Transcriber: is there a link that discusses this? Please send. I don't have any link where this is discussed. It's based on my experience in the international labour market. Many Nigerians working abroad as teachers are being discriminated because of this. The South Africans are preferred to Nigerians because they are classified as native speakers of the English language. |

Fuckingmallam45: Let me answer this question. There seems to be a lot of confusion around the term native speaker.
One can understand why.
Native means born, and nobody is born speaking a language.
So what does native speaker mean?
It means simply that English was the first language you learned to speak, the language you learned from your mother or your caretaker when you were an infant.
Most Nigerians are not native speakers of English.
Most Nigerians speak English as a second language.
That doesn't mean that they don't speak English with native-like fluency.
Since they were probably educated in English, they may well speak, read, and write in English better than in their native language.
Nevertheless, unless English was the first language you learned to speak, English is not your native language. I understand what it means to be a native speaker of a language. South Africans are not also native speakers of the English language but they are classified as native speakers. That is the double standard that I'm talking about. |

1. Contest for context (I blame his autocorrect). 2. Who thinks, but he wrote who think. 3. The last line, after Nigeria, deserves a period.
Las las, the Kenyan goat go dey fear to reply. This is to show that Nigerians are the best speakers and users of the English language in Africa and other parts of the world. The Kenyan guy and many others might not even notice the mistakes you pointed out. This means that our mistakes surpass their understanding. We are deeply rooted in the English language in Nigeria but we are not counted as an English speaking country. Only South Africa is recognised as an English speaking country in Africa. But why? Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, etc. were all colonised by the British. Why are we not recognised? Is this not a double standard? |

They are the people voting for senseless and heartless leaders in Nigeria. Forget about them. One even said civilians can die as long as Putin teaches the west a lesson and so many other seemingly intelligent gibberish. You see them asserting matters as if they are inside Putin's cabinet. One even claimed kyiv will fall in 2 days. This guy even knows the war more than Putin! These so called online war veterans will run away when 2 bikemen are fighting each other. Here is my kindly advice. Why are people trying to leave the country? Is it not for better living which they cannot afford because of poor earnings/income? You are already a made business man in Nigeria which means you are living above the average Nigerians. If you are making 1.5M per month with prospect of making more money as the business expands, why do you want to leave Nigeria? The better life you are looking for is right with you brother. When you have money, you will live your life to the fullest capacity. Stay in Nigeria to grow and expand your business and you can always visit any country of your choice in future. You are already your own boss, creating jobs for the people you employed. Earlier today I was getting fed up with working for people. Stay with your business and expand. If you have gotten your 1st degree and you want to do your masters, that can be done later if it is all that important to you. And if you are still an undergraduate, complete your studies in Nigeria. Everything will be well. I am just happy that you are an employer of labour and not an employee. IyaOmo1: Dear Great Nairalanders
I am in urgent need of your advice on a decision I am about to make that could shape my life and my young family in about few months from now.
I am currently running successful businesses which give me a steady minimum of N1.5M per month with a potential for expansion. I have been nursing the idea of going to UK on a study Visa by September this year with the hope that I can get a well paying job that could surpass my current earnings here in naijja. I also intend to keep my naija business running but we all know trusting people with kind of investment can be tricky and risky.
What assurance do I have about earning more and having a better life in UK? What happens to my businesses I already built up in Naija? What happens to my properties here in naija?
Your advice will be of great help at this critical decision making moment of my life. Thank you |

dejt4u: very simple question.
Split the shape into two triangles. If the angle at the middle is O. Then we have triangles ADO and BCO.
But <C is 60° (i.e, (360 - (120×2))/2), I have a question here. How does the rule of the sum of angles at a point/reflex angles affect angle C? It seems logical but I'm not convinced. Never mind, I got the reason behind that now. It's even straightforward when the diagram is considered as a quadrilateral. Thanks again.
Therefore, A + D + 60° = 180° A + D = 120°.......eqn 1 Similarly, B + C + 60° = 180° B + C = 120° ........eqn 2
(a) sum of angles A, B, C and D can be established by adding eqn 1 and eqn 2 together. That is, A + D + B + C = 120 + 120, A + B + C + D = 240°. therefore, the sum of angles A, B, C and D is 240° which is less than 360°
(b) A + B + C + D = 240°. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Bride Price And Dowry: Correct Or Wrong? Read the article below to find out. by Timijo(op): 5:49am On Feb 21, 2022 |
You made some relevant points. yanabasee1: Look at it from this angle...
If there is no bride price from the groom...lots of underage girls will run into a man's house and be getting pregnant just because they found love at first sight....
Lots of our daughters will likely make their own decisions and marry anybody that comes their way..
The bride price have kept many men from being irresponsible. Because you paid for what you valued.
My only concern is that, the bride price should be reduced so that many men at age 30 can marry at ease.
Also, if God was to speak to us in this era, there'd be another version of the Bible to explain things based on this era...
Coz back then, the apostles were solely to stay in the church and they study the scriptures and we're very brilliant and filled with wisdom.
But today, these pastors have different professions. Some are doctors, engineers and lawyers which they get paid from their jobs to the government or as private companies... So there shouldn't be offerings and tithes any more. |

I have tried to apply all the angle theorems that I know to answer question b but my result does not correspond to the rules. Can we assume that angles A and C are 90⁰?
Note: AD is not parallel to BC. Look at the diagram below, if you know the right theorem to use, please solve it Thanks in anticipation.
