Why not apply for something that directly relates to ur first degree or present Job, when u get to Canada u change to the course u prefer.. Moreso to ur finance add 1 to 1.5m.. To b on the safe side..

trojcity:
No it's not directly linked.
I'm an IT person.

But I can find a connection using some modules in the course that has to do with managing teams and project management.

I can also link to wanting to develop business Tools so I have to learn about it hence me picking the course.

Why not apply for a course in ur electrical engineering path, Once u get ur visa u can change to whatever course u wish.. Don't know how it work sha, but I think it's possible...
em3kae88:
Hello Guys,

I have over 7 years experience working as an electrical engineer in construction and I want to utilize the study-PR option to migrate to Canada but with a switch in career to supply chain management through a PGD program. I have read stories of visa denial when your course of admission does not match with your experience which is making me to develop cold feet. Please I would appreciate a candid advise on my situation and chances of getting a visa.

There;'s no point arguing over this BOSS, this screenshot is just someones idea or opinion which doesn't fall within the armpit of the IRPA and the IRPRs (subsections 30(1) and (1.1) of the IRPA) Law as regards study permits for international applicants, the Visa officers are bounded to stay within the confines of the law which states that a decision must not be speculative, And if they must rely on surrounding facts in determining the outcome of an application that should be done with proper explanation, And dis explains why 70% of most JR cases ends up with out of court settlements and 90% success rate.

Like I already advised, the applicant is still very young and should explore the EE route...

Lastly I appreciate all the work and efforts you put in to assisting other...

Hello Topacs,
When I write things on here, they’re either
1) facts with proof
2) my opinions (and I always put a disclaimer if this is the case)

An individual can be rejected based on poor academic records. See the below picture, it’s from an ex-visa officer saying the same thing. I’m not saying if he applies again, he won’t be approved but he has to give reasons why he’s capable of going for further studies and why and how he’ll be successful.

All the best

Am sorry to differ, the issues raised by the VO are not in line with the law under the IRPA and the IRPRs (subsections 30(1) and (1.1) of the IRPA) a futher look into the law states that
IRPRs requires a visa officer to issue a study permit to a foreign national if the individual has established that they:
- have applied for a study permit in accordance with the IRPRs;
- will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay;
- meet the requirements of Part 12 (Students) of the IRPRs;
- have been accepted to undertake a program of study at a designated learning institution (see also subsection 219(1) and the requirement for an acceptance letter from the designated learning institution). An individual who intends to study in Québec must hold a Certificat d’acceptation du Québec (subsection 216(3) of the IRPRs);
- have adequate financial resources to pay the tuition fees for the intended study program and to maintain themselves and any family members during the proposed period of study, including payment of all travel costs;
- have enrolled and will remain enrolled until completion of their studies; and
- will “actively pursue their course or program of study”.

It also states that
An Officer must reach a reasonable decision and a reasonable decision must not be speculative. The jurisprudence does not allow for speculation; an acceptable decision must be reasonable and explainable

I conclude that this is a case where the visa officer err in refusing to grant the Applicant a study visa? and The Officer did not provide any reason to explain why he was not convinced that the Applicant would leave Canada at the end of his authorized stay

1. Poor Grades: What are his reason
2. Parent occupations:And so? that's no reason
3. Given family ties or Economic motives: No reason (How and Why)
4. Course and background not reasonable...This clearly shows that the officer didn't make decision based on the documents before him.

My take and advice to the applicant is,
Just reapply and pay ur complete fees if possible..
Tweak ur SOP linking ur current Jobs to ur future goals and ambition and y u feel security is an upgrade to networking and give examples..
Researches u've made in other countries and Nigeria and why the Canadian college curriculum stands out among the many schools u analyse.
Get ur reference letters, leave request and approval, pay stubs and pensions statements and a possibly a written note from ur employer that u will return to ur Job after studies, if its possible. Above all back ur application with more prayer.

Finally u are still very young, with age at ur advantage, It would be better to go tru Express Entry and save yourself all dis plenty headache..

