The Imam of Idi-Omo Mosque, Ilare, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Alhaji AbduLateef Adesiyan, and three other worshippers have sustained injuries after an attack on their mosque by traditionalists participating in an ‘Oro’ festival in the town. It was gathered that the incident happened around 4 pm Thursday when Muslims were preparing for Ashri prayers. An eyewitness, Malam Bashir AbdulAzeez, said the incident was not the first one, saying that the traditionalists had attacked Muslims at the Ife Central Mosque sometime ago, beating them with a cane. Narrating how the Thursday attack occurred, AbdulAzeez explained that the traditionalists ordered that people should stay indoors between 2 and 7 pm, noting that the Imam had gone to the palace to plead with them that they should allow Muslims to practise at least for the sake of Ramadan. “They later went to the mosque at Idi-Omo where Muslims were performing ablution inside the fence. They said people should leave the ablution place and go inside the mosque. Imam Alhaji AbduLateef Adesiyan was coming to the mosque at that time. One of them beat Imam with a cane to go back home. They beat Imam and hit him with a rod beside his eyes. The Muslims ran away immediately. “I was doing a video coverage when one of them attempted to seize my phone but I resisted him. “I called the Chief Imam when I discovered that four persons have been wounded and we went to report to the palace. They followed Imam to the mosque. But the issue became noisy. Some Muslims came out, and when the traditionalists saw that the Muslims were coming out en masse, they went away.” Spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident. He said: “We deployed our men to the scene and normalcy has returned to the area while we have commenced investigation to the alleged invasion of the mosque. Meanwhile, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, in an announcement made by Lowa Adimula, said there would be spiritual cleansing between 1pm and 7pm on Thursday from Obatala Shrine, behind the Palace to Ooni Ilare, Sabo Road 7, and warned both indigenes and non-indigenes to stay indoors. Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, on Friday, said the Ife Traditional Council was on top of the matter. Speaking through his spokesperson, Moses Olafare, the monarch said: “The leadership of the Muslim community in Ife is also involved in the peace meeting currently ongoing. Muslim, traditionalists, and Christians living in the town have been cohabiting in peace for centuries,” he added. https://sunnewsonline.com/imam-others-injured-as-traditionalists-attack-mosque-in-osun/ |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I71QK0q5Ki8 ‘Mr Yakubu’: Judge on wheelchair accepted bribes to compromise election petition in new Falz video Messrs Ariwoola and Tinubu had planned their trips a week apart and had the Supreme Court’s head disguised as a physically challenged man to facilitate the meeting without arousing suspicion. Popular rapper, Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, has released the video of his new single titled ‘Mr Yakubu’ in which he featured Olanrewaju Ogunmefun popularly known as Vector. The song mirrored a Peoples Gazette exclusive which exposed plans of a secret meeting between President-elect Bola Tinubu and Chief Justice Kayode Ariwoola in London. Messrs Ariwoola and Tinubu had planned their trips a week apart and had the Supreme Court’s head disguise as a physically challenged man to facilitate the meeting without arousing suspicion from the public. As characters deliberate over the conduct of the elections in the video, the judge adjudicating election matters was wheeled in into the scene on a wheelchair accurately depicting the pictures of Mr Ariwoola’s London sighting which has now flooded the internet. Mr Ogunmefun, popularly known as Vector, said that Mr Ariwoola would go down in history as the judge in whose hands the law died, highlighting the judge’s untoward relationship with politicians. “Who killed the law, who will people ask,” Vector asked rhetorically as the camera pointed towards the judge. Highlighting the possible financial inducements of judicial officers, Falz said the judge had been bribed to maintain Mr Tinubu’s widely disputed electoral victory. “Thank you my lord, I respect you my lord… since he has paid, you have hurriedly written it [the judgement] and you said he has been elected, they should bring the crown,” he said. The song also drove home the perceived role of Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the elections. Mr Yakubu and his commission continue to face fierce public disapproval over the announced results of the election. Several candidates have accused the electoral chairman of conniving with the ruling party and the president-elect to subvert the will of the public by all means, including internal sabotage. ‘Mr Yakubu’ also criticised the poor conduct of the election in which there was a massive failure of the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the suspicious downtime of the electoral commission’s server, thwarting the stipulated rule of uploading results from various polling units to increase transparency. ‘Mr Yakubu’ posits that the election did not reflect the N305 billion – Nigeria’s highest election budget in modern times – that was spent on the exercise. “Mr Yakubu don’t behave like a fraudster… the 300 billion you collected from the government, what did you do with it?” the song rhetorically asked in its lyrics. “You wrote fake figures, the portal shut down, and you’re lying to us that somebody hacked it… Mr Yakubu don’t be a fraudster,” it added. Vector criticised the ruling party’s claim that the election was free and fair. According to him, the impropriety was obvious beyond what anyone could deny. The song also highlighted several factors that were at play during the election season including violence and improper religious, tribal and ethnic divisions which were employed by politicians to secure their bases. https://gazettengr.com/mr-yakubu-judge-on-wheelchair-accepted-bribes-to-compromise-election-petition-in-new-falz-video/ |

