The person that started the lies and the people who championed the propaganda that Buhari is a man of integrity should all be lined up and forced to eat sauceless stew.
Buhari and integrity should be taught to primary school pupils as the classical example of words and opposites.

#BuhariDemocracyDayLies

I just watched President Buhari’s Democracy Day Speech and I am stunned at the level of lies contained in just one speech. Quite possibly Buhari just broke the Guinness World Record on most lied in a speech ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming to increase foreign reserves. PMB met a reserve of $32 billion on May 29, 2015. In 3 years he has borrowed ₦11 trillion. This is more than PDP borrowed in 16 years combined. It is from this debt that he has ‘increased’ our reserve #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming ‬Integrated Personnel And Payment Information System (IPPIS) as an achievement. IPPIS was initiated, introduced and implemented by the Jonathan administration. Here is proof https://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/jonathan-sets-deadline-for-implementation-of-new-payroll-system/‪ #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied that he “inherited a weak economy”. He inherited the third fastest growing economy in the world, according to @CNNMoney. It was his failure to appoint a cabinet for 6 months that weakened the economy and led to recession ‬ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied when he said Nigerians are enjoying increased power supply. This is such an obvious lie. He has not built a single power station. The last power station built in Nigeria was built by Jonathan. I ask you, has your power improved? ‬ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied saying that Boko Haram‘s capacity has been ‘degraded’. This runs counter to the testimony of the #DapchiGirls who testified that Boko Haram now have planes and they land them within Nigeria ‬https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/03/24/dapchi-schoolgirl-we-were-flown-in-planes-and-taken-over-rivers-in-boats/amp/ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by saying he has improved the education sector. By his third year Jonathan had built 120 Almajiri schools and 12 universities. Giving out licenses to the private sector to build a polytechnic is not an achievement ‬ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming 7000 Megawatts power. The devil will have trouble beating that lie. Nigeria under Buhari is not even‬ regularly transmitting half that number. Perhaps he means IGP’s ‘TRANSMISSION’ and not electric power transmission ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming the construction of the 2nd Niger Bridge as an achievement. No bridge has been constructed. No contract has been awarded. The ‬₦2 billion released was money earmarked by Jonathan not Buhari. Here is proof https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/05/fg-hasnt-awarded-2nd-niger-bridge-contract-reps-cttee/ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by claiming US FAA Category 1 status as an achievement. Nigeria attained US FAA Category 1 on October 23, 2010 under former President Jonathan. Here is the proof ‬https://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/09/faa-category-1-status-nigeria-on-threshold-of-aviation-growth-and-development/ ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

Buhari lied by claiming the visa on arrival policy as his achievements. This policy was unveiled in 2013 by Olusegun Aganga, Jonathan’s minister of industry. Read about it here in this 2013 interview http://allafrica.com/stories/201309241471.html ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

Buhari lied when he said he has reduced inflation. In truth, inflation increased by 50% from 9.8% when Buhari took over in May 2015, to 13.34%. The last time Nigeria enjoyed single digit inflation rate was under ex President Jonathan ‪#BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied about the so called unprecedented FIRS tax revenue and customs receipt. When you factor in the devaluation of the Naira by the Buhari government. The revenues made is actually about half the revenues made in 2014 when Naira was ₦150 to $1 #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari said the ₦2.7trillion capital expenditure for 2016 and 2017 combined is a record. ₦2.7 trillion is worth $8 billion today. It is not up to the ₦1.6 trillion Jonathan allocated for capital expenditure in 2013 which was equivalent to $9.6 billion #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied when he said Nigeria is more secure under him. According to the Global Terrorism Index, Nigeria is now the THIRD most terrorised nation in the world. We were number 4 under Jonathan. We have moved 1 step backward #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied that he has reduced corruption in Nigeria. According to Transparency International, Nigeria is more corrupt under Buhari than it was at ANYTIME during the Jonathan administration. We have moved 12 steps backwards from 136 to 144 on TI’s CPI #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied about increased inflow of foreign exchange into Nigeria. Whereas