Family › Re: Should I Stop Her From Seeing 'pastors'? by tonte(m): 9:16pm On Nov 30, 2014 |
You are still asking? Enforce a full ban, infact draft a constitution barring her from all that what we can all agree is absolute nonsense, if I was you, I'd tell her I understand her concern for wanting to have kids, but the whole thing is making me think she has a mental obsession with all those people, so if she wants us to progress with the marriage, she's going to have to make a conscious and firm decision to either weather the storm with you or leave you totally shut when she goes about looking for spiritual help...at the same time don't out rightly abandon her or else those her pastors will just see her as a goldmine that can be manipulated anyhow they like....this post got me really pissed off Davidoff2000: I am recently married..if one year six months is recent. I dated my wife for a few years before marrying her, last year. She is not born again per se, but very churchy and religious. She always says that they (who ever they are, I don't know) have always told her that she has a calling for God....fine
She likes going to church and always likes pastors 'wey dey see road' meaning pastors who often prophesy...prophets and the like.
Now that we haven't had a child yet, she often goes to church- quite a few different churches if i might add or sees different pastors often on the recommendation of family members or friends...and all of them keep giving her prophecies, bulk of which are not good.
"Its someone in your husband's family, thats responsible, its your husband's step mother, (whom she has never met). Now only recently, by yet another pastor: "its one girl ur husband dated and didnt marry that is the cause of ur predicament...."
"Your first issue going to be a boy but that scorned girl has bewitched you and locked your womb, and untll you and your husband come for deliverance, you can't conceive.
And to the best of my knowledge there is no girl i promised marriage up to that serious level that i disappointed...yet she says two different pastors have said the same thing.
I feel all these are works of charlatans and I tell her if i was to consult prophets too...they will tell me its her own mother, her uncle or her family member that is the cause.
I feel if she keeps listening to all these so called pastors, they will develop a siege mentality in her that will make her start looking at everyone around us with suspicion.
The same pastor that told her about me disappointing a girl also said there's some one in our compound that doesnt like her(my wife) and she should start being careful how or where she (my wife) spreads her clothes...A compound of few people and 6 flats..3flats of which are empty at the moment with only 7 other grown ups, 3 other wives inclusive.
We have a problem with one of the families just a lady with a bad character, but who cant and wont go to any diabolical route to do us bad...I told my wife that so because of what that pastor told her now, she will start thinking this woman wants to harm her?
That's the sort of siege mentality these prophesies can engender in her.
So question now is- how should i handle this? Should I stop her from seeing these pastors? Or stop her from going to church? Since i always encourage her to go though am not the church type myself...Or go for deliverance to one of these her 'obviously' fake pastors or pastors with inaccurate prophecies. |

For me. The way a woman is dressed is pet of what attracted me to her, so if I saw u dressed the way You were and I still put a ring on it, I expect you to continue dressing in that way, that keeps me focused on just you...and personally I like my woman dressing smartly and sexy, be the head turner anywhere you go, that for me as a man keeps me happy, but if you decide to start wrapping up thinking you are pleasing me, then you are surely getting it wrong...flaunt those legs, if u have a cleavage flaunt it responsibly, if u have a big bum package it in a way that's gonna make me always wanna touch it, and let's have a happy married life |

Before marriage a woman's glory is for everyone? HFOG: After marriage a woman's glory is for her husband so she should try to please him in many areas including dressing. Many men wouldn't want their wives scantily dressed. Married women ought to dress naturedly and decently to bring honour to their husbands. As we mature many things about us should change positively including dressing. |

