Happy sunday all. Let me apologize for not replying your comments. I am now too busy, you can tell that by my late updates.. Please, I beg of you all to forgive me. Don't ever take it personal. Those that know me from 'the reluctant bride' can testify that I am frequent in my updates. Things changed and now I hardly even have time to type an update.
This story is finally coming to an end. I will make the last update soon. Please feel free to uess what that present is

Two days to the wedding, Michelle Nicholas emerged from her room in a blue loose gown. She had no choice, her pregnancy was over six months old and she was getting used to dressing very decently. As she descended the staircase, she thought of her coming wedding and smiled. She couldn't wait to be with her husband again. Its been two weeks they had any intimacy and surprisingly, she wasn't looking forward to her wedding night or the love making, no, Mich was looking forward to being in her hubby's bed. She couldn't wait to perceived his male cologne next to her, she couldn't wait to feel his presence and she couldn't wait to sleep in his arms and have him placed his palms on her unclad tommy to feel the movements of their kids. Sex was the last thing on her mind.
'You are right Joel, it really isn't all about sex', she said to herself.
At the living room, she almost walked passed her parents, but then, she came back to her senses.
'Good afternoon Dad, good afternoon mum'
'Afternoon Mich. How are you feeling today?'
'Very great mum. The babies can't seem to stop kicking. I wonder if they will be footballers'

'Are you going out?', asked her mother.

Mich looked at Joel. She looked ready to burst into tears. She wanted her wedding to be small and perfect.
'I will go talk to her', he said and walked up the stairs.
'Sweetheart, we all know you are older than Eugene but your mummy loves you, that's why she wants you and Eugene close to her during the wedding'
'Eugene is just a child'
'Sweet, your mummy is sad now. You know its her wedding, the bride shouldn't be sad on her wedding day. Isn't your mummy always making you happy?'

'Then let's make her happy', he said and rub her stomach the way she wanted it. He played with her on the bed and soon she was rolling with laughter.

Saying I do was the happiest day of Mich. All and sundry that got the invitation were of the opinion that they were a perfect match. The two only had eyes for each other and because the bride was heavy, the ceremony was done in a haste. The bride surprised everyone, when she saw her husband's best man. She gave Maureen the bouquet and ran to him. To the amazement of everyone, she flung herself on him and laughed. The man held her tightly to himself and then whispered something in her ears.
'I can't miss this special occasion'
He said to her and instinctively placed a palm on her stomach. Mich laughed. She looked towards her husband and then went to him for a hug.
'Thank you Joel'
'Thank me later love, we are wasting people's time. later, you can hug and chat with Jeremy any how you want'
'Any how you say?'
'Yes, I'm not a bit jealous Mich. You like him but you love me. No man can ever make you feel as I do just as no woman can ever make me feel as you do. You know, we are stuck with each other for life'
Maureen walked to them. She was glowing and looking so beautiful.

Twenty minutes later, the reception ceremony began at Joel's duplex in maitama. Mich was almost sleeping, she was very tired and it was written all over her face. Another twenty minutes later, the reception came to an end. Only immediate family remained.
'Now its time for your presents', justin said.
'I have an announcement to make. Mich and Joel, Sarah and I agreed to sponsor your honeymoon. It should have been outside Nigeria but because joel is working and Mich is heavy, we decided that the sheraton's hotel will suit you two. I have spoken to the hospital management Joel, you are on a two weeks leave. Don't you dare say no, ask me why?'
'Why?', Maureen shouted
'Sarah is four weeks pregnant, all thanks to Joel'
There were shouts every way. Double celebration. Jordan stood up
'Its now Tara and my turn. Your car Mich is here in this compound, you will take it, its your birthday gift from me. Tara and I have decided that you will need more rooms. While you are at the honeymoon, Maureen and Leila will come live with us and I, the constructor,will renovate your house and add more rooms and a swimming pool. When the twins come, you will need more rooms for visitors because Tara and I will visit as often as we can'
'No Jordan', Joel shouted
'If you refuse this offer, never ever talk to me again. I mean it Joel'
It was time for the parents. Mich held her husband's arms.
'Joel, you are the perfect one for Mich. You passed our test', edward said
'What test?', everyone asked
'You refused to allow me sponsor the wedding. It means you are hard-working and determined. I know that if I die today, Mich wouldn't be hungry because you will provide for her according to your strength. You proved me wrong, I actually thought you married her for her money'
'Father, a test you say? What if he failed?', Jordan asked
'If he had failed, Alice and I would have given them that best wedding then locked up. I will let them fend for there selves. Mich inheritance would go to her children and they will have access to it only when they clock twenty-one. Joel passed though'

Jordan paid Joel a visit the following week. He had to, things were getting out of hand and the wedding was just two weeks away.