Alleged Perjury: Group Faults CJ’s Transfer Of Suit Against President-elect by Kunle Olasanmi A civil society group, the Incorporated Trustees of Advocacy for Social Rights Advancement and Development Initiative (ASRADI), has demanded explanation from Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Terhemba Tsoho over the transfer of its ongoing case before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon to another judge. The group in a letter dated March 28 and signed by its executive director, Mr Adeolu Oyinlola, said that, “We are in a quandary as to what could have actuated this curious move”. The letter titled: RE: Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/2197/2022, between the incorporated trustees of advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative and the Inspector General of Police, reads, “We are constrained to seek clarification from you on why the matter captioned above was transferred from Hon. Justice Mobolaji O. Olajuwon who granted us Leave to bring an Application for an Order of judicial review, on January 12, 2023. “The matter was initially slated for hearing on February 16, 2023 but for reasons which were not apparent to us at the time, it was not heard; while another hearing date was fixed for March 27. On getting to Court on the said March 27, counsel was verbally informed that the matter had been transferred to another Judge. “In a similar vein, another matter of ours (SUIT No. FHC/ABJ/CS/259/2023) which was assigned to Court 13 is yet to be given a date for hearing of the Motion Exparte since early February. Lest the impression be created -wittingly or unwittingly that we are in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, where all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others, we appeal to you to use your good offices to remedy these anomalies, if there is not more to all this than meets the eye”. Justice Olajuwon had in January 2023 granted ASRADI’s application seeking to compel the Inspector General (IG) of Police to investigate the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu over allegations bordering on perjury. ASRADI had in an ex-parte motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/2197/2022, sought for leave of the court to bring an application for an order of judicial review, compelling the Inspector General of Police to investigate Tinubu in respect of his educational qualification claims submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 1999. In the motion dated and filed November 25, 2022, the group had stated that the legal action was necessitated by the failure of the IG to investigate allegations of perjury brought against the then All Progressives Congress (APC’s) presidential candidate. According to the applicant, up till the time of coming to court, the respondent has “willfully refused to investigate and / or prosecute Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the offence of perjury where he is found culpable”. The applicant in its letter dated November 1, 2022 and signed by Adeolu Oyinlola, had asked the IG to “cause an investigation into this allegation of ours within two weeks of the receipt of this correspondence, and initiate prosecution if it is established that he swore to an affidavit – knowing full well that what he stated therein was and is false”. The applicant in the letter titled: Investigation of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Lying on Oath told the court that its findings revealed that the APC presidential candidate “lied on oath in every material particular. As a matter of fact, St. Paul Aroloya (Lagos) has never existed”. According to the group, documents it obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding Tinibu’s form CF 001 submitted in aid of his qualification to contest the position of Governor, Lagos State in 1999 listed St. Paul Aroloya (Lagos), Children Home School, Ibadan and University of Chicago as institutions Tinubu attended. The applicant however argued that the non-disclosure by Tinubu in the INEC Form CF 001 of the qualification he got in respect of the primary school he attended after stating he attended St. Paul Aroloya, Children Home School Ibadan, 1958 – 1964 is a gap that needs to be investigated by the police because the said school never existed at the time he claimed he attended same or at any time for that matter. While stating that the respondent is under constitutional and statutory obligation / duty to investigate Tinubu for the alleged offence of perjury, the applicant submitted that it will be in the interest of justice to compel the police to investigate the presidential candidate for the alleged crime. According to the group, due to the actions / inactions of the police over the matter, Tinubu “is walking free without answering to his past deeds and is contesting for the presidency of Nigeria with dubious educational qualification claims”, adding that the police had no justification for refusing to investigate Tinubu for the alleged crime. Amongst the reliefs sought from the court is a declaration