emmanuelewumi: Can be fun, when you devote maybe 10% or less of your dividends or steady income towards it. Provided you are disciplined and won't be addicted to it You are absolutely correct. Leading guys in behavioural finance acknowledge that once you play the markets, investing for the long term (Buffet, Pabrai, Spier etc.) with long spells of inactivity in the market will be difficult for many people. They therefore recommend you set aside beside 5% to 10% of your portfolio to do the proverbial trading and keep yourself entertained, while your core remains buying companies with high probabilities of 3x+ returns/growth in the mid term. |

They keep amassing government bonds at no cost. As a matter of fact, i applied Joel Greenblat's magic formular sometime in March, and AIICO, along with one other insurance company which shall remain nameless for now were amongst those it placed in top ten to invest in and hold for next 12 months. But i will pass since i am not an insurance aficionado. |

Something might be brewing here !! Expect a rights issue or public offer sooner than later. The CEOs letter in last annual report seems to suggest that...unless of course a fresh investor is looking for an inroad into the coy. Either way one of the two options above is a strong possibility. |

meshpips: From 16.9 to 25 is 8.1 points
From 16.9 to 11.90 is 5 points
I will send N50,000 ngn to @jejebaba
If price hits 25 first, I lose the money.
If it comes to 11.90 first, you pay me 5 points multiplied by the units sold.
The person should sell just 6,000 units.
@jejebaba please do well to send me your account details.
Thanks When you have skin in the game your recommendations will become more circumspect. I think you pushed out that recommendation because you have no stake in the market. Many people have compared their experiences when they were trading demo accounts and when they went live with money. Even the NAHCO you talked about, the Managing Director had notified investors since last July that they will top their dividend of 25k/share in 2020 and this rush on Friday is just for those who were not aware of that information. Validate the conclusions from your charts with money first before sharing. |

rebekah2011: You only have to multiply the price with the units to know if this is correct. N19.76 × 1200 plus the dividend 2000 will not give you N27200 25712 is lower compared with N27200 Ok. I will work through it again. |

rebekah2011: it closed on Friday at N27.2, say Wednesday is the mark down date. The dividend declared will be removed from closing price i.e 27.2 minus 2 = 25.2 . A bonus of 1 for 5 was declared. Let us say an investor owns 1,000 units. Pre Mark down 27.2 × 1000 = 27,200
After Mark down dividend 2 × 1000 = 2000 Bonus = 1/5 × 1000 = 200
Price after Mark down 27.2 -2 =25.2 ×5/6= 21
27.2×1000 = 27200 21×1200 + 2000 =27200 For each stock with assumed closing price of @ 27.2 1 for 5 is 20% mark down = N5.4 Dividend is another N2 mark down Total Markdown is N7.4 Price after mark down is N27.2 - 7.4 = N19.76. All mark down actions will be on the closing price on the qualification date. My thoughts. More opinions please. |

The Brewery Sector has faced significant challenges in recent times caused by increased excise tax, changing consumer preferences and lower disposable income. Nevertheless for the following...
International Breweries - Battered from all sides in the last 18 months or so, the price appears to be at consolidation stage at its long term support level. I advice investors to have this on their watchlists. There remains a very small probability prices could drop to sub N4, otherwise it will range at current price levels into Q3. A number of interesting things to watch out for is return to marginal profitability by Q3 20 as debt service commitments drops materially after successful rights issue. Debt/Equity ratio moved from 2.24 in January 2018 to 6.18 in December 2018 to 35.32 in December 2019. It now stands at 0.65 as of March 2020 which is not ideal but a great improvement from past periods. Rights issue effect was applied 100% to reduce debt. Revenue is not challenged but the company will need to focus on operational efficiency to make headway. Attention is being paid to this with wholesale change in management between late 2019 to now. Finally, they need to figure out how to stay out of NBs way. Have this on your watchlist but this is not an advice to jump in now. Strictly not for JIJO folks as there is no room to maneuver here.
Champion Breweries - Fundamentals are okay with ready made market. Not recommended for long term holding. For Jijoist, if you can, jump in at 0.75k - 0.78k and plan to exit at 0.99k - N1.00 range. I believe these price ranges are all possible before year end. Another approach is to look at that 99k exit price and pick you entry based on returns preference.
Guinness - This can get to 28.49 in next few months if not weeks if market divergence from overall economy trend continues.
Remember, do your diligence or get alternative opinions on these companies and their likely price actions before taking any action yourself. |

