TuFab: So what about names like Shola, Ishola etc? The 'h' should not be added. Their correct spellings are: Isola and Sola. The letter 'S' has a dot below it to indicate the 'sh' sound. There are two types of letter 'S' in Yoruba alphabet, 'S' and 'Ṣ'. The sound /Ṣ/ has the same sound with the English /ʃ/. This is why people always try to replace it with 'sh'. For example: spoon is Ṣibi but those without the knowledge of the sound write it as "Shibi". The second sound, /s/ has the same sound with the English 'S'. Example: Simi = rest. Words like sit, seat, symbol and so on have the /s/ sound. |

What about the bishops? NNTR: This is hilarious bastardising it as 'Ayoo Ṣẹẹsi'
Pawn - Iranṣẹ or Bọbaku Castle or Rook - Aafin Knight - Ẹlẹṣin Bishop - Alufaa Queen - Ayaaba King - Ọba

@op, your information about the 500k job is not complete. That is if you are not using us to catch cruise. A job that pays such monthly salary usually comes with some benefits like free or subsidize accommodation, car, health allowance and so on. If you want honest advice, you need to let us know the terms and conditions of the job like the scholarship. But if you want to travel for the scholarship, you must have a proper plan on what to do after the completion of your studies. Remember that life is a risk. You can go there and get a better job after the completion of your studies and you may not. You can also take the job here and flourish. But most importantly, ask God for His direction if you believe Him and weigh the two options thoroughly before you make a final decision. |

Career › Re: I Want To Quit My Teaching Job: Advice Needed by Timijo(m): 12:55pm On Oct 14, 2021 |
You are asking for advice but you have already advised yourself in your writing. Spark2: Hi guys, I trust this meets you well? I am 25 years old, I'd soon be 26. I'm a graduate, I served in Kano and stayed back after service doing a teaching job. I am paid 35, 000 naira per month. The 35k finishes on transportation and feeding even before the month ends.
I started learning a skill in tech about a year and half ago, I've gained some confidence already in web development, I can call my self a Front-End Developer now with some knowledge of back end development... I have made up my mind to keep learning everyday. I have a dream of going fully into tech and at this point in my life, I need a job that will offer me the opportunity to learn what I'm personally interested in. I want to work in a team that will help me to grow, not a teaching job where I am overworked and get home tired everyday and have little time to code.
After sitting and considering all these, I made up my mind to resign my teaching Job by the end of December. I'm going back to my hometown (a state in the North central) where I hope to go down to Abuja in search of a better life or better still if I get one in my state.
The thing is that I'd need to take this bold step now while I'm still a bachelor before I get married and unable to.
I understand that it is a hard decision to take, but if I let fear hold me down here, Many years will pass and I will be here held by fear. A colleague shared his story with me, that he was afraid of leaving and for him, it's 11 years now teaching and he is still struggling. He's married and it's now difficult to take any step as such.
I need advice, if possible share your experiences so that I will learn.
Thank you very much |

Let him go to Qatar to continue his rinsing. Just read what you typed to yourself again and see whether it makes sense. There is no iota of facts in what you wrote here. Your opinion comes from your heart of hatred for Messi. In fact, how can you be reasoning for him? He doesn't need your shallow mental opinion. I just thank God that you are not his career adviser, you would have misled him. I ask you again if you are not a hypocrite, answer the two questions I posted. |
Sports › Re: Messi's Love For Money Is More Than His Love For Barcelona by Timijo(m): 3:46am On Aug 07, 2021 |
Prophetdoctor: You are too inconsequential for me to join issues with. Messi was acting as a god in Barca. He acted as if he can do anything for them. What is cutting 50% of his salary? Don't you know that 50% of his wages can pay for 10 players? He rinsed Barca dry! Even the 50% would've still crumbled the team. Let me go him and face new challenge, let's see how well he will go! Ogbeni, answer the damn questions and stop this your insincere argument. 1. If you were Messi, would you play for free when you had offers from other clubs? 2. Name a player that has ever played for his club for free in the history of football. If you cannot answer these questions, keep your opinion aside and stop being hypocrite. |

