Foreign AffairsRe: Why Nigeria Must Not Support A Military Intervention In Gambia. by Timelezz: 8:02am On Jan 19, 2017
OverhypeSteve, nice and factual write-up, brother.

However, president Jammah made his claim for a partial election look like an after thought especially after initially conceding defeat.

Had he raised an alarm during the election or before when he observed the disenfranchisement of legal voters he would have had a prayer.

But having allowed the election and calling President-elect Barrow then turning around to reject the election all made it look like a classic African power grabbing scheme.

However, I do suspect Senegal and France as third party actors. Senegal's overzealousness to go after President Jammah is worrisome given both countries have not enjoyed good relations in the past, as President Jammah of The Gambia had threaten to attack Senegal in the past over allegation of the later giving support to Gambian renegades.

However I just hope the military intervention would leave a bloody wake of civil unrest there as Lybia hasn't finished dealing with the aftershock of its own military intervention like you pointed out.

lol. I just wanted you to take an entrenched position so i can expose you finally.

http://www.nytimes.com/1991/03/22/world/after-the-war-92-senegalese-soldiers-die-in-saudi-arabia-air-crash.html

http://www.janes.com/article/59321/senegal-parades-new-chinese-armour

"The Israeli influence could also be seen in the weapons carried by elite forces in the Dakar parade, which included Galil Sniper SA rifles, Negev light machine guns, and Tavor assault rifles. Regular Senegalese soldiers normally use M16A1/A2 rifles and M60 machine guns."

The funny thing is that i said the Senegalese use M16's to show that they use better rifles than most African countries, and you being who you are, are arguing that they use the K2 which is actually a similarly advanced rifle like the M16. So even if you were correct which you are not, it only reinforces my point! That you can't see that, proves all that i have said about you.
Guy,why you dull like this?
Firstly your source you sited shot you fatally in the leg.

My position has always been the M16 is not the only riffle used by the Senegalese troops. And your site just proved that. And that's why you have been so, so reluctant to produce proof until I forced you to do so.
Your source listed riffles used by Senegalese regular including M60
South Korea's K2 is in service in Nigeria Indonesia and Senegal too
It is evident you love argument for banter sake or to feel better about yourself.

The second source was a dynamite exploding in your tent too. Senegal and 8 other Islamic countries were used as TASK-FORCE to clear the high way in Kuwait.

And you sited this as fighting the in the gulf war? Ever heard of a clean up and mop up ?
Lol! !! I think you are delusional.

You also cleverly omitted the exerpt which stated that the NORINCO Senegal was displaying as all new has been in service in Chad, Djibouti and Cameroon.

There goes your mythical claim of Senegalese better equiped army.

The point you have proved with both sources you cited are the same facts I have been reiterating here which are:

1) the M16 isn't the default /or only riffle used by the Senegalese troops

2) Senegalese troops aren't as equipped as Chad.., ivory Coast Ghana and even Djibouti

3) Senegalese troops are used as guards in Saudi Arabia

4) They have very limited real combat experience. (You're mistaking regular peacekeeping to real war.)

Mr man, there's a reason Senegal is not ranked even in top 30 in Africa.

You have not been able to prove these:

1)You have failed to prove that Senegal uses only M16

2) That they are more equipped than most west African countries.

3) they they have more experience or better equipped

The only thing you have successfully proved without a doubt is your chronic dyslexia!

You are really an amazing specimen. I said what i said to prevent passers by from being misled by you so i won't continue speaking with you now that anyone who cares to know, knows not to believe you.

For the last time, i never said the Senegalese military is better than any other. I simply corrected your false assertion that they have no equipment or combat experience. This makes any conversation where comparisons are made, a complete non-starter because that was never the argument.

To show you how lost you are, the link you posted to counter my point about the M16's says nothing whatsoever about rifles! Okay you tell me, genius, what is the Senegalese standard issue rifle? I can't wait to hear more amazing stuff from you. I have all the links to prove what i said but i won't provide them for you.

