Not people but just a section of Yoruba Muslims because their brain is demented and incapable of reasoning anything beyond Asiwaju anus but they will go naked and run mad before elections over Obi matter

Accusing tribes and abusing groups of people are typical examples of not being objective. Mr. Tinubu has supporters across all regions of Nigeria, not just the southwest. Being objective is arguing with facts why Candidate A isn't the right person for the job. Not abusing any supporter or candidate.

For example, I don't believe Tinubu is the best person to lead us because of his health and his allegedly criminal past. His mindset makes him appear desperate, and his philosophy is not right for us currently. No one is absolutely sure of his history as it has got different versions (his age, his school, his career, etc). There are more reasons why I don't support him. They keep using Lagos as an example of his legacy, and I think this is a deliberate attempt to be deceitful. Lagos, like any other state, is a product of past and present leaders. Plus, it's one state that is favoured by Nigerian peculiarities (I can say a few more things about this last point).

Now, I've said what I said without attacking his supporters. I also did not insult or abuse him. This is being objective.

Politics / We Will Never Get The Right Leaders If We Fail To Be Objective! by TONYE001(m): 12:45am On Jan 09, 2023
I just finished watching the just-conducted ObiDatti session organized by Channels TV. I returned to Nairaland to see what the public perception of this interview is, and this got me terribly disappointed.

I'm rather shocked that a good number of us have thrown objectivity to the gutters. It's disappointing that people can't make arguments with objective points. They seem to resort to abuses and throwing all sorts of tantrums.

While we engage in tribalism, thieves and crooks continue to privatize our collective wealth. While we attack each other in every electioneering period, the wrong leaders attain power.

Why don't we engage in objective discussions? Why don't we make informed decisions for once? The president must not be my brother. He must not be from my region. We only need the most convincing candidate. This is why we must listen them, analyze their thoughts, and review their pasts.

I think Mr. Obi and his colleague did a great job tonight. I'm pleased with their responses on crucial national matters like education, security, health, among others. I'm particularly pleased with their view on the emigration of Nigerian professionals.

Politics is tiring. It's too bitter. Politicians and electorates can be irrational. People can see an obvious fact and make a different proclamation because of personal gains. Greed, I'd say.

Really, what's the way forward? When will we get to a point when people will market their candidates without constituting nuisances? When will people drop their greed and see things for what they are?

When?

You failed to answer this question...Which money will be redirected to the state? Where will the money be redirected from and to who will it be redirected to?

Before now, are you telling me there were no skilled labourers in the whole of Ogun state?

How does the success of CU demonstrate that Ogun state is safe to conduct business?

Is it today that CU has been existing and is it the first educational establishment or business investment in Ogun state that it is now the standard for measuring safety in Ogun state?

Which population increase are you referring to? Can you estimate the population increase that will accrue to the whole of Ogun state because oyedepo built schools of law and medicine in sango ota?

How many students will the school of medicine atteact and how many specialist doctors will they attract?

Is there no teaching hospital in Ogun state at the moment and is there nowhere in Ogun state to do MRI scan?

How does the training of medical doctors and lawyers at CU mean "more money flows into the state"?

Which jobs are they doing and who are doing the jobs?

According to you "....the higher the population, the higher the economic interactions (buying and selling of goods and services). The more the economic interactions, the more the profit. Businesses will boom once there is increased profit.".

Which higher population are you referring? What is the number of people that will flock into Ogun state from other states because oyedepo is building schools of law and medicine in sango ota?

What will they be buying and selling in the whole of Ogun state because of the building of schools of law and medicine at CU, sango ota?

Which businesses will boom in Ogun state because of schools of law and medicine in CU, sango ota?

You are merely repeating yourself, sir.

I answered all the questions you raised and all you said is that I "failed to answer your questions"?

It appears you have something in mind, I can't repeat myself.
To make our discussion productive, I did not only answer your questions but I applied BASIC ECONOMICS concepts just to show you that I really. Intended to have an educative discuss with you.

Why don't you show me exactly how I failed to answer your questions? Thank God my response is open for all to see.

If you have any other thing to say, please, by all means, go on.

How is attracting more population to the state, redirecting money to the state and convincing people to invest in the state development?

