Orlu zone will never know peace until they provide the corpses of our fallen colleagues -Nigerian Army Information emanating now from 34 Field Artillery Brigade, Obinze, have it that Nigerian Army are planning to invade Orlu Zone again after #ESN (Eastern Security Network) gave them a run in the area. According to our informant, the soldiers are complaining that the men from the bush are fortified and that bullets does not penetrate them. ” Last week, we lost five soldiers in Orlu and over four police men when we had a shootout with the gun men. Yesterday we stormed Orlu again only for them to confront us and in the process, we lost two more soldiers. “The men that always come from the bush have juju and they don’t even hide from our bullets”. Continuing, he said “our commanders have asked us to go inside the bush and fish them out but that is not possible because we don’t know their traps in that bush. The point is that we must continue to invade Orlu until they give us the corpse of our members that was killed”. Since last week that hostilities resumed in such areas like Okporo, Okwudor, Nkume, Orlu zone has worn a frightening look. https://igberetvnews.com/1380315/orlu-zone-will-never-know-peace-provide-corpses-fallen-colleagues-nigerian-army/ |

FROM Kogi to Oyo State in the last one week, security concerns have mounted over what has been discovered to be a mass movement of Fulani families southwards. In Oyo State, a meeting of the Yoruba World Assembly held at the Parliament Building on Thursday was informed of Fulani herdsmen trooping into the state from neighbouring countries through Saki East, Saki West and Atisbo local government areas. Last Saturday, in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, truck loads of Fulani men, women and children were intercepted at the point of their settling in a forest area. They told locals that they were there as refugees fleeing from bandits ravaging their homes in Niger State. The scores of the Fulani migrants confessed to local government authorities that they were from Niger State and wanted to settle at the location where they were intercepted. The Fulani herdsmen and their families arrived in Okunran community in Yagba West Local Government Area of the state at about 12 noon last Saturday when truck conveying them arrived in the forest part of the remote community. Saturday Tribune gathered that the herdsmen were intercepted by officials of the local government led by the chairman, Mr Pius Kolawole, in collaboration with locals and security agencies. A statement last Sunday signed by media assistant to the council chairman, Mr Eniola Olayemi, had alleged that the local government authorities returned over 100 Fulanis in trucks moving to Okunran illegally to settle without a clear mission. The statement said the council chairman had taken the security of the area seriously since he assumed office and had held series of meetings as regards the invasion of Yagba West by the Fulani herdsmen. He said the Fulanis were intercepted on Saturday and their loaded truck was escorted out of the local government area with the support of security agencies. The statement said Yagba West under Kolawole’s leadership “is determined to ensure that security of life and property is actualised to the fullest.” However, the special adviser on media to the chairman, Mr Toba Abraham, while speaking to Saturday Tribune on Thursday, disclosed that not all the Fulani herdsmen were turned back to Niger State. He said that the local government chairman and security and other relevant officials held a meeting on that day where they screened and interrogated the Fulani herdsmen women and their children. According to him, the Fulani migrants said they had to leave their communities in Niger State due to the activities of bandits as their lives were not safe staying there. Abraham said those among them that were able to give satisfactory explanation were allowed to stay, while those who could not explain their mission were turned back to Niger State. Meanwhile when Saturday Tribune called on the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr William Aya, to confirm the story, he said his office was not aware of such a development. Leader of Amotekun in Oyo State, General Kunle Togun, who was credited with the security information on influx of armed herdsmen from outside the country, told Saturday Tribune on Friday that he would address a world press conference on Tuesday or Wednesday in Ibadan. General Togun said he would speak on all issues connected with threats from the armed Fulani trooping into the state as well as other related issues at the conference. 35 armed Fulani still in police custody in Oyo Meanwhile, 35 Fulani herdsmen who were some days ago arrested on TapaIgangan Road in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state are still in police custody. The police said the arrested men were going through the investigative process. The men were said to have been armed with guns, knives and other weapons. A report had it that they were on a reprisal attack on operatives of the Amotekun security outfit over the alleged killing of three suspected bandits last Saturday. One of the Fulani herdsmen arrested by Operation Burst, Adamu Yerima Abubakar, was interviewed on Friday by Saturday Tribune where he and others were being detained. He did not deny that he and his people were armed but said they were vigilantes going after kidnappers and other bandits in Ibarapa zone when they were arrested. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the Fulanis were still going through investigation. “The police have gone to the scene to make inquiries in order to get more facts. We are still investigating,” the PPRO said. Commandant of Amotekun in Oyo State, Colonel Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), had a few days ago said that his men launched six operations in four local government areas but that the team in Ayete was attacked inside the forest by suspected bandits with three of them killed by his men. Olayanju stressed that the operations were not against any Fulani settlement, adding that the operations were fully supported by Fulani leaders living in the areas. According to him, a number of Miyetti Allah members were part of the operations. https://tribuneonlineng.com/security-concerns-mount-over-mass-movement-of-fulanis-southwards/

