Grace2516: Hi guys!
While filling my DS 160, I indicated that I have no relative in the US.
However my Dad's sister is in the US, but I have no form of relationship/ contact with her. I selected the no relative option by default, now I'm concerned the link can be traced to me and pose problems.
Please, what is the best way to handle this if I'm asked at the Visa Interview? you can fill a new DS 160 and submit |

Vullia: OK
VO: pass me your passport and I20
Me : I did with a smile .
VO: why are u going to the US
Me : Am going to the us for my masters in business administration at Gannon university located in Erie Pennsylvania.
VO:why MBA
Me : skills that are gotten from MBA are useful for virtually all jobs positions ,skills like effective communication, networking ,knowing how to deal with pressure ,expert problem solving. These will help in running organisation properly and effectively .
VO: how did hear about the school
Me : I think this is where the problem is cos am sure my responses will not be consistent : my boss is an alumni of the school and he told me how the environment is conducive for learning ,I can remember the previous one I mentioned a friend .
VO:what have u been doing since u left school
Me: been working with multi choice nig limited ,she said what ? I said Dstv cos most people don't know multi choice but dstv ,and multichoice is a company that produces dstv .
VO: are you married ?
Me : No
VO:kids ?
Me : No
VO: who is paying for your tuition
Me : my uncle
VO: what does he do Me : he's into oil and gas he has farms and 4 filling stations in Lagos .
VO: sorry you are not eligible at this time ,thank you so much .
I noticed the questions are always the samething but in different dimensions. The second interview I changed my sponsor from my dad to my uncle as my dad doesn't have much in his acct the second time I went so I used my uncle . you see, your answers ain't great. you don't have a reason why you need an MBA, so why will the V.O approve you? from your transcript it's obvious to know the reasons you were refused and you were worrying over minor stuffs. You need to get a clear reason why you need an MBA, maybe apply to better MBA programs if that's what you really want. |

Vullia: Good morning everyone ,I have been a follower of this page for a while now ,but I don't know where to start my story from as it's really complicated .I have been denied visa 4 times now ,initially I used an agent that helped in getting an admission filled my ds160 and visa appointment schedule .I realised she made alot of mistakes while filling my ds160 while going for the 4th interview which I did everything myself .here are the mistake she made . .....The first interview I went for was in march 2018 and school resumes August 2018,on the ds160 my place of birth is Oyo while on my passport it was Lagos .
.....the second mistake was while scheduling my appointment, there is a part where u put previously denied if you ve been denied in the last 2month and if you haven't been denied you put regular ,instead of putting previously denied she put regular . Samething goes for the 3rd one but I choose to do the 4th one myself but still I was denied ,now am confused ,I have gotten another visa fee to book appointment in Lagos is a problem for previously denied candidate .I have differed my admission to spring 2020 and the only place I can get date is abuja can anyone help on this .is this how i will keep getting denied ? drop your previous transcript, let others help look into it, all these reasons you gave ain't why you were refused |

Maryam3: Good afternoon everyone. I've been following this thread for a while now and I really want to appreciate everyone for theiir contributions towards the purpose of this site. I have a question please
IS IT OKAY TO MENTION THE FACT THAT MY SCHOOL GAVE ME CHEMISTRY INSTEAD OF BIOLOGY THAT I APPLIED FOR DURING MY INTERVIEW? I have Chemistry on my admission letter instead of Biology
I want to know if I won't be complicating myself when I'm infront of the VO since I can change it back to biology when I resume school.
Thank you you will be complicating yourself. if you have chemistry on your i20 and your background is biology, you will face lots of questions from the V.O. They tend to believe what is on the i20 as official and that's what they will use to interview you. please, ask your school to effect the change immediately if that's a mistake from them. |

Melcapital: Thanks to You all.
I should have posted this a long time ago. Visa approval Transcript:
VO: Good morning Me: Good morning VO: Where are you going to Me: I am going to the Uni of Alabama to obtain a PhD in Physics VO: What will the degree do for you Me: I want to be a lecturer( before the interview, I had a beautifully structured essay for this after a series of mock with my bro. Unfortunately I forgot everything. VO: what other schools did you apply to? Me: Uni of North Dakota, Alabama A and M Uni, Uni of Louisiana, Lafayette VO: you didn’t get an assistanship? Me: No. According to my PI and the department head, my research will be funded by Alabama Space grant Consortium, starting from my second semester. The paperwork will be finalized upon my resumption. VO: who will then sponsor you before you get that funding? Me: My dad VO: What does he do? Me: He is a retired civil servant.
He asked for his bank statement. He checked through and returned it. He was typing very fast all through the conversation. Then, he dropped my passport in the tray, I was so happy. Then he looked at my I-20 again and said: the signature on your I-20 is not legible. I won’t be able to complete the process. So he started typing again, maybe he was reversing the approval. Then he returned my passport and my I-20. VO: you will tell your school’s DSO to send a signed I-20. So he gave me a white paper with ‘USA consular......’ as heading and wrote signed I-20 required. He told me to drop the signed I-20, my passport, and the white paper at a dropbox facility and they would get to him.
I got the new I-20, did as I was told and the visa was ready after four days.
Thank you everyone. I bless the day I joined this thread. God bless! Congrats, was your i20 not signed at all or the signature wasn't clear? |

