Nairaland General › Re: What's The Most Traumatic And Scariest Event You Have Ever Witnessed? by tosyne2much(m): 7:57pm On Oct 03, 2017 |
Afam4eva: The most scary thing that i have ever witnessed was when i was probably around 7 years old in a village called Elimgbu in the outskirts of porthacourt. The village is divided by a road that leads to the airport at Omagwa...So, we were playing football in front of an Asemblies of God church and the ball made it's way to the road and one of us made an attempt to go pick it from the road and he was hit by a speeding vehicle and he died on the spot. His mom was on the other side of road feeling pity for the child that just got hit without realizing that it was her child. The boy's name was "Avis" or "Elvis".
Another scary ish happened in 2002 when i was at my house on Allen Avenue and heard a very loud sound on the roof. "Who is playing ball on the roof", i said to myself. It happened again and again and it caused a lot of panic. Only for us to turn on the TV or is it radio and heard the then governor of Lagos state telling people not to panic. Nibo? We zoomed off towards Lagos-Ibadan expressway but while on our way, we saw the scariest thing ever. Nigerians of all creed and tribes were running and begging people to please carry them in their cars. A woman was telling us to just carry her child while she waits for her fate. it was really scary and as we got to Lagos-Ibadan, there were tons of cars parked by the road side waiting fr the next course of action. That day was scary.
The third one happened when i was serving at Mmahu community in Ohaji/Egbema in Imo state. My girlfriend wasn't feeling too well, so on the advise of another corper, i have her * (can't remember the name of the drug) which she took and started vomiting uncontrollably. We had to take her to the maternity hospital in the village and after she was attended to, we had to come back for a few more days. Now, on one of the subsequent days, we went to the hospital in the evening and as we entered, the entire place was like a grave yard. On entering, we saw a little child laying on the bare floor. On getting to the counter, i heard the mother of the child, some of her people and the nurses conversing in Igbo and i learned that the chid had dad. The mother had to back her dead child and walk to the mortuary. I guess your second experience was during the bomb blast that put Nigerians in a state of discombobulation? |

richiepolymer: Are you guys sure you want to read my own experiences? Hmm......I've had more than 10 traumatic experiences but let me choose one to share.
Way back , when I was in SS3 about to write my SSCE. I remember I and my cousin went to a midweek all night church service somewhere distant from home. Preparation for the SSCE exam was in high gear and we couldn't afford to miss any revision class. At about past 12:00am I told my cousin we had to leave and go ho.e so we could make it to class later that nor ing else we would be late and the punishment unthinkable. As we made to leave, our next compound neighbour with whom we share same fence, a prince in the town noticed and joined us to go home. Seems he had been waiting for an opportunity to go home too. We were happy he joined us because he would help us all through the vigilante road blocks since he is a prince. Just as we were walking along the road were the general hospital morgue was, suddenly something appeared before the three of us.....glowing, in a white long dress with hair very close to the ground with a smaller being just like a kid in the same appearance. I remember the thing saying "hey we have met again" with arms spread out. Guys! The elderly man (prince) took off into the darkness, my cousin took off also, I just quietly froze and tiptoed away from their path. I felt my blood turn to ice that night. My head was heavy like it was filled with dead weight. I turned back if I could see anything. I didn't see a damn thing! When I later caught up with my cousin and the neighbour, I met them panting and asking what the thing was. How was I supposed to know? Imagine the agbaiya man asking me what it was. We couldn't sleep till daybreak. It wasn't hard to notice us in class that all wasn't well. Our countenance was dull. And one classmate asked why we were behaving as if we had seen a ghost. The way we turned and looked at the guy enh? Hahahaha. So when people with fixated beliefs about this world say all sorts, I just smile. If you haven't had first experience on some of these spooky stuff you may not believe let Aline understand. This is just so hilarious and you need to see the way I was laughing hysterically when reading about your experience. I just dey imagine the speed wey you go use run dat day |

