Religion / Re: Is MMM A Sin? by topdee(m): 8:16am On Dec 07, 2016

I want to ask a question.

1. Where does the 30% come from ?
2. For each 30% generated it requires the funds of *new* members to pay up for it. So what happens when new members stop rolling in ?

This is not an attack am only curious

Your analysis doesn't work that way. MMM uses somewhat the same model financial institutions use, there's no way everyone will demand their money at the same time, in fact only a small fraction of participants collect money at different intervals. But instead of allowing financial institutions dictate how your money should be routed or spent, the ideology is to eradicate the involvement of intermediaries like financial institutions. The same ideology birthed Cryptocurrencies. How do financial institutions make money? Don't be deceived by what they tell you. Financial institutions operate using pure pyramid schemes. How are they able to pay outrageous salaries and manage operations expenses? You think say they do businesses that yield interest with your Money? They are just enriching themselves with your money. Lol.
MMM is a movement: Imagine a situation where everyone in Nigeria is doing MMM or perhaps most people in the world are doing MMM, meaning most traders, merchants, in fact most businesses will be doing MMM, so let's say perhaps participants patronise these businesses, do you know the same money these business owners are paid will be put back in MMM?, cos they are members also remember!, the money keeps on recycling between participants. This is what bank and other financial institutions enjoy, whenever you purchase anything from anyone, the money leaves your account and enters the seller's account, who is also operating using these banks, so in reality your money doesn't leave the bank, it just enters another bank account in these same banks. What happens when financial institutions like banks, pensions managers, insurance, etc, stop having members? Or stop receiving deposits? You be JJC. The only thing that can weaken MMM is the panic by these media haters, but guess what? MMM is becoming stronger daily---BTW, I just got Alert grin smiley wink wink cheesy

I'm praying for you brother.

I have two options, but you have only one.

Option 1: If there is indeed no afterlife, then you and I have nothing to lose.

Option 2: If there is indeed afterlife, then I have nothing to lose (with conditions met), but you lose.

A very brilliant and self-confident student seeking admission into the University will still take both WAEC and NECO to nullifying odds.

I have actually been praying for you, Seun Osewa since the day I discovered you are an atheist.

Have you asked yourself the question; "What if there is afterlife?

Think about it deeply.

If there's afterlife what makes you think you'll be saved? If one goes by what is written in the book called Bible, majority of the so-called Christians/those claiming to be Christians won't be saved, being a Believer and being Christ-like are two different things, it is very rare for humans to be Christ-like. You have to have Christ-like qualities to be saved.
But guess what? Religion is an art of Man.

You've just said what has been on my mind for some time now.

A lot of people keep their cool because of their because of their religious beliefs. Take that away, and this world won't contain us anymore.

Everyone would define what is good and bad in his or her own way.

For example, Since there is no god( hence no eternal punishment), some people might think it okay to kill people for fun.

Just imagine a world where no one believes in any god; anything will go in that kinda world. Religion actually keeps the world in check.

The world operates based on the rules of religion. Although some of their rules are absurd, every religion preaches peace in one way or the other. And most people easily adhere to it because they believe it was set by one supreme being or the other. Now, If -- in a world where no one beliefs in a supreme being -- we humans decide to make a peace rule, it will not hold. No one would step down for anyone, No one would want to serve anyone and so on.

Religion is one of the factors that keep this world balanced. Take it out, and humanity is doomed!

Let's just leave people to believe what they want and try to be good people.

These are the reasons why religion was created by man, for the sole purpose of indoctrination. But it has been bastardised, it is doing more harm than good holistically.

AreaFada2:

I think it is more complex than this, although looking good is good, even if for health reasons only. Just like a decent degree class improves chances.

Many people, men and women, unleash their real personality after getting married.
All that pretence to get hooked soon fall aside.

We generally seek what we don't have be it sexual fulfillment, romance, peace of mind, etc.

Sometimes it's just the fear of "missing out" on the goodies believed to be out there.

It is easy to say "teach your wife what you want from her, do this, do that. But how many people are amenable to correction these days? People are too proud nowadays.

I know young beautiful women whose marriages have crumbled within 3 years of marriage. A careful analysis of them over time, gives me as a man, quite possible reasons. Of course their would have played their own part.

For example some are well educated but lack some basic intelligence. They take everything happening at home and discuss with often unmarried friends and their birth families. Without filtering the info. Now, many unmarried friends will advise you not to put up that poo. And thay have not info found a steady bf yet o.

Others nag over the slightest things. Men treasure peace of mind. Avoid nagging.

