I work in a hospital and see a lot of stuff with old people.

Still those words up there are my meditation.

Christianity Etc › Re: Pentecostal Corruption: Prosperity Gospel Is A Scam by thorpido(m): 6:37am On Aug 28, 2013
There's nothing like a pentecostal christian. It's a misnomer.A Christian is a Christian. The understanding of the Scriptures is what separates churches.

There is prosperity in Christ.I am a proof of it.

Nevertheless,a lot of pastors today are exploiting that and using it for their own enrichment.

Christianity Etc › Re: Is Evangelism Neccesary For Every Christian? by thorpido(m): 9:19pm On Aug 27, 2013
saintvc: Is evangelism a necessary activity for a Christian?
Some people argue that it is every Christian's duty to do the work of an evangelist. I'm not sure. The distinctive work of an evangelist is to proclaim the gospel. Preaching and proclamation comprise one of the offices in the New Testament and one of the gifts of the Spirit, and so on. This gift is not given to everybody, and so I would say that, in the technical sense, it is not every Christian's responsibility to be an evangelist

whats your view?
'And He said unto them,go ye into the world, preach the gospel to every creature....Mark 16:15-
Evangelism is for every Christian. You don't have to carry the title of an evangelist to do that.Preaching of the gospel is not only for church leaders.
Romance › Re: Why Do Nigerian Medical Doctors Marry Each Other? by thorpido(m): 8:23am On Aug 27, 2013
80% is obviously an inaccurate figure.Yes there are quite a no of doctors married to each other.
The most logical reasons are that in medical school, you are so busy that the people you see around you most are your fellow medical students. It only makes sense that you are likely to pick a wife/husband from amongst yourselves. The other reason is that medical practice can be so demanding, you need someone who understands the demands and won't keep crying or complaining for attention so it makes sense to marry someone in the medical field too.

Laudate II: Health personnel provide what from their pockets? In which state? huh

I am very sure that you are not referring to the government-owned hospitals in Lagos or the South-west as patients are made to buy everything from soap, to gloves, medications, syringes, plaster, tissue, etc., from the pharmacy before any doctor or nurse can attend to them, especially when such patients are on admission. sad

That is why relatives of patients are always on hand in hospitals to run around for such consumables needed by the patients they have brought in for treatment. shocked
I work in a government hospital friend. Most patients' relatives provide for their people. In quite a no of cases, some are so poor they can't get some of these requirements. Some patients are even abandoned by their relatives.
I am not talking about what you heard or what you may have witnessed once in a while,I'm talking about what I KNOW.As I type this,I am in my place of work in a government hospital.

Laudate II: Chief, I find it difficult to swallow this your excuse here. shocked

The medical profession deals with human lives, for crying out loud! Human life is such a delicate business, that you cannot be too careful in handling human bodies. One careless mistake can send a whole person to the great beyond, or cause irreparable damage to the body & mind! shocked

It is not by force to work in a hospital. If a doctor, nurse or healthcare professional cannot practice medicine properly, update their skills promptly, consult widely with senior colleagues to enrich their learning & experience, perform their duties honestly with dedication, then please such people should leave the profession.....enuff said!

Let those who really need the job and are willing to go the extra mile to save lives, heal bodies, touch minds, treat diseases properly and leave their patients in a far better state than they came in, be allowed to stay and carry on their duties.
You're getting it all wrong. This is not about what the individual health personnel can offer.I am talking about the challenges of the health system. The Op raised issues about the system and i addressed the misconception about health personnel.I'm not saying there are no lapses or acts of negligence in the profession,i'm talking about the challenges of the health system in Nigeria.I can't tell you enough of how the health personnel take care of patients from their own pockets. What do you do when you have to provide things to use from your own pockets?

Bludeville: Your stories above seem to buttress my point. Very few healthworkers can truthfully say 'I am doing my best" Because they can do so much more. How can i go to the hospital only to find that i know more about my ailment than the doctor? How can a doctor be unable to interprete a simple test result?? How can a nurse not know a single thing about taking blood pressure? For Bleep's sake, Volunteer doctors do so much with little or nothing because they have enough knowlege to be able to improvise and make the best out of what they have
It's so easy to talk outside of the system than for you to be in it.That's all i'll say for now.

