Mhizzard: Time has change. We need to do away with colonial prison. The built it specially the way they see us as animal.. why didn't Britain build same type in Britain. Mauritius built their word class prison for 80million dollars which is relatively small.

The Minister of interior need to look into building new prisons all over Nigeria to the standard abroad. we need this change now in our prisons. Even pig farm is more better than any of our prisons. When you think of prison, I bet your thoughts are dominated by images of iron bars, dark hallways, sub-par food and general overall dismay in the air. But what if I told you not all prisons look like that. In fact there are some around the world that, despite being legit prisons, are the exact opposite of what I just described. Here are 12 best prison in the world – institutions that have changed how we look at correctional facilities. 1. Bastoy Prison, Norway Located on Bastoy Island in Oslofjord, this prison houses a little over 100 inmates who, within the prison complex, enjoy luxuries like tennis, horseback-riding, fishing and sunbathing. With tasteful cottages to house them and lush farms to work on, the prisoners at this minimum security institution probably often forget they’re prisoners. 2. HMP Addiewell, Scotland A designated learning prison, Her Majesty’s Prison Addiewell in southern Scotland allots each of its resident inmates 40 weekly hours of productive skill building. With a special focus on helping inmates transition back to civilian life in a purposeful and fulfilling manner, Addiewell’s 700 prisoners are sure in good hands. This is the one of the best prison in the world. 3. Otago Corrections Facility, New Zealand While its security measures are not taken lightly, Otago provides its inmates with comfortable rooms, and attributes great significance to change through skill building. Holding classes in light engineering, dairy farming and cooking among other things, Otago strives to rehabilitate effectively. 4. Justice Center Leoben, Austria A quaint European residence for non-violent offenders, the Justice Center prison gives each of its prisoners a single cell, with a private bathroom, and kitchenette, plus a television. All that and their fully-equipped gym, basketball court and outdoor recreation area would make for a considerably cushy sentence, if you ask m 5. Aranjuez Prison, Spain Addressing the way that correctional facilities rip families apart, this innovative institution provides for infant children to live their first years with their incarcerated parents. Equipped with cribs, Disney characters on the walls, and a kids’ play area, Aranjuez gives incarcerated parents a chance to experience parenthood despite circumstances, and a parent to those too young to comprehend the reality of being imprisoned. 6. Champ-Dollon Prison, Switzerland Previously infamous for overcrowding, the newly refurbished residences in Champ-Dollon boasts of spacious triple-occupancy cells that include an attached bathroom. Ample facilities such as these allow the inmates to feel less like prisoners and more like university dorm-mates working together towards rehabilitation. 7. JVA Fuhlsbuettel Prison, Germany This Hamburg prison is home to many long-serving inmates who enjoy spacious cells that have beds, a couch and a private shower and toilet along with plentiful natural light. Among its many facilities, JVA Fuhlsbuettel provides its prisoners machines to do their laundry and access to a conference room and a recreation room. Grabhouse 8. Sollentuna Prison, Sweden This correctional facility houses its inmates in private cells with comfortable beds and attached bathrooms. The prisoners have the luxury of a state of the art gym, an open-for-use kitchen, and a spacious recreation room equipped with a TV and a couch. 9. Halden Prison, Norway Surrounded by ample greenery and natural light in plenty, Halden is called the most humane prison in the world for a reason. Every inmate enjoys comfortable quarters with relative privacy. Skill-building classes, a rec room stocked with TV shows, movies and video games, a fully equipped gym and an actual functioning musical recording facility make this prison every long-serving inmate’s dream. 10. Cebu Prison, Philippines While Cebu Prison may not match the luxury standards of the aforementioned facilities, they have championed the cause of inmate recreation and creativity. Inmates at this correctional facility indulge in singing and dancing to a selection of musical numbers. Not only do these prisoners perform for civilian audiences, they even sign autographs. Arrest Records Here’s hoping it’s not long before correctional institutions around the world take their example to promote a more holistic approach to rehabilitation. ‘Cause hey, I wasn’t planning on breaking any laws, but it would certainly help to know that if I did, I’d go to a prison that won’t keep me from watching Westworld. 1 Like |

I cant stand the sight of that wig anytime i see it on nigerian lawyer. Many african countries dont use them even the british they are copying dont wear them. and to think that the thing look like rag on some of them and they are proud to wig the dirty rag on their head says alot of black mindset and mentality. |

Politics / The Longest-running Indigenous Medical / Pharmaceutical Brand In Africa by topsyking: 9:28am On Jul 06, 2023 |
In 1918, pharmacy apprentice and entrepreneur, Jacob Sogboyega Odulate created an analgesic to cure all sorts of ailments from common colds to major illnesses. Over 100 years later, Alabukun is the longest-running indigenous medical / pharmaceutical brand in Africa. Alabukun, which means “The Blessed One ” in the Yoruba language grew without significant marketing or advertising and can still be found in pharmaceutical stores in Nigeria. It is widely available in neighbouring West African countries, and all across the world; even as far off as China. How did an uneducated young man build a brand that has outlived him and is still being used today by millions across the world? 1. He understood and took advantage of the market He started his business at a period when Aspirin-caffeine powder brands were just starting to spring up in the United States. In Nigeria, there was no modern pharmaceutical industry and only a few western drugs were imported and distributed in the country by European companies. Jacob took advantage of both an emerging market and his customer needs by starting his product during this period. Alabukun old packet 2. He knew his customers’ needs and sought to satisfy them By mixing European and traditional medicine, Jacob created a product that had European credibility and local reliability. At that time, Nigerians barely had access to western drugs, all they used was herbal medication which had no recommended dosage and therefore caused more harm than good. Alabukun, produced from both local materials and imported patent drugs was perfect for his customers’ medical needs. Alabukun advert Alabukun powder 3. He created a product that worked Alabukun being in powder form means, when compared to tablets, it dissolves faster and therefore works faster. People called it “gbogbonise” a drug that cures all ailments as they did not have to buy a different drug for colds and then for fevers. They just got one Alabukun and mixed it with water to cure pain, fatigue, migraine, prevention of blood clots, back pain, rheumatic pain, toothache and other conditions. This versatility helped with its marketing as it was spread by word of mouth by consumers who attested to its effectiveness and affordability. Alabukun 4. He took branding seriously It is amazing to know that in 1918 Jacob knew to create a unique identity for his product so it will be distinguished from its foreign counterparts. He did this by naming it his already popular Yoruba nickname; Alabukun. Then he made up an identity with a red and black background with the name fully spelt out and warped to fit into an oval shape and plastered it on his product packets. That logo has hardly changed and is still being used today, even on signages, promotional materials and vehicle branding. This shows that a simple mark and identity can be unique, functional and recognisable 104 years later. Alabukun logo 5. He made his product accessible Jacob did not play hard-to-get with his product. His product was available, accessible and affordable. From the very beginning, his first drug stall was close to a street market and could be found everywhere as opposed to the white man’s stuff that was difficult to find and afford. He also made it fast-moving by packaging it in smaller, conveniently-priced packs. Presently, a sachet is 200 naira (45 cents). Alabukun in a shop 6. He used his reputation to promote his product As he was already known and trusted as a respected medicine man, putting his picture on the packs added a layer of authenticity. He also made a manual in which he identified numerous medications for diverse ailments. By doing this, he solidified his position as an expert in the medical field. Jacob Odulate Alabakun packet And this my friends is how to build a 100-year brand. 2 Likes 1 Share