Yet others are sexually inhibited by religious morality. Like some I know who did "no-sex" courtship before marriage. And then claim to not enjoy sex as a pretext to restrict hubby's access to "uhuru". grin cheesy Yet you don't expect him to eventually cheat?

So there are a range of psychological, sociological and other factors. It's quite lazy to naively put it down to "being a dog" or a "bitch" if a woman.

Yea exactly, it's the same thing I'm saying. I said physical well being is one of the factors to loving marriages. Op was only making reference to physical attributes, and I'm making Op understand that there is no justification for not looking good.

Not true, I couldn't agree with you less. Take a look at this scenario: Let's use universities or tertiary institutions as a case study; a student's ultimate goal is to get a good job after graduation, and as we all know the best way to achieve that is to graduate with 1st class or 2.1, but in reality those grades don't guarantee job placement. Some students with low grades even get jobs before students with high grades, but the fact still is that 1st class and 2.1 increases ones chances of securing good jobs. A woman's physical attributes creates a better platform for her man to stay faithful, and it's one of the criteria to win a man's heart, but doesn't mean it's the sole ingredient to man's faithfulness; just as good grades doesn't guarantee job placement. It applies to every facet of life, even living a healthy life doesn't guarantee longevity, but it's a contributing factor.
Abeg women out there, try as much as you can to look good often for your man and your health, likewise the men, also men like what they see, it's a known fact, give him reasons not to look elsewhere. .
inemani:
Hello Mamas!
Yesterday I read a thread of a man who was curious as to why women blow out of proportion after marriage/childbirth. I snapped out after he wrote this: "And why do they express shock when their husbands go after trim and shapely ladies outside? Is it that they didn't know that men are typically motivated by sensual sights? Are this category of ladies aware that the game is becoming dangerously tighter because "oga" is constantly inundated with young, trim, energetic and sexy girls on a daily basis; while his own wife keeps growing fat and out of shape and looking like his mother?" This motivated my own thread!
Take a look at these true life stories:
1. A former colleague of mine who is married with a daughter lives very close to me. She's still in her twenties, tall, elegant and endowed with this hourglass shape men die for. kiss Her husband is quite young too, with a comfortable source of income. You will think they are dating when they stroll outside - babe is still hot because she waist-trained after her baby, talk about flattest tummy! Now I was, to say the least, shocked, when I learnt Oga was going after other ladies, still in our neighborhood shocked I mean, these girls can't measure to the wife half.

2. A lady I know advised me after my first baby to look trim and sexy so that my husband won't go after other women. You won't believe she is a mother of four, I really looked up to her for inspiration in my keeping fit regimen. Babe did not know her perfect gentleman was busy banging anything in skirts around town. She probably thought depriving herself of certain foods, working out and staying trim would put Oga in check!

3. What about our celebrities who retain their pre-baby weights after their babies yet their divorces are most times based on infidelity? what about countless beautiful women who put in their very best to maintain their shape but are still being cheated on?

What is my point? My fellow women, if you think you are staying fit, trim and sexy so that your husband wouldn't cheat on you, please change that mindset. A CHEAT IS A CHEAT, no point going on a long thing! Stay fit because of the health benefits, you wouldn't want the health risks associated with obesity, would you?
All these Nairaland boys bashing African Women with little or no respect, tuale!
All the men (married and unmarried) who gallivant around in potbellies yet criticize childbearing women, chop knuckle! It's a man's world, isn't it?
All the cheaters continue cheating, the day of reckoning would sure come

Women please, stay fit and trim not for Oga but for your health! *drops mic*

Strawman:

Don't get me wrong. I meant that when we have different options, God already knows exactly what we will eventually choose, but it doesn't mean that we couldn't have chosen the other options. We have the natural ability to have chosen any of them (I.e. free will), but God (being omniscient) knows exactly where decisions made out of our free will will take us. I don't know if you get what I'm saying; I believe it's basically the same thing you're saying but we got off somewhere.
Religion / Re: Am I Destined To Sin As God Already Knows What I Will Do Next? by topdee(m): 1:38pm On Jun 19, 2016
Logically, what you wrote is rather ambiguous and exaggerated. How will you say knowing something will happen doesn't mean something else can't happen? Instead, if the knowledge you have about something has prerequisites, it means what you knew initially was mere hypothesis. Our God is prefect and knows everything, like someone said on this thread, God is life, God is love, He knows everyone's actions before we act, and if you claim we have freewill and God knows our actions before time, how is that freewill? It rather means we were destined to make such actions. Look at the story of Judas iscariot, his actions were inevitable.

