BusinessHow One Woman Went From Homeless To Millionaire In Less Than Two Years by thirdeye(op): 12:11am On Feb 14, 2013
In an episode of Sex And The City, the lead character Carrie Bradshaw, once poignantly concluded, “Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back. Maybe, you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be.”
In extraordinarily different circumstances, in a far cry from the glamorous lives portrayed on SATC, a 21-year-old homeless woman named Dani Johnson, came to roughly the same conclusion, though through perhaps a more excruciating journey.

She made a meager living as a cocktail waitress in Hawaii, and was living out of her car with just two dollars and three cents to her name and $37,000 in debt. Haunted by a childhood filled with brutal and systematic physical and sexual abuse, she attempted suicide following a cocaine binge – but in that moment, ironically, her life changed forever.

Today Dani Johnson is a multi-millionaire many times over, runs five companies and spends her time jetting around the world, giving back through her various charities.

How she went on to make her first million despite a tortured past and despite being homeless, is the stuff of entrepreneurial legend.

WebmastersRe: Most Nigerian Website Owners Allow Their Domains To Expire: Why? by thirdeye(m): 7:36pm On Feb 02, 2013
Websites will easily expire without renewal when is useless or not economically viable. Even when its not viable but constant traffic visits the site it will encourage the owner. But when what you have is not doing any of these two, there is no way you won't allow the domain to expire...I can't even remember some domains I registered in the past.

Christianity EtcRe: Worshippers Give Oyedepo 700 Cars As Offering by thirdeye(m): 10:08pm On Jan 31, 2013
Untill you realise that Tithes, offerings and Sacrifices are not for the pastors but to promote the work of God, All these stories will always get you angry, what comes to these pastors are prophetic offering which they don't even announce but people on their own go and bless them. As for the cars which were less than what was quoted I believe was done once a year as shiloh sacrifice, the money does not go to the personal account of the man of God but to finance the programmes and other ventures the church is involve in, in otherwords is for anything that concerns the promotion of God's work there are people handling the church account and is not personal, yes some pastors may misuse just as well as a president could embezzle. The offerings were auction to people for farr low prices, meanwhile no one has carried the news of offerings giving to less priviledged.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by thirdeye(m): 2:44am On Jan 18, 2013
I am surprised some of you are commenting against the South Africans on this thread. Thought is your fancy to quickly run down your own country as shown in earlier posts, now that you boost the confidence of SA guys and they now used the opportunity to promote themselves you are complaining.
The question is who has the strongest military in Africa and not who has the capabilities to produce or acquire more weapons. When Israel defeated the Arabs did they have more weapons to the collective Union of Arab? even only Egypt then had more weapons, is on youtube you can learn more there.

PropertiesHow To Plan Your Building by thirdeye(op): 5:04pm On Jan 14, 2013
For most people what they consider as building plan is actually not. The most important part of a home is the interior because the ease and comfort you enjoy depends on adequate planning .
For a simple bungalow , you represent a plan on paper when you place yourself, looking at a floor plan as if you’re directly up looking down the edges of walls of the building you tends to create.
After deciding on the type of building you want, the first thing to come to mind is the adequate land space you need to accommodate the plan in reality. You have to consider the setbacks from fence, going by town planning regulations is mostly 6m or 20ft from the property line infront to the start of building and 3m or 10ft each by both sides. Also 3m or 10ft is required at the rear as setback before the building line behind. Knowing the minimum setbacks you can now check the area and compare with you really need and if you still find more space that will be left unfilled, then is good for you to have a nice landscaping plan to complement the building this will make your building actually look nicer. CultureFire Razes Alaafin Of Oyo’s Palace by thirdeye(op): 5:31pm On Jan 09, 2013
The palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has been gutted by fire. The inferno razed down about 21 rooms of the ancient palace.

According to the Media Assistant of the monarch, Alhaji Azeez Fehintola, the fire started around 6am Wednesday and razed uncontrollably before the arrival of fire fighters one hour later.

"Immediately I got here and saw the extent of the damage done to the palace by this early morning conflagration, I could not but break down into tears."

The fire, which broke out from electrical surge, started around 6 a.m and was contained after about three hours.

“The fire-fighters came at some minutes past seven and battled it till it was finally put out. Every part of the affected apartments were completely razed.

It was a really sad day for the ayabas because many of their property were destroyed. They keep their monies in the palace, Plasma television, jewellery, clothes, bags and many other valuables yet to be ascertained”, he said.

Mostly affected parts are the flats of Princess Folasade (Iyaa Meta), Princess Rukayat, and Princess Abibat.

It was gathered that some undisclosed amount of money was burnt.

Besides, some rooms known as Ile Ori, Ile Ifa where artifacts are stored, plasma television, clothes, shoes, jewellery and bags were destroyed by the raging fire.

Though no life was lost nor anyone injured, queens wore forlorn looks.

The monarch did not grant any interview as he was not in the mood to entertain any questions.

PoliticsRe: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by thirdeye(m): 8:27pm On Jan 06, 2013
Wealth is not only counted by the numbers of wads you have in your account, but by investments I mean sustainable businesses, goodwill etc most of these politicians just stashed their money in the bank and are afraid of investing them so you can't compare that with someone that has most of his money invested to generate more money. In no time when politician becomes irrelevant, their wealth also dwindles.
FamilyMother Rescues Daughter From 6ft Python After Waking To Find Snake Wrapped by thirdeye(op): 8:15pm On Jan 06, 2013
A young mother woke to the hissing of her pet cat – and to her horror found a 6ft python wrapped around her baby daughter.

‘I thought I was having a nightmare, but then realised this was no bad dream,’ said 22-year-old Tess Guthrie from the town of Lismore in northern New South Wales.

‘It was only because the cat was hissing that I woke up and saw the snake with its body wrapped around my daughter Zara’s arm.’

Mrs Guthrie threw herself at the snake, grabbing it by the head and tried to pry it off her two-year-old daughter, who had been sleeping beside her mother.

But the snake fought back and sank its fangs three times into Zara’s hand.

Still, courageous Mrs Guthrie managed to pry the snake from her daughter and call for help, bringing an ambulance and a snake catcher racing to her home.

While Zara was being treated at the hospital for the snake bites – which weren’t venomous – snake expert Tex Tillis hunted down the python at Mrs Guthrie’s home.

He found it sleeping between the bedside table and the wall and suspects it had been in the bedroom for several days.

Mr Tillis said the coastal python, or carpet snake, was not trying to hurt the child.

‘It was trying to have a group hug,’ he told Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. ‘Pythons, underneath their bottom jaw, they have a row of sensors which enable them to see the world in terms of infrared pictures.

‘So in the dark they’re going to see a baby as this warm spot.’

After her bites were treated with antiseptic at Lismore Base Hospital, Zara was allowed to return home with her mother.

Mrs Guthrie said she had noticed her cat behaving out of character in the days leading up to the python incident.

‘She’s a very resourceful lady,’ she said of the family cat. ‘She tried to grab the snake’s head, but got six inches down which left the head free to bite the baby.’

Mr Tillis said the python was between five and 10 years old – ‘by no means a big fellah. They grow much, much bigger,’ he said.

Mrs Guthrie insisted the snake should not be killed and at her request it was released into the wild about three miles from the house.

‘She’s courageous and gutsy – and also compassionate,’ Mr Tillis said in a reference to Mrs Guthrie.

There are people that have faced faarrr worse situations these guy is only playing on emotions which won't work for an average Nigerian. His story is just an average if not a more lenient life story. After becoming a M.D you can still condescend to this, you head needs to be examined.
