Christianity EtcRe: Osun Christian Students Must Wear Garments If Muslims Wear Hijabs – CAN Insists by tomzman: 12:41am On Jun 17, 2016
EazyMoh:
@City guy SC31 tomzman
The bottom line is those Christians supported by CAN are just being mischievous and intolerant. Of all the religions in the world, none is categorical about mode of dressing (of females) like Islam. Muslim would NEVER compromise religious duties just to belong. World over Muslim females wear their hijab wherever they go as I mentioned. Because Ogun or Lagos or whatever bans Hijab in public schools in the south doesn't make it RIGHT! What would you say if all students in Sharia states are ordered to wear ankle length Hijab in public schools.
This debate has been on going for decades, because the education system and in fact every institution of governance in this country has been designed to conform 100% with Christianity without any regard to other faith. And you turn around and call the country secular? Then a tiny issue as allowing little school girls who chose to wear just small hijab is making you and your CAN leaders foam in the mouth like your lives depend on it.
Below would tell you how the world sees Hijab, the west you love to worship in particular.
I did you a favour by trying to introduce you to the art of critical reasoning beyond sentiments and religion but I guess I only wasted my time. You are already deep in the pool of sentimental and selfish irrationality as confirmed by the post above. Unfortunately, I have no more of my time to waste on flawing your sentimental posts I have more productive things to do. I pray your eyes and brains are opened on time.

Christianity EtcRe: Osun Christian Students Must Wear Garments If Muslims Wear Hijabs – CAN Insists by tomzman: 8:25pm On Jun 15, 2016
EazyMoh:
Let any parent/student of any other orientation or faith declare it that it's part of their faith to dress in a particular way submit a proposal to the government detailing their preferred mode of dressing as uniform. So long that makes them happy.
Worldwide people use their religious mode of dressing to perform their duties or go to school.
Freedom of religion means we shall be free to practice or religion so long we don't inconvenience others. Problem is wearing Hijab seriously inconveniences Christians as if it were on their heads, they are not after wearing Church garments in fact they wouldn't want to! But they are so devastated by the sight of Muslimah in Hijab! What would only make them happy is for her to be like them and shed her Muslim identity and eventually faith.
I see you are a muslim so there's no point explaining things to you but I would still do you that favour. I only want you to learn to take out religion and sentiments from certain things. I am a christian and I have a good number of muslim friends (both male and female) but on some issues, I rather prefer to call a spade a spade. There is a reason beret is part of the school uniform.

You are saying traditionalists should submit their own proposal to government, I laugh. So how would the government determine which of their adornments shouldn't be worn on the uniform. They can decide to submit a proposal to adorn charms on their school uniform, how would you counter them, I guess you realise that there are several traditional religions each with it's own peculiarities. So in essence, esu, obatala, ifa, sango, oya, amadioha, sanpona, egungun and the others can also submit individual proposals to the government to appear in their outfits to schools and other public institutions. How would the scenario look like if everyone's proposal is accepted. Weird? That is the reason the constitution defines Nigeria as a secular state and institutions establish rules and mode of dressing so that when you are in such institutions, every one dresses the same and obeys the same rules irrespective of his/her religion.

Lastly, I believe you know students are not allowed to wear anything else on their school uniforms in Ogun State. Even a court in Lagos State disallowed the use of hijab on uniform. Is Osun State in anyway better than those states? For your info, there's more to this issue than you see. Go teach in a public school in Osun maybe then you would have a better understanding of the real situation of things.
Christianity EtcRe: Osun Christian Students Must Wear Garments If Muslims Wear Hijabs – CAN Insists by tomzman: 7:15pm On Jun 15, 2016
EazyMoh:
This matter is very simple, let CAN meet and design uniform that suits Christianity acceptable to Christians, and let Muslims do same. Then approve the two types of uniforms. Any student that doesn't dress in either form should be sanctioned. simple.
For how long do they think they can keep up thus shenanigans.
And you think the traditionalists would not advocate for their own too. There's a reason it's called uniform in the first place.

It's a pity most of you commenting on this issue have never stepped foot in Osun not to talk of entering a school or even teaching in it. Go to a typical secondary school in Osun state and volunteer to teach there just for a week, then you would understand why reasonable people are against this move.

Honestly, there is no lie in all I said. I'm not trying to brag, but my dad is a billionaire and she knows this. I'm currently planning to leave the country to further my studies for the benefits of the family company. I had to apply for a visa for her which was refused. A blessing in disguise I must say. Now she wants me to try again. I have dropped her sisters CV with my dad tho he doesn't know them. She wants me to buy her brother a phone. Also my expensive wristwatch she wants me to dash her brother. Some times when we argue, she would be like, don't forget we are not married o. That got me thinking a lot. I talk to her mom so I don't know how to dump her without much hassles. I have a very soft heart which she's capitalizing on. I love and I'm sad as I'm typing this. I don't know what to do.

