Politics › N23b Oshodi Transport Hub VS N19b Uyo Stadium - Which White Elephant Is Whiter? by three(op): 6:21am On Apr 05, 2018
So following recent discussions on the appropriateness, beauty and otherwise of the Oshodi transport Hub, questions arose as to how much was being spent to erect the edifice.

Apparently the information is already in the Public Domain and the cost as provided by none other than the Governor is $70,000,000.00 (N25Billion)

Please find below a comparison of the Oshodi Transport Hub and the Uyo Stadium.

It has come down to comparing two projects that are enmeshed in debates as to their usefulness, future maintenance and costs and the benefit to the average citizen.

Construction Costs

Oshodi Transport Hub - 22.4 Billion Naira (70 million Dollars - 2018)
Akwa Ibom Stadium - 16-19.2 Billion Naira (96 million Dollars - 2014)

Politics › Re: Buhari Celebrates Adams Oshiomhole’s 65th Birthday: "Nigeria Needs Your Wisdom" by three:
A good many years ago when Adams was NLC Chairman, he by his own admission spent the night in the then NICON NOGA HILTON before a Mass Labour Protest the following day.

I don't know about you but I know that virtually none of the other comrades and masses that hit the street the next day under the hot sun and at threat to manhandling by police spent the night in a 5-star hotel.

All these people show their hand very early on but many Nigerians naively assume that these ones are since altruistic.

What has Adams done in the last 8 years that would validate the ideology and self sacrifice usually associated with a comrade of no less stature than NLC president?

Yet here we are unsurprisingly with someone raining praise on him.

such unreasonable and utterly unintelligent comment.. everything must be about throwing shades to one tribe or the other. You guys need to really wake up and understand that these bunch of evil politicians do not have any good to offer you. Why is your almighty governor not restructuring public schools and hospitals and spending so much money to invest in the future of people so that life can be easy for them. they are building terminals and shops everywhere meanwhile they refuse to invest in the education and well being of the people who should enjoy the facilities in future. that's to clearly tell you they don't give two phucks about ya'll. it's all private projects disguised as being done for the public. they know they have plenty people like you who will always fall for the cheap scam.

This in summary is akin to mind control.

Simply

1. Locate thousands or millions of naive and gullible individuals (this you can easily find out from their posts, likes and follows).

2. Share content that they will believe WITHOUT FACT CHECKING!

3. Provoke them with skilfully designed stories that stir up ethnic, religious or highly emotional sentiments.

4. Get them to go and register, collect PVC and 'VOTE OUT' the 'enemy'.

5. Glide into office on a surprise win and satisfy yourself with the 'spoils' of war. The naive individuals are none the wiser.

If you say shopping mall and offices in Oshodi I'll have to ask you how far with Tejuosho.

Some will believe that this initiative makes sense. However, if you inherited 6 billion Naira would you spend it on this? When would you break even?

Governance and Public administration is much more than Glory Projects that enrich cronies.

Everyone must count.

Understand this: The only people that shoulder the loss in a White Elephant Project are the taxpayers.

Everyone else, contractor, shell company, government kickback receiver, they all make crazy profit.

Tolu was a fine columnist when he wrote for The PUNCH Newspaper. When he got his current job, I thought he was going to do better at it than his predecessor, Omokri, but I don't know the devil that dwells in the Villa that turns hitherto fine gentlemen into arrogant and insolent men once they find themselves walking its corridors. Same 'transformation' happened to Uncle Reuben.

If you look extensively at all the players in this current goverment (one may carry out the same exercise with operatives and officials of previous governments) you will find that the signs of their current misdemeanor were always there.

We tend to project good qualities on our friends or those presented to us as sound (benefit of the doubt phenomenon) we project good on them, they in turn exploit this and grow on the back of this goodwill to manifest fully as the people they are when no one is watching.

Tolu Ogunlesi?

The same one that said the Rail in Abuja didnt exist?

The same one that partnered with some group in kenya to deliver BUNI-TV that made (nice) parodies of Jonathan (apparently the guy was in it for something)

The same one who constantly called Jonathan ineffectual (and quite rightly so only if Jonathan is ineffectual Buhari is ineffectvirtual)

The same one that deceived his foreign media friends that the then Nigerian Government was despotic (Jonathan + Despot / Buhari = ??)

Tolu Ogunlesi is a British Citizen! After he partners with APC and Buhari to destroy Nigeria, he will simply relocate!

This desperate inane attempt to lump all residents of Lagos into one "We Love Buhari - We don't have common sense" group is tiring to say the least.

For the record

Lagos has 20 million inhabitants

12 million of those 20 million are adults

5.6 million of those 20 million are registered to vote (some were frustrated out of getting voter's cards)

ONLY 700K of 12 million adults voted APC/Buhari/Ambode

That is ONLY 5.8%!!

#IamLagosAndIDidNotVoteBuhariOrAmbode

No lie will turn this into truth

Rants of a desperate party member looking for relevance. They know they have nothing to show after failure and incompetence with recession to their name. So in other to brighten their chance for reelection, APC rudderless govt has begin a campaign of demonization against previous govt. All this for 2019.

However, one thing they can never change is that Nigerians fared better under GEJ compared to APC's catastrophic govt.
This is the BAD PRECEDENT he wants to set with his utterance

That people will begin to rationalise a good corrupt government over a bad corrupt government.

Clearly things were better during Jonathan's era.

This does not preclude the fact that he was inept and a misfit (it however shows how much lower we've been taken as a Nation by brigands)

Hypocrisy will hide in shame if it visits Nigeria

by Stanley Azuakola

President Goodluck Jonathan plans to visit Lagos on Thursday, 18th April, and The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) is not happy with that development.
The opposition party says following precedence, the visit of the president would most likely lead to the closure of roads which could prevent thousands of ACN supporters coming in from all over the country to make it to the venue, warning that it may lead to frustration and provocation of the ACN members.

In a letter written to the Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, by the ACN national publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said, “the timing of the president’s visit and the attendant disruption of traffic in Lagos may be perceived as a continuation of the perceived attempts by the PDP-led federal government to frustrate the merger of our party with other progressive parties, which is a key item on the agenda of our national convention on Thursday.”

The party said that frustration of ACN members might lead to a breach of peace, “the consequences of which no one may be able to fathom.”

Mohammed appealed to the Lagos governor to advise President Jonathan to either reschedule his visit or use helicopter so that roads would not be closed on such a busy day.