Nigeria was the NUMBER ONE destination for FDI in Africa under Jonathan, under Buhari we are not even among the top 10 destinations in Africa. Here‘s proof http://africanbusinessmagazine.com/sectors/finance/nigeria-is-top-fdi-destination-in-africa/ #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied big time when he says he is fighting corruption. Transparency International yesterday revealed that un-budgeted security votes given to APC officials have suddenly increased to $670 million. They suspect that the money is to be used to fund Buhari’s re-election ‬https://www.news24.com/Africa/News/nigeria-told-to-end-security-slush-funds-20180528 ‪ #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari lied by saying he will bring criminals to justice. The facts contradict this assertion. Under Buhari, close to 1000 so called ‘repentant’ Boko Haram terrorists have been released. Herdsmen killing Nigerians have not been prosecuted. Instead they are defended #BuhariDemocracyDayLies‬

‪Buhari should not attempt to take any credit for the Not Too Young Bill. He is 75 and does not have a single youth in his cabinet. Not even one. His heart is not in the bill. He was not the promoter. He just wants to reap where he didn’t sow.‬

‪Finally, I urge President Muhammadu Buhari to remember that he is fasting and Ramadan fast is not only about abstinence from food, it is also about abstaining from lies. I congratulate him on his new Guinness World Record of most lies in a single speech #BuhariDemocracyDayLies
Politics › Buhari's Democracy Day Lies On Achievements Busted With Facts! by tomakint(op): 5:19pm On May 29, 2018
Buhari achievements:

*Facts and figures*

```1. Foreign reserved increased from 29.3 billion to over 47 billion```
```Facts:```
*There is no proof whatsoever that our Foreign reserves have grown to 47 billion dollars When Buhari has not told us where the excess savings came from and if the country was making so much then why has Buhari been attributing his failure to lack of funds? Open your eyes Buhari lies a lot*

```2. Over 200,000 youth are benefiting from #30,000 monthly NPOWER.```
```Fact:```
*this is another unproven statististic and ofcourse another shameless lie from the lying govt , is the govt saying it is paying average of 6000 people in each state of Nigeria the total sum of 6 billion Naira monthly ? The least the govt can do is allow the 6 billion Naira reflect in the statutory monthly expenditure charge sheet and it's never reflected at all ..another thing is for the govt to make available a list of names of beneficiaries state by state for verifications*

```3. Power supply as improved from 2000 megawatts to 7000 megawatts.```
```Fact:```
*When Jonathan left Nigeria had a wheel out capacity of 4500 Mws and an installed capacity of 7000 Mws of electricity and this is a fact ..Buhari is claiming to have added 5000 mws to grid in 3 years so can Buhari show us what new power plants he initiated that is responsible for this extra 5000 Mws ( it's as simple as that ).. another lie bursted!!*

```4. Second Niger bridge construction is going on.```
*it's is on record that the contract has not even been awarded at all at any level so this is a lie .. how can a contract that has not been awarded be ongoing ..please let's stop being dull*
```5. Local rice production, packaging like imported rice is now in the market.```

```Fact```:
*One visit to the market will debunk all these paper based local rice , why can't we find such rice in the market, where are the rice paddies producing these rice located ? Why has our rice import bill not dropped to reflect the truth.. another lie from hell*
```6. Money swaps between Nigeria and China to reduce dollar influence and reduce cost of products from China.```

```Fact:```
*the money swap deal has not even taken off and when it does it will for the tiny international sum of 900 million dollars over a period of years which comes to just 300 million dollars per year if it ever kicks off ..The deal in every ramification is nothing but beauttiful nonsense that has no implication on our Balance of trade sheet with china.. we have only ended up guaranteeing China a sure 1 billion dollars worth of export steady no matter the outcome of international business.*
```7. Over 500billion had been realised from anti corruption fight.```

```Fact:```
*Till the EFCC provided the list of the 630 people it prosecuted successfully and recovered 500 billion Naira from this remains false and till that money reflects in our budget as an income item then it's false ..Where is is the money?*
```8.Bokoharam, Niger Delta Avenger, IPOB/BIAFRA agitators has been defeated.```

```Facts:```
*Boko Haram is still know to be in control of over 70 percent of the land mass in Borno state and 80 percent of the highways there ..a visit to Borno by anyone will quickly erode this lie I challenge the OP to make road trip from Damboa to Maidugri with an escort of 20 soldiers and lets see if he will be alive to tell the tale .. IPOB was never a threat as such to any Nigerian , instead of mentioning IPOb I was expecting the president to tell us why he is sparing the Fulani Herdmen who have killed over 4000 Nigerians in just 3 years !!!!*
