Family / Re: My Sister Cancels Her Wedding. Is She Doing The Right Thing? by tomzman: 12:20am On Aug 11, 2020
Too many kids on NL these days. Seun really needs to start thinking of how to curb this trend.

OP, I am a man and I support your sister's decision 100%. A man that wants to marry into his parent's house is not mature enough for marriage and it's not a matter of age. The only exception I may allow is if the man is an only child and the dad is late. Other than that, let the man get out and start a life with his wife.

So let your sister maintain her stand and find a way to make sure the guy gets an apartment of his own before she continues with the marriage.

OP, you went out of line. You shouldn't have bothered her further after you invited her to eat and she refused. You even went to meet her and put your hands on her shoulder when you hitherto had no relationship with her, haba!

Well, I think God is trying to use this experience to teach you a lesson that would help you in the future. See, it is not everyone you help or try to get close to. You have to be sensitive enough to know the help that can potentially put you in trouble. Also, you must be careful when helping women. I would not say more than that. You must also understand that at times, it's best to help people by saying a prayer for them in your heart rather than physically reaching out to help them.

You should stop begging your boss and move on with your life. To get over the depression, go out and have fun. Go dance in concerts as if you just won a jackpot. Stay positive, trust God and begin to send out your CV to other companies. I'm sure you'd get a better job in no time.

Ok. So which gen can you recommend that wld be able to power these appliances and that wld not tear my pocket too much.

PS: I won't be using all those appliances at the same time but I want to be able to power my TV, 1HP AC, and my 87L fridge all at the same time.

Thanks.
Technology Market / Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by tomzman: 2:48pm On Feb 16, 2019
Good afternoon prof.

I want to purchase a generator but don't know much. I need a gen that can power a Midea H113 87L refridgerator, 32 inches TV, home theatre, fan and 6 bulbs. I may also want to use stuff like blender and intend to get a 1HP air conditioner later.

Based on my budget of 100k max, I stumbled on two brands, Firman ECO 3990ES and Lutian LT3990E. Please which of these two do you think is best bearing in mind factors like fuel consumption, durability and noise?

Thanks.

Romance / Re: All Her Friends Are Boys. Can Any Girl Explain This? by tomzman: 5:43pm On Sep 01, 2017
It's been a while I saw a mature thread like this on FP. I read from the first to the last page and I enjoyed every page.

My opinion: Well, I would say it's not impossible to have close friends of the opposite sex. I have quite a number of beautiful female friends that I have never thought of dating not to talk of having sex with. Yes, some tend to give in to emotions at times but I am mature enough to maintain the boundary without necessarily hurting them or ruining the friendship.

It's difficult to give a rule regarding this issue as what works for me might not work for everyone else.

Again I commend the maturity displayed on this thread so far.

Op, there are only three things you have to do without further delay:
1) Send that liability you have been cohabiting with out of your life, but take responsibility for the child's upkeep.
2) Forget about the other woman and her 100k for now, sit down and plan your life. Discover your vision in life and work out steps to achieving it. A man without a goal in life will keep being tossed to and fro.
3) Determine the characteristics of the woman you want in your life bearing in mind your vision. If that other woman possesses those characteristics, go for her, if not take a walk and continue the search.

But seriously bro, you gotta man up, man up!

Politics / Re: Buhari Orders Finance Ministry To Pay Falcons by tomzman: 9:53am On Dec 15, 2016
You guys should understand that NFF takes the bulk of the blame here. FIFA rules limits government interference in football. NFF should have been done better. The highest Buhari could have done was to invite them to Aso Villa and treat them as heroes but he also failed in that respect. A lot is wrong with this country.

Religion / Re: Mike Bamiloye Thinks Comedy In The Church Is A Bad Idea by tomzman: 5:27pm On Dec 12, 2016
I agree with Mike Bamiloye to a large extent, however I believe it's a matter of knowing where to draw the line. Comedy isn't a bad thing but when it is used to mock God and the scriptures, that's when it's unhealthy for the church. I know Pastors that do add jokes to their messages and you still get touched because aside the joke, they would also tell you the undiluted truth.

One thing Nigerian Christians should understand is the difference between Christianity and doctrines. Most of us only carry doctrines on our heads, we don't seek for understanding and the practicality of the scriptures in our daily lives (which is the true essence of Christianity). I bet if every Christian should practicalise the scriptures, Nigeria would be one of the best countries in the world. So again, it's not about the comedy, it's about knowing where to draw the line.
Politics / Re: Rivers: APC Govt Using Army, SARS Personnel To Hijack Election Materials – Wike by tomzman: 2:43pm On Dec 11, 2016
chrisxxx:

