I think the chakra composition of the rasengan is where the problem really is, constantly keeping it in compressed rotation takes utmost skill and concentration that adding another thing to it seems impossible. So kakashi decided to go for a chakra composition that is less troublesome and will allow for further alterations..

I did now...When Kakashi said if ADDING nature energy to rasengan is easy, he wouldn't have developed the chidori, in the anime, the word developed was switched for created and during that same scene, he used the word developed when he said Minato developed Rasengan, so Developed in the context meant created..

As for the part where he said at that point, he managed to copy it, Sagenaruto explained that kakashi seeing Minato use the jutsu could have tried and learn it on his own, and for someone of his intellect and skill, its not far fetched. And then if he did copy it with his rasengan, his rasengan too should have been of the same size with Minato's but that is not the case.

Its not certain that at that particular point in time he has the means to carry out the so called body switch, you know at some point he was a cripple and couldn't use his hands...I think that was a major setback to his progress too

As for the sharingan squeezing out that's not true.
1. When you lose all the chakra in your body you die
2. When the chakra is have left to sustain the use of Any NINJUTSU is gone, you can't keep up the sharingan and it has to be shut down

to buttress your point, he could even use the sharingan to suppress the tailed beast and could come in handy when he wants to take its chakra...

but come to think of it, why didn't Madara make himself a jinchuriki of the 9 tails instead of going through the stress of summoning and sharingan control?

kimco: i think that scene made him fall in luv with the sharingan not itachi. otherwise within a few days after that incident he wud easily have gone for itachi and most likely succeeded. remember when itachi beat him... orochimaru said "an uchiha right infront of me" not " itachi ryt infront of me" after that incident sasuke was the only uchiha left so ofcos he wud go for him.

That woulda been a cool idea, but Orochimaru doesn't have a stable body, so using the eyes on a weak body is subliminal suicide. So the logical thing is to go for both at once, its why he said an Uchiha, not a sharingan.

Remember that scene where Orochimaru was peeping through a closed door and saw Itachi going through some sort of suicidal training and attempted to stop him? What Itachi did there made him start coveting his power. His primary target was Itachi, but when he couldn't get him, he turned to his brother, that's why he kept comparing Sasuke's power to Itachi whenever the chance comes up. If he hasn't done tests with the Uchihas, how then was he able to implant those eyes into Danzo? I can bet he started his research on them after seeing what Itachi did and came to the conclusion that the best way is to get their body and whose body is most suitable than that of the strongest on the clan?

Perhaps...but people that are jinchuriki have always been people with high chakra reserves, and i dont think Sasuke has such, besides they have their sharingan which squeezes our whatever amount of chakra they have left to stay active.

At the time Orochimaru saw Itachi for the first time training with the shuriken, he coveted his power but at that time, he hasn't perfected the jutsu and by the time he did...Itachi has matured(don't forget his rate of progression is prolly the fastest). Oro is a genius but a very proud one, a Sannin level shinobi wouldn't just for any specimen, he'll go for the best which is Itachi at that time, but since the best is untouchable, he went for the pseudo-best.

Before the curse seal, he made go through a test of fear where Sasuke had to stab himself in the leg to awaken himself and escape.