```9. Nigeria has comes out of the worst economical recession.```

```Facts:```
*who caused the recession in the first place ?Buhari tooknover Nigeria with a single inflation digit but today it's still in double digits courtesy his bad governance, is the negligible micro growth Buhari has peddling even sufficient to call growth at all ..the dull president can keep decieving himself please but the truth is that the recession came with a lot of consequences which included double digit inflation, weaker naira and a loss of about 13 million jobs , are we back to single digit inflation? Is the naira back to strength ? Is are the 13 million jobs back ? Hell no ..the last 3 years have been Nigeria's worst Perfmance on the international Human development index scale and that the fact*
```10. Masive road construction is ongoing all over Nigeria```

```Facts```:
*this is another big lie when it's on record that for 3 straight fiscal years the Buhari govt has scored zero (yes zero) Performance in the administration of its capital expenditure purse ( even Fashola recently admitted this when he went to defend his budget) ..so ask yourself where is the money for these phantom roads coming from and where are the roads ? please dont let a Dullard like Buhari decieve you.*
```11. Rail constructing is on going Lagos to Ibadan, Kaduna to Kano etc```

```Facts:```
*The only rail construction Buhari has initiated is a questionable one that is supposed to run from Katsina to his ancestral home in Maradi Niger republic , the motive behind the rail is 100 percent nepotistic as there is no economic explanation to why Nigeria needs that rail line so much we had to borrow for it..*
```12. Sign memorandum of understanding with Boeing and Airbus on revival of National Carriage Airline````

```Facts```
*hahahahaha this comment is an insult to any sensible person...anyone that that know the process of acquiring planes knows this is bullocks .. At what capacity is Boeing and Airbus signing agreement hahahaha? Boeing and Airbus only take orders for brand new planes and deliveries could take years and very few airlines use direct purchases to source their planes form either Boeing or Airbus . Buhari clearly understand nothing about fleeting an airline but the least he do is show us the MOU with these two aviation giants so we know what it's about even though I know it's a big lie.*
```13. Massive investment in Agriculture as alternative means of Economy.```

```Facts:```
*Nigerian farmers have never had a worse time in their lives due to the insecurity they currently face ..its on record that almost 60 percent of middle belt farmers have been displaced from their farm by killer herdsmen Buhari is very sympathetic too ..so tell me where this false investment in agriculture is being made please ..is it in Daura farms ?*
```14. Anti Corruption war.```

```Facts:```
*This seem to be unarguable achievements of BUHARI administration in 3years.*
*Corruption has never been worse on reality, just one look at transparency international recent report will debunk this one hand as Nigeria ranking is at one of its worst ever today under the Dullard...Lest we forget there is a massive corruption also going on in secretive oil subsidy regime where Buhari has trippled the annual spending on phantom oil subsidies from about 300 billion Naira annually to 1.4 trillion a year without budgetary approval ..damn that would be the biggest corruption scandal when it blow open when Buhari is soon relieved of his duty*
This is serious and dangerous
In a letter obtained by Daily Nigerian, which Atiku personally signed, the ex-VP announced that Daniel will have overall responsibility for personnel, resourcing and campaign staffing.
The letter read in part, “I am pleased to officially notify you of the appointment of His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (“OGD” as he is popularly known), as the Director-General of the Atiku Campaign Organisation.
“OGD is a former two-term governor of Ogun State, and a foremost engineer, businessman and astute politician. He has vast knowledge of the Nigerian political terrain and has a wide network of contacts and friends all over Nigeria, and these are a few of the assets he will be bringing to our campaign organisation.
“I am in no doubt OGD is a very positive and welcome addition to our campaign and I look forward to working with him as he leads over campaign to victory come February 2019.
“Going forward, OGD as the Director General, has overall responsibility for every aspect of the campaign. This includes mobilization and organizing (delegates and supporters), publicity and communication, finance and expenditure. I am in the process of setting up a separate fund raising committee which will work alongside and complement the campaign finance structure.
“The DG will also have overall responsibility for personnel, resourcing and campaign staffing and any other political or campaign related matters, that I give my delegated authority.
“From now on, my role will be limited to continuing my consultations with the relevant stakeholders in the PDP and in the political landscape as a whole. All campaign or other staff will report to the DG with immediate effect, and all campaign or political matters will also be referred to the DG.