I repeat the Senegalese army has no experience or training more than Chad. Senegalese army are palace guards to Saudi Arabia.

The Camamance conflict was a mid level conflict.

Please show your passers-by where Senegal fought in the gulf war.
You're irretrievably beyond mental redemption!!!

I have successfully proved that Senegal doesn't make use of M16 as their standard riffle.

I have despatched evidence they are used as pilgrim site guards.

2. Senegal has had an insurrgency for years. What exactly do you mean by "actual conbat experience? They also fought in the gulf war and have successfully put down a rebellion in Gambia before

2) Senegalese military do not make use of M116 as their standard riffle. Only some do.

There's are many dopeys running around with chronic cyber-maladaptation and one is never certain who one is dealing with. That's why I am asking you to proof beyond doubt you aren't one of them.

Senegal has insurgency for years? Are you talking about the Casamance conflict? Hahaha, in the archives of military and historian journals it is recorded that's a mid-level conflict.

Siting that truly proves you're a square peg in a round hole.

The fact remains Saudi arabia uses Senegalese military for guard duties. Only in Nairaland will someone like you be seen strutting around with collosal ignorance posing as a military debater.

a little history lesson for you guys.
it is not the Nigerian thing to lead military interventions in West Africa, and the Nigerian Government tries very much to avoid it. A big power like Nigeria leading a Military intervention in Gambia would cause distrust and a feeling of insecurity amongst our smaller West African allies, they do be like " so if we just get small fu#k up na so these guys go handle our matter. it is a better show of leadership that we handled the diplomatic intervention. let's leave Military intervention for Senegal.
BTW we never led the ecomog mission to Liberia at first. the Ghanaians led it, but they had to step down cus Nigeria was providing the bulk of the funding and troops. and I think we may soon see that replay itself in the Gambian case.
Steve o. Never saw it from this perspective, bro.

But I get the picture. More like the big 5 in Africa having a "gentleman agreement" not to assume the leadership position in the AU.

I think it makes sense. And it's been a while since we met at "Who has the strongest military in Africa".

Thanks alot.

You are shifting the goal posts. The question was never one of whether or not Senegal has the best or better armies in the region. You flat out said they have no equipment nor expertise and i simply pointed out to you that this is not true.

I went on to make the case that for starters, they use better rifles than 95% of the rest of West Africa (5% is just allowance for doubt) which shows you that they do invest in military hardware.I specifically spoke of rifles because i have been to Senegal and i have seen their troops with rifles and in their apc's on their way back from a training exercise.

If you can't see how the quality of rifles issued to troops are an important metric when discussing the quality of a military, then you need to excuse yourself from any thread where military matters are being discussed.

and btw, i only used fat as an adjective to describe a personna.. You are the one who seems to think "fat" is an insult.
You're confusing yourself. And I still repeat Senegal does not have the experience or battle readiness of small Chad. Neither do they have the equipment you talk about. Except you're comparing them to Gambia.

This is an army Saudi Arabia has been using to guard pilgrimage sites for years.

Has Senegal led any international troops in any combative operation? Answer is no. Do they have real combat experience and readiness like Chad or Nigeria ?
Answer is still no. How many Senegalese troop has seen real combat?
Please don't all peacekeeping missions here.

You are prating about M16 as if it's the default riffle the average Senegalese army carries grin
That's not true. Only a tiny amount of Senegalese troops carry M16
Their APC include 8: Casspir
26: Ratel-20
6: HM-2 105 mm and 6: M116 75 mm pack for the whole military.

No institutional listings or military authority has listed senegal in the top 30 military position in Africa. None.

In west African , Senegal isn't even amongst the top in military listings.

As mynd44 said, their leadership role in the operation is strictly down to proximity to Gambia and not to any other factor as you may want us to believe.

It would ease logistics, cost and operation.
