But I can give you a reliable qs number if you are short of one.

As usual I am prompted to write this article because of the fear of seeing a qs estimates concerning your building and for the disregard of the services of a quantity surveyor in Nigeria.

Advantages of QS estimate over others

1)A qs estimate gives you close to exact quantity though in area or volume of materials to be used, though the cost attached to the units may be high.

2)It helps to control and monitor the progress of work on your project.

3)No estimate can be as comprehensive as a qs estimate

4)Additional costs if there are any can be minimal

5)The estimate accommodates intangible costs/unexpected costs which can be as high as 10% of total cost of project.

Don't mind my earlier funny post.
The greatest mistake you'll make with such girl is to keep reassuring and play along she will mess you up bigggg time at the end. I've experienced this b4, my brother is not a good one at all. Ur phones are checked when you are asleep, accusations upon accusations and suddenly insecurity will lead to fear and fear will lead to the worst you can never expect from her. I am not used to blaming the government on any issue but for the recent flood issues, the blame squarely rests on the governments, their ineptitude,negligence and lack of will to carry out their duties has brought us to this.

Left to me Lawyer, we have shifted our attention too much to Ajah and the likes, I think is high time we look at the other axis especially Agbara and environs, that place is very fast developing with Factories springing all over, universities, and is also close to Badagry with its waterways not to talk of the new 10 lane road and rail connecting that area to mile2 etc.

Noted the maturity you exhibited replying people here, that's a good character of someone that is ready to go very far, we all must learn it. Nobody can stop you until you stop yourself.

There are many people that are surviving with N30,000 in Lagos and less than that. Our drivers in my former office were collecting in that range and it hasn't changed, yet they were all married and you know what they all have houses of their own.
My advice work a way to better your income but I am sure the value of your income even in two years won't add up. Imagine you work harder and you are promoted in that job you won't even get to 50k in next 2 years.
However this is my advice, I know your wife is a graduate but give her 20k out of your salary to start selling anything from the house even if is bread. With that I believe you will cope, but for her not to do anything, the suffering will be too much.

You can use wire mesh instead of iron rods. For a solid ground with strip foundation people do it but is not advisable.

This is a very educative thread, I think it should be in the front page too.
You can use gravel to substitute granite in some areas, everybody will not build in lagos and there are solid and stable lands elsewhere that can accomodate gravel.
Prices will always vary with locations so there is no point fretting yourself if other spendings doesn't correspond with yours.
@nin001, 7m will build you a 4 bedroom bungallow. Depends on location and design too.