Politics › Femi Adesina On Aburi Accord In 2012! by tomakint(op): 11:01pm On May 26, 2018
This article was written by Femi Adesina the current Spokesperson to President Buhari in 2012 after the demise of Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Hmmmmm...... Plz read;
THE ABURI ACCORD THAT WOULD HAVE SAVED NIGERIA FROM ALL HER PROBLEMS...( but aborted by the Fulani Oligarchy)
By FEMI ADESINA( current spokesperson to President Buhari)
In December 2009, I was at Aburi, while holidaying in Ghana. We Nigerians call it A-b-u-r-i, but the Ghanaians pronounce it as E-b-r-i. For those who have read widely about the civil war that we fought between 1967 and 1970,
Aburi is a significant place. This was what I wrote about Aburi, after returning from that journey:
“Aburi. Beautiful, serene Aburi, set daintily atop a hill. It is home to a botanical garden that is 119 years old. But for us in Nigeria, Aburi goes beyond just nature and its preservation.
It is the town where General Yakubu Gowon and Odumegwu Ojukwu met, to try and avert the Nigerian Civil War that lasted between 1967 and 1970. They came out with Aburi Accord, which later broke down. And a shooting war started.
You could see the Presidential Lodge on a hill, where the Nigerian leaders had parleyed at the behest of Ghanaian leaders. It all ended in futility.”
As one of the key parties to the Aburi Accord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, returns to mother earth today, it is also apposite to return to Aburi, and look at the letter and the spirit of the accord once again, an agreement that was violated by the Federal side, and which made a bloody internecine war inevitable.
For most part of 1966, the northern part of Nigeria, particularly, had been turned to killing fields.
Non-natives, especially Igbos, were killed in thousands. Many fled, many others were displaced. There was complete anarchy in the land. The average Igbo looked up to Lt. Col Odumegwu Ojukwu, military governor of the Eastern Region, to provide leadership and direction. He did not fail. He picked the gauntlet and championed the cause of his people.
By January 1967, the drums of war were loud and clear, reverberating across the length and breadth of Nigeria. But there was a last ditch effort to prevent what was imminent. There was a peace meeting hosted at Aburi, in Ghana, by the then Ghanaian head of state, Gen J. A. Ankrah.
At the meeting were Gowon, Ojukwu, all the military governors of the regions, and some top civil servants, both from the Federal side and the Eastern region. The meeting held on January 4 and 5, 1967, and came out with what is popularly known today as the Aburi Accord.
The agenda of the meeting consisted of three crucial issues: (i) Reorganization of the Armed Forces (ii) Constitutional agreement (iii) Issues of displaced persons within Nigeria.
The two-day meeting reached consensus that were acceptable to both sides. Among others, it was resolved that legislative and executive authority of the Federal Military Government was to remain in the Supreme Military Council (SMC), to which any decision affecting the whole country shall be referred for determination provided it is possible for a meeting to be held, and the matter requiring determination must be referred to military governors for their comment and concurrence. What does this mean in simple language?
The SMC would run the affairs of the country, but not without consulting the regions as represented by the military governors. This was something akin to federalism, even under a military government.
Other terms of the agreement include that appointments to senior ranks in the police, diplomatic and consular services as well as appointment to superscale posts in the federal civil service and the equivalent posts in the statutory corporations must be approved by the SMC. What does this mean again in simple language? Equity, fairness, true federalism.
Other matters like the holding of an ad hoc constitutional conference, fate of soldiers involved in the January 15, 1966 coup, rehabilitation of displaced persons, etc, were also amicably resolved, and the conferees returned happily to Nigeria. Only for the Federal side to deliver a blow to the solar plexus: the Aburi Accord, Gowon said, was unworkable, and he reneged on all the agreements.
Using the Eastern Nigerian Broadcasting Service, Ojukwu played the tape recording of the proceedings at Aburi repeatedly, to educate the populace on who was playing Judas. Later, he made a broadcast in which he said: “we in the East are anxious to see that our differences are resolved by peaceful means and that Nigeria is preserved as a unit, but it is doubtful, and the world must judge whether Lt. Col Gowon’s attitudes and other exhibitions of his insincerity are something which can lead to a return of normalcy and confidence in the country.
“I must warn all Easterners once again to remain vigilant. The East will never be intimidated, nor will she acquiesce to any form of dictation. It is not our intention to play the aggressor. Nonetheless, it is not our intention to be slaughtered in our beds. We are ready to defend our homeland.”