Which people will the building of schools of law and medicine attract to Ogun state?

Where will these people be and what will they be doing when attracted to the state?

Which money will be redirected to the state? Where will the money be redirected from and to who will it be redirected to?

How will oyedepo building schools of law and medicine inside Canaan land sango ota convince people to come and invest in Ogun state?

1. More population, more specialists (skilled labourers), increased human capital. Net cash flow increases too. Of course you know how redirecting money to a state amount to development. The success of CU in the state will demonstrate that Ogun is a safe place to conduct business. The population increase means there will be increase in demand...this will also increase supply, and there will be an increase in the net flow of cash/income.

2. First, the medical school will attract medical students and specialist doctors to train them. The teaching hospital will also serve the state. The specialist healthcare facility will attract patients and open new grounds in the health sector. For example, if they offer MRI services, they'd be a referral centre as this is not common in our environment. The teaching hospital will also train resident doctors and other allied healthcare specialists. Overall, more money flows into the state. Same applies to the law school.

3. Don't get this third question. They'd be doing their jobs na. Refer to my point 1 above, please.

4. Let me put it this way: the higher the population, the higher the economic interactions (buying and selling of goods and services). The more the economic interactions, the more the profit. Businesses will boom once there is increased profit. Once these businesses boom/expand, they'd need more factors of production (land and labour). Ogun will enjoy new, great structures...and employment will increase. SME's will thrive, bigger companies will not be left out. The revenue of the state will increase as the more the businesses, the more the tax. With the extra money, the state will develop in areas the government deems fit. So, the money will be redirected to private and public sectors.

4. Already answered this.

Thank you.

How is building school of law and medicine at covenant university now the same thing as development to Ogun state?

It is development in every sense, sir. It will attract more population, it will redirect money to the state too. It will convince others to invest more in the state...plus many other ways.

Must have been 2015 or 2016. Got a call from a nurse at my dad's practice to turn up real quick. My dad, a FWACS, FRCS(Ed) general surgeon, 30 years as a Consultant had been physically attacked by relatives of a surgical patient that had passed. I don't remember the details of the patient's case but patient had been taken to all trado-medical homes and churches without respite. Why my dad did not just refer them to FMC Abeokuta beggars belief. He had always been known as a super-doc and I'm sure in his head he could salvage the patient. Anyway, patient made it out of OR but died post-op. Family came and attacked him during his morning ward rounds in his practice just outside Abeokuta, in an area of Oyo State called "Oke-ogun" and I was in Lagos. Came with cudgels and all and his 60+ year old self had to literally run. I was in Lagos when the call came. I mobilized awon goons mi and we stormed the yard. Pure mayhem that day. That Yoruba tag line "Olopa ma ko gbogbo wa" came to real life. Since that day, he swore never to take on Kwale patients (patients were from Ukwani in Delta State and we were also Deltans bordering Ukwani people, so he basically took the patients because "na my brothers"wink. Must have done him a lot of internal damage as my dad passed within one or two years of the incident.

RIP to one of the greatest surgeons that ever lived

What a sad experience! So sorry about the passing of your dad.

IGNORANCE, frustration, poverty, and sometimes, pure hatred and jealousy are major players in a typical doctor-patient relationship in our environment. If not, how does one arrive at a conclusion that "a doctor killed his person" without conducting an autopsy? Most of our people take their relatives to all sorts of corners before bringing them to the hospital...and they expect the doctor to perform magic...

I once watched a video where a certain pastor was violently kicking the abdomen of a gravid woman in the name of deliverance. Such stupidity!

Our people will go about exhausting their resources on babawalos et al. and when the person is almost gone (also when they've run out of cash), they'd bring the poor individual to the hospital. You see ignorant people that know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the human body/health will be giving idiotic medical advice to friends/neighbours/etc...causing more harm/damage.

We once had a case of obstructed labour. This woman had been to a TBA where she was forced to push...she ran into exhaustion, and soon began to bleed. She was rushed to the emergency ward...her baby had died and she lost her uterus. Young woman in her twenties. She almost died, as a matter of fact. If she had died, who knows Her people would have caused havoc in the hospital.