that by virtue of Section 215(1) (a) and 2 of the Constitution and Sections 7(1), 31 and 32 of the Nigeria Police Act, 2020, the IG is under both constitutional and statutory obligation to investigate Tinubu for the offence of perjury contained in the INEC Form CF 001, sworn to by him on December 20, 1999, regarding his educational qualification. The applicant subsequently prayed for an Order of Mandamus compelling the respondent to investigate the filings made by Tinubu and where he is found culpable to be referred to the Attorney General of the Federation for prosecution. In his ruling on the ex-parte motion on January 12, 2023, Justice Olajuwon held that after reading the supporting affidavit deposed to by Adeolu Oyinlola and hearing applicant’s lawyer, Chukwunweike Okafor, “An order is hereby made granting leave of the applicant to apply for judicial review by way of mandamus compelling the respondent in this case, the Inspector General of Police to investigate the filings made by Tinubu in respect of his educational qualification contained in the INEC Form CF 001 sworn to by him on December 20, 1999. https://leadership.ng/alleged-perjury-group-faults-cjs-transfer-of-suit-against-president-elect/ |
U.S. may designate Nigeria state sponsor of narcotics trafficking over Tinubu’s drug crimes in Chicago : Lawyer The administration of incoming president Bola Tinubu, who forfeited $460,000 to the United States government over drug trafficking and money laundering crimes in 1993, puts Nigeria at risk of being designated a narcotics state sponsor in accordance with the Kingpin Act 1999, Peoples Gazette has learnt. The Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act was passed in 1999 to combat international drug trafficking and impose sanctions on “significant foreign narcotics traffickers” and “entities” found guilty of the economic crime. The Act prohibits traffickers and their businesses once they are identified from benefiting from the American financial system Citing Section 1904 of The Act, Abdul Mahmud, a lawyer acquainted with the U.S. laws, said The Act only applies to foreign persons or companies but that it doesn’t recognise a nation or state as a “foreign entity.” “Foreign entity, by the definition given by the Act, includes companies, enterprises, businesses, partnership, joint venture, etc,” Mr Mahmud explained to The Gazette. “So technically under the Act, no direct action can be taken against a national state as Section 1907 specifically states that foreign person doesn’t include a foreign state,” he added. However, he explained a clause that could implicate Nigeria as a sovereign state, asserting the provisions of Section 1904 of The Act gave U.S. the right to cite a sitting president (being a foreign person with immunity) for “blocking and prohibition(sic) sanctions.” Section 1904 (a) of the Kingpin Act states that “a significant foreign narcotics trafficker publicly identified in the report required under subsection (b) or (h)(1) of section 1903 of this title and foreign persons designated by the Secretary of the Treasury pursuant to subsection (b) of this section shall be subject to any and all sanctions as authorized by this chapter.” But the inability to sanction a sitting president who enjoys immunity may cause the American government to designate the nation a narcos state, a move that would further dent Nigeria’s already tainted reputation on the global map. “The diplomatic implications of such an action is huge, considering the image problems it creates for the nation state,” Mr Mahmud stressed. “Yes, possibility then that (sic) exists that a national state can be categorised as a narco state if the national state takes steps to forestall the implementation of the Act as regards its president,” the lawyer asserted. Last year, the Northern District Court of Illinois released documents detailing Mr Tinubu’s 1993 legal battles with United States authorities over drug-related and money laundering charges. The president-elect’s allies have tried to fend off attacks from critics and citizens who seek the truth over the haunting past of the man set to be sworn in as the nation’s leader come May 29. The U.S. government in July 1993 had sought from Mr Tinubu a forfeiture of proceeds of narcotics going up to $460,000. https://gazettengr.com/u-s-may-designate-nigeria-state-sponsor-of-narcotics-trafficking-over-tinubus-drug-crimes-in-chicago-lawyer/ |
In the picture attached, you will find Festus Keyamo with the Notorious FBI most wanted Jerry Ikogho. For those who may not know: Jerry Ikogho was the number three suspect on FBI's wanted list of suspected fraudsters which surfaced online in late 2019. Festus Keyamo went viral for allegedly refusing to denounce his relationship with the suspect despite Festus being a newly appointed minister at the time. Slowly, the news of Jerry Ikogho disappeared - nobody knows where he is and anything about the indictment. Someday, you will understand why Festus Keyamo is considered an asset to people indicted in the USA especially the next president of Nigeria. Assignment: Google Festus Keyamo's defence of FBI's wanted suspect, Jerry Ikogho. That will help you form a better opinion of his history with people INDICTED in fraudulent activities in the USA. Lastly, I've been meaning to ask this - "why was Festus Keyamo arrested on Saturday, February 16, 2002 in connection with the murder of Bola Ige?" What role was he accused of playing in the murder case and why did he not sue the police for illegal arrest? Maybe we need to revisit this case to better understand the person of Keyamo. Remember, Festus Keyamo is a Saint. I'm just asking questions. But Peter Obi who has never been arrested in connection with any murder is the criminal. Let's crucify Peter Obi to cover up the questions Nigerians should be asking. Nigeria is for cruise. Keyamo may someday become Minister of Justice under Tinubu - imagine what he will do to the opposition. - @Charles Awuzie