Believe what you want to believe, all I know is life's ideology is equivocal. Logically, without sentiments, without religious bigotry, everyone knows the difference between good and bad, the most important thing is spending one's life being a good person.
Strawman:

@bolded, is that what the Bible says? People have made many misconceptions on many issues without comprehending things. I've not read the Bible from cover page to back page, but so far I've not seen any scripture that implies people are predestined to go to heaven or hell.

Logically, God knowing what we are going to do does not mean that we can't do something else. It means that God simply knows what we have chosen to do ahead of time, out of our own free will. I can keep a bowl of ice cream and a vegetable on the floor, and I definitely know which one my 5 yr old nephew would pick, but that doesn't stop him from being able to make a different choice. I know what he's going to do, doesn't mean he's not able to do something else...I just know that he will do it.

S247:
"In the beginning was the 'WORD' and the 'WORD' was with GOD,(Jh. 1:1) The "WORD" means JESUS CHRIST. God knew what man would end up doing, so He already planned out the coming of Jesus Christ 4rm the beginning so that the man that he created will not be totally wiped out. To ensure that His aim to make man live forever in the garden of Eden is accomplished. But it is only for those who accept JESUS CHRIST and do His will.
You seems not to understand my questions. GOD knew Man, before the existence of Man. Before Adam was created God knew Adam eating the forbidden fruit was inevitable, meaning Adam was destined to eat the fruit no matter what. What point is HE trying to make.
Also, why create Man when HE already knows not all human will receive salvation, it's not fair to mankind.
Many are born into this world oblivious of what life is all about with God already knowing the life cycle of the person, yet evil prevails. The heart of mankind is becoming more cruel by the day.
The truth is, you can never answer my questions, cos you don't have the answers. You are just quoting mundane scriptures, I have had discussion with many pastors and scripture unions, none have answered my questions, all they do is quote mundane scriptures and refrain from facts of the questions. I know the Bible, at least more than the average person, if I decide to ask crucial questions here y'all will say it's blasphemy.

GOD knew the devil is very cunning to decieve them, that was why HE gave them the INSTRUCTION beforehand. And HE also knew that the outcome is death, and HE already told them (Gen.3 v 3).That's why people die.Initially man was made to live forever.

You didn't answer my question. Did HE know Man was going to eat the forbidden fruit beforehand? Why even create a very cunning creature, what's the point?
HE is omniscient, Man taking from the proposed forbidden fruit was inevitable, God knows every Man's tomorrow, irrespective of how Man acts, meaning whatever we'll do tomorrow God already knows. Am I right?
Why will you say Man was made to live forever, when THE CREATOR already knew what Man will end up doing, before he created Man.

Man was living a problem free lifestyle before the devil deceived him, so man was sent out of the garden of Eden to till the ground b/cos of disobedience.(Gen. 3 v 23). Yet, GOD did not abandon man, so HE has already made an UTOPIAN world for those who obey HIM against all odds (Rev. 21 v 1-7). That same "DEVIL" is still at work polluting peoples mind. BEWARE!!!

Please answer this question: Did God know the Devil was going to deceive Man beforehand? And did God know the outcome beforehand?

Food for your thought.

Man is responsible for his actions. God is a being of love, and he created man with freewill and allowed evil to exist so that he would eventually deal with it forever

Really? Listen you yourself. What is the essence of allowing evil to exist? Why create a problem when you know the repercussions?

Religion has been bastardized. I remember when I was much younger, what was often preached was "SALVATION", modernization has turned churches into franchise, you'll see up to 5 churches on a street talking about the same God, many embellish the doctrine, making reference to verses in the bible without looking at the overall picture/scripture. Another truth is that many people worship their pastors and not God, but they are too blind to see it.

Many things in the new testament contradicts the old testament and vise versa, we tend to turn the blind eye to simple details, we allow prejudice cloud our judgement.

Joshthefirst:
Sir, I know you may simply be mocking, but I'll answer your question.

God handed the earth to an agency he created: Man. Man was in charge of maintenance and management. Until the enemy came in. After that it was things fall apart. Man sought to dominate not just his environment but himself. And suffering was introduced into the world. But the way out has been established.

God has been up to executing his master plan ever since. Right now that involves agents and ambassadors of his plan scattered over the world and enlightening man on his universal way out and his provision of a perfect world in the near future.

God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient: Why did God hand everything to Man when he knew the outcome already, irrespective of what Man decides God already knows. What is the point of existence when God knew there would be good and evil, even Man never asked to be created, so why blame Man.

Food for thought.
