Great explanation @denisfidha . That is county govt(like state in nigeria) decision and not national assembly. |

nice pics @gallivant but lets be honest. Tea estates,Nandi Hills and Lake Magadi are NOT in Northern Kenya. Give us more. |

gallivant: This Anglican church was once the site of arguably the largest slave market in the world at the time. As a matter of fact the altar stone was once the block upon which captured africans were paraded like livestock. The British put an end to this evil trade and symbolically & poignantly built a church upon the site of the slave auction. Many nostalgic of the old order in majority muslim Zanzibar see this as an act of imperialism-cultural and religious- ; others see it as a powerful and emphatic symbol of the defeat of evil by the forces of good. Whichever way,the end of the slave trade led to the end of the Omani sultanate pre eminence in the e african coast, nearly bankrupting it ,as the slave trade was a pillar of the Omani economy. 1 Like |

Am rather surprised kola cannot grow in Kenya where there are many eco regions. I suspect it can grow well in western Kenya. KARI i think were being a little economical with the truth. |

TB came as a guest .As has been pointed out both contestants have actually been his parishioners. No news there! I am rather amused so many Nairalanders do not know the extent and usage of kiswahili(not swahili) language in EA. It is the lingua franca of the region and Tanzania and Kenya are the epicentre. Teach yourselves about Africa and remember Google is your friend. Translation: Kiswahili: TB ateta na Magufuli,Lowassa English : TB dialogues with Magufuli,Lowassa Kiswahili: Nabii Joshua atua nchini kumshuhudia Magufuli English: Prophet Joshua lands in the country to witness Magufuli(his inauguration). At your service. |

Kenyanstar: nice looking pics but dont think this is BRT. Same problem in many 3rd world cities.Gaudily painted, noisy and dangerous contraptions masquerading as transportation. Do the authorities there have programs to eliminate traffic jams and congestion? |

Certain things appear so neatly: 1. One can clearly see the Nile. The Nile is Egypt and Egypt is the Nile. 2. SA is another animal. 3. The flaring in N Delta. What a waste, why cant it be used to power gas turbines to produce electricity. 4. I can see several african cities: Lagos,Abuja,Joburg,Accra,Nairobi. Should we electrify cities only? Uneven development. 4. Several "dark spots" can be explained away easily e.g Kruger park and the Karoo/Kalahari in SA, Congo forest,Sahara desert. On the other hand: 5. Europeans have completely plundered their lands where everywhere is settled and nowhere left untouched. They wish to take their poisonous relationship with mother nature whey they feed on any and everything and leave it bare before moving onto their next victim. Pests. 6.This is a good way to illustrate poverty in an argument. Nothing could be more profound. Just look at it! The diff between S Korea and N Korea is even more telling. Your brother from the east. 1 Like |

jaelz: You need to remove impurities from the gas such as hydrogen sulphide. Steel wool(wetted) can do this job well. the gas then becomes purer. are you purifying the gas? |
![]() |
Fantastic. my favorite applied technology. more grease to your elbow. i have a suggestion though. insert steel wool in the effluent pipe immediately before valve. it helps clean the gas. |

14: As a matter of fact there are. Shangaans/Tsonga are nguni. And then we have the groups in N Mozambique and S Tanzania who are called ngoni and were the scatterlings of the mfecane. I forgot there are small numbers of swazi and zulu in mozambique as well. if you have lived in southern africa you ought to know certain surnames exist all over and Sithole is one such name. Others are phiri, zulu, khumalo, banda etc shared by members as diverse as Zulu,Shangaan,Shona,Tswana,Chewa ,Ndebele and so forth. The mfecane difaqane spread bloodlines across the region immensely. More than you think. We are kinfolk more than skinfolk. We should be mourning mr.Sithole and not trying to disprove/approve his surname. May he RIP and may justice land on his tormentors. |

anonymous6: Fairly OK. But travelling to those places is better wouldn't you say? i have been to every southern Africa nation bar Angola and diversity is not only between countries but within them. I remember meeting a group of Namibians in downtown Nairobi some years back and i couldn't help noticing their wonder and amazement at the fact that they had experienced a non stop 1.5 hour downpour. something probably unheard of and unseen in Namibia but common to the locals. poignant lesson I have some questions to ask you though: 1. Can you tell africans apart e.g can you separate a Ghanaian and a Nigerian.(replace either nationality with any other). 2.How do Namibians perceive the rest of the continent? |
![]() |
@anonymous6 great post. Are you fully aware of the diversity within Africa? How many Africans have you met so far i.e those from other nations. just asking kindly. ![]() |

Am shocked at Nigerians attitude to Agriculture! I mean really shell shocked! Where do people get the imprEssion that industries operate in mutual exclusivity. Have the nay sayers taken into account how the banking system in countries with good agriculture sectors are intimately intertwined with agriculture.what about a new avenue for IT innovations? What of food processing industries? Sorry but anyone who thinks that any industries are independent of a strong agriculture sector is DAY DREAMING. 1 Like |

Wow.This is my first ever post and i was searching for biogas in kenya and it brought me here. Good to see one of the mods - pavore9 is a naija living in nairobi - hope u feel @ home..Now to business. It seems the basics havent been thorougly discussed here so i might as well weigh in using my engineering expertise. One tip i once learnt from an expert was to use steel wool(the one for scouring steel pots) to absorb Hydrogen sulphide which is the gas reponsible for bad smell. Perhaps one can insert it smartly just before the point of use. Additionally the gas produced can be bubbled through water to absorb Co2(the other major gas produced form digestion)-this has the double whammy effect of eliminating bad odour and purifying the gas as methane(the REAL biogas) is not very water soluble. |
