Jorginho made the error quite alright. But if we are to go by your analysis, Zouma is right to be inviting stupid pressure on this team abi? Why was he pointing like a maestro which his generation can never be when he should have just passed the ball to either Gilmour or Chillwell. When he was presented with a chance at redemption, he stupidly chose to pass to Jorginho instead of Kepa who was more free.

While we blame Jorginho, we should also endeavor to get rid of Zouma's mediocrity. I prefer brainy defenders to efulefu defenders with unnecessary akpu obi( muscle).
@bolded.... What else are we talking about? Since you agree that Jorginho made the error, why blaming Zouma again?

Why are you guys make it look like Zouma should NOT pass a ball to Jorginho? Check Airmark gif again and tell me who is more under pressure, Jorginho (vs Arsenal) or Silva (vs Madrid)? I'm sure if you are honest, you will agree that Silva is under pressure more. But Rudiger gave him that pass AND NOTHING HAPPENED. Did you not watch that match? Did you complain why would Rudiger play a pass to Silva when Mendy have already opened for him....?

If you have any problem with Zouma, that your own cup of tea. But you see that yesterday's incident? Its no fault of Zouma.

Tuchel is being careful and don’t want to offend any player. Even when he was being interviewed after the match and asked about the goal, you could observe that he didn’t want to call Zouma so as not to be seen as a coach that blamed his players a lot.

Na why I like Mourinho. As e dey hot, he go talk say Zouma was stupeed.

Weyre receive ball dey form Captain, pointing up and down like deaf and dumb instead of to release ball when he had a lot of free players available to receive it.

Come, go, no wait, move left, oya come take am. Even traffic wardens never mumu like this.
How do you know it was Zouma he was trying to protect and not Jorginho?

Man said 3 players were already on Jorginho. I had to go and check how 3 players were on him, so i could go for an eye test asap.

I am still waiting for Tuchel's exact words that blamed Zouma for that goal.

Anything to win arguement.

so many factors lead to dat goal and to d L..one of it was d lineup at d back was faulty..Mendy and our regular defenders have found a chemistry,, they hardly make such mistakes.. there's an understanding BTW rudiger and Mendy... in dat situation rudiger will give dat ball to Mendy, not jorginho and Mendy will not even leave d post to receive rudis pass...little distortions like dat is wat can easily lead to unnecessary losses and draws
Oga there is absolutely nothing wrong with that defence and the pass sequence. The problem is Jorginho's last pass. Finish.

If we start blaming passes that led to passes and how the sequence should have gone, if you really want to go that route, you still have to blame Jorginho. Remember that Zouma gave him a pass first. Why did he return the pass back to Zouma? Why didn't he pass to Kepa then? If he had given another person that pass, Zouma won't even get the ball again not to think of passing back to him. We can continue to trace the passes backwards to when the game started.

Bottom line is, Jorginho is at fault for that goal. He made the error.

Airmark you get time to dey go back and forth with these guys.

For someone to say Jorginho was under pressure by 3 players in this image below means there is nothing you can say to change his view.

Someone even say Kepa should have gone back to his post quicker. Like shocked shocked shocked Kepa should just vanish and appear in the post instantly? All this twisting just to absolve Jorginho of blame. Na wao.

Say TT even blame Zouma grin grin grin

Marriner would have awarded an indirect free-kick to Arsenal and a yellow card to Kepa.
I don't think so.

Considering where Kepa is and the direction of the ball, it can be argued that that's not a back pass. Silva is just by the side. What if the ball was meant for Silva?

For me, that's a loose ball.

This is agenda. Even Thiago silva that was closer to the goal post than Jorginho stood still. Everybody thought it's was a sure goal already and no one expected Kepa to even reach the ball.
Exactly.

These are mistakes that led to the goal. If Jorginho and/or Silva reacted quick enough, maybe the Jorginho error could have been corrected. But people here leave all that and start blaming Zouma who made an innocent clean pass.

They are unconsciously saying Zouma should never trust Jorginho with such passes again.

This is a kind of pass DMs get all game long, especially in teams that build from the back.

Jorginho have no excuse making such error.

Delaying to make a pass becomes wrong when you ignore all available options to rehearsal your traffic warden abilities.

Zouma had options, he had about 4 options ffs.

Is this too difficult for someone who watched that match to understand? This is not me hating on Zouma, he was my preferred defender to Rudiger, but it irritates me to see players make things difficult for their fellow players.
He made nothing difficult for Jorginho. Absolutely NOTHING!

