Politics › Re: Hundreds Of Half Nude Women Throw Mud, Stones At Gov Yero by tonte(m): 5:46pm On Sep 23, 2014 |
the source you quoted is fake or incorrect Tunjasko: KADUNA -Hundreds of half nude protesting women booed and threw objects at an unusually long convoy of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero at Fadan Karshi, in Sanga Local Government Council, LGC, in Southern part of Kaduna state yesterday. Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, yesterday alleged that the killings that had occurred in Sanga LGC, was carried out by terrorists and that 300 lives had been lost in the invasions. This was contained in a letter written to visiting governor Yero and handed to him at Fadan Karshi yesterday, as protesting women wailed and pelted his convoy with mud and sand at the palace of the District Head of Fadan Karshi while it was raining. The women were angry that after not less than 7 attacks on their villages, in which not less than 300 villagers were killed since last July, the governor had not visited the place until a few weeks to the primary elections, according to sources to Vanguard from Sanga on phone. Mr. Bezard Wuyah, National President of Ninzom Progressive Youths told reporters in Kaduna about the visit of the governor to Karshin Daji and Fadan Karshi. “The governor came with hundreds of soldiers, policemen, Roads Safety Corps, SSS, even with a detachment of Prison Guards. It was more of an invasion, not a condolence visit. Our mothers and sisters who were expecting a sober, caring governor were furious when they saw that it was as a form of intimidation against them so they don’t bare their minds on the negligence they had suffered since gunmen sacked their villages and rendered them homeless? That was why they were protesting and asking that the governor kills them so that they die and rest. They refused to be cowed,” he said. “But Sanga natives are law abiding and we are appealing to everyone to remain calm since the governor has come and seen the situation”, said Wuyah. It was gathered that an embarrassed Yero called on the people to be patient and be peace abiding in a brief remark before returning to Kaduna. A call to the Director General, Media and Publicity to Governor, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki was not answered, since the press was not invited to cover the visit. A text message demanding the side of the Government on the issue was not also replied by Maiyaki at the time of writing this report. MeanwhileHaving a letter written by CAN, Sanga LGC branch, signed by its Chairman, Rev. Fadan Mathew Anana to Yero which was obtained by newsmen in Kaduna reads: “We have suffered gruesome massacre as members of the Christian community in Sanga Local government, as a body. We the Christian Association of Nigeria, Sanga Local Government chapter wish to passionately appeal that, as a matter of urgency, you kindly use your good office to arrest this ugly development by ending these terrible attacks on our peace-loving and defenseless people. “A careful consideration of the attacks that have been launched on various communities in Sanga LGA from June 23rd to the most recent one which occurred on 16th & 17th of September, has clearly revealed that these attacks were carefully planned and carried out by some terrorist Islamic fundamentalists mainly on Christians within the Local government. “Over 300 lives of Christians have been wasted through these attacks. Our children, women, including pregnant women and the aged, our clergymen, Churches, pastors’ residence and our properties have been the sole and main targets of these attacks. We must clearly state that this sad, ugly and unprovoked attacks have over-stretched the patience of the Christian community in Sanga LGA to engage us in a religious war which is not in our nature and tradition as Christians. “It is our earnest prayer to Almighty God and to you that concrete steps shall be taken to ensure there is no further attack on any community in the Local Government area from henceforth”

nope, in the US the incumbent always gets automatic qualification to run for another term without internal party primaries Alexgeneration: PDP is really setting a bad precedent in this our nascent democracy. In advanced climes, even the best incumbents still go through the process of party primaries. We shouldn't keep doing things the wrong way every time. |

I hope so as well, I've always almost only known myself as a Kalabari person, and just only during the 2006 militancy crisis that I could identify myself as Ijaw, and that was the only time I ever saw the Ijaw nation from delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Ondo agree on a point and act as one...Long live the ijaw nation barcanista: Bro there is nothing like core Ijaw. The major problem Ijaw have is that we don't have a central dialect other than those of the respÉctive clans. The Ijaw People's Assembly in onÉ of its papers made mention of this and I see it as one of the major impediment on the Ijaw progress. I am an Okrikan, during my growing up I have known myself to be first an Okrikan before an Ijaw wch I later realise that it is not the way. The Ijaws need to look beyond politic and fashion the way forward for ourselves. I wish we can get a body of young Ijaw Intellectuals to look into some of these things and move the Ijaw Nation forward. I have always believed in the Ijaw nation and its ideals. I believe Izon shall be great.

oh really, thank you then, glad to learn something new...well, we almost all so westernized that I really don't know the history down there that much, but I'm pretty sure the degema people are very Kalabari...I mean there is no other dialect around here and Degema is a stone throw from Abonema where I'm from, been there a few times, just noticed it's too backward when compared to abonema or buguma...that may explain why we may be different...all the same cheers pazienza: If you don't know of the Atala Degema people, the owners of Degema town, and their brothers the Usokun-Degema, then you are either not from Degema LGA,or you are,but hardly visit home.
Obonoma aka Ekomburu were the early Degema clan on the Island before the arrival of the Ijoid Abonnema people, the Obonoma people appear to have been 'ijawnized' by the Abonnema people, but Degema people still recognize them as a Degema clan. |

true, Nembe Language sound almost exactly like the Kalabari language, which counds similar to the Okirika Language, all 3 are different, all 3 are definitely related, and all 3 never agree to be called Ijaw...but poilitcally we all form the Ijaw Nation...the core Ijaws are the ones from Bayelsa...the Amasomma, Brass, Sagbama kingdoms Dreambeat: You are right.I lived with them for quite sometime.Nembe is another group in Bayelsa that are politically Ijaw when they away from the state. When you talk to them in Bayelsa, they tell you they are Nembe and NOT Ijaw. |