dumbiri99: Hey guys I've learnt a lot here so need to give back but I will code some things and probably edit when I get my passport
VO: Why do you want to go to the united states Me: I want to go and pursue my masters degree in chemical engineering VO: where Me: at the university of (city) in (city)-(state) VO: what branch of chemistry Me: its chemical engineering not chemistry VO: yeah what branch of chemistry Me: am going for chemical engineering not chemistry VO: yeah chemistry what branch what branch Me: Biotechnology VO: why did you choose this university Me: I chose this university because of all the universities I applied to, this one has the strongest program for the specific area of biotechnology that I want to work in which is biofuels. Also this university is well renowned for chemical engineering and engineering in general. In fact a few years ago, this university was ranked by the Princeton review as the number 18 university in the united states for graduate study in engineering. Another important reason is my advisor prof Y, she is a force to reckon with in the field of biotechnology and she has numerous patents. Our research interests in biotechnology perfectly align and I'm convinced that my potential as a masters student will be maximised under her supervision VO: what did you score in GRE Me: 313 VO: how did you get this scholarship Me: I had a good GPA, very good GRE scores and very good letters of recommendation. But I also had to do two interviews, one with the graduate coordinator and another one with another faculty, Prof Y who is now my advisor. I really impressed them during the interviews so a few weeks after I was notified I would be getting the scholarship together with my admission VO: Who is paying the rest Me: my moms younger brother, he is also my foster father VO: he is also your whattt Me: he is also my foster father, my moms younger brother Vo: professor y, what is her first name Me: X Vo: I mean her first name Me: X Vo: no no no whats her first name Me: (this vo is trying to confuse me abi lol) her first name is X and her last name is Y Vo: (types) Vo: what did you say you scored in GRE again 313 right (at this point I already felt he would give me) Me: yes 313 Vo: (checks the UAE stamp on my passport) Vo: what do you want to do with this degree Me: This degree will make me one of the few and highly sought after biofuel technology specialists in this country. I intend to use this expertise to lecture in my alma mater and also serve as a research consultant for the top energy companies and institutes in this country. That is what I intend to do with the degree Vo : (passes white paper) pick up in 3 working days........Victoria island........(I didn't hear well) Me: (collects white paper) thank you sir, thank you very much sir (runs out to punch the air and celebrate)
Tuition scholarship: 65% of total cost of attendance Deficit: 8.7k Me and the VO had a good flow throughout though I was the only one smiling. Best interview I ever did why hiding the university name? it will help others when selecting schools |

pronto543: Thank you for the clarification.
My school mailed 2 forms along with my I-20 namely Immunization History and Health History forms. The immunization history form which requires the signature of a physician/nurse has been completed already at a Government Hospital.
The compulsory immunization in the form are Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) as well as Meningitis for students that will be living in the University's Housing Units. Other recommended immunizations are DPT, Hesitation A&B Series, Polio and Chicken pox.
The Yellow Fever vaccination was not mentioned in the form. Hence, my question about the need for it. if you have done others, then no need to bother about the yellow card own. it's not compulsory. |

BIMestBabe: 2017. I went to serve 2016. Finished school ending of 2015. Don't you think it will look as if I lied in the previous application? Nope. when asked, say you didn't regard it earlier as valid employment since it's a compulsory program. you sought for advice and was adviced to include it. |

BIMestBabe: Hello house. Please a brief but important question. In the DS 160 form I filled when previously denied in June, there was a section for previous employment and I chose no.
Now, for the new one, I want to choose yes and add my NYSC employment. Please is it advisable?
At the interview, I know there's a high probability I mention NYSC because I actually served my country o. Pls, kindly advice me. Thanks a lot. @shawarma @faitheart @timetiwin @everybody. Thanks You can add that, also indicate nysc while filling it. when did you finish your nysc? |

LagosismyHome: Even with school , yellow fever is a optional vaccination and not a mandatory immunization. Schools should ask for mandatory immunization
Abeg make i learn, which school is asking for it ? You are right, the mandatory ones i saw is tuberculosis, Meningococcal Meningitis , Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Immunization |

LagosismyHome: Every time its travel season this "yellow fever" talk and scare of POE comes up ................ Yellow fever is not required for US travel . Yes changes happen so i might have old information but if its now a policy where is posted on US Embassy site or any airline site ?. if its not then it's not compulsory for travelling but some schools require it. |

pronto543: Hi everyone,
I urgently need to know if yellow fever immunization is compulsory. I'm just hearing it's a new national policy and that it takes about 2 weeks to get it after paying the fee (2k naira) via remita.
I'm resuming at University of Kansas in about 2 weeks time so I barely have enough time. I eagerly await responses. Thank you all. Go to a private hospital - Synlab in Lagos or Abuja |

Cryptomania: School resumes on the 10th if August, couldn't get an earlier date, read up on the process on how to schedule an expedite appointment.
I called the embassy to be sure of the process, went ahead to choose 4th of September hoping I will be able to get a closer date when I request for emergency visa interview. (Still following due process)
After sending a mail with my i-20, my request for emergency appointment was denied. Does that mean Trump has chopped my $350+ #59,200 visa processing fee?
Like what sort of fuckery is this
Has anybody face this kind of issue before? Have you been refused within the last 6 months? |
