The truth is that anybody that wants to attain tertiary education should sit down and plan how that particular knowledge will help him/her immediately, taking note of our environment. That is the reason Medical courses are Competitive because to an extent it is a knowledge that could be applied almost immediately after graduation.

people should stop going to the University to study just " any course" except you have a plan of course, if you don't have a plan, just use that 4 or 5 years (if ASUU allows) to learn a skill in order to avoid a rude shock!

I'm sure if your wife had learned this tailoring instead of going to the University to spend years+NYSC+ years looking for a job, she would have become a big Madam today or at least comfortable.

Everything in Nigeria Nowadays is Planning!

Going to School is good for self development. But if it doesn't give you earning immediately, learn something that will. You can use Ur education to compliment it.

Sorry about your situation. A lot of us Bankers, Doctors, Accountants, Lawyers etc also went to the university and have never been out of a job since we graduated years ago.
This is just my opinion though, but if a person who graduated over 5 - 10yrs ago hasn't been able to find a job, I cannot help but think that there's probably something wrong with the person himself or his quality of education.

Many just keep carrying certificate and applying for work to get money. Look for something to do, do it very well, it will build you on the long run. Don't compete with other people.

Nigeria's northern states were so too poor to improve educational standard of their own children, they (governors) ruling their states like strangers. Northern Nigerians supposedly to be most democratic region enjoying the benefit of democracy but opposite is the case educationally.
Apparently, northern politicians portray abandon land because of poor leadership compare to the southern region. Not that the southern region have gotten there but a bit better in comparison.
If the northern region can put more effort to improve their educational system they stand a chance to enjoy sustainable peace.

The south is better off because many are fighting to give their children better education and better chances of having good life.

Free school feeding was also introduced to help them still remain in school after they cried that hunger is chasing the students.
The North seems over-pampered. Federal character is still tilted to favour them. But the problem is that it has made them not to push hard generally.

Sometimes I feel like to be a Northerner in order to enjoy the privileges coming to them. But I still love being a southerner , cos I have learnt to work harder on my own for a better future instead of being so reliant on government.
