I remember the day I was in physical pain and was rushed to the hospital, my doctor administratered it to me. It was so good, I swore never to go near it again. It calmed my nerves and for lack of a better word I would say it shifted my reality, I lost control of my body, my wife and brother had to hold me on both sides to take me home. When I was diagnosed for appendicitis and admitted for operation.

My Dad and mum took their annual leave just to be with me in the hospital despite the fact that am the 3rd son. This happened when it's only 2 weeks to my NYSC camp.

My mum shared tears when I finally woke after being lifeless for 24hrs due to injection I received before the commencement of the operation. They thought I won't come back again. It's touching when Mum was telling me.
May God Almighty keep them alive for me. Amen.

Operate side by side means that in Nigeria as an entity, the sharia law is functional without invalidating the common law and vice versa. As for the other question, Individuals, have the right to choose how to be tried (especially if they are not of Islamic religion). This may not always be the case in real life situations but that’s what it’s supposed to be.

The sharia law is a recognized branch of the Nigerian legal system. It operates side by side with the common law. While more secular states retain the common law. The core northern states (Islamic) adopted sharia law.

They practice sharia in the north. Robbery f any kind is considered to be a really serious crime under sharia.

Armed robbery is technically different from stealing (petty theft). It usually carries hefty penalties. It involves stealing with the use of weapons capable of causing bodily harm or even death. Phone snatching in many cases does not involve use of weapons, in many of those cases, it involves a snatch and run. But the menace is much which is why I believe they chose to make the punishment serious.