RabbiDoracle: Ok.
Let me forecast mine.
I have done that of bitcoin.
Once Zenith breaks 18.50 resistance in June 2020, it should do 2 things :
(1)heads straight to 21.50 and and Bounce backwards to 19
(2) trades sideways at 18+ for some weeks before it fires off again.
The first target is 21. I believe it can do 21 between now and July 2020. At 21, Zenith goes to canteen in Lokoja to eat Nkwobi and Isi-ewu and flush it down with 3 bottles of Big stout to prepare for the journey ahead @ bolded makes sense. I have that figure at 18.90 though and i see it staying there for a while. |

jideflash: The result is not bad at all. the only issue here is the reduction in dividend declared which was expected due to the current economic risk. They will have to make provision for FX devaluation (which will affect cost of imported spare-parts and loan servicing for new aircrafts) and also prepare for slowdown in the oil market, as nigeria has cut production level. So this is them been conservative.

Godlylifeoneart: THE DRUM IS BEATING. Recently, there is a new campaign for brokerage firms to merge and recapitalize. The proponents of the campaign opined that less than 10 stock brokerage firms are responsible for 80% of equity transactions in the Nigeria boss. Should this proposal of RECAPITALIZATION / MERGING sees the light of the day, it means the retail traders are in for high brokerage commissions. Presently, the commission ranges from 0.5% to 1.35% I wonder why the terrible government of the North always make things hard for the productive people of Southern Nigeria. We do the work, earn the money, pay the tax, spend by the directionless government of Northern Nigeria. It took a determined campaign by the Olusegun Obasanjo regime in 1999 to lure the present generation of retail investors to the market. Now that our generation has embraced the market in our quest for financial freedom, the body language of this government of the North is to make us pay more brokerage fee. I can recall, VAT was removed on equity investment and transaction in an effort to encourage retail investors to participate more actively in the market. Recent statistics shows that the domestic investors participation in the market currently stood at 54% vs 46% for Foreign investors. Should government insist on the recapitalization and merger, who will pay the imminent increase in brokerage fee that will accompany such exercise? I have no apology, this government is blind and deaf. She does not listen to people. Her personal interest of Northernisation of the whole Nigeria is the interest of the country. In Nigerdelta, where the mainstay economy of Nigeria is located, we have no gut. The official language in NNPC is now HAUSA. All the top management positions, 23 out of 26 is filled by hausa fulani. To worsen the matter, the graduate trainee scheme was essentially reserved for the candidates from Northern Nigeria. Buhari has destroyed Nigeria. After removing the VATs holiday that was introduced by GEJ, he is bent on making us to pay more. What is left for our deaf president is to rechristened the nation FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF THE NORTH. NO apology for any of the readers of this view from the North. Speak to your people, tell them Nigeria does not belongs to only the descendants of othman danfodio. It belongs to us all. After destroying everything in Nigeria, Buhari is bent on destroying the NSE and SEC. Go ahead, we are fully diversified. NYSE, LSE many of us are already there. No one is insulting the wicked northerners, they are the one insulting and destroying the nation. Your President sacks a southerner, he replaces with a northerner. He sacks a northerner, he replaces with a northerner. You shout one Nigeria while you believe in only Northern Nigeria. You have grossly divided this nation. We are marching on. You cannot be in power forever. The glorious days of NSE shall return after the expiration of Buhari tenure. Frankly i am yet to pick up any signals about the proposed recapitalization of brokerage firms. If it is in the works it will be counter productive for retail investors and fair competition. A counter lobby group needs to spring up to stop it. You are absolutely spot on about your observations on trend of appointments. Better suited for politics section. Lastly, we can make solid points without being abusive or denigrating any tribe or group of persons. |

Got some books, still reading and watching videos like you said... Quite informative and interesting... One of my biggest painpoints was not knowing when to exit a position. I pat my self on the back for rights picks but somehow I hold on for too long and it goes up and drops right back.