By the way,if you know more than your doctor, just change your hospital....daz all.
You want to tell me you and everyone in your field knows everything about your field.
Medicine is evolving and learning is always ongoing even for a qualified medical personnel.No-one knows everything at a certain stage.
It's easy to smack the health system. If you live in Nigeria, your field is not free of the rot.

Romance › Re: Pls Help My World Is Crashing by thorpido(m):
People break up everytime and the hurt may not always be easy to let go but you just have to when it happens.
Distant relationships are often difficult to maintain. It has worked for some people but it has a high failure rate. For a man who chooses to travel abroad before settling down, the most important thing will first be for him to settle wherever he goes.If he goes as an illegal immigrant, the harder it is.I won't discourage a lady who wants to wait for such a guy but it's often risky.
For you to start a relationship during youth service shows you were already matured when you started. At that stage a lady ought to start dating a guy who is working towards marriage and not one who needs to first go and find his feet.
I don't blame you for waiting but you let the guy drag you along for too long.
You just have to pick up yourself and move on.Pray to find the man who will love you now and marry you.
Btw,I hope u never get belle for am.

^^^so true. They need the bible to validate their religion. They twist bible scriptures in a desperate attempt to give credence to Islam.
Isn't it amazing that a prophet who claims to be the greatest prophet was never spoken of by any of the prophets who came before Jesus or even Jesus Himself? How come they never had revelations of him?He alone spoke of himself.

There are people who have married having different religions and have somehow made it work. However,u can't tell what struggles they may have gone through. It's better to be of the same faith.

There's something about having Jesus in the family. It's beyond religion.

Ayatullah:
Well, if you will have to off-load all the bullshiiit you have been fed all these years you just have to come out from your laziness and search for THE TRUTH, Yvonne was a well educated lady, if you care to read her story, you will realize she was not fed 'bullsheet' (as you put it), rather she gave a lot of trouble to the Taliban. So better stop dreaming and insinuating about her condition.
THE TRUTH;

'I am the Way,the TRUTH and the Life,no man commeth unto the Father but by Me'(John 14:6)

F00028: then you have a problem here.
you better start looking at the bible more closely for the actual teachings of Jesus Chris himself and not the invented doctrines of other men. for your salvation depends upon it.
I'll take your advice.I won't follow the invented doctrines of Muhammad.

F00028: Jesus, really?
- A wonderful counselor does not advise his
followers that if they have faith they can be
agents of destruction (Matthew 21:19-21;
Mark 11:14, 20-23).

- A mighty God does not take orders from anyone (Luke2:51, Hebrews 5:8 ), for no one is greater than he is (Matthew 12:31-32; John 5:30, 14:28).

- He does not ask or need to be save by anyone (Matthew 26:39, Luke 22:42), for he cannot die by any means (Matthew 27:50, Mark 15:37, Luke 23:46, John 19:30).

- He who is called the Son of God the Father (John 1:18, 3:16) cannot himself be called everlasting Father. One cannot play simultaneously the role of the son and the Father; it is an obvious self- contradiction.

-He who advocates family strife (Matthew 10:34-35, Luke 12:49-53) and killing enemies (Luke 19:27) cannot be called a ruler of peace.
It's obvious you just want to twist scriptures and give it your own meanings when those scriptures are plainly referring to Jesus.Stay with what Muhammad taught you if that satisfies you.The bible says all things shall be revealed at the end.
Christianity Etc › Re: Can Someone Explain These Verses? by thorpido(m): 2:04pm On Aug 17, 2013
F00028: by saying I believe, I mean I accept that Jesus Christ was truly sent by God, and all he actually preached to the lost sheep of the house of israel was from God (injeel). that I believe.

eg: Jesus said, "O Children of Israel! worship God, my Lord and your Lord...(Quran 5:72)
now I know that is a valid piece of the injeel, the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This scripture you quoted is from the quoran and they are the words of muhammed. You said Jesus had injeel and His words are not the one in the bible. How can you believe one is sent from God without his words?Does that not show a deep hollow in what you believe?
As Christians we believe the words of prophets before Jesus and we have their words as proof. How can Muhammed stand alone without the other prophets knowing or speaking of him?Apart from the quoran,he was not spoken of elsewhere?Isn't that strange for a prophet who claims to be the greatest?
