Stargate254: The stand is not the engine, the stand and the test cell can still be used to test even the most modern of engines.
An airforce that can maintain its aircraft in capable fighting condition for as long as you claim is x10 better than one with the newest toys with no track record of maintenance and ends up always grounding its aircraft for various reasons. It shows that the day we finally upgrade our fighter jets, we will still be able to guarantee combat readiness and maintain the units for a long time.
And BTW, the US-Air force and navy plans to continue using the engine until 2040.
Also BTW, This private company is trying to build a commercial jet that will be able to reach Mach 6 speeds, ended up getting a defense contract from pentagon after doing a proof of concept demonstration. The prototype used the old J-85 engine to reach mach 3 and added their own modified afterburner to reach higher speeds.... So I guess the engine is still good for something, it might even make a comeback
And I'm not trying to dispute that we need new fighter jets, but learn to appreciate what you got!
I've got to give it to you on this one. Salute and surrender.
Lurker4Long: All these pictures were published this weekend, when various ISIS branches were pledging bay'ah to the new ISIS leadership. On this twitter account, you'll find more such pledges from other regions, like DRC, Mali, Iraq etc.
Seems like the Nigerian army is the biggest donor of arms and vehicles for the militants
NTSA: it's like most of the comms equipment is always netted with a camouflage net.
Who do they buy satellite ️ time from?
The one thing E.Africa has going for it is that because it's along the Rift Valley and there was a lot of geological activity it's rich in iron ore and probably many other metals
Fynline: I noticed the plate careers some of your soldiers on deployment to DRC use appears to be a small size one or is it the way it was designed? Sometimes it looks like it is sitting a little above the stomach
They seem to be more like tactical vests rather than plate carriers
Stargate254: Back in 2012 during OLN when Kenya Airforce KAF used to do conduct sorties and airstrikes almost every month in Somalia, I always used to wonder what they were dropping cause I have never seen an image of an armed f-5 with air to ground capabilities.
This years KDF day, KAF f-5 armaments were full on display. (Back in the 70's KAF was really locked and loaded, most of us just never knew this)
Mzal3ndo: I have noticed that people are confusing between the future state of areal warfare and how the US plans to fight future warfare. The heavy emphasis on BVR is how the US plans to fight future warfare not how the future of warfare is going to be. To better understand this lets look at the US and Russia development of it 5th gen fighters. The US is banking on making their fighters as stealthy as possible to greatly reduce detection range and the reaction time by the enemy. And from what we have seen in previous wars, they greatly rely on achieving air superiority before committing boots on the ground on any large scale so the ability of not being detected is very important to them. Russia on the other hand has a very defensive oriented fighting doctrine which they adopted after the fall of the USSR, unlike the US which relies on jets for deep penetration strikes, Russia is using long range missiles instead. Thus, Ru is building jets that have great dog fighting ability and some stealth characters that they will be stealth enough to the distance that BVR won't have a great impact on the battle field. Also development of long range AAM to be able to take out large slow targets such as AWACS to reduce the amount of information that the modern US fighters can have and tankers to reduce the amount of reach that US fighters will have. Plus, Russia has a large network of L- Band radars that can spot incoming f-22 and f-35. After spotting the f-57 will be sent and since it will be stealthy the distance untill detection by and incoming f-35 will be greatly reduced to the point maybe and I i insist maybe the SU-57 IRST can make and impact. That's I sometimes get bothered when people say that the SU-57 isn't as stealthy as the f-35 or f-22 cause they are built for two completely opposite purposes.
That's a lie, the US is not planning its future fighters to engage in BVR but the opposite, within visual range
Future US fighters will be armed with directed energy weapons, lazers, their range is limited so dogfighting will be be back, kinda like WW1.
Faithful007: Not a day will pass here without someone obsessing over the West. Folks obsessing and going crazy. Is it now a crime to train together with partner forces? At least the British are paying rent. There are many countries without any foreign military presence in Africa. I guess they are the best countries in Africa right now?
Even if the British start to build anything in Kenya, you will be the first to tell us how that is a trojan horse and a plot to destabilize Kenya If you don't like the base, this isn't where to complain. Go to the base and tell them to go.
Why are you so butthurt?
You say, " even if," because the British will probably never build anything for Kenya except give them promises to string them along
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtbTUot-Gbo British army 2 rifle 7 platoon in a training engagement scenario ,in a location in Kenya ,come up against Kenya special forces soldiers who ambush them .
Classic neocolonialism
What has Kenya gained for it's people by having a British military base in it's country? All the major infrastructure development is done by the Chinese. I don't think the US or British have built anything in Kenya apart from making promises that they lie to them to make them do what they want.
This video shows, imo, why drones are much more important than fighter jets. The Russians are under constant surveillance which allows Ukraine to counterattack
What's going on in DRC is an attempted land grab by Rwanda, like what Russia is doing. The best solution is to let them carve out what they want otherwise there will never be peace
UN soldiers can't solve it, they will drag it out, they wouldn't want to solve the issue because it would mean they go back home and miss out on the UN money
kikuyu1: Cause anyone would think half the Naij TRI services are all SOF! An impossible proposition. Any nigga wearing a black jersey holding a Tavor along with his GF and their dog are labelled SOF.
I have a great admiration for Uganda and Tanzania for keeping their oil project going despite opposition and a lack of funding.
Europe is criticing them despite countries like Norway having large oil and gas fields that they are currently expanding.
Kenya on the other hand seems to be stupidly waiting for someone to come and save them with their oil fields which is never going to happen. Either they fund it themselves or it's never going to happen.
Stargate254: I'm gonna choose to believe that wind patterns changed last minute cause almost all paratroopers missed the landing at Uganda's Independence Celebration 3 days ago.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Ugandan Military paratroopers as seen on Uganda’s independence celebrations on October 9, 2022.
Kenyans must be very afraid, because this is the army whose former commander, the President’s son, threatened to invade Nairobi!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/uHm0EeCIIf
Europeans are showing themselves to be very primitive in their thinking, when Russians are killed and their bridge is blown up they celebrate in the west and when Ukraine gets bombed they celebrate in the east.
It's very morbid to celebrate death and destruction
Faithful007: The telescope was built around January by NASA. It is operated by the University of Hawaii as part of their ATLAS network.
BTW, I find it strange that your first question is "are the telescopes government controlled?". If it is American paranoia, then you are taking it to unnecessary levels. There are many science projects going on in the US by foreign universities. No one asks if they are government controlled. Meanwhile the US and SA have stable relationships and also SA's tertiary education and research is arguably the best in Africa. It was built somewhere called Sutherland, Northern Cape, SA.
I don't think NASA built any telescope in Kenya.
Thank you for the info, didn't know about it, if you watch the video you will see that there is a reference to Kenya so there must be something there
It's not American paranoia but I do think that the two countries should tax the hell out of NASA, they must have telescopes in Africa and why not milk them dry