Jorginho was not even under pressure when the pass came! What are you talking about sef? He was even free to make a half turn and pass to Silva, deleting Smith Rowe and Aubameyang in the process.

Zouma played a neat pass that posed absolutely no danger.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 7:49am On May 13, 2021
No body is even talking of Jorginho's reaction just after he made that erroneous pass.

Smith Rowe was the player closing him down when he did that pass. As the ball was rolling towards goal and Kepa is scrambling, what did Jorginho do? He stood rooted on the spot. Meanwhile Smith Rowe continued towards the ball in anticipation of any loose ball. Tell me why Jorginho wouldn't follow up? He was rooted to the spot UNTIL Kepa touched the ball before he reacted.

Who finally scored the goal? Smith Rowe! If Jorginho had reacted fast enough, he would have prevented Smith Rowe from scoring.

Maybe we should blame Zouma for that too.

Your meaning to tell me you don’t know Zouma sleeps on the ball?
That his ball playing is suspect?
Agenda must agend sha.
Even if Zouma is a sloth all his career, but you see last night? That Arsenal's goal? It's not his fault. How long did he even hold on to the ball sef that you guys won't let person rest?

You are just blaming him because of your perception of him, not because of what actually happened. I'm sure if it was maybe Chris or Silva made that pass that same way and Jorginho made the same error leading to goal, you won't blame Chris or Silva. But because it's Zouma, the sleeper on the ball, he automatically gets the blame.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 7:36am On May 13, 2021
All I see here is an agenda to make Zouma look bad.

Makes me wonder, if the roles were swapped, who would be blamed? If it was Jorginho that passed to Zouma, and Zouma made that final pass that led to the goal, who would be blamed?

I'm sure we must have read 10 or more pages of Zouma slaying.

Still the situation could have been avoided....Zoumas body language is suspect.
You always know what he is about before he releases the ball, with Rudiger your assured of passes through the channel, long balls over the top like his beautiful assist weeks ago, driving runs e.t.c.
I'm very very disappointed.
I hope you are just trolling.

Blaming someone's body language and not someone who literally was about to score an own goal because he couldn't raise his head to pick out his keeper.

donstan18:
My point exactly. He played a huge part in Jorg’s error when he had opportunities to avoid it.
Stop saying this.

Zouma's didn't force Jorginho to make an error. Delaying before giving a pass is NOT wrong. That's part of build up play. You can delay to consider making a penetrative forward pass BUT if that path is closed down, you can then make the basic pass.

Zouma made a basic direct pass to Jorginho. Entirely on his own, Jorginho made an error.

Did you see Jorginho's reaction after the goal? Did you see Kepa tapping Jorginho shoulder after the goal in a bid to encourage him? Why didn't he go and encourage Zouma?

You guys are funny. I had seen Jorginho receiving passes in tighter situations than below and decided well. I was surprised to be seeing you guys blaming Zouma as if even in this match all our defenders didn't make similar passes in tight spaces to break the presses.

Jorginho is the sole carrier of this blame and he knows it.
I am surprised all what I read here about Zouma being the cause of that goal. Like, seriously? shocked

Look at the space Jorginho have to make a decision. Kepa opened for Zouma to pass to him but Zouma choosed to pass to Jorginho. So these guys are telling me that a player of Jorginho's calibre shouldn't know Kepa's position when the pass is coming to him? Even when he got the pass, was he that choked not to raise his head to know where to place the pass?

I just dey weak for wetin people dey write here. Jorginho has the blame. No one else.

I get. But then they both played for different teams. Kanu played for teams at both ends of the spectrum while Yaks played majorly for mid-table teams.

I’d say Kanu, with his hype and potential, performer less than expectation when compared to Yakubu. Yakubu was deemed prolific and Kanu wasn’t. There’s a reason for that.
Kanu won the FA Cup with lowly Portsmouth, scoring in both the semi final and final of the competition. He finished his first season in Portsmouth as the highest goal scorer in all competitions.

Yakubu was celebrated only for his goal scoring exploits.

Na God go help us. The traffic situation has increased coupled with the fact that roads leading to most Police stations are blocked thereby compelling road users to one lane.

This 7pm curfew is not it at all. I'm applying to be working from home from next week. I can't pass through what I passed through yesterday.
This is the major problem. In most Police stations, they block both lanes. 2 days ago, Kala police station block both lanes in Ikwerre Road and road users had to reroute from Winpey on this side and Rumuokuta roundabout on the other side.

I left D line at about 3.15pm yesterday and got home about 6.50pm.