She left them and went to Jordan. After him, she called Justin. They were all ready to forgive her.

Joel called her that evening and told her how proud he was of her. He didn't tell her that he intended going to apologize to her father again on her behave. He loves her just too much. Jordan was amazed he wondered how joel handled her for her to bend so easily. A week to the wedding, everything was set. Only fourty people were to witness the wedding. Throughout that week, her parents observed that Mich didn't visit Joel and when he comes, he stayed downstairs in the living room and talk with her before going away.

'Yes, mich had and Joel had passed our test. He didn't marry her for her money. He had proved himself you know'

When Joel told her he couldn't visit her for a few days, she knew her parents know something. The next afternoon, she bath and left the house. She got a cab and went to her husband's house. The security let her in and gave her the keys to the house. Joel came in very tired. he was surprised to see her but she told him she wasn't staying long. She made lunch for him while he slept. He came awake by evening. They ate and made love in their room, leila was downstairs with Maureen.
'Mich, I think your father hates me'

He pushed the door opened and went in.
'She went to him for a kiss and he pushed her away'

'Mich I thought we agreed to have a small wedding?'
'Yes'
'Look, your father is planning the biggest wedding of my life. I complained and he said he will shoulder the bills. I don't need his help. If I won't shoulder my own wedding, then no need'

Mich sat on the bed. 'Tara you see what I am saying?'
Mich packed her bags back to Joel. The church wedding didn't matter, her bride price had been paid. She was happy but Joel sent her back, he wanted to marry her the right way but with his money. She began making list for her wedding. She wanted everything done and over with in no time. What Joel didn't know was that she wasn't speaking with her family members.

The two love birds returned exactly four days later with Mich sad and getting fatter. She had enjoyed her three days vacation with her husband. Joel and Mich had stayed in his friend's house at Victoria island. Bradford and his wife had travelled out and he had begged the Jason to stay at their house instead of paying for a hotel. Joel had refused, but Mich insisted and it turned out to be the best one week of her life.
Three days into their honey week, Mich received a call from her brother.
'How is my only sister this morning?'
'I am fine Justin, how is sarah?'
'She is doing great. Joel?'
'Fine'
'I can't believe you are in town and didn't bother calling or visiting me'
'I am so sorry dear, Joel and I will pay you a visit before we go'
'Please don't tell me you two are staying at a hotel when you know you are always welcome to my house'
'Justine, Joel and I came down here because we want to be alone but to answer your question, no we are not at a hotel. We are at Joel's friend, he travelled out'

'Jordan, Mich won't be happy with Joel getting rid of her clothes. I think Joel should sit her down and talk sense into her. She will listen', Tara spoke out.
'Do you know that Mich had worn a pair of eight inches heels? Must she always look and walk like a model? She is pregnant for God sake. In fact no more wearing those shoes again until she is put to bed'
Her eyes slowly opened. Everything was blurry. She tried to beam at Tara but couldn't. Her head was ripping off. She went hysterical and began crying. 'Get the doctor', jordan yelled at Tara. She ran out and came back with two doctors. Mich couldn't open her eyes. The pain she felt was unbearable. Suddenly, Everything started coming. Her past, Shadrach, Karen, her expulsion from school.

She remembered it all. The betrayal from her love, her pains, her sham marriage.
'Joel I don't want to marry. I am not ready'
She couldn't bear it. She saw her wedding.

And the after might. Her family's disappointment. Her mother fainting and her father disowning her. 'No, father, please don't disown me' she cried.

He helped her pour fresh water over her body and then wrapped her in a towel. He picked her in his arms and was heading out when she stopped him.

'Okay', he said and placed her on her feet.
They walked back to their room and she wore a short sleeveless dress with her bosoms almost popping out. Joel said nothing. They went downstairs and ate their food in silence. After eating, Mich slipped upstairs. Joel followed her, after instructing Maureen to put Leila in bed.

She went to her closet and saw her shoe rack almost empty.

'Don't talk to me. She said and walked out of the room. Joel just sat on the bed. He hated these fights. After an hour, she still didn't come back to the room, he went in search of her. She wasn't in the living room so he knocked on Maureen's door.
'What do you want'
'My wife. I want to talk with her'
'She isn't here'
'I know she is'
He opened the door and found Mich crying quietly. When he signed up to be married, he never thought things will be this bad. Now he understood that marriage isn't as simple as it seems. Even when you marry the love of your life.
Mich was wearing Maureen's nighty. She didn't even acknowledge his presence and that hurt pretty bad.

