Romance › Re: Do People Really Value Marriage Nowadays? by Timoleon(m): 7:38am On Jul 23, 2023 |
The question you should ask yourself is, what is the importance of marriage? The examples you put up there at not bizarre examples as whatever ‘importance’ you ascribe to marriage can still be achieved within those circumstances.
For the lady, people have often married for financial convenience wether expressly stated or not. In fact, it is the best way to enjoy a marriage. Too many times, when there’s no money in a marriage, it results in resentments. So for her to seek stability even before going in is very vital.
For the guys who aren’t interested in a ‘marriage’ , what they really aren’t interested in is a wedding. A reasonable man who wants to tow this path will at the least do it with someone likes and cares about that he can at least be proud to say ‘that’s the mother of my children ‘. He will want to do it with someone who’s family he’s comfortable to associate with. Because he cares about his offsprings, he’ll know he has to care for their mother so the kids can grow up with the love of both parents. He’ll be respectful of the baby mama’s family so the children are well socialized and not loners in society.
Once all of these are in place, you’d find that the importance of marriage is not lost as you are imagining. It’s the importance of weddings that’s lost. |

Education › Re: See The Definition Of Marriage A Student Gave That Is Trending Online. by Timoleon(m): 1:48pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
Jewessgratitud3: A students definition of marriage and the teachers reaction has been trending online and people are saying the girl tried.
For me though, I think the girl deserves the zero she got because what she explained was obviously not according to the context of that topic. Some students like going outside the context to give answers based on what they think because they either didn't pay attention in class or studied for the exams.
She really deserves the zero and even lesser than that. I think the writer just has an articulation problem. The answer there actually contains the basic notion of marriage for social studies at that level which is the union of man and woman to form a family with their own children. The kid basically answered from his/her personal experience either an older one at home pressured to get married or countless instances from our home movies where the parents push their adult children to go get married. Also, the idea of doing nonsense to make children could stem from the innocence of the person answering. Where sex is considered as doing ‘nonsense’. Yoruba people call it ‘isekuse’. While for strictly academic purposes, the teacher might not see the correctness of the answer, I think the student has an independently intelligent mind. |

It won’t be the first time they will decide not to act on that obligation. When Omar Bashir came for AU summit, they didn’t arrest him to the disappointment of the icc. I think South Africa should leave the icc. Of what benefit is it sef? USA isn’t part of it so you can’t try an American there, but the same USA is pushing for a trial of a Russian there despite Russia not being a member. andy244: You don't gerrit. SA as a member of ICC is under obligation to arrest the criminal and hand him over to it for prosecution. |

This here is what many western ass lickers don’t realize. The same accusations Nato used to invade Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya etc has been made against North Korea, China and Russia. These accusations include dictatorship, suppression of human rights, suppression of freedoms, e.t.c The difference between the invaded and not invaded however is their ability to defend their nations. While nato can bully the likes of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya, the consequences of an invasion of Russia, China or North Korea or even Iran is not even comprehensible at the moment. NATO are quick to claim that they are fighting for the freedoms of the people they invaded, the question now is, don’t the people of North Korea, China Russia or Iran deserve this ‘freedom’? Moniya4Real: But it’s good to be a powerful nation to reckon with sha, imagine if Russia was like Libya? NATO, a supposed defensive alliance , that has never defended any of its members in history(according to its Article 5) but has invaded weak and poor countries would have in based Russia long before now. African leaders, pls, wake up naw🙏 |

With an approval rating of 80%, which Russians are tired of Putin? Vadese1: Those shouting that if Putin is arrested war will break out. they are far from both international and local politics. Any attempt to arrest Putin successfully, automatically will give room to a new government in Russia. The Russian people are tired of him. They will be ready to trade him off. |

God abeg o
How do you live with yourself as the owner of that dog knowing your son’s death was totally avoidable? What’s the point of having a vicious dog in a house with a kid?
For many like this father out there, don’t let your love for dogs jeopardize the lives of your family members. Keep big dogs away from your home especially if your kids are still little. |

People who sabi math People who don't and cannot sabi math people who sabi math should be able to get an A but those that passed only got a c. That has to be an intentional ‘down marking’ or poor impartation of knowledge on the part of the lecturer. |

Lecturer(s).
Lecturers that have results like these often pride themselves in failing students. When you dig deep enough, you’ll find a real disconnect n their teaching methods. Either they didn’t attend enough classes or don’t know simpler methods of imparting the knowledge on the students.
(This is not to absolve the students from failure o, you are in school to learn and excel, even if your lecturer Dey mad, there are lectures online you can use to help yourself).
Truth however is that lecturers like this are in almost all if not all our public universities. In my books, they are failures. |

Some of you Obidients just open your wide mouth capping shut about stuffs you know nothing about.
Nothing they do to Ortom would ever equate to a witch-hunt. Ortom deserves every ill treatment he gets.
Do you know what that man did to the people of Benue state at all? Do you have any idea?
Ortom failed to pay civil servants for 10 months, and pensioners for over 50 months.
Ortom built not a SINGLE primary school during his tenure, let alone a secondary or tertiary institution.
Ortom didn't build a single factory but ran those he met aground.
Ortom didn't build a single hospital.
Ortom met a debt or 35 billion, left with 147 billion!!
Ortom constructed only one housing estate comprising about 30 units, each with a price tag of 45 million!! Na who wan buy am if not he himself?
Ortom ran Makurdi zoo aground and built a private zoo for himself.
Ortom ran the few functional industries aground and boosted Oracle Business Empire, owned by him. They get just about all contracts in the state.
Ortom built no educational institution but built a private polytechnic owned by himself in the heart of Makurdi. Dude bought entire streets in Makurdi so much so the people nicknamed him "Atim Dyako" meaning "a gatherer of inheritance".
See, leave Ortom matter. It can NEVER be a witch-hunt to Benue people. Benue people are desirous to see the man in chains behind bars. |