In a piece I did last December, shortly after Ojukwu passed away, I said he was virtually pushed into war by the infidelity of the Federal side to the Aburi Accord. I still stand by that position. Ojukwu was called ‘warlord’ for many decades, but he was by no means a warmonger. He only did what he needed to do for his people–and for the country.
As his earthly remains are interred today, it is tragic that Nigeria is still submerged in the morass that Ojukwu already identified about 45 years ago. Today, bombs go off like firecrackers in the country. There is agitation for the review of the revenue allocation formula.
There are strident calls for the convocation of a sovereign national conference. Even some component parts are threatening to pull out of the federation if anything happened to their ‘son’ who is now in power. Didn’t Ojukwu warn of these landmines ahead? Were all these issues not already settled at Aburi?
Foremost journalist and media administrator, Akogun Tola Adeniyi, in a recent media interview, explained the Aburi Accord this way: “Let every region be semi-autonomous and develop at its own level.” Yes, that was the spirit and letter of Aburi, but which sadly became a road not taken.
And is that not why we are still suffering today, living in a rickety and decrepit country that can burst at the seams any moment? I tell you, Ojukwu was a prophet, and like most prophets, he had no honour in his own country. Pity. But whether we like it or not, there’s no way we won’t return to Aburi. Willy-nilly. I only hope it will be sooner than later, before Nigeria goes to grief. On Aburi I stand.
Federal Government was perfidious and duplicitous on Aburi. It is still the same way today. That is why as Nigerians, we are most times disillusioned, dismayed, dispirited, dejected and depressed. When will change come to this land? Our hearts are getting weary.
Last December, I wrote that Ojukwu should be buried like a hero. I’m glad at the rites of passage so far, culminating in the interment today. Yes, bury him like a true hero. An icon, an avatar, deserves no less. This generation will surely not see another like Ojukwu. He fought not only for his own people, but for a true federation founded on justice, fair play, equity and rectitude. Unfortunately, he did not see the Nigeria of his dreams. Will we? Adieu the Ikemba, the Eze Igbo Gburugburu. May your soul rest in peace. Ka nkpur’obi gi zue ike n’adukwa.
In the end, it will remain a merry go round of follow my words and not my foot steps.
When I met the Turankin adamawa was when I knew no matter how many script writers one might have it's no substitute for natural.intelligence
There's no comparison between buhari and Atiku , Atiku is miles more intelligent and sound in modern business and economic practises than buhari
Why I’ve not visited the U S-Atiku
Former Vice President and presidential aspirant in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has described public perception of corruption on his person as a product of mere orchestration, dismissing it as unfounded in facts and records.
Called to clear the air during an interactive session with his enthusiasts in Sagamu on Wednesday, May 9, Atiku pointed out that there has been no corruption charges against him anywhere.
“I have been fighting government through my political career. I fought the military and also fought to defend my belief in the processes of democracy, rule of law and what I believe to be in the best interest of the nation while in and out of government.
When I left the ruling party to join the opposition at different points, many were worried that the government will pursue and bring me down. If they had anything against me, I would have been done for.
They would have charged me but there is no such charge anywhere. Even the EFCC that is being used today, I brought the template for it from Brazil and we had to lend the EFCC the N300m from the privatization fund to start functioning before their budget could be passed. The laws of the EFCC that we brought in the original template were very stringent but they have watered it down.”
Also reacting to comments that he cannot go to the United States, Atiku explained that he has long applied but has not been granted visa but wondered why people are tending to belittle the integrity of the nation by relating going to the United States as an issue in Nigerian politics and government.
“Our constitution does not say you have to travel to America before one can be president. I applied for visa and the say it is under administrative process, what do you want me to do? If you make me president, America will invite me but, please, do not belittle your sovereignty. Going to America is not a condition for Nigerian Presidency. My late boss, Yaradua was never keen about United States.”
Atiku said rather than waste breath on a matter as insignificant as traveling to the US, he is more focused on working on the issues affecting the economic development of the nation and welfare of citizens. Of particular concern to him is the incident of the clashes between herdsmen and farmers on which he lamented that the both the government and security agencies seem not to be up to the task.