It depends on your interpretation of that metaphorical word, (madness). The writer knows exactly what he means, and he's the only one that can interpret the expression correctly. But in literature, readers are allowed to figure out the meaning of figurative devices. In addition, haven't you heard some ministers of the gospel saying that God has a crazy love for the world to the extent of sending His only begotten Son to die to redeem them? |

Politics › Re: Jigawa Government Issues 30-Day Quit Notice To Prostitutes To Vacate State by Timijo(m): 8:18am On Jul 18, 2021 |
szczescie: Marrying off people is not and can never be the solution
Each person is a different case, each person is a new story, experiences are unique
For better understanding some are into it for money not because they can't find a man, some are beautiful and can find a man by themselves if they want, they earn a reasonable amount of money per day they can make as much as 30k easily in a day times that by 30 days and ask yourself the person you are marrying them to does he have half of that amount in his bank account?
Some do it for the fun of it, they are addicted to it, can the man you are marrying them to SATISFY them sexually?
Some of them don't know why they are doing it, they just feel like or something is just pushing them to do it, marrying them off will not stop it.
Some got into it because of an experience in life either rape, lose of spouse, family members, run away from home and other such circumstances
Some need to do it to fund their lifestyle either as drug addicts, alcohol addicts, big girl-ism addict, socialite addict etc
And many others I can't list here Believe me marrying them off will not bring back the list family, heal the mental health effects of rape or other such life incidents that pushed them into the trade.
We should stop treating people especially women today as cargo, cattle or something that can be fixed by archaic thought processes. They are individualistic complex beings just like everyone else, yes this includes Jigawa Muslim women.
Building a kitchen for someone who isn't interested in cooking does not guarantee the person will be interested in cooking. Many people today especially in the western world have kitchens in their homes some have 2 to 3 kitchens but they can't cook, they aren't interested in cooking they eat out or order in.
Solution: focus on psychology, focus on Human capital development. Get psychologists to help them, evaluate them does who need rehab for sex addiction, alcohol addiction, drug addiction etc treat them. Then they will not need to sell their bodies to get money to fund that addiction
If it was due to a life occurrence treat them, rehabilitate them, you may not understand. Some people actually think after all this guy have raped me for free so what's the use abeg I will just allow any guy who wants after all they are giving me money, help them grow beyond that mindset.
Some of them it is lack of job provide jobs for them, ask them what can they do or what would they like to do, sponsor them for training and give them equipments or tools to start.
Marrying them off is not even an option until they are fully treated and rehabilitated.
Treat the root cause of the problem, not the symptoms of the problem, The root cause is poverty, the root cause is psychological, the root cause is materialism, the root cause is addiction, the root cause is NOT marriage.
Not getting Married is just the symptom, if they get married it will hinder them, slow them down but not stop them so they don't want to be bothered by marriage.
Marry them off and I GUARANTEE you 1. They will run away or 2. They will be doing short time from your house delivering home service.
Treat them first, provide jobs for them first, before we talk of marriage. I wish you could forward this piece to Jigawa's state governor or publish it in one of the most popular newspapers. |

Kandeed: If you like keep wasting ur life away on 9ja girls, you hear?? you'll get sense the hard way. I'm kuku talking to you. The only good advantage you could get from dating or marrying a white lady is the passport. And that is if she comes from a good/profitable country. They also demand for money like naija girls. Although not all of them, not all naija girls also demand for money. We still have many sensible girls in Nigeria who are good for marriage, you have not just found one because of your belief about them. When you are talking about ladies, they possess similar characteristics regardless of their skin colour. The truth of the matter is, women need money to maintain themselves. Some are privileged to be financially independent while others are not. |
