with scoring chances. He takes them with aplomb.

Everything you want in your attacking midfielder
On point. And I dare to even say he's a cheat code because he's so unique that it'll be hard for you to find a player with similar technical set like him in today's football.

Spain enjoyed the cheat code at the Euros, it's Barca's turn to feast. Surprising thing is why his ability went under the radar of a lot of teams. Or maybe Barca is the best environment for him to showcase himself.

It will be interesting to see how we play this afternoon against an Espanyol low block.

We have been running the show when teams come out to play us but I don't think Espanyol will do that. They have not been playing well lately. So their best route to a result is to stay put in their box and ensure nothing goes through them.

So in that case, i think the sheer quality that Dani Olmo brings, will be very crucial.

Great Ballers Need Great Teams to do well.
You cannot blame Ronaldo.

Thats why Haaland can not join a middle-table team
That's why a great Coach cannot help a Middle table Team to win league ask Conte
Thats why Messi cannot join AJ Auxerre
By the way, Messi eventually joined Inter Miami (yet still won 2 trophies and counting..), and

Ranieri did win the EPL with Leicester city.

And that your number one can still happen in a few years time. You never can tell.

Sorry I'm just feeling a bit petty this morning grin

You claim by now, we would have exposure.

Do you realise that as far back as 1960, people were still walking naked in Nigeria.

Pls can you mention the territory that we're not colonized but has the same infrastructure as the western world.
They don't have to have same level of infrastructure as the West but they definitely won't all be walking butt naked and living in huts at this age like you are claiming.

Ethiopia was not colonized, but Addis Ababa is finer than probably all our Nigerian cities.
Bhutan was not colonized
Nepal wasn't.
Tonga in Oceania was not colonized.
Japan was never colonized.

At least for Nigeria, maybe Ethiopia would have been our best benchmark for what we would have looked like if we were not colonized.

The big point you missed is that we were isolated from the world.

You need ships and merchant for international trade, we didn't have that.

Another fact you are missing is that you can not create something you have no idea of or haven't seen before.

Colonization actually brought international trade and exposure to western way of life.
Still not getting it. Yes we would have been late to the party without colonization, but by now we would still have had some exposure.

There are currently territories that were NOT colonized but still have some level of development . Trade made this happen. There can be interactions without colonization.

So do not assume by looking at only one side of the issue.

The language you are typing with

Who brought it?

The primary school and the university you went to, who brought the idea

The cloth you are wearing, obviously western, who brought it

The concept of living in a house and not a hut, who brought the concept

Thanks to colonization
There is a vital aspect you are missing out on.

We didn't have to be colonized to experience exposure to some modern amenities. The long passage of time and greater level of international trade would have ensured that to a large extent.

There are some territories that were not colonized and they currently have many of these facilities you speak of. How? Through trade and globalization. And they don't have to speak English, Portuguese or Spanish.

If Nigeria were not colonized, we would have had more control of our resources though most likely have dictatorships. And we definitely wouldn't be living in huts right now.