“Honestly, I am a Fulani man and I have more than 1000 heads of cattle. On the herdsmen and farmers clash, the security does not seem to be up to the task and the government does not seem to know what to do. I will take the example of Fayose in Ekiti State. He called all the heads of the herders and they had an understanding on how to go about things. Since then, I have not heard much of the clashes from Ekiti.
“Part of the problem has to do with our local administration system. In those days there is no way you can enter any community with even five cattle without registration. You must report and be recorded by the local authorities.
You are even to pay tax per head on your cattle. The new system of administration where the traditional institutions and community leaders are completely eliminated from government is a problem.
You have to use the traditional institutions to handle local issues. That’s where the issue of devolution of power comes in. Once the states have the they can act. That is why I also support state police.”
Atiku also regretted the manipulation of religion to destroy our common brotherhood pointing out that the tendencies for religious and ethnic conflict has been fueled by the incidence of injustice and inequitable treatments in governance, with the sad outcome of turning the victims against themselves.
“I have never seen a religious country like Nigeria. Both major religions do not encourage violence. It is not actually religion that is bringing conflict. Injustice and inequality being promoted by our government is at the root.
Injustice and unequal treatment cannot bring peace. One of the greatest problems of this government is their inability to balance governance.
They show favoritism to different groups but it is not about the people. This leads to pent up anger. Government must make sure there is fairness and justice accorded to all religions and all parts of this country as a guarantee for peace and stability.”
On the issue of the involvement of the youth in governance, he pointed out that he has been a major protagonist in bringing the youth into government and disclosed his plan to reserve forty percent of government positions for the youth and thirty five for the women.
“I plan to give 40% space for youth involvement in my government. I brought all the young men that served in our government. Once I hear of any, at home or abroad, who have intelligence and capacity in certain key areas, I went to bring him. But if these young men have done what they were supposed to do, I wouldn’t even be here looking for President.
They were promised the position and were deceived to fight me hoping they will get the position. They didn’t get it and here we are.”
Relating the issue to his age, he declared that he is very healthy and fit, experienced in governance and economic development issues and have the competence and capacity to deliver on the job to usher in a better Nigerian in line with the wishes and hope of the citizenry.
BUHARI, LEAVE LIES FOR LAI MOHAMMED: THERE WAS NEVER A TIME NIGERIA SPENT $16B ON POWER IN THE LAST 45 YEARS.
-Kehinde Ayoola JP (Writes Buhari Exposing Detail Of Expenses On Power From 1973 To 2015 That Buhari Took Over)
Dear President Buhari,
Sir, it is sad you can push fictitious figures out just to score political point when you have all the available information at your fingertip.
I believe this type of narratives suits the person of Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
There was never a time Nigeria spent $16bn on the dead power sector during the Obasanjo era or in the last 45years.
The chronological timeline is shared below
1973-1998
The Nigerian government spent $1.83bn on installing 5.715GW Hydro and Gas power plants.
Pls note the Nigerian Naira was stronger than the USD from 1973 till 1985 and it started tumbling from 1986 onwards.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
*1999-2015*
Our federal lords spent
N955bn+ which was released to the power ministry within the year captured
as follows:
*1999 – N11.206 billion appropriated, N6.698billion released;
*2000 – N59.064billion appropriated, N49,785 billion released;
*2015 – N5. 240billion appropriated, no record but we can say it is not 100% funded.
N155b released as subsidy fund for MYTO Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO)
The funds were given for a period of five years. A breakdown of the interventions funds are as follows:
*2009 – N30.8 billion
*2010 -N43.2 billion
*2011 – N37.0 billion
*2012 – N11.5 billion
*2013 – N32.6 billion.
$8.23bn was released to NIPP from ECA to push our installed generating capacity with 5GW and OBJ regime released $3.08bn while the balance was spent between 2007-2015
Federal Government made $2.238 billion about N358 billion from the sale of 15 Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN.
Adding all up with what we earned we spent a total of $13.38bn between 1999-2015.
===============================
The Presidential Review Panel on the NIPP set up by the NEC, said the panel found that as at 2007, total project allocations/ estimates to NIPP was $10.231 billion inclusive of the $2 billion Federal Government counterpart funding for Mambilla Hydro Power project and $1.4 billion for additional nine turbines.
out of these commitments, $3.08 billion was funded and scrutinised with advance payment guarantees from “first class” Nigerian banks and Letters of Credits issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). $1.5 billion of the sum is still in the custody of the banks.