You see that is why other parts of south call west saboteurs. The question remains are they actually saboteurs? If I would answer I would say West flows with the tide.
This is not same with south east and south south. They are fixated in whichever cause they believe in.
On Amaechi's developmental strides, I would tell you he worked only when he had Wike with him. His second term was rubbish and wasteful. Like I said outside Rivers he can be praised as someone who spent his State money to install a president. I think that is his only second term achievement.
Bros I can win Amaechi even in his ubima compound. In the election yesterday it repeated itself. His saving grace was the military he used when he realised that he had lost in the booth he voted. He had to use the military to highjack the box.
His utterances have also not helped him. He may be a good and sincere person. But majority of people here in Rivers don't like him. Dont also forget we have a sizable population of Ibos here. Whenever they see Amaechi they see Buhari.
I understand your point but you have to understand something about the west. It's not that they are saboteurs or that they move with the tide, the west believes in you when you give them a reason to. The moment you fail to meet up with their expectations, they turn their back on you but that doesn't mean they'll hate you. That was what happened to Jonathan in the last election. I could remember a night to election in 2011, even an akara (beancake) seller in my area then in Lagos was all for Jonathan as President and Fashola as Lagos state governor, that was because the people believed in those two. Jonathan lost the in the west in 2015 because he performed below expectation and they saw Buhari as the lesser evil not because they hated him. I can bet my last penny that if Buhari continues on this path of failure and a better candidate shows up in 2019, the same fate awaits him.

Look at Ondo, Mimiko is loved by his people but he fumbled. Owing salaries and also refusing to listen to advice by picking a successor from his senatorial district made the same people that voted for him and his party in back then to turn their backs on him and his candidate this time around and go for a candidate they had earlier rejected. In that same State, APC had issues with the result of their primaries. Tinubu was against Akeredolu and everybody knew it. Akeredolu won the election and even Tinubu and his supporters have congratulated him, everybody has since moved on to see how they can work with the governor-elect for the overall good of the state, no violence, no hate. Are you getting the point?

I gave you the above examples to make it easier for you to understand how the SW reasons when it comes to politics compared to you guys and the SE. See, sentimental and emotional politics doesn't encourage development. Most SW states like Ogun, Lagos and Oyo booted out PDP because they didn't perform up to expectation. Take a look at those states today especially Ogun and Lagos. Google pics of Ogun state now and compare them to what the state looked like under the former governor maybe you'll understand better.

So, my friend, I'll say rather than seeing the SW as saboteurs, you guys need to learn a lot from them. Also, take away the spirit of hate and violence from you, Politicians are not worth it. Peace.
Politics / Re: Rivers: APC Govt Using Army, SARS Personnel To Hijack Election Materials – Wike by tomzman: 12:32pm On Dec 11, 2016
chrisxxx:

Bros to be frank his fight with Jonathan did not help.
So that's his offence, that's what he did to deserve such bitter hatred. I'm not from Rivers but we hear and see pics of the development this guy brought to your state when he was governor but because he fought with Jonathan, someone who did next to nothing for you guys you all decided to hate him and his party. I am not supporting APC or any other party as of now but tell me one visible developmental project Wike has executed since he came on board?

The truth is you guys have a lot to learn from the SW. Who cares if any politician fights with another. Do you know how many SW politicians have fought themselves, nobody gives a flying fucck. Politics is a game of interests, you guys have to understand that and stop mixing politics with sentiments and emotions. Above all, you guys need to understand that politicians are not worth risking your lives for. Wike that was telling the youths to sacrifice their lives if it gets to that, how many of his children or relatives do you see at such gatherings? You guys should wise up. Peace.
Politics / Re: Rivers: APC Govt Using Army, SARS Personnel To Hijack Election Materials – Wike by tomzman: 11:18pm On Dec 10, 2016
chrisxxx:
All those abusing Wike know nothing about Rivers politics. I strongly believe they are not from Rivers State.
Wike is a grassroot politician. He needs no military to win election in Rivers State. He is so popular that people are willing to go all out to give him support.
If you think he rigged 2015 with the military why is it becoming difficult for Amaechi to do so effortlessly? Amaechi tried the first one he could not succeed. Second time same thing and this is the third time. Amaechi has always fan the ember of violence. He is well known.
No doubt Amaechi is a very popular politician and commands respect outside Rivers State. But in Rivers State anybody can win Amaechi in any political contest. He is bitterly hated along with anything he represents.
Please I'll like to know Amaechi's offence to deserve such bitter hatred from his own people.
Politics / Re: Rivers Rerun: Ikwerre Women Sit Down In Front Of INEC Collation Center. PICS by tomzman: 10:50pm On Dec 10, 2016
I wonder when Rivers people will learn. Both Wike and Amaechi have their wives relaxing on their beds, these women are busy risking their health for politicians that would forget their existence after the elections.
Politics / Re: Constitution Review: Senate Cuts President’s Powers by tomzman: 8:58am On Dec 09, 2016
Seun really needs to do something. The rate at which fools are infiltrating the forum is getting worrisome. Most people won't even bother to read before commenting, it's really bad.

This is quite a good bill. The exclusive list need to be decongested. My only fear is that just like GEJ, Buhari might also refuse to sign it.