Politicians in the north are scared of restructuring because outside Nigeria they are formless - Prof Pat Utomi Nigerian professor of political economy, Pat Utomi has explained why he thinks politicians in the north are afraid of restructuring. Utomi who spoke at virtual media parley ahead of the ‘Never Again’ conference to mark 51 years after the civil war, noted that the north largely relies on the federal government for their share of revenue which “has made them really unproductive”. He added that northern politicians are scared of restructuring because they are formless outside Nigeria. Utomi said; “There is a real crisis in the north that the south does not understand. They are painters of people who hate each other very much; that is the truth of the matter. That is why they are scared of restructuring because they don’t know where it will lead them, and outside of Nigeria, they are formless; there is no north." The Nigerian Professor who stressed that restructuring will help the north become productive and move away from the poverty status, also announced that the second edition of the ‘Never Again’ conference which will feature Matthew Kukah, bishop of Sokoto Catholic diocese as the keynote addresser and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the special guest of honour, will be chaired by Ayo Adebanjo, Afenifere leader and Kalu Idika Kalu, a former finance minister.Utomi added; “It is recalled that Nigeria fought a bitter and internecine 30-month civil war that left in its wake a sharply divided nation with mutual suspicion, hatred and resentment across racial and regional lines. An estimated one million victims were killed immediately before and during the war. “The conference will x-ray the issues that led to the civil war and the need for patriots to work together to achieve national cohesion, especially in light of several centrifugal tendencies within the polity.” https://www.lindaikejisblog.com/2021/1/politicians-in-the-north-are-scared-of-restructuring-because-outside-nigeria-they-are-formless-prof-pat-utomi-2.html |

Abubakar use to live with Mustapha, a maigaurd in my estate, & was running errands for people. Washing of cars & cleaning of compound was his specialty. He became popular. Though a Fulani & a stack illiterate, who could barely speak Pidgin English, Abubakar was so loved, because he is hard working. But in 2016, when Buhari gave Fulani Herdsmen through Miyetti Allah, a free hand to go on a killing spree unchallenged, more Fulani's joined the ranks. They went about killing Nigerians unchallenged, in the name of farmers herders crisis. Their killings were felt by almost every region in this country. They destroyed farmlands, overran christian dominated villages, kill & maim at will. With full protection from security agencies In 24 months, their murderous activities caught the attention of the whole world. They were ranked No 4th Worst terrorist group in the world. That attracted a kind of stereotype against the Fulani's as a race. But in other to save face, and save the group from imminent actions. The Government of @MBuhari decided to classify them as BANDITS. More like, 'unknown killers' That became a face saver, for the Fulani marauding killers, and Miyetti Allah group. So from then henceforth, any attack, or killing from the group, is called Bandit attack or killing. That gave the group the opportunity to venture into other forms of criminalities. Since they have been branded as unknown. With the Government distancing itself from the group. They ventured fully into Kidnapping and illegal solid mineral exploration. Different Kidnap groups & gang sprang up, in a short period of time. All concentrating their activities around Northwest Nigeria. Using Falgore forest as cover. The activities of some illegal mining groups, who were in existence before they became Bandits, became more pronounced. They made brisk cash, from Ransom collections on Kidnapping. Using proceed to buy and smuggle in heavy weapons and guns into Nigeria, through the porous Northern boarders. When some youths of Fulani origin, saw how powerful these Bandits are, they decided to join them. Sometimes in late 2018, Abubakar suddenly disappeared from the estate. Because he was very popular, almost everyone in the estate tried inquiring about him from Mustapha. We were told Abubakar traveled home for the farming season. We all believed it, hook line and sinker. But after 6 months, in 2019 Abubakar appeared, looking all dressed up. Putting on very expensive gold chain, and wrist watch. Wow! Abukabar has suddenly changed. But Aboki Na Aboki. He truly lack dress sense. No one was courageous enough to ask Abubakar to come wash cars anymore. That was the very last time, we set our eyes on Abubakar, at that estate. After 3 months, i ran into Abubakar, somewhere around i Ikeja. He was putting on a gold chain of over a million Naira, & Cartier Tank Solo XL Automatic Stainless Steel Mens Watch. Over a million Naira. He told me, he was into bureau de change, and he also buys cars for people from Lagos, and take it to the North. That he got the connection from one Alhaji who helped him to be what he is today. I was skeptical about his claims, because i never asked him how he made money. But i believed him, because, i have seen an Hausa boy in Lagos, who came as a stack illiterate, did all sorts of menial jobs, before ending up at the international Airport as a bureau de change. He grew his business, bought cars & houses. Today he is an Alhaji with many wives. In November 2020, information trickled in that Abubakar has