We've Heard Of The American Dream. What's The Nigerian Dream?

yes o! if am no misled, we 're compelled every other time to see how even the ants in US are pitching in to make the american dream a reality but i don rack brain tire to see if even a hint of the Nigerian dream was communicated to the me at any level of my education (formal or otherwise) and sadly enough the answer is no.


So in case u know it, come out and let's see what the Nigerian dream is or at least what it should be like.

seun's kinda right. u all oughta go have somtin doing with those guys at the nigerian civil service especially the ministries be4 u start concluding on how fair or not it is for 'em getting laid off.

the whole system's so faulty and its ridden through and through with corruption and greed. lotssa gees are so lacadaisical back home yet the same folks come over to u.k and work their butts off at Macs' here, its really unfair to us all and the future of the yet unborn kids and the prospects of the corporate entity called 9ija itself.

maybe its cos the average dont know talkless believe in the nigerian dream [i might even start a new post on that] but the issue is that we dont have too many pple doing much for the country and majority of the non-performers are in the civil service.

the nigerian govt aint without blame too cos in the history of national government, we've created quite a record for ourselves as having one that consistently fails to translate its policies on paper to useful actions for the good of its pple and we call that freak gene the "nigerian factor" as though it were a thing to be proud of and not the generic curse that it is. the govt demonstrates so much thotlessness u laff rgiht out loud atimes at the progress they say they are making.

Shouldnt they have thot of a scheme that would empower retirees to set themselves up doing one thing or the other at the end of their service years through which they would be trained and later assisted on cottage/SME business levels?, [even had a cousin who worked with NAPEP at national level and submitted a proposal like that to them but guess what, they buried it!!! ]

as per the hullabaloo about the laying off, i think the crying has not started yet, we're only in the prelude to it.

seun, that was a good job on the Word-of-faith movement. really a lovely synopsis. the only thing i find unnerving (and with this i am really addressing other pentecostals in particular) is that ever so slowly and ever so insidously strange teachings have crept into the core teachings of the gospel.

Reawakened christianised notions finding expression and being so well blended into the mix of what is fed the ignorant sheep. And its so pervasive that successive generations of leaders are raised on such stuff so that they wouldn't even know the truth if they saw it.

i'm not gonna make any bones about the fact that the Christ himself was a non-conformist, not a fanatic but a radical through and through; and the gospel he brought was that of the redeeming tidings and new life possibilities of the Lord God who was & is Creator and would not pander to the whims of his creation. compassionate - fine! understanding - fine!! but in no way customisable.

So its funny when u hear the glossed over theosophical gleanings of eastern mystic ideologies glossed over and presented to ignorant masses. terms are used and thrown about with other ancient deep meanings to them or new-fangled new angle narcisttic connotations while the teeming masses of christendom are more or less hyped to building their heavens on earth.

Its a circus really and a lot of it could be found in the pentecostal circles. as per the doctrinal issues themselves, ha, (yawn) lets leave taht for another day or hopefully thread. I would just want to observe that though the average christian would be quick to remember that "No weapon fashioned agianst them shall prosper" few would ever count deception a weapon or seduction to ever more worldly and dilutted standards.

As for the boys in the kingdom downstairs and their father below, i guess it wont be long be their d-day and 15miniutes of fame comes.

But I believe u have raised serious points that lottsa folks from our backwater country would think 2ce about. Man, without trying to sound alarming, i think we on tha edge of seriously disturbing developments. And as usual, these discoveries would be imposssible to keep outta tha open market, even if tht suceeeds, wht about terrorists, covert operation units etc? 

Invisibility et al shldn't be tha only things worrying us, there are other stuffs on tha horizon, I suggest folks visit www.newscientist.com often and often to get ur hats knocked off.

had run ins with some of them in school in 9ja be4 and tha surprising thin then was tht they wuz actually proud of it.

went by all sorts of KKK-type names , black brassiere, jezebel-girls blah blah, i thought them really shallow chics, y'know, tha shallow-as-a-soup bowl type.

i think its really coool u're not yielding to pressure 'cos as i reason i feel tht means u have a pix of what u want. Yet great as tht may be, it might also call for a li'll easing off on ur gas-pedal. I take it ur nigerian and y'know all about how it goes down there. U dont wanna wait too long and then,

for one, most of them may not be ur type afterall. 2. u might also have enuf on ur plate for now so tht romantic pursuits wouldn't be on top of your list.

don't rush and get realistic wiv ur expectations. try and get out to places where u imagine u might meet ur dream guy. Girl, u probably dont really need to be all worked up as it happens many times like lottsa girls most guys aint fretting and fuming over especially if u're on the serious end of things, so don't plunge just cos theys' botherin u,

keep ur hopes up, something special that'll make ur wait worthwhile's coming ur way, remember, dreams do come true