At no time did OBJ spend $16bn on power or the Nigerian government spent $16bn in the last 45years. it is outright falsehood peddled from the highest office of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
2500MW of electricity by OBJ? utter rubbish. Are you saying that GEJ/Yaradua did not contribute even 1kw of electricity in 8 years. Just because of the hatred you have for PMB you wants to twist history? You lie.
I don't think you have s clearer understanding of what you quoted please you can read it again but this time around slowly and meditatively.
hakimi1974:
the monies that was frittered away by obasanjo and his thieving gangs in active connivance with a fantastically corrupt national assembly was actually in the region of between 10-12 billion dollars. it's just that most nigerians have selective amnessia, i remember when this scandal blew open, honourable olumelu was almost made a scape goat untill he threatened to open pandora's box. and that made e.f.c.c to back peddalled. and of course nigerians being who we are, as if dem swear for us, forgot about it and everything died a natural death. now you see why a THIEVE like obasanjo will always prance about like a featheress peacock? because we forget EASILLY.
Actually, you are the one that forgets easily,the truth is the $16 billion figment of imagination figures was politics in tone and when the opportunity came for Obj to clear all doubts he did that perfectly well through his Senior Special Assistant, Seke Somolu, who was the head of the Power Sector Reform and Coordinator, NIPP Project. Actually, all that was spent was $6.5b after all the reconciliation of figures. Indeed as far as Seke Somolu was concerned from his own records, what was spent was $6.3b. He drew the attention of Yar'Adua to this which enraged him. He flawed up because Seke spoke up when he saw that the orchestration of the falsehood was being given fresh oxygen almost on a daily basis to rubbish Obj. He thought he needed to speak as someone who should know, a step Yar'Adua considered an insubordination and embarrassing after he had spoken to the public on the matter. It was the figure of $6.5b Obj himself filed before the Senate. That was what led to Seke Somolu's sack by Yar'Adua. Seke sought to educate us saying $16b was voted but warrant was issued for no more than $6.3b spent largely on orders for turbines which could only be manufactured to specifications since they could not be picked from department store shelves. Part of the disbursements also went into drawings, building of bridges on which the turbines would be ferried and compensation for communities from whom pieces of land were acquired. And much more.
Another reality check during Obasanjo's tenure could be captured below;
There was never any $16B purportedly spent on power in 8 years of OBJ government. Add all the budgetary allocation for the 8 years and the NIPP project inherited by Yar'adua and Jonathan administration which was $5.2B and as at the time of Faruq Lawan panel only $1.6B was drawn against the Letter of Credit at the CBN against equipment supplied by the different contractors. Today, most of the projects have been delivered and commissioned and others are waiting to be connected to feedstock (Gas). It was all politics.
In fact Geregu power project was delivered and commissioned ahead of schedule by Siemens. A record and the only gas powered generating plant in northern Nigeria.
"" About the OBJ's $16B power project controversy, Dr Nura Alkali posted this:
"How true is the statement that "OBJ's government spent $16 billion on power and had nothing to show for it"?
Fact Checks:
1. By May 1999 when OBJ took office, Nigeria had seven functional power plants generating 1,500 mW daily. These were Kainji, Jebba and Shiroro hydroelectric plants; and Egbin, Afam, Delta and Sapele gas thermal plants.
2. The two coal thermal plants at Orji River and Ijora were non-functional for lack of coal and obsolete equipment.
3. During 1999-2007, the FGN built six gas power plants now supplying electricity to the national grid. They include Afam II (276mW), Papalanto (330mW), Geregu (414mW) and Omotosho (330mW), all completed by May, 2007.
4. A fifth plant at Alaoji, Delta State (545Mw), was under construction. A sixth plant was under construction at Ikot-Abasi, Akwa-Ibom State (145Mw). It was a state government partnership with the FGN.
5. Also during 1999-2007, seven states initiated power projects under the NIPP Program with FGN support (though not partnerships) at: Sapele (Delta State), Egbema (Imo), Ehobor (Edo), Gbaram (Bayelsa), Calabar (Cross-River), and Omoku (Rivers).
6. In the private sector, the Agip oil company built and commissioned a 480Mw thermal plant at Okpai, Delta State.
7. Two hydroelectric projects at Zungeru (Niger State) and Mambilla (Taraba State) were at the design and conception stage by 2007. Construction work started at Zungeru (700mW) in 2013, to be completed in 2020, while construction work at Mambilla (3,050mW) started only in 2018.
