We are good to go smiley All thanks to God for taking us through the past 11 months.
Please dont come home to sit down and start writing a million job tests. Write the job tests, but engage your brain. Make plans for the future. The job is not forthcoming & so you have to think: Would you rather start a business? What kinda business? How do you intend going about it? Do you have the funds? How can you convince an investor?
Or you are considering masters? ok good. What school? What course? What does studying that course entail? How would it be useful to you short term and long term? What are the admission requirements? Exams to write? Application deadlines?

You (we) need to find about these things. This is the real world now, & its not by class of degree. Gone are the days when you sit down and relax, rest assured you'll get a job soon just because you finished with a 2:1 or first class. It still happens tho, some of them already have 2 or even 3 job offers already, but thats just a minority.
We can make it, but nothing good comes easy. When you get home, dont relax, THINK & BE SUCCESSFUL (not through illegal means tho) smiley

May God help us. Journey mercies to everyone going back to their respective homes.
well said!

garnetty: It rarely beats my estemeed imagination that you people are still hopeful on this 'shady recruitment' when you are expected to have moved on. Anybody who is giving you any form of 'blind assurance' that there could be second batch as widely speculated is merely perpetrating in moral deceit. Open your eyes and think of better things to ponder on not NSITF.
I had since forgotten about NSITF since. In fact I had gotten job offers that pays far more than what NSITF would have paid me!
That's the bitter truth folks. Move on with life and see the opportunities available.

WebmastersRe: Joomla, drupal Or Wordpress Which Do I Use!!! by timbs001(m): 4:48pm On Sep 20, 2012
talk2hb1: What happen to WordPress?? Wordpress Can do anything you can do with Drupal or Joomla and more so its simpler to setup, manage, and maintain. I use drupal too but I discovered that I render more support to my client than necessary.
@talk2hbi: when I'm talking about customizing, I meant delving into drupal API's to build your own modules to extend drupal's functioality. Drupal has this flexibility more than all the other CMS. Wordpress is good also but I use it for simple sites.
I've worked with a team to build a University portal with Drupal before, that's when I appreciated its complexity as well as flexibility.
Just my thought anyway.
Regards

Jobs/VacanciesRe: When Your Boss Refuses To Pay Your Salary? by timbs001(m): 4:05pm On Sep 04, 2012
Edithamazoya: The boss is doing it deliberately, whenever she asks for her salary, the boss laughs and says he hasnt been able to pay himself his own salary of 400k and until he gets his own salary, she cant get hers. Meanwhile the boss has collected almost a million from the company's pocket.

I suggest she should be firm and fearless in asking for the money. What I feel is that the boss want to make her submit to him which should not be the case here. There are contracts that are implied and this is one of them.
Something fishy must be going on here! The boss has money and is refusing to pay her?
@op ask your friend, Has her boss made advances at her before and she declined? Probably the boss thinks its pay back time.

oayombo: So, what is the final word on this recruitment?
@oayombo, let's keep our fingers crossed and not give up yet, even those who have gotten letters have no clue of orientation or resumption date. NSITF has a nationwide mandate so I believe all of us will be absorbed at the end of the day. However it will be wise to face one's work for now or get something doing. My one cents.

@all, relax. A friend of mine that we attended the chat just got her letter today through the help of someone working at NSITF. She also said that The ministers and senators instrumental in bringing about the passing of ECA 2010 and in making sure that the funds are released to NSITF are the ones whose candidates are now favoured. NSITF is simply paying back a Debt. Her source also quoted the MD as saying that once they are through with the the special candidates, the list will be released. In case you know somebody that can help u get ur letter out, don't hesitate to do so. We will smile at last. (Even though the pay is not encouraging for now though). All is well.

@all, just got a call from a friend we attended the chat together, she said that a friend of hers who works in NSITF said that letters are being issued.

If u ask my opinion, I believe the letters are out but not out officially and those who claimed to have gotten their letters got it through their sources, that's why they seem hesitant to share with us the contents of the appointment letter.
I believe we will soon be called.
@all, let's keep the faith. We will not lose. Amen

NSITF, NECA Inaugurate Joint Committee On Workplace Safety

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) in collaboration with the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), on Wednesday in Abuja, inaugurated a joint committee on safety in the workplace.

Inaugurating the committee, Dr Mrs Ngozi Olejeme, the Chairman Board of Directors of NSITF, said the committee would effectively implement the safe work intervention project of the fund.

She said the committee would ensure compliance with the Employees’ Compensation Act (ECA) and acceptance of the scheme by employers of labour.

Olejeme said that NSITF and NECA would work together on the project to conduct regular audit of Occupational Health and Safety Infrastructure to ascertain the level of compliance with existing laws.

She explained that the two organisations, through the committee, would no longer take lightly issues bothering on non-compliance with the ECA.

``The joint committee is to identify and intervene appropriately in improving the health and safety infrastructure of companies/employers, which facilities fall below acceptable standards.

``The committee is to execute capacity building programmes on an on-going basis for contributors to the scheme.

``It will also conduct annual employer/NSITF interactive forum in the six geo-political zones of the federation to facilitate compliance and prompt payment of contributions.”

She disclosed that an annual employers’ forum would henceforth be organised and employers who complied with the scheme would be recognised and rewarded.

Olejeme said that NACA would function as the project's manager and would spearhead the implementation of the scheme.

She blamed the inability of the project to take off in the first quarter of 2012 as scheduled on budgetary constraints and urged the committee to ensure that they made up for the time lost.

In his remark, the Director-General of NECA, Mr Olusegun Oshinowo, said that the project was inspired by the realisation that human capacity was the most valuable asset in any business.

He stressed that the focus of NECA and NSITF was now more on the safety of workers and prevention of accidents, rather than on the payment of compensations in the event of accidents.

He said it was based on the understanding that no amount of money could replace a lost limb or life lost.

``To any business, the human capital is the most valuable asset and as your most valuable asset, common sense and enlightened self-interest dictates that you pay special attention to that very valuable asset.

``That is what has informed NECA’s interest in this project.

``Under this new dispensation of employees compensation act, our focus should be on safety: the objective of this programme is for us to make sure that we reduce to the barest minimum the incidence of injuries in the workplace.”

Oshinowo said that there shall be no hiding place for employers who failed to comply with the ECA.

“This project would make sure that it conducts audits on a regular basis of factory facilities that are on ground.

``There will be no hiding place for any employer that that has not prepared to either comply with the employees’ compensation Act or comply with the factory act.”

The Managing Director of NSITF, Alhaji Umar Abubakar, on his part, pledged the commitment of members of the committee to the success of the scheme.

Also speaking, Mr Tunji Olaopa, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry of labour, emphasised the importance of human capital development to the development of any nation.

He pledged the commitment of the ministry to ensuring the successful completion of the project.

Members of the committee include: NSITF’s Director of Projects, Mrs Helen Jemerigbe; Mr Tim Olawale, Mr Ibrahim Wakawa and Mr Weight Obua. (NAN)

Exactly what i thought! At least one month is needed to notify present employer. For Example, you van't expect a DM or SM to resign his/her employment