been killed. That he was among a Kidnapping gang the Nigerian Army recently neutralized somewhere around Zamfara state. On inquiry, i discovered that Abubakar was fully into Kidnapping. Him and many of his type, who left Lagos or other cities, to go join the so called "BANDITS", usually run to Lagos or other convenient cities after any successful kidnap, and Ransom collections. They move from the North, to the South, in other to enjoy their Ransom monies. Abukabar is dead, but there are many of his kind, who still return to Lagos or other cities. Who had turned overnight millionaires. Their sudden wealth, are proceeds from Kidnapping Ransom. After committing the crime in the North, they run to the South to hide. & enjoy their loot Because of @MBuhari's ineptitude, and lack of direction towards the activities of his Kinsmen, Armed Robbers in the country, are all turning into Kidnappers. It is easy, and less risky to execute. And the payment is sure and guaranteed, if you succeed. Robbers mentality now is, Why will an armed robber, risk his life, going to rob a bank, when he could just Kidnap a big customer, who will instruct the bank to release his money to them as Ransom. Without any form of shootout with the police or any security agents. Why will an armed robber risk his life trying to steal a car. When the ultimate goal is to sell it for money. He could Kidnap the owner of the car, without touching the car. With treats & instruction, the owner of the car, will ask for the car to be sold and money paid as Ransom. In Nigeria today, almost all the rubbers have all turned into Kidnappers. Despite almost every state having death by hanging as punishment for Kidnapping. Or life imprisonment for Kidnappers. But the number of Kidnappers keeps rising daily. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1345310831844741121.html https://mobile.twitter.com/Truthfully83/status/1345310831844741121 |

We are not begging anybody, Igbo man must be President come 2023. Igbo leaders caution Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku on 2023 All hopes that leaders of Southeast geopolitical zone would play as united team towards the 2023 general election cycle were shattered yesterday, when stakeholders from the zone met in Owerri https://www.nairaland.com/6338977/not-begging-anybody-igbo-man |
Igbo leaders caution Tinubu, Jonathan, Atiku on 2023 All hopes that leaders of Southeast geopolitical zone would play as united team towards the 2023 general election cycle were shattered yesterday, when stakeholders from the zone met in Owerri. Igbo leaders, yesterday, restated the call for the next President to emerge from South-East. They spoke at a Solidarity Conference organised by Global Movement for Igbo President 2023 and United for Better Nigeria Initiative. The conference focused on the emergence of an Igbo President. In his opening address, a First Republic minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi, expressed the hope that the emergence of an Igbo man of South-East zone as President would resolve leadership crises in the country. A former Women Affairs Minister, Josephine Anenih, said the Igbo believe in one Nigeria in spite of deprivations and provocations, saying it justifies the need for an Igbo President to address the myriad of challenges confronting the country. The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said the conference was part of efforts to consult widely towards ensuring that every Nigerian supports the quest by the region to produce the next President. Similarly, the National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, stated that being one of the six zones in the country, “it is not out of place if Igbo or South-East comes up that it is their time to rescue Nigeria.” He appealed to Amechi to ensure realisation of the dream of Nigeria’s founding fathers. Igbo youths were not left out in the agitation as the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Arthur Obiora, said 2023 President must be an Igbo man. Obiora, represented by the Director of Planning and Strategy, and leader of Igbo Young Politicians Forum, Tony-Ezekwelu, an engineer, said: “We are not begging anybody, Igbo man must be President come 2023. He urged political parties to zone their 2023 presidential tickets to South-East. “If they want us to remain as multi-ethnic nations that Nigeria is, we will remain and build Nigeria as a country where there is peace, justice, equity and fairness. “We are not begging anybody, Igbo man must be President come 2023. Those who are supporting Bola Tinubu and former President Goodluck Jonathan and Atiku Abubakar want to break Nigeria up.” According to him, rotational Presidency should start with Igbo ethnic nation https://m.guardian.ng/news/igbo-leaders-caution-tinubu-jonathan-atiku-on-2023/ |

Backs Ohanaeze Ndigbo, rejects promotion of only one officer from S/East Alleges Nigeria unfair to region in recruitment, appointments, projects location, others A South East professional group has bemoaned recent promotions made by the Police Service Commission (PSC),alleging that the zone was again, treated unfavorably. The group under the aegis of Conference of Igbo Professionals Worldwide, in an open letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, alleged that like in the past recruitments, appointments, promotions and allocation of resources, the region was denied its rightful place in the exercise carried out by the Commission. In the letter dated 26th, December, 2020 and titled,Unfair treatment of Ndigbo and Urgent Need to Right the Wrongs by Mr President “,the group alleged that out of the recent promotion of senior police officers, the South East was given one slot while some regions got over 12 slots. READ ALSOInsecurity: Disclose security votes spending for 2021, SERAP urges Buhari, govs The letter signed by the group’s National President, Prof. Patrick Kalu and National secretary, Dr Uche Mbaka, respectively, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to