8. During 1999-2007, the FGN also rehabilitated existing power plants at Kainji, Egbin and Shiroro, which were all performing far below capacity due to accumulated neglect.
9. Also during 1999-2007, the FGN initiated new power transmission projects (though most of them commenced after 2007) and passed into law the Power Sector Reform Act which allowed the privatization of NEPA/PHCN.
Summary:
Today, Nigeria owes at least 2,520 mW of her daily power generation to FGN policies conceived and executed during 1999-2007. That excludes investments in power transmission and distribution, as well as FGN support for NIPP projects which came on stream after 2007.
Conclusion:
OBJ's government has something to show for its power projects. It is left for auditors, engineers and other experts to determine how much billions justifies that achievement."
IBRAHIM BUNU TELLS THE TRUTH TO AUTHORITY!
Hey! Do you think you have seen Nigeria at her worse economic meltdown or seen the worse killings and religious wars yet? Well if you think so then just wait until our very dear PMB wins the 2019 presidential election then you'll know better... In the meantime, please ignore your hatred for reading and read this to the end because it is a wake-up call to all of us who wants things to get better in Nigeria. Written by IBRAHIM BUNU. Why are we blaming Buhari and Not Ourselves! In 2015, we changed a govt under which human beings and businesses fared well. The South watched as the Northern oligarchy, with the help of Lagos media, demonised the govt of the day, manipulated the electoral process to install a radical Islamist and we said nothing.
1. He appointed our Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Air Staff from his tribe/religion, we said nothing.
2. He appointed our National Security Adviser from his tribe/religion,we said nothing.
3. He followed it up with appointment of DG DSS from his village/ religion, we clapped for him.
4. He appointed Chairman EFCC from his tribe/religion; we kept quiet.
5. He appointed IGP from his religion and we said nothing.
6. He appointed Minister of Defence from his tribe and religion, we said nothing.
7. He appointed Minister of Interior from his tribe/religion, and we clapped for him.
8. He appointed CG Immigration from his tribe and religion, we were the more quiet.
9. He appointed CG Civil Defence from his own religion and region, we said nothing.
10. He appointed CG Prisons from his own tribe and religion and we hailed him.
11. He appointed DG NIA from his village, tribe and religion and we said it is his prerogative as President.
12. He appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence from his tribe and religion; we were the more quiet.
13. A man is elected President and he concentrated the appointments of heads of entire security agencies in the country in one religion and region and you didn't notice it was in furtherance of an agenda?
14. Why is he so interested in having all the security heads from his religion and region?
15. Generals Obasanjo and T.Y. Danjuma, President Buhari's major supporters, have come out publicly to speak on their fears for Nigeria. The elders know Nigeria is sliding into great danger. Any moment from now, like they called Chief Obasanjo names; they will call Gen. Danjuma too. They might tell you it's because PMB has stopped corruption that the General is angry and crying. They won't tell you that General Danjuma is a very rich Nigerian already that do not need anything from govt appointees.
16. Once President Buhari returned from London, after his last discharge from hospital, at the peak of IPOB agitation, he made a national broadcast and launched "Operation Python Dance" to deal with IPOB. His Attorney General applied to court to declare IPOB a terror group and proscribe it. IPOB never killed a single Nigerian to our knowledge.
17. Uptill this day, the President has not made any broadcast on fulani herdsmen and their militant wing, that have killed and pillaged Nigerians in their thousands. Their leaders come out to take responsibility for such killings and they are still walking free. No arrest. No prosecution. It is an agenda.
18. Who do we now blame? We were warned but we didn't heed the warnings. We needed change so badly and anything but Jonathan was fine.
19. Chief Femi Falana, Pastor Bakare and other rights advocates, you have let Nigerians down. You spoke so vehemently against GEJ but kept quiet in the face of tyranny, injustice and killing of Nigerians under PMB. God will request the blood of the Nigerians who have died in the hands of the emboldened herdsmen at your hands. As General Danjuma said, we are in real danger in Nigeria. Silence is no longer golden! 2019 is fast approaching, a chance we'll have to correct our mistakes and right our wrongs and to salvage what we have left, so please....
Kindly swallow your pride for the sake of humanity and share this message after reading it so that other people read can do same and together we can make amends.