'Don't call me that. All you do is make me cry'

He walked into the room and touched her arms. She flinched away. He touched her again and she slapped him. His eyes darkened. Maureen stared in astonishment. He dragged her to a standing position and slapped her hard. She looked at him, she clearly never expected her. Maureen too stared. Joel dragged his wife out of the room and to theirs. She was able to escape from his hold. He locked the door and came to her. Mich expected him to tell her off or even shout at her. He was angry, she could feel it and she too is more than angry. She pinned her back on the wall and watched him. He came to her, very angry and captured her lips in his. Mich sighed in lust. They were fighting but she couldn't help what she felt his hands left her face and went to the nighty, which he tore. None of them remembered she borrowed it from his sister. They were angry and in need of each other. Mich too, was equal to the task, she sent his buttons flying on the floor.
'I know this is what you wanted'
'Yes'
'Say you love me and won't ever leave me', he told her.
'Joel please, I need you'
'Say it'
'I love you too much Joel. I can't bear ever leaving you. Even if I want to, I can't', She said almost in tears. How can love be so wicked?
'Tell me what you want Mich'

'I won't, tell me what else you want'

'I want us to stop fighting', she said and then moaned when his hands found its way to her thigh.

When they could breath evenly again, he picked her up and laid her in bed, then joined her.
'You know, despite our fights, I still just can't get tired of you my love'

'Mich, as a doctor, I can boldly say that it won't be right to engage in too much sexual activity at this stage of your pregnancy. Especially after the fall. I am surprised you were not placed on bed rest'

'We can hold each other and sleep. I'd really appreciate that'
'Or we can go downstairs and sleep. Its almost mid night. Your daughter and sister are sleeping'
'As tempting as it sounds, I can't take that risk of getting caught pants down by either Maureen or Leila'
They heard little footsteps and a knock sounded on the door.
'Daddy?'
'Sweetheart I am coming', he said and scrambled to his feet. Mich helped him packed their clothes on the floor while he wore his trousers.
'Daddy I am scared'
'I am coming', he said and quickly retrieved the keys from Mich. He inserted it in the hole and opened it. He found his little girl crying softly at the door.
'What is it sweetheart?'
'A monster was pursuing me in my dream'
'Its just a dream love. Come in', he took her back to the room and held laid her on the bed.
'Where is mummy?'
'She is in the bathroom'
Mich came out with a robe around her. She was dripping from head to toe.
'Darling why are you crying'
'A monster was pursuing me'
'Oh, your daddy is here, he won't let that monster near you again'
'Come, let me take you to your room', Joel told her
'No, I am scared'
'Okay, darling, you can sleep with us'
'Really?'
'Sure', Mich answered.
they slept with Leila in between them. By morning, Maureen came and pick the girl away.
'Now mrs Jason, don't you think its time we talk about us? Like have a real talk about what you wanted last night?'

They sat on the bed, and for the first time, discussed what they really wanted and expected from each other.

Mich woke up her husband at exactly 3am. He looked at her in confusion. It was the third day after her ante natal checkup.
'What is it? Are you ill?'

'Then why did you wake me up at this ungodly hour?'

'It isn't all about sex. Tara told me but I didn't believe her'
'My best friend slept with my boyfriend, I hate her for seducing him'
'Hey, don't give him excuses. If your boyfriend is stupid enough to let her seduce him, he does not deserve you and if she is stupid enough to sleep with him, then she does not deserve your friendship'

Joel emerged and saw Maureen crying. Whatever it was, he knew she won't tell him. His wife was still unclad and he thought of what laid beneath the duvet.

'I am tired of being humiliated. I'm moving in with Maureen. When you decide to treat me like a wife, I will come back'

'Try me. You disgraced me in front of Jordan and Tara, you didn't allow me laugh on my birthday, you shun me and boss me around'

'I won't listen to you. Watch me run down the stairs. Do your worst', she said and ran out of the room. She was hurting. every time they had sex, she think all was well and then Joel changed in a few minutes like a chameleon. As she ran, she had Maureen telling her to slow down but Mich refused. Her eight inch peep toe gave way and she went flying down the stairs. Leila, who was watching cartoon gave out a shout. Joel ran from the room to see what was happening, he found her unconscious at the bottom of the stairs. He looked at the hideous heel and felt like beating her up.
'Where in the hell is she taking this heels to?', he muttered and went on his knees. He didn't know how bad the fall was so he took her to the hospital.
