The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up. - Paul Valery In whose hands does your destiny reside? What are your success factors? Does your success depend upon the success of your employer? Upon the decisions your spouse makes? Upon the fickle ups-and-downs of the stock market? Or upon (God forbid) the suggestions of your broker? If you don't run your own life, somebody else will. - John Atkinson Only when you realize that you are the only one responsible for your own life, that you must take charge and take control of your own fate, will you begin to shape your destiny. I must create a system, or be enslaved by another man's. - William Blake Plan Being the chief executive officer of your own business is a dream come true for those who don't want to answer to anyone and have the energy and fortitude to persevere through business obstacles. While this avenue isn't for everyone, every day new entrepreneurs seek employment freedom by opening their own businesses. Ready to create the life you want? Then, let's play! Get out your pencil and a notebook, and let's begin the fun but important work of designing a brand new life. Wake Up! There is no one who is incapable of achieving success. No one. There are famous "C" students and high school dropouts who have been able to achieve extraordinary success. So, if they can do it, then you are just as capable of achieving the level of success that you desire. Attitude Adjustment: Once you truly wake up to the fact that you are perfectly capable of achieving your goals and being successful, then you need to start thinking and acting like it. If you are not feeling confident, excited and certain of this truth, then you need to work on yourself first. HOMEPLAY: Go to your local library or favorite bookstore and peruse the bookshelves. There are a number of excellent books out there that will open your mind to exploration and inspiration. Pick up a copy of Daniel Pink's book, A Whole New Mind. Consider the future world Daniel describes. Make notes on your own thoughts regarding the ideas on those pages, and make your plan to get yourself into the right mindset for success. Vision: What do you want? What are your dreams? What will it take in order for you to feel successful in your life? HOMEPLAY: This exercise will take some time. Write down your goals, your dreams, your aspirations. Ask yourself, "What do you want out of life?" Then spend some time visualizing yourself surrounded by those things: that expensive car, the bulging bank account, your dream house, your dream job, that fantastic body, or that fulfilling relationship. Envision every detail — sketch it in your notebook, cut images from magazines that embody it and tape them in your journal, think about it often until you have a clear picture of the life you want to lead. Fear: Fear exerts an incredible influence over all of us. Sometimes for good reason. But, many times, for irrational ones. Fear of failure or fear of success, either way you slice it, is an impediment to attaining your goals. For that reason, it is vitally important that you address your fears and deal with them immediately. HOMEPLAY: Now that you have your list of goals and dreams, make a new list of all the fears you have surrounding them. Why haven't you realized your goals yet? What is preventing you from pursuing your dreams? Write them all down and list next to them the worst possible thing that can happen, what would the consequences be, and how likely would it be for these to actually occur. Then go back and determine whether your goal is worth the risk or not. Program Yourself to Succeed: Your mind is an amazing onboard computer that literally creates your experiences of the world. If there is only "Garbage In" (negative self-talk) then you will only get "Garbage Out" (failure and disappointment). Instead, you will plant the seeds of success in your brain, so that the only things you get are blossoms of success. Affirmations are the key to this step. HOMEPLAY: With your list of Dreams and Goals in mind, make your own list of affirmations and integrate them into your mind and life. Know Yourself: In order for you to succeed, you need to know what skills, talents and expertise you bring to the table. Perhaps more importantly, you need to understand your weaknesses, the things that you are not good at, so that you can find the right resources, the missing talents and skill areas you will need to succeed. HOMEPLAY: Make a list of all your strengths and weaknesses. Review these with a trusted friend or advisor and revise your list. This will give you good insights into areas that you may be taking for granted. Filling in the Gaps: Before you can begin on creating your dreams, you may need to fill in the gaps you have identified. You may have the germ of an idea, but the know-how is missing. Begin to fill-in the gaps by finding your resources. Research - If you require knowledge, then you must devote time to research. Search for information on the Internet, study in the library, spend time in bookstores reading and picking up the latest books you will need. Talk to experts in the field, many of whom are happy to provide an informational interview. Make a date to meet for lunch or tapas at happy hour. Talent - Seek out the talent you need. People have all kinds of surprising areas of expertise. Find out what your co-workers do in their spare time. Ask your neighbors about their hobbies or club affiliations. You will be amazed at the resources that are all around you if you just take the time to find out about the people in your life. You may discover the very expertise you're looking for right beneath your nose. Broaden your Connections: Regardless of how many people you know, in order to get your ideas in motion, you will surely have to broaden your pool of resources. Join clubs, organizations, networking groups where you are most likely to find the resources you need, and start making connections now. Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. - Wernher Von Braun Map It: No, don't go to MapQwest. It's time to list your goals and break them down into manageable bits that you can actually handle — bits that will build upon themselves to reach your dreams. HOMEPLAY: Begin to lay out the course for your road to success. Create a map on how to achieve your goals by listing out the steps necessary for getting to your destination. What are the short term steps? What are the long term steps? If part of your lifeplan involves moving your family to a healthier environment, start by listing out what has to be done to pull up stakes. If you break it down into sections, it is simpler than you think. Step 1 Write a business plan that develops a business idea into a viable product or service company that understands its target market and how to reach those buyers. Research industry, demographic and small business statistics through resources such as the SBA, the U.S. Census Bureau and your local Chamber of Commerce. Step 2 Forecast start-up costs, annual operating costs and potential revenues. Check with leasing companies for office or retail space. Speak with contractors and developers regarding costs of renovations, product development and engineering. Estimate how many employees you will need and the costs associated with those employees using information from the Department of Labor. Related Reading: How to Replace a Startup Company CEO Step 3 Choose a company name. Search the county clerk's name database as well as the secretary of state's database to ensure no one else is using your company name. Step 4 File articles of incorporation with the secretary of state where your business resides. With the incorporation filings, include a list of existing board members, stating your name as the CEO of the corporation. Pay all required fees for the filing. Step 5 Obtain proper tax registrations. The Internal Revenue Service requires corporations to maintain a separate tax identification number obtained by filing form SS-4, Application for an Employer Identification Number, online or via the phone at 800-829-4933. Contact local state revenue boards for state registrations and business permits and licenses. Step 6 Obtain financing for your business through personal funding, small business loans or venture capital. If you are seeking a loan or investors, speak with your local SBA representative to see what loans or grants you qualify for or what resources are available for venture funding. Provide potential investors with a copy of the business plan. Step 7 Open your business and execute your plan. Most businesses fail in the first few years because of undercapitalization or poor planning, according to the SBA. Make sure you have the funding to keep operations open while you build your business. http://smallbusiness.chron.com/own-business-ceo-2043.html

From a tribe of semen-drinking men to the community of brothers sharing a wife, amaze yourself with these 10 shocking tribal sex traditions from around the world. 1 The Sambians: The semen-drinking tribe - Papua, New Guinea The Sambians: The semen-drinking tribe - Papua, New Guinea To become a man in this primitive tribe, boys are removed from the presence of all females at the age of seven, living with other males for ten years. During the ten years, the skin is pierced to remove any contamination brought upon by women. For the same reason, they also regularly incur nose-bleeding and vomiting caused by consuming large amounts of sugarcane. To top it off, they are required to ingest the semen of their elders, which is thought to sustain growth and strength. When they are finally introduced back into the tribe, they continue to engage in nose-bleeding at the same time as their wives' menstrual cycles. After he heals up, the penis is then cut lengthwise on the underside, sometimes all the way to the scrotum. Blood is then dripped over a fire in order to purify it. From then on, the male will urinate from the underside of his penis instead of the urethra. The real question, however, is how does destroying a boy's 'manhood' bring him into manhood? (Source) 3 The Trobrianders : The tribe where kids start having sex at 6 – Papua, New Guinea The Trobrianders : The tribe where kids start having sex at 6 – Papua, New Guinea These islanders from a remote tribe in Papua guinea seem like a case study in the ultimate consequences of the sexual revolution: girls want sex just as much as guys, and kids start having sex at a very young age — 6-8 for the girls and 10-12 for the guys — with no social stigma. There are few customs about dating to inhibit “hooking up” and, of course, revealing clothing has been taken to its limit, with girls actually going topless. However, while everybody is having sex whenever they want, premarital meal-sharing is a big no-no. You're not supposed to go