not only set up a panel with a view to unraveling circumstances leading to unfair treatment of Igbo race in the country but also review the recent promotions of the police commission. Hear it:”We wish to kindly draw your attention to the recent appointments made in the Nigeria Police Force by the Police Service Commission (PSC), under the chairmanship of the retired former Inspector General of Police, Musiliu Smith. “Recall that the Police Service Commission on Friday, December 18,2020,rose from its 10th plenary meeting with the promotion of 37 senior police officers to their next ranks. This action by the commission is highly commendable given that it would boost the morale of officers and men of the Force to serve their fatherland diligently and meritoriously. “However, we are constrained to point out that the exercise which ordinarily would have been effected in line with the country’s policy of equity and fairness, was regrettably skewed towards some regions at the detriment of the South East. “For instance,as observed by us,out of the figure mentioned earlier, the North West was apportioned 12 slots just as the North East was given 8 slots. The South West on the other had, got 7 while the South South got 5 in that order. The North Central geopolitical region was given 4 slots. We regret to say here that unlike the zones mentioned, the South East region only got 1 slot. “This,to us,is the height of the ongoing desperate efforts of the current federal administration to completely alienate the Igbo race in the Nigeria project. This provocative action is condemnable and unacceptable to us.” The group told the president that,”The PSC may have drawn its inspiration to carry out this wicked action against Ndigbo from what has been in place since the emergence of your administration.” Listing the areas the Igbos were being marginalised in the nation’s scheme of things, the group insisted that the president must take urgent steps to “right the wrongs.” “These infractions included lopsided appointment of security chiefs; infrastructure deficit including roads, railway, and seaports; unfavourable allocations from the federal government; and concentration of interventions of development partners in other regions. “Others are exclusion from commanding heights of the nation’s economy; delay in the passage of South East Development Commission Bill and flying the kite of the 2023 presidency. “We call on you sir, to address the principle of federal character in the distribution of public resources and appointive positions, especially security chiefs. ” Also, we appeal to the National Assembly to immediately step in with a view to stopping these unfair treatments of Ndigbo in Nigeria. This it can do by first of all set up a committee to investigate the reason for these actions by the government. “ According to the group, “Addressing the lopsided appointments of security chiefs is paramount due to increasing insecurity in the South East region.” ” We are threatened that given the current security architecture, a decision may be taken one day to eliminate all Igbo without their knowledge due to lack of representation,”it said. Going further, the group said:”The unfair treatments against us have continued to increase daily. We call on you sir, to re-write the wrongs meted against the Igbo ethnic nationality by your administration.” “Like our mother sociocultural body, Ohaneze Ndigbo had observed on the action of the Police Service Commission on the recent appointments in the Police, we hasten to condemn this repeated denial of people of Igbo extraction in major appointments in its entirety. We feel this is not fair to a region that is at the forefront of Nigeria’s unity,” it added. It regretted that:”Owing to widespread allegations and reports of exclusion of the citizens of South East from several important federal appointments including top security appointments since the emergence of your government, we had expected that certain steps aimed at righting the past wrongs could have been taken by now.” “Since you and your party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) have constantly denied hating the Igbo, we urge you to undertake certain actions aimed at convincing us that we have a place in the Nigeria project similar to other regions,” it told the president. ” We have an unwavering belief in the Nigeria project and feel strongly that we be accorded the same attention like others when it comes to issues of federal appointments. We deserve better life and fair treatment from our own country,”it said. It tasked the president to take actions that could deplete the ranks of Nnamdi Kanu’s followers, who it alleged, was brainwashing the youths of the zone to join in his inglorious activities, using the alleged unfair treatments of the Igbo race. “We recently observed that our fugitive son and founder of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was capitalising on these unfair treatments of Ndigbo in Nigeria to gain attention. He succeeded in recruiting reasonable number of followers by using some of these indices mentioned above to convince them. “We vehemently rose against this act by Mr Kanu and called on our youths to denounce him and his activities. This has paid off as his ranks is being depleted considerably. “We appeal to you sir, to take steps aimed at not giving credence to the inglorious activities of this nature by stopping all actions that can fuel ethnic and religious bigotry in the country. You were elected as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not any tribe or religion,” it said. It further said:”In the spirit of fair play, equity and justice, the Conference of Igbo Professionals Worldwide, appeals to you sir,to order a review of recent police promotion exercise with a view to correcting the imbalance observed in it.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2020/12/igbo-group-writes-buhariseeks-review-of-recent-police-promotions/ |