seriously a group of people raise an issue (a very unnecessary one though) and the first and only person you can think of is Jonathan...can you say how exactly he's the cause of making a muslim body identify a symbol on the naira note? it's people like you who won't wast time to blame Jonathan if you wake up in the morning without an early morning erection, or you may even want to blame Jonathan for Global warming...smfh omenka: Can we all see the depth of division and religious cynicism Jonathan has entrenched in this country??
Jonathan has caused such huge trauma to the Nigerian psyche its gonna take eons to heal!! These were things that pre-date this administration but were totally inconsequential in the scheme of things. In all honesty, I NEVER NOTICED these Arabic inscriptions on the notes until people started talking about them. The gist took its root from Jonathanians' unfounded allegation of a sinister plot to "islamise" the country, a rhetoric aimed at mopping up support from Christian voters and increase their scepticism towards any non-christian contender for president.
We've had leaders of both faiths before Jonathan, NO ONE ever talked about things like these, now, they've become the only things talked about simply because we landed ourselves a president too naiive to understand that politics and religion are two volatile elements that shouldn't be mixed!!
Jonathan came in and has done every single thing infuse into every Nigerian the consciousness of the difference between a Northerner and a Southerner, a Christian and a Muslim, an Igbo man and a Hausa or Yoruba man!!
He has NEVER DONE ANYTHING to make Nigerians see the ties that bind them!!
This is Jonathan's LEGACY!!
Woe unto anyone who supports the continuation of such glaring disaster!! |

majority of Nigerians aren't corrupt, because that majority aren't in positions where they can be corrupt in the first place, one can only be corrupt when he or she stands in the way of what someone else wants/needs and most Nigerians aren't in the way of what people need... onatisi: bros,I think your topic heading is wrong . What you have shown so far in ur write up is that nairaland political discussants are sharply politically divided. Now where then is the dishonesty and corruption in nairaland?secondly , these so called people that argue on political issues day and night here on nairaland ,how many are they? Nairaland has a membership of over 800,000 members ,go and look through the people that argue here as if they have no job ,it is always the same set of people and they are not even up to 500 members ?so will u use the opinion of 500 members to determine the opinion of 700,000 members or even use it as a yardstick for 170million nigerians? This is my point, corruption is everywhere and no nation is immuned against it. Majority of nigerians aren't corrupt and they want a better nigeria and good governance.the major problem with the nigeria majority is the feeling of political indifference ,majority nigerians don't even know the name of their local goverment talk less of knowing the local goverment chairman . People believe politics is for a certain group of people and until all nigerians decide to start asking questions from the lg chairmen to the president ,nigeria will remain the same . Please don't use nairaland as a case study for nigerians .many of the opinions people talk or shout about here is not the true reflections of the nigerian majority. |

you just did what the OP said, played the blame game...how about you think of this...: Imagine you work in a bank and have a customer who is your friend, and one day he comes to the bank, and there are long queues, and he approaches you to help him get his transaction done, that he has no time to queue up, would you, A: help him get his transaction done so he doesn't have to queue? or B: Tell him he has to do the right thing by queueing up?? Also imagine yourself as that customer in that bank where u have a friend who works there and you are in this same situation, will you A: approach your friend to help you jump the queue, or B: stay on the queue no matter how long it may be, and even turn down assistance if your friend offers to help you jump the queue? if you can answer this question honestly within yourself, then you can get the OP's drift.. have a great day my brother barcanista: I don't see how the content of the thread matches with the title. Anyway, the problem is majorly from the Umbrella Camp. They have been propagating falsehood against the opposition and in favor of their Lords and masters in Wadatta Plazza, Aso Rock and their respective government houses. Whenever we bring the truth to the fore, they see it as an affront and rather than address issue, they result to insult. I am one of the people that insist that celebrating a Man like Akpabio variably means celebrating mediocrity. Akwa Ibomites are living in penury despite their huge allocation monthly. Instead of growth, infrastructure, economic improvement, job creation etc, we see few but expensive roads in capital city, stadium that has no impact on their economy and was opened with N1 billion, increased government spending to run its affairs, father christmas government dishing money to celebrities etc. Their young people are PA to another PA to another PA to another PA to a councillor, young girls are washing plates and doing the job of a househelp. Anyway, they seem happy with Akpabio, I wish them well. |

Why did you say so?
I said so because he has switched party. I am not talking about law. I am not interested in law. Sometimes we push the law too far and that is why this country is not growing. The simple fact is that the man has left the PDP. He said it, I did not say it. He said, ‘I am leaving PDP to APC,’ so I would expect that since he has left PDP for APC he should resign his seat which he got from the PDP. |

