I only tried making a point.
I didn't day she is out of status.
Here , you didn't understand me.
Anyone out of status doesn't go for Interview. Seems you don't understand what you wrote too, or should someone explain it to you |

Auditmonkey: First, thanks walspring for helping my friend pay his SEVIS fee.
My situation is kind of unique, and I'd appreciate any insight.
I was given an F1 VISA last spring for a masters in Finance at a 'not target' college. I have to admit, I wasn't aware of how competitive finance jobs were and how much focus was placed on target schools. I spent one semester in school, and decided to change school and course. It was too late for a transfer so I came back home.
Now, I have admission for a better school (UTDallas) for MS Accounting. Got the Dean's excellence scholarship and hoping to get the GA I applied for(which seems impossible at the moment).
My question is, do I need to apply for a new visa interview?
What is the procedure for a situation like mine?
Please share if you have any insight
Thanks When did you return back home? Did the school refuse to transfer your sevis to the new school or you just assumed? |

Brown2Green: So she's not going for another interview? She will. You made mention of being out of status. That's not the case yet. We don't know when she returned, she can still go back. It's just like finishing a semester and returning home to see your people, does that mean you are out of status? |
Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Time2win(m): 6:49am On Jun 23, 2019 |
Brown2Green: Your F1 Visa is only valid if you're in school. Once you drop out, it goes out of status.
So you Must go for another interview.
I wonder what school you're referring to 'non-target school' . What's the name of the school? Seems you don't understand her question. |

Brown2Green: I did say funding is very rare for engineering. PhD and MSC alike
It is very very competitive Not really that rare, just competitive. Most schools fund all admitted PhD students for engineering programs |

TheZed: Now the question is how many of these 2.8 schools have funding to give ? They do fund bro. Depends on program though. Just get good GRE score and toefl score. You will get funding |

TheZed: Anyway, that’s not the appropriate ranking to use for graduate school application. Based on what you said, the school I will be attending isn’t ranked among top 100 for general school rankings. However, it’s ranked top 100 in rankings by department. Also in the past, my department requirement for direct PhD was 3.70 but it is 3.50 now. Yeah I get that but alot has 3.0 as bench mark. It depends on program too. Like university of Kentucky has 2.80 on 4.0 scale for civil engineering program |

Travel › Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Time2win(m): 4:50pm On Jun 22, 2019 |
TheZed: For direct PhD from Bsc, most schools require 3.5 gpa. Check out University of Arkansas requirements, make sure you apply there if you meet up with everything. Also check out University of Tennessee Knoxville. Also either industry engineering or industrial and systems engineering, it’s the same thing. Some schools use it interchangeably. Mostly top schools require that 3.5GPA, alot of schools has 3.0 GPA as minimum requirement for direct PhD |

TokeOlawunmi: Hi everyone, My visa was approved on Thursday,Thank you to everyone who assisted in answering my questions especially Time2win, you are super amazing dear. May all of your dreams come true.
Deficit on I20- 45k School- Georgia Institute of Technology Program- Quantitative and Computational Finance
VO- Good morning Me- Good morning
VO- Pass me your I20 and passport Me- Passed the requested documents
VO- What program are you going for Me- Quantitative and Computational Finance at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta Georgia
VO- Why did you choose this school Me- I want to be a thought leader and an expert in the area of risk management in Nigeria. Also, application of knowledge is very important to me at this stage of career, the program is very practical, you get to learn skills such as R, python, matlab and also get to apply these knowledge by working on a capstone project. Also, the program has a small students to faculty ratio hence more access to faculty members and better learning opportunities. As you are aware the financial crisis originated from the US, learning from the school will give me a first hand learning experience of what leading practices standards issued after the crisis are trying to correct, for example Dr Chauva is very popular for teaching cases in financial crisis and credit risk analyses. when I come back, I would like to take a senior financial advisory role and work with the cbn, fmdq (financial market dealers quotation), sec (security exchange commission) in developing standards for our economy. The school also has one of the most brilliant minds in the Quantitative Finance space for example Dr Daniel Weagley who is an expert in teaching the relationship between financial markets and government agencies. (Basically I forgot my transcript and just kept rapping)
VO- Who is sponsoring you? Me- My Uncle
VO- What does he do? Me- He does internal audit, board appraisals and helps organizations in assessing their governance structure
VO- Do you have account statements for me? Me- Yes I do (passed the statements)
VO- Are you married? Me - No I’m not
VO- Any kids? Me- None (laughs)
VO- I have approved your Visa, please pick it in 3 working days
I was worried about my deficit and then saying it was my uncle (different surnames) paying. All the best guys, thank you for your support Congrats dear!!! |

bwiizy92: Just a point of order...but it seems we are gradually derailing the thread. A lot of professionals are now on the thread dishing out disparaging remarks to people that just got denied without any soft landing. Even to the point of saying you will be denied again. Let's get things right.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Going through transcripts from part 7 for my own interview..I read the compiled denied visas. And their opinions were a bit mild than what will have now. They gave reasons for denial...tips for the next interview and words of encouragement. And to those beating on people to drop transcripts it will be done on their pace. There is a place for soft landing and there is a place for such disparaging remarks. Let's call a spade, a spade. Some things shouldn't even be seen on a public forum at all. V.Os read this thread. Imagine someone telling the V.O that his uncle told him to lie but he doesn't want to lie, is he expecting a sympathy from the V.O? The same fellow went ahead to lie, saying he applied to Columbia University without GRE and was caught by the V.O. Does it make any sense? Our people like it hot, so anything that will make them do the right thing, it's welcomed. |

Some things I read here makes me feel sorry for our country Nigeria. When will we get it right? Of what gain is lies and dishonesty when it will still come back to hunt you. We keep making things difficult for others coming after us |