Chocs:
Poor grades can actually be a reason for refusal, I’ve seen it a few times. It can make it appear that you’re not a genuine student or you won’t be successful when you get to Canada. Your parents job might also have a role, the gcms stated weak economic and family ties. That points to your family not being well established. You can counter that by submitting more documents from your dad’s job, because the gcms said your dad’s job was just listed. You might want to add documents that show that your family is doing well and you are not running away for a better life. Good bank statements, assets, documents showing they’re doing well in their career etc

All the best

But is having a poor grade now a criteria for denying visa, At least the school saw he met the requirements and gave him admission, even from the GCMS notes 50 to 60% is like a lower credit or and how is that a poor grade.

Secondly Computer science and a Networking experience is in line with cyber security or is it the fact that mother is a travel consultant and dad a business man?

Chocs:
Hello,

Sorry to hear about your denial.

The VO is concerned about your poor grades and it seems your proposed course is not in line with your previous study and work experience.

I feel the visa officer just denied u for denying sake, nothing concrete or serious in his or her assessments, the reason given in GCMS notes are not reasons to deny anyone visa.

Moreso, if u study Computer Science and going for Cyber security then it's an error on the part of the VO to say ur proposed study isn't in line with ur background. Its well....

Hello Gurus & all Nairalanders
Would appreciate your help.

I submitted a study permit application for a Bsc in International Marketing at University of Manitoba. I have a previous Bsc. In Insurance (Graduated with 2:1) and i'm currently a Marketing and Sales Executive.

I indicated in my SOP that i picked International marketing because i wanted to understand marketing from an international perspective ,and another B.sc because Masters is advanced and i needed to understand the vital topics.
I also stated that I'd be taking over my father's business (Real Estate) upon the completion of my studies.

However,I got a refusal letter on 24th Sep 2020 on the following ground;
'I am not satisfied you will leave Canada at the end of your stay based on the purpose of your visit'.
Ordered gcmnotes which indicates proposed studies not a reasonable expense and accorded less weight to employment ties to my country of residence. Please find gcmnotes attached below.

I intend to reapply as i now have a Post Graduate admission to study Strategic Marketing Communications in Conestoga College.

I need help on how to tackle;
1. Proposed study as a reasonable expense. ( Will the PGC admission tackle this reason?) How can i prove the sudden change?
2. Employment ties. (I am employed. Submitted personal SOA).

Thank you so much for your time.

Is 1CAD now N400....Please always use sites such as https://www.xe.com/ for your conversion.......
Luckymama:

You will need a co-sponsor o. You need at least 4M (10k) Cad as proof of funds along with extra funds for other things (books, flights etc). Please try and build up your account a little and look for a Sponsor too preferably a close family member.

Hello house. I have a Bsc in sociology and I am CCNP Certified. Can 8 years of working experience in IT networking qualify me for the application?

How many years of work experience can ACS consider, if I do not have my first degree from the relevant field?
Travel / Re: DIY Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa - Part 2 by topacs: 8:26pm On Jan 31, 2020
Go for a review, but before then check the ACS revised guidelines as regards not been able to get reference letter on letterhead, I believe it's stated that the person referencing you must attached their ID cards or something like that, U can check and get the real details before u apply for a review...
Bodacious1:
Hello people,

I received the results of my ACS assessment this morning.

My first employment was assessed as suitable for all the years I worked there; however my second (and current) employment was deemed not assessable (reason - "due to insufficient documentation"). I have worked at my current job for almost seven years so I find this quite worrisome.

More so, I submitted the same kind of documentation (payslips, pension statements and bank account statements) for both employments. The only difference is I submitted a reference letter (written by HR on company letter head etc) for my first job, while I had to submit an affidavit for my current job because my employer explicitly informed me that they do not issue skills attestation letters.

What do you advise I do? Request a review or appeal from the ACS?

Also, please how many points does this educational qualification amount to: AQF Bachelor Degree with a Major in computing

In the meantime, I plan to first contact them via email regarding this result.

Thank you.