We need to revamp the system. The National Orientation Agency has a lot of job to do. We need to have readily-available armed security in our hospitals, especially in volatile centres. And, most importantly, healthcare workers must be willing to protect themselves at all cost.

I went to visit my mum in the hospital straight from work. Not long, a doc came to administer her evening shots. I was keenly observing him as I usually do and noticed his error just as he was about to give the shot.

How do you know the dose was in excess? What's the name of the drug, and what was the dose he was about giving to your mum?

I totally understand you trust me buddy.. I am not in the medical field.. Life first before any other thing is what I am talking about... is there a way that a dying patient could be stabilized or rescued from the point of death...

I am not saying that he/she should be given full treatment.. Just enough for him or her to be alive first before Money negotiations kicks in.. That's just my line of argument..

If every patient pays up, there'd certainly be some money to accommodate emergencies. If the government decides to create funds to cushion hospital cost, emergencies will be covered.

But what happens in situations where some patients refuse to pay, and the government is doing next to nothing to help the situation? How will consumables be acquired? How will hospital staff (that will attend to the patient) be paid?

If a private facility continues to "save lives first" and patients fail to pay thereafter, they'd close down in no time.

I have witnessed doctor attention to patients in Nigeria and outside here.ln Nigeria, doctor believed they are next to God.ln most cases, the leave most of their responsibilities for matrons. When you need their attention and they are nowhere to be found, matron will tell you,its not my job.At other times, when a patience is brought to an hospital they know quite alright that the patients may not survived the illness, they will start to do series of tests and be using the sick for experiment until the patient died.Tell me, after wasted thousands of naira if not millions, how you will not transfer aggression on them. Many years ago when my wife was to give birth to my first child in Europe, l was treated like somebody. You will see the professional ways things were done.As a young African man, they asked me, Sir,would you want to stay with us in the labour room? l said, yes. ok.
They gave me hand gloves, cap and mouth cover.when they discovered l couldn't bear my wife crying, they took me aside and asked me to sign for operation. I said no, no.lam from a Royal family, just to avoid operation. Later they told me, they gave my wife the next 15 minutes to press.Meanwhile, they made hot tea for me asking me how is Africa.?As God will do it ,my wife deliver safely. Tell me,which general hospital in Nigeria, such would be done to you? No, Not even in a private hospital.

Wow. Let me attempt to clarify things here.

1. The health systems in Nigeria and abroad are truly not the same, the same way health systems are different across other countries.

2. Doctors don't believe they are next to God. Doctors don't assign their jobs to nurses or other professionals to do. If you've seen any instant where a doctor asked a nurse to do his job, mention it in a quote.

3. A doctor can't be with you/your relative all the time, not in our environment at least. The patient-to-doctor ratio here is extremely poor. In some hospitals, a doctor that's on call will be responsible for the entire medical or surgical ward (M and F). How do you want him to be with your patient all the time?

4. Doctors don't order for tests "to use patients as experiments." Where did you even hear this from? If a doctor sees a patient and immediately pronounces that the patient will die without doing anything, you'd come here to cry for his head. Now, the doctor intends to help and asks for some investigations to get a better understanding of what's up, you are now accusing him of this No doctor will order for investigations without first stabilizing the patient. If you bring in a patient in an emergency setting, after stabilizing the patient, the next thing is to try to work out what the actual problem is...this involves clerking, physical examination, and investigations (tests). If your patient dies while some tests are being conducted, is it the doctor's fault

5. Comparing the Nigerian situation to your experience in Europe: healthcare workers don't even have enough hand gloves and other PPE's to use...most hospitals can't afford to give these to the husbands of women in labour because they want to witness the delivery. In most teaching hospitals, the labour room is a poorly-demarcated broad room. We don't allow patients' spouses to come in....because we would be exposing other ladies' privacies to you! We don't have enough facilities to have one patient to a room... Our peculiarities make it unfair to compare our health system with that of developed nations.

6. You want change? Talk to your leaders. Vote rightly. The entire system has to be revamped! It's not the doctor's fault that things are like this. Doctors are doing their best, really. A LOT OF TIMES, they go as far as paying for patients...they donate blood for patients...they do a lot...because the system does not even meet the minimal expectation of what an ideal hospital should be.