out for dinner together until after you get married. Voodoo practitioners make this journey each summer to worship the goddess of love. Pretty normal stuff, right? Wrong. Picture a bunch of buck-naked people twisting and wriggling around in mud mixed with the blood of sacrificed animals, with cow and goat heads thrown into the mix. I'm sure there's nothing like it if you're an exhibitionism lover. This is the case in the Himalayas, where there is little land available for farming and agriculture, and families with more than one son would be faced with dividing up their land were each son to start his own family. The solution? Find one wife for all of their sons so that they can live together as one family and keep their family plot intact. Also, as told in the National Geographic documentary Multiple Husbands, this arrangement works best when the wife is adept at "scheduling" time with each brother. The Wodaabe's first marriage is arranged by their parents in infancy and must be between cousins of the same lineage. However, at the yearly Gerewol Festival, Wodaabe men wear elaborate makeup and costumes and dance to impress the women – and hopefully steal a new wife. If the new couple is able to steal away undetected (especially from a current husband who may not want to part with his wife), then they become socially recognized. These subsequent marriages are called love marriages. This concept spurred the Egyptian pharaohs to ritually masturbate into the Nile to ensure an abundance of water." The ancient Egyptians were so inspired by the act of self-stimulation that at the festival of the god Min, who represented Pharaoh's sexual potency, men masturbated in public. (Source) 8 Ancient Greece: Where homosexuality was completely out of the closet Ancient Greece: Where homosexuality was completely out of the closet The ancient Greeks did not conceive of sexual orientation as a social identifier the way Western societies have done for the past century. Greek society did not distinguish sexual desire or behavior by the gender of the participants, but rather by the role that each participant played in the sex act, that of the active penetrator or the passive penetrated. This active/passive polarization corresponded with dominant and submissive social roles: the active (penetrative) role was associated with masculinity, higher social status, and adulthood, while the passive role was associated with femininity, lower social status, and youth. (Source) 9 Ancient Greece: When pederasty was the social convention Ancient Greece: When pederasty was the social convention The most common form of same-sex relationships between males in Greece was "paiderastia" meaning "boy love." It was a relationship between an older male and an adolescent youth. A boy was considered a "boy" until he was able to grow a full beard. In Athens, the older man was called erastes, and he was to educate, protect, love, and provide a role model for his eromenos, whose reward for him lay in his beauty, youth, and promise. To love a boy below the age of twelve was considered inappropriate, but no evidence exists of any legal penalties attached to this sort of practice. (Source) 10 Modern Iranian culture: Where you can have a temporary Marriage if you pay for it Modern Iranian culture: Where you can have a temporary Marriage if you pay for it We all know that Muslim practices are among some of the strictest regarding sexual intercourse and the relationships between men and women. For instance, Muslim couples are only allowed to have sex in the missionary position. It's considered gross and degrading for a man to ask any other position from his wife. However, in certain Muslim countries, like Iran, a young couple who would like to have sex before they're ready to marry can request a “temporary marriage.” They are allowed to pay for a short ceremony, with a written contract dictating the amount of time they will be “married.” Once this is done, they can have sex like bunnies without contradicting Islamic law. I know a lot of people here in America who probably wish we had something similar! http://www.oddee.com/item_98435.aspx

Press statement from the Governor's office The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has formally directed that the appellations; His Excellency and Executive , be dropped in all official and informal communication with him. He would rather prefer to be addressed simply as Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State. The Governor wants all public communication to be concentrated on the work and policies of the state and not on the person of the Governor and has therefore directed all contractors, political groups, individuals and party loyalists not to put his portrait on billboards, posters and signages but to only use the pictures of ongoing projects in their billboards and posters. The Governor has also directed the general public to remove all congratulatory posters and election billboards littering the environment as these public posters are defacing the environment of the state. He has further charged the people of the State to be partners with Government in ensuring a healthy and beautiful environment. He is also, by this directive, re-assuring the good people of Abia State of his mission of service to the people and therefore urged the citizenry to key into the new vision. Signed: Godwin Adindu Chief Press Secretary to the Governor |
