ironically, given our ethnic make-up and inec figures, about 60% of people who WILL actually vote probably agree with all of the above.

this is a public forum, i can comment on whatever i like. if the two of you want to have a private conversation then i suggest you get a room somewhere. furthermore, just because you don't like someone's stance doesn't give you carte blanche to unleash your vociferous bile. if some one bites you, do you bite them back? or more pertinently, if someone throws a stone at you, do you throw one back? you are forever complaining about people throwing stones, yet you throw some of the biggest rocks on this place. some of the things that i have seen you write (i have been lurking for i while) have been some of the most vile, prejudiced and inflammatory statements that even Goebbels would be ashamed of.

i also feel that your grasp on basic democratic principles seems to be limited. is it treasonable to now boo a man?

Your vision is selective, because you do not see that the stoning of the Presidents convoy is geographically limited to the North. Also, you cleverly missed Barkono's classification of GEJ as on of Islams worst enemies. Tell me what that is, if not selective?

firstly why are you putting another man's words in my mouth? i am not barking and i have not commented on his statement so please leave me out of any tiff the two of you are currently engaged in, for i have no interest in it.

secondly, and more importantly, i have not and will not condone any form of physical violence from anybody, be they President or house boy. as I stated before - and very clearly - physical violence is REPREHENSIBLE. i do however have no issue with people voicing their opinions. everyone has a right to air their views. simple. and unfortunately for the President most people in the North feel they have been lied to by their Commander in Chief on this zoning issue so it is no surprise that a lot of his biggest detractors come from that region. you can't brazenly lie to somebody and then cry when you then don't receive their unadulterated love and support. i can guarantee you that any of the other southern candidates would receive a more than warm, if rather sparse, welcome.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (M.E.N.D) wishes to strongly advise the general public and all oil companies to disregard all attempts by the Nigerian government and security services in dismissing our latest threat.

In light of these attempts by the Nigerian security services, we may resort to carry out all bomb blasts without prior notification and then issue a statement of claim afterwards.

Anyone caught up in these blasts due to their ignorance would only have themselves and the government to blame. The same government that would abandon the casualties in an unequipped teaching hospital while their family members travel abroad for medical treatment.

We gather that some agents from the United States are training some members of the Nigerian police force in bomb detection, detonation and making improvised bombs. We find this very laughable coming from a country that cannot guarantee its own citizen’s security with their overwhelmed prison system coupled with a useless and corrupt Nigerian police and security force that will end up selling this knowledge.

The government of Goodluck Jonathan has formed a habit of blaming its political opponents in other bomb attacks so when we start to strike, we will sit back and watch how the blame game will continue to be played out by the government after our statements of claims has being issued.

We finally reiterate our desire to avoid any civilian casualties and again strongly warn the general public to stay clear of any political gathering or meeting of any sort as we know our targets.

you on the other hand seem to be running around making these sweeping derogatory generalisations about people based on their religion and tribe. you and your ilk are the reason this country will never develop.

so he says one thing in kaduna at a debate for Northern Presidential candidates, then a few days later his media aide says another thing to representatives to people from the ND.

loving the politics being played here. straight from the playbook of Machiavelli. only a few people know whats going on here and i bet you GEJ isn't one of them.

they are booing him because he looked them straight in the eye and lied to them about the zoning agreement in the PDP even though he was a signatory on the said agreement.

whilst any form of physical violence is reprehensible and should be stopped immediately, every Nigerian is allowed to voice his or her displeasure at any of their elected official whether in their presence or not. this is our democratic right; they are our PUBLIC SERVANTS, not the other way around.

remember, respect is earned and this man hasn't earned it either through his actions or his behaviour.

The presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has said he would not hesitate to step down for a northern candidate if the need arises. Ribadu’s disclosure came even as he expressed the belief that what the North was working towards, was to get the best candidate that could challenge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the April elections.

He, therefore, expressed the need for the progressives to support one candidate to confront the PDP, which, according to him, “is a problem. ACN today is a northern party because I am the candidate.”

Speaking in Kaduna during the weekend, Ribadu said although he was not an advocate of zoning, he was optimistic that the north would do better if given the opportunity to produce the President. He added that those who wish the country well would have to come together to save Nigerians from the shackle of PDP’s failure.
“It is amazing when Jonathan talks about change, change for what? When you talk about change we are talking about new ideas and generational change.

I believe we can also change the political forum in the country but it will require hard work and dedication.
“Jonathan did not pardon me because I have not done anything wrong. When you fight corruption, it also fights you back. Last year, I was a fugitive. I never nursed the ambition of becoming the president, but thank God for the situation I found myself today.

“There were attempts on my life twice. I still have my car sprayed with bullets. Since I left the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), I have never called Obasanjo and I have nothing to do with him.
“Fundamentally, the problem of religious and ethnic crisis in Nigeria is as a result of leadership failure. If you do not take care of the Police, the Police will not take care of you. Last year, over 400 police officers lost their lives while discharging their duties nationwide.

“Gowon and his deputy were Christians, so I have chosen a Nigerian who probably happened to be a Muslim.
“Jonathan is playing politics with education, given the allocation to education in the national budget. Therefore, the creation of new universities when over 12 million graduates do not have jobs is not the solution of Nigeria’s education problem. The PDP government is worse than that of Mubarrak in Egypt,” he added.

what a horrible, horrible bunch that lot are.

this election will go to a run off. jonathan is as loathed in the north as buhari is disliked in the south.

Presidential Candidate of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, has expressed his readiness to step down for another Northern Candidate so long as such consensus is from his party.

Shekarau, who was speaking at a debate for Northern Presidential candidates in Kaduna Friday, told newsmen after delivering his manifesto, that he has no problem dropping his ambition to contest, stressing that such decision must be a resolution of his party.

“I am a faithful and loyal member of my party”, he said, “I did not become presidential candidate by my sole design. It was from the outcome of a transparent process initiated and executed by my party,” he said.

“If the same party decides that it is better we team up with another northern candidate under another party, and they ask that I step down, as loyal and law abiding member of the party, I have no choice but to comply”. But as a candidate, I cannot on my own decide to step down like that,” he said.

Shekarau and three other northerners namely, Muhammadu Buhari of CPC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu of ACN and Mr. John Dara of NTP are running the Presidential race.

Speaking at the forum, organised by Arewa Citizens Action for Change, Shekarau said this eight year governorship tenure in Kano State, has left enough evidence to show he would make a good president adding that his area of priority, if he wins the presidency would be focused on Human Development and Social Justice.

Shekarau who defended the decision of his administration to abolition of the sales of liquor in Kano state argued that alcohol is the cause of all crimes anywhere.

“Even in Benue State, where 100% members of the state’s parliament is Christian, it has passed a law abolishing the sales of ogogoro, - illicit gin brewed from palm-wine – and what is the difference of ogogoro from lager beer?” he queries.

He also applauded Islamic Banking, maintaining those who are opposed to the banking system based were ignorant.

“If we were operating Islamic Banking system in Nigeria”, he said, “all the crash we saw in our stock exchange and financial sectors would not have taken place”, he said.

“It very un-Islamic for anyone to engage profiteer. As far as Islam is concern, such a one is regarded worse than he who sleeps with his mother”, he said adding that would promote Islamic banking, if elected president.
