dotcomnamename: Just got an email from relationship manager first bank this morning now that they got 18% on 177 days for me. I did not even waste one minute time before I tell them to sign me up with N5m plus compounding interest. . I thought they've signed me up for 17% on 182days yesterday. I think it's pretty much cool now for 18% on 177days?. You have been advised to always omit the value of your investmentsite on this forum. Else you become a target to fraudsters and kidnappers. harlee: for the gurus in the house,i need enlightenment,i went to Sterling bank to open a fixed deposit account of 5m with 8per cent interest rate in 30days, if I roll over in 6months that's like 48% in total, but with treasury bill,i will get 17% in 6months,so please explain how tb is better than fd Don't forget also that your interest on NTB is also given to you upfront and if you like, you can also invest it immediately to earn more and NTB interest is not subjected to Tax where as you pay Tax on your interest in Fixed deposit. You better wise up my brother. |

dotcomnamename: Whats the current rate for 182 days? The guy at first bank told me that the last auction for 183 days was 17.5%. And that available for now is 185 days at 17.10%per annum or 178 days at 18% per annum. I don't understand what first bank mean by that. To my understanding, it also mean 183 days is for 17.10%, which is 6 months, is that correct?
Then i called again today after like an hour and the person i spoke to said available for now is 17.25 for 182 days. I don't understand first bank at all. Sorry to tell you that you are the one who does not really understand how Secondary Market TB works. The available offers does'nt wait for anyone except if there are no buyers |

That being said, scan through this attached PDF file, it may provide one or two insights. Before STANBIC crashes, 75% of the Banks in this country would have ceased to exist. STANBIC is about the 2nd or 3rd healthiest Bank in Nigeria. You can check that out. |

Gavrelino123: I swear bro.....wasting all my time doing fixed Deposit and my Accounting officer will be opening her teeths with me.... The Day i told her that I wanted to do treasury bills. .,she started acting strange and said I'm spoiling her mood.... I had to follow up on her constantly before she finally treated my Treasury bills ...... She's not more nice to me...or smile with me onlike before.. As for me..,I don't fucking care..... What do you want to do with her smile? Does her smile translate to food on your table or Naira in your pocket or account? She was simply smiling at you cause you were dancing to her "tune". Please stop looking at her face to know whether she is smiling or not. Any account officer smiling at you is definitely cheating you in one way or the other. |

bigbroda: Hello guyz, has anyone done TB business in d last one week with GTB? I applied about a week ago and they keep telling me stories I don't understand. I'm sure u guys know d kind of stories they usually tell. Something like they haven't been able to get from d secondary market or so. I just don't understand what they were precisely saying but d bottom line is dat I've not been debited and still hoping dat it would be successful next week. Any advice? Did you ask for secondary market? If you did and they say they don't have, leave the Bank and move on to First Bank or Stanbic where you will get even better rates than GTB. Must you buy from them? |

Just Port to STANBIC OR FIRST BANK and you will very glad you did. your account officer MAY be playing a fast one on you to keep your money as part of the target given to him for the month because once you buy TB, that money leaves their Bank to CBN and will no longer be useful to them |

vitality22: Mehn, i had to open an account with them yesterday. It was so easy and stress free. That's good and you will soon see that the difference is "7up". They will only debit your account with the discounted amount and you get both sms alerts and email notifications, and if you want the hard copy, you'll get it on request Their bid for last auction for the 91-day tenor was exactly the CBN stop rate of 13.5% which I got from them and usually, their bids are mostly the closest to ALL CBN stop rates followed by First Bank. |

dyonpoint: Thanks a lot bro. You nailed it, you gave me exactly what i wanted..... Please do answer this 1 question for me. Are mine allowed to specify rate at secondary market or will buy it at the bank rate too? At secondary market, you can't specify any rate. It's "what you see that you buy" if it pleases you. Pls still take to my advice as all these have been answered in previous posts |

vitality22: so that means one needs to open an account with STANBIC IBTC? Please what is their percentage for 182days at the secondary market and how much is the minimum amout to be invested? Yes if you want to do your NTB with them but I advice that you open savings A/c so that you don't get debited with all these miscellaneous deductions that Banks do and within one week maximum, you will be able to do NTB with them. The percentage either for 91days, 182days or 364days is not static what happens is that their minimum amount like most Banks is N100,000 and you have to go with their bid except if you want to invest above N50 million in which case you can indicate your own rate and if your bid is successful so be it and if not, your money is returned. Many of us on this forum appears to have "ported" to Stanbic because we can't dictate the bid rate since the advent of the N50m minimum rule and Stanbic happens to be the Bank whose bid is always closest to the CBN stop rates, followed by First Bank and Stanbic debits our A/c only with the discounted rate, leaving our up front interest in our A/c while other Banks will debit all few days to the auction and credit you with the up front interests few days after the successful bid. Hope above answers your questions? |

dyonpoint: Please those talking about the Stambic primary market, could you please help out with more info on how to go about it and what to expect. Thanks My brother, you will be doing yourself a lot of good IF you can be very patient to go and read the older threads from page 1 to the present page. That was what I did in order to understand more about Treasury Bills. Many gurus on this forum have answered most if not all the questions that may be asked by newcomers Because some people don't want to stress themselves, they keep asking the same questions that has been answered times without number just as it happened today within 7 minutes that two people asked same question that was answered 7 minutes before the second person asked same question. By the time you familiarise yourself with the previous posts, I bet that you are not likely to ask questions cause they have been answered severally by many experts on the forum. If you are very serious about acquisition of knowledge about Treasury Bills it won't take you one week to read the previous posts. |

Not bad all after! Stanbic has not been on 18.3% threshold for long as you claim o. I got 18.462 on 15 June 2017 for 364 days and the one before that was in the region of 18.5%-they are really doing very well. |

Gavrelino123: God Bless you Bro.....no wounder she was really frustrating me to liquidate my fixed Deposit.... I had to liquidate it through another of the Bank staff without her knowledge....After she got to know that...she was shocked. . I then told her that I must Suscribe for Treasury Bills..Because she was in charge of Tre5as Bills,I couldn't escape her,.....She gave me a paper to write an instruction which I did.,I was waiting to be debited but to no avail..,I later went to the Bank and she said my treasury bill wasn't treated that I should wait for another Bi_Week ..,I refused..kept disturbing her line until she treated my T-bills two weeks after.. Now i understand..... God Bless you bro She really played a fast one on you and ensured that she kept your deposit to boost her target for the month before letting you off because of your persistence. Should you or any other person face this kind of treatment, simply walk away from the account officer or staff and go report to the Branch Manager and threaten to move your account to another Bank if your wish is not respected. I bet you, they, including your account officer will be on their knees expecially if you add that you will make a report to their Head office about her attitude. I did that to them before at Ikorodu by calling FIRST CONTACT (0144855000; 0700347782668228; 07080625000) in their presence and the officer involved was in "Pepper soup" |

Gavrelino123: Please explain why we shouldn't involve our Accounting Officer ?.. please explain.... Your account officer is never happy that you are going to do NTB with your money in the account. He will rather prefer that you put it in a fixed deposit or savings account which will be to his credit with the management as they are always given monthly targets so that the bank can have your money to trade with ( even in the NTB that they would prefer you not to go for-Selfish reasons) and give you peanuts as interests. Going for NTB moves the money away from their reach and what they'll get is the insignificant commissions from the transaction |