Its unfortunate if we Christians cant tolerate Muslims to wear just hijab to sch, at least we can see their faces, what our church leaders have problem with is schools established by missionaries being attended by Muslims in hijab, but they forgot that Jesus came for everyone both the believers and un believers.
Keep quiet! 'Christians' like you irritate me. I have always said it that Christianity and stupidity are not synonymous. Learn to invest in knowledge. Even the tolerant Jesus had to take some drastic actions in specific circumstances. You want examples?.

One of our problems in this country is that we bring religion into everything forgetting that Nigeria is a secular state. Imagine if everyone (including the ifa, ogun, sango, oya, sanpona, egungun, esu, obatala worshippers) is allowed to dress according to their faith in a public institution because it is their fundamental right and because Jesus came for everyone, what would the scenario look like?

Lastly, do me a favour, please give me the meaning of the word 'uniform' and it's essence.

louqas:
No and that is beside the question I asked you. What I'm saying is CAN erred by saying students should go to school in CHOIR ROBES. instead of asking them to dress properly like a good Christian woman by for instance wearing head scrafs to school
So what is the function of the beret which is part of the school uniform for girls?
EducationRe: Osun Students Appear In Church Garments by tomzman: 1:42pm On Jun 14, 2016
The judiciary keeps shaming itself day in day out. Even though freedom of religion is guaranteed in the constitution, the same constitution declares Nigeria as a secular state.

Maybe the judge should have ordered the Muslims in the Army, Navy and others to start using hijab on their uniform. The school is a formal environment, not a religious one. Going by the judge's ruling, students attending white garment churches would now be able to at least put on their caps on the school uniform, students following the traditional religion can adorn their uniforms with palm fronds, charms and other embellishments because it's part of their fundamental right. The judge should be tested for weed sniffing.

It seems Islam especially in Nigeria is being used to promote irrationality and enslave the thinking of the poor cos I wonder why one rarely sees children of people like Buhari, Atiku, Indimi and other rich muslim men on hijab.

I don't see why parents of this generation still back on tribal differences in marriage matters. I was in your shoe some years back but I have to let go of the relationship. I dated this Ibo girl for 12 years and was thinking of proposing to her on our 12th year of courtship when she broke the news of her dad not in support of the relationship and she was asking what is my take on it. I told her bluntly to go with whatever her mind chooses and she went with her father's mandate. As I am writing to you now she will be 31 this year and not in any serious relationship, I am not making gest of her but her father brought this into her life. By the grace of God I will be settling down with my Oyinbo Canada in July. I don't really know what to advise you but do what you know is best for you and the most important thing seek the face of God in this situation and all will be well with you. Goodluck in making your choice.
Bros, 12 years! shocked Respect!
Sorry o but how old was she then, 15 or...?

FamilyRe: Ethnicity Difference: Should I Stay Or Just Move On Already?? by tomzman: 12:05pm On May 26, 2016
OP, if I am to advise you based on what you posted up there and the responses you gave to some people you quoted, I would say don't marry that guy. Yes, 5 years no be beans but what likely lies ahead if you go on to marry him, I'm afraid 5 years won't be enough to handle it. You see, it takes a very strong-willed man to change his parent's stance when it comes to the issue of marriage and from what you typed up there, your man doesn't seem like one. Love is not enough in marriage, that's the truth. Move on now if you don't want a marriage you would endure.

You want my opinion.....I don't think that Government should be giving people loans and grants right now....because we cannot afford it.

Sorry....I know people would hate me, and I have already been shouted at for saying this....but right now....Nigeria cannot afford mass welfare projects with oil prices at $50 per barrel.....when we were having issues with such projects at over $100 per barrel.

(And I have even more bad news.....oil is going to keep going down. The $100 barrel era is over.).

For me, there is only one way out of this. Telling Nigerians the honest truth....we do not have enough money right now....and we need to spend money on becoming a self sufficient nation.....by improving power, roads, rail and education....so that we can no longer be affected by sudden drops in the oil price. We may go through some austerity....but it would be worth it at the end.

So sorry.....but APC and every other party should be thinking about saving money. Awoof government is forty years out of date. Time we became a serious manufacturing power...the hard way.
At last someone that reasons. Nigeria doesn't need welfare programs at this point. What we need is investment in power, agriculture, railways and other infrastructure. Power should be given priority so as to reduce the demand for petrol a bit. We really have not gotten it right yet.

In addition to what chiprettty replied you, from oshodi, take obalende. When you get to Obalende, you can take bike straight to the estate or you trek a bit from obalende to where you can take Keke or bike to the estate (bike and keke are not allowed into the estate). From the gate of the estate, you can either take their shuttle or better still trek (the place is not far from the gate, just straight down).