the declaration date had been planned for a long time, you cannot allow insurgents to hold the country to ransome, you give them psychological edges when you do that, he however remembered to observe a moment of silence for them firstEVA: This is the height of insensitivity on the part of of president - Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, just a day after almost 50 children lost their lives due to an attack by Boko haram, our dear president is declaring for a second term. Shouldn't he have postponed this campaign to at least commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives? |
Politics › Re: Military Plane Crashes Near NYSC Camp In Yola by tonte(m): 1:38pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
control his wife? you are attacking him for personal reasons, the military has always been corrupt, and have not faced this kind of warfare both at home and abroad, and they are not as equip as we think they were (reasons for another day), not even as equip as they are now, no religious insurgency has spiralled to the magnitude this one has, and just so you know, boko haram insurgency is different from the regular religious riots that were easy to quell, yes the buhari regime fought and wiped out an insurgency but that was at baby stages, not in the magnitude of this one, the blame game is more on the side of APC, they even accused him directly of being the founder of boko haram, (El rufai used to accuse GEJ and Azazi back in those days) it's just like how AlQuaeda was the biggest threat that was hit hard and now there is ISIS that's not controllable, thats the same way the previous sects metamorphosed into what we have today that is not controllable, mind you...the havoc 1 terrorist can cause by blowing himself is more that the impact 10 or more soldiers can cause on them while fighting them, these people fight with the hope to die in battle, a soldier fights with the hope to live and fight again, all hands are on deck, you just say he is clueless because everyone says that without taking time to look at the situation beyond what the media gives you, put yourself in the shoes of the decision makers, analyse with the available technology and doctrines we have in the military, then simulate by yourself what the results should be, then compare with what it is today. vicadex07: I agree with you to some extent, but instead of the presidency to tackle these issues of religious insurgency, they keep on putting the blame on the opposition to score cheap political points. This is where his cluelessness and incompetence comes into play. This struggle of islamic extremism has been existing in Nigeria for decades, even during the military administration of buhari years back. They existed during Obasanjo and Yar'aduas tenure also but all these administration were able to deal a decisive blow on them without any humoungous military budget.
Why is the military perceived to be weak and corrupt during this Jonathan administration? Why has boko haram become uncontrollable all of a sudden during his tenure. Yes he has spent the highest amount on military budget ever, but is it bringing forth any results? Jonathan is not the only southern christian to rule this country, obj too is a southern christian so dont give me the excuse that it is out of that sentiment that boko haram has grown.
The simple truth is that GEJ is highly incompetent and doesnt posses the strength, courage and tenacity to rule this country, heck he cant even control his wife. All he and his administration does is sitback, loot the country dry and blame the opposition for all their shortcomings, just like an unskilled artisan blaming his tools for his mistakes. |

but then, you do realise what's happening in the north east is probably an exact replica of what ISIS is doing in Syria and Iraq, it sure isn't a plan for elections or politics, yes they may have sympathizers, but believe it or not, it's more of extremist islam than politics, what leader would be willing to kill his people for political gains, when he can rig the rest of the country like Obasanjo usually did.... boko haram enjoys a lot of local support in the places they attack, because I'm sure you will agree with me that no terrorist group can thrive so well without local support, which makes it harder or almost impossible to finish them off, having said that, no Govt has funded the miltary as much as he has tried to, this thing in the north is part of modern warfare, and in this type of battle military force cannot win it, as we have seen in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, etc, yet you don't see those people accusing their presidents of trying to kill them. in this kind of thing it is normal to try high profile suspects in secrecy to protect the suspect as well as extracting relevant information, you do this in secret because the methods you might use in extracting information may sometimes have to get barbaric...my point is... boko haram is more of fundamentalist violence than political, the moment we agree this is the problem the better for us, He and the military are doing their best and progress if any is usually slow and always has set backs, I can guarantee that if someone else is in power he/she will also have it this difficult, if anything we should be thankful that we are able to contain in to that part of the country...it's just unfortunate that the innocent folks there are going through a lot but this is the sad truth vicadex07: The president knows those behind boko haram yet he refuses to identify or prosecute them. The recent attempt made at prosecuting a suspect was done in secret. why?
Am sure if PDP has the slightest clue that APC is behind boko haram, they would have rounded up the suspects and publicly disgraced APC.
I beleive boko haram is a political tool in the hands of PDP northern elites and the presidency himself in order to destabilize the core north towards this coming election, so that elections will not hold there. PDP knows majority of people from the north will never vote for them, especially fielding a candidate such as GEJ who is from the south and at the same time a christian. |