Legitisreal:There's one thing people don't seems to understand about Labour party & the Obidients movement. Obidients members are not necessarily members of Labour party. Obidients members are drawn from various interest groups & from various political parties that want a change from the status quo. Peter Obi happen to be the face of the genuine change. Obidients are not interested who becomes what in the state level but they're only interested on who leads Nigeria. If you understand this you'll know that anybody with character, capacity & commitment can be adopted by this movement in the future to vie for the office of the president. |

The Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) has berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections and also faulted the Federal Government’s naira redesign policy. In an open letter signed by the leaders of the Forum – Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON – Leader; Ayo Adebanjo – Leader, Afenifere; Pogu Bitrus – President, Middle Belt Forum; Chukwuemeka Ezeife – former Governor of Anambra State and Ambassador Okey Emuchay, MFR – Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide – the group said the February 25th exercise was described as “fraudulent” by many observers. “Mr. President should note that there has been an uneasy calm in the land and that the polity is laden with uncertainty orchestrated by the conduct and outcome of the presidential election. “It’s hoped that Mr. President will carefully reflect on the issues raised herein and act accordingly, not only in the interest of Nigeria’s unity and stability, but the sustenance of our democratic journey as well. Your Excellency, across Nigeria, voters of all ages and groups, consider the conduct and outcome of the February 25 presidential election as fraudulent”. It said the flaws in the presidential election came despite the amount of money budgeted for the process, adding that there is unease in the country since the exercise was conducted. Advertisement “Unfortunately, while we are imploring for peace and calm on the part of all who are dissatisfied with the conduct and outcome of the polls, and to hold forth for the judiciary to dispense justice on the matter, it seems Mr. President and the Independent National Electoral Commission, do not appreciate the mood of the country,” the letter read. On the naira redesign policy, the SMBLF faulted the move and the Federal Government’s delay in obeying the Supreme Court order which allowed the N1,000 and N500, and N200 as legal tender until year-end. The group said the policy caused much pain to Nigerians but wondered why the government stalled in obeying the court order. “Now, the worst part of it all was that even after the definitive ruling on the matter by the Supreme Court on 3rd March 2023, Mr. President, it took your administration and the Central Bank of Nigeria ten days, until Wednesday,13th March 2023, to issue a statement and an official circular respectively, on the matter,” the Forum said. “At this point, it is expedient to demand that Mr. President should end all prevarications on the naira redesign policy as well as the associated cashless policy, and expressly direct the Central Bank of Nigeria to fully comply with the judgment of the Supreme Court. “The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should also immediately put out sufficient banknotes into circulation, to end the unwanted suffering in the country, arising from the implementation of these twin policies.” https://www.channelstv.com/2023/03/16/southern-middle-belt-leaders-berate-inec-over-presidential-poll-faults-naira-redesign/amp/ |
The food items already had black spots, a sign of fungal growth, which made them unfit for consumption. Governor Dapo Abiodun on Saturday began sharing expired foodstuff to civil servants in Ogun State as part of his moves to solicit their support for his second term bid. Dapo Abiodun shares expired COVID-19 palliatives, N5,000 to Ogun civil servants The food items already had black spots, a sign of fungal growth, which made them unfit for consumption. The foodstuffs, Peoples Gazette gathered, is part of the COVID-19 palliatives earlier withheld from the citizenry by the state government. The governor also authorised the disbursement of N5,000 to the state workers on Wednesday, funds which were a part of the federal government’s relief package. Mr Abiodun’s actions has brought him under fierce criticisms by the civil servants who bemoaned the expired state of the shared food items. The Gazette learnt that sugar, salt, rice and garri were distributed. However, the foodstuffs already had black spots, a sign of fungal growth, which made them unfit for consumption. A spokesperson for the governor, Kunle Somorin, did not respond to requests for comments. Several food items were distributed in 2020 in joint efforts by the federal government and private donors, who sought to relief the impact of the economic slowdown on the populace. The objectives of the gesture were, however, thwarted by some state governors and politicians, who piled up the food items in warehouses away from the reach of ordinary Nigerians. https://gazettengr.com/dapo-abiodun-shares-expired-covid-19-palliatives-n5000-to-ogun-civil-servants/