7. In conclusion, ensure you (and your friends/family) come to the hospital early. Don't wait until it's too late. If you truly feel that the doctor didn't handle your case as he should, there are legal options to pursue justice.

8. Doctors have the right to defend themselves. If a doctor feels threatened, and there is no possibility to escape from the situation, be rest assured that he'd fight back, to whatever extent.

Let's call a spade a spade.

Refer to my first paragraph.

what's your point bro?

Are you making up excuses for the thousands of avoidable deaths at the hands of careless, insensitive and nonchalant Nigerian Doctors and nurses?

While I condemn the murder of this Doctor, I will also condemn the carelessness, insensitive and nonchalant handling of patients by Nigeria doctors and nurses.

I'm afraid this might be a new trend for family members to adopt when a patient dies at the hands of a careless and nonchalant Doctor or nurse, regardless of the consequences. Damn the consequences!

RIP to all those who died at the hands of these nonchalant and careless Doctors.

My humble Advice to doctors and nurses should be, please, place some value on human lives.

I do not deny that there are bad doctors, just like there are bad engineers, lawyers, etc.

But you should know this, please. Our society and culture make practicing medicine DIFFICULT.

Here's a typical scenario: A woman is terminally pregnant. This pregnancy wasn't managed in any hospital. From conception, she has been patronizing traditional birth attendants. She goes into labour. But there's a complication - it's her first pregnancy, her labour is obstructed. She goes to the TBA centre for delivery. Those guys don't know her labour is obstructed. They do all sorts of things just to zap the little money her family has. In the process, she ruptures her uterus and she goes into severe bleeding. Now seeing that this woman is almost gone, she's packaged and sent to the teaching hospital. Of course, there's little or nothing any doctor ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD can do. The woman dies. The story now flies around that she died in a teaching hospital.

This is what doctors see in our environment. Patients don't present on time. They do all sorts of things until the last second. Our people don't make the doctor the first point of medical consultation. They'd rather see a pharmacist (or an ordinary drug seller), a nurse, traditionalists, etc.

You get the point now?

A doctor that moves from one surgery to the other, manages all sorts of cases in the A & E is lazy.

A doctor that runs clinics where he sees over fifty patients daily is lazy.

A doctor that uses his resources, sometimes even donates blood for patients he doesn't even know ab initio is lazy.

Well like I said earlier, Nigerian doctors mistake their job for an engineering or bank job, where you can play around and still get the figures right..

in medicine we talking blood flesh and bones.. Foreign doctors know this facts.. Only Nigeria doctors keep playing around with people's lives and people souls

There are incompetent professionals everywhere: incompetent engineers, plumbers, lawyers, doctors, etc. Generalizations are bad, any day, anytime.

There are great Nigerian doctors that do a whole lot for their patients. There are docs that make a lot of sacrificed for their patients. There are great Nigerian surgeons that perform magic in the theatre even though they don't have all the equipment.

If you have a bad experience with anyone, address your issue(s) with that person. Don't go generalizing and saying all what you're saying here.

Leave innocent biafrans alone. You can rescue her just under 24 hrs but Chibok girls have been in custody for over 4 years now

Innocent? What do you mean, please?

They kidnapped the lady, assaulted her sexually and physically, and you say they are innocent?

Let's leave Chibok girls alone. Do you mean that since the security agents couldn't rescue those girls, they should continue to fail in other rescue operations?

These guys are in for some major trouble. You can't imagine how excited it is to know that the lady is alive and rescued. It's also sweet to see that the culprits have been arrested. Hopefully, the lady will get justice.

Politics / Re: Tinubu Aborts US Trip, Returns To Nigeria Discreetly by TONYE001(m): 4:12am On Dec 11, 2022

Obis supporters can't resist the urge to daily open anti-Tinubu threads or comment about him daily. An example is that guy up there. More will soon land. It appears Tinubu is their most feared nemesis. They post more about Tinubu than their candidate. They don't bother at all about Atiku and other Presidential candidates - they are no threat to them but Tinubu.

I am the most marketable Presidential candidate -- Tinubu

But there are also supporters of Tinubu that can be found in all pro-Obi threads throwing abuses and causing chaos.

It is nauseating that this is what politics have become in our country. We leave intellectual and objective discusses for useless banters. What a shame.
