Go back to where you did your nin and tell them that you're using it for passport, they'll know what to do

I took it close to the passport office. The purpose was clearly stated and known before I did the NIN. But it seem they self are confused. Hence the plea. If there is any other place that it can be done quicker, please help out. Thanks

I have not even applied (renewal) because of the NIN issue. I have done all the NIN biometrics etc but not yet out. I intend to use FESTAC, Lagos. The NIN needs to drop first before application, isn't it I have someone in immigration checking for me, I keep hearing it has not dropped. And when I checked it too through the *346# and the NIMC app, no record yet.

I'm applying for international passport, never had one before. I used my maiden name as surname and chose Mrs as title.
My husband is my next of kin. The immigration officers during my interview convinced me to change my title to Miss and use single as my status.
They said that since I'm using my maiden name, that it would be extremely difficult to change the name to my husband's surname should I want to do so in future if I register as Mrs. Note also that this would affect my next of kin relationship as I cannot state single and fill 'husband' as NOK.
Now if I take their advice, it may be difficult to apply for my husband to join as my dependant since our wedding date showing on the certificate is earlier than my international passport registration date which I claimed single as my status.
If I go ahead to do a change of name, I'd have to pay afresh to apply for international passport including paying for change of name on my national ID.

I want to ask them to register me with my maiden name and indicate married as I don't intend to change my name anytime soon
All my official documents including school application bear my maiden name

Don't postpone the evil day, if you intend to change surname, DO IT NOW especially if you have all needed documents showing you are married. Cheers

Thank you everyone for this thread. I decided to do the same day renewal option for my son(Abuja) and my parent(festac). My parents went for theirs today and the passport is ready. They paid 50k each and got the VIP treatment. I went this route after I read about people's sad experience.

If you are going through more than one schegen country, you need a schegen visa.

Congrats. Is your LO's passport from a visa exempt country? If yes, then that passport will not be stamped. If no, then you need to contact them.

I read somewhere in Part 2 that if one had stayed cumulatively for 6months in another country over a period of time, that person will need a PCC? How true is that?

In 2015, I spent 71 days in the USA, purpose of visit was Medical Tourism
In 2016, I spent 30 days, purpose of visit was for a wedding event & holiday
In 2017, I spent 77 days, purpose of visit was Medical Tourism.

Collectively, I have spent over 6months. Please do I need to get a FBI PCC? If yes, how do I go about it?

It's still not up to 180 days. And visits are not consecutive. But check cic website for details

Firstly, I'm about leaving Nigeria for USA for a masters degree but I am very defiant to start my EE process. School resumes in Jan 3rd 2018, and I would leave before Dec 24th. Currently, my BSc school has dispatched my transcripts for evaluation. I couldnt do the IELTS in Nigeria because the earliest date is Jan 3rd or so . . . So I have to take the IELTS in USA.

Also, I am currently employed but will be resigning next week.

My question is this . . .

1. Is it advisable I procure my work reference letter now from my employers before I resign, so I can have it handy when submitting the application from the USA? Yes, its possible to get the employment letter even after I've resigned but I know I can speed things up and ensure there are no mistakes while i'm still in Nigeria, however, i'm worried that the date on the letter may be an issue for IRCC. Assuming I get ITA in Feb/Mar 2018, will my work reference letter dated Dec 2017 be a problem?

2. Since I will be leaving in the next two weeks, I have to get my PCC from Nigeria now. Will the date issue mentioned in (1) above also be a problem here?

3. How long does it take to get the PCC in Lagos and what are the steps to take?

You can download d form inline. Both u and Ur spouse do the fingerprints and take them along. Be sure to do more than 1, maybe 3 and check for d format online too so it can be useable. Price range is usually from N3500 depending on Ur bargaining power. All d best!

But if you have obtained a contact there, you could ahead make to make an appointment with the person and not spend time waiting in case they go out.

If you have Access Bank Naira Mastercard Debit, you can try it. I paid IQAS fee two days back using same naira debit card and was successful. I was charged NGN59,233.44 for CAD 215. This mean the rate used was 275.50

However, you can only do equivelent to 200USD monthly on Access bank while GTBank have 1000 USD monthly.

Your number has not been picked has it? Wait till it is picked and if you dont have the ECA yet, reject the invitation. and you reenter the pool. I think your ECA certificate is dated, which shows the sequence of events!