tonididdy: 2014 a gun was pointed to my face...i swear I saw heaven that day.
I went to write NDU post-utme in bayelsa, the road to the school is a narrow one of so many curves and bridges (cos the school is on an island). I was coming from portharcourt where there was a 7pm curfew strictly no movement.
the exams ended at about 5.30pm for me, I had to go back to PH ad I didn't know anyone I could pass the night with in the school. it was difficult getting a Bus back to PH that evening prolly due to the curfew but alas a truck with a model man in front as a passenger came around demanding passengers to PH, without any second thoughts I hopped in along with 2other students who were en route to PH.
the journey kicked off, I knew I was taking a risk because I would never be in PH before 7pm, just few minutes into the journey, we noticed cars reversing and alerting other cars a robbery was on going in front of our path...Jesus and it was dark already, the mopol man in front seat ordered the driver to reverse back to the last police check point we had passed earlier for reinforcement (what! you mean una want use me take go catch thieves). I couldn't hop down as it was dark and a highway for that matter, I was just praying and mY heart beat trippled per second. two extra mopol with their guns jumped into the back of the truck and off we were to a 'rescue mission'...getting to the scene of the robbery...all had dispersed and the mopols came down and started shooting in the air....i was just screaming lol, as the gunshots were next to my ear....next thing...some persons started screaming from inside the thick bushes "don't shoot...dont shoot oh, we are passengers", they were passenger from the bus that got robbed and had scattered into the Bush for safety.
we didn't stay longer after that as the original mopol had instructed the driver we should continue our journey...which we did and left the other two mopols behind at the scene. I was shaking with fear accompanied with cold from being in the back of an open truck on high speed at night...it wasn't Upto a 2mins ride I noticed we were no longer 3 in the back of the truck but 4...so the other guys started a conversation with the new guy about why he was on our ride and behold he claimed to be the driver from the bus that had been robbed and he stuck his right hand out and he had a pistol pointing to my face saying he wrestled it off one of the robbers...i blacked out for many secs...i begged him to please remove it from my face and if truly he was who he claimed he was that he should summit the pistol to the mopol man in front...we alerted the driver and the mopol man of the situations on ground and we had to drive back again to the checkpoint to return the driver and the pistol.
Finally we entered PH around 12am...i was trekking on the streets with my two hand up in surrender form as I trekked the rest of the journey home alone. I could hear a pin drop as I did. Ooooh men! It would be as if it's your last day on earth |

gentlegenius: You started it all by saying that I don't know anything. I only made a candid observation to your comment, and I believe you usually do same to others but just because I questioned your inclusion of Seu'n and the ranking of your moniker at #3, you replied me so harshly as if we were quarreling. If you always want people to promote you the way you promote yourself, then you should learn to respect people and not try to bring them down in a public forum like this. Even if it seems to you that I don't know anything, must you say it here publicly and still expect me to respect you? Where is your sense of cordiality and Diplomacy? Anyway, Diplomacy is an expensive commodity so I don't expect it from ordinary people. You disappoint me so much today. As a matter of fact, I used to view you as a very sensible person here and you are one person on Nairaland I used to respect so much and even follow. But right now, you've lost all my respect due to your pride and oversensitivity. Though I won't insult you no matter how far you push me. Not because I don't know how to insult people like you, but simply because I am not as stupid as you think I am. I usually ignore proud people like you on Nairaland, but it was very necessary to tell you the truth that others might probably be afraid to tell you. That's why I spent my valuable time to write all these. I won't have time to waste with you again. So if you are very idle as usual, you can continue to insult me here. I won't care. It will only expose further how oversensitive you are.
In case you are ready to learn anything from what has happened, pls ponder on this: ... Being so idle to always stay online in a forum and jump on every thread you see doesn't make one popular. ... Those who are really popular don't announce themselves, they wait for others to announce them.
SHALOM! Listen up! Nobody is trying to brag about being popular or not, so stop being pessimistic because I had my name there
You just can't rate people's popularity based on the comments they make and I know you to know that only romance section does not make up Nairaland
As for being popular, this is how I made my rank
Both new users and ghost readers know that Lalasticlalaa is the most mentioned Nairalander. You will always see people calling him to push their topics to the front page no matter how silly they are, which makes him more popular than anyone else.
Se'un was the most popular Nairalander before Lalasticlalaa outranked him. He is the owner of Nairaland and he doesn't need to create threads or blow trumpet before you know he's the founder of this forum
As for Tosyne2much , he is a versatile writer laced with humor. He writes virtually anything that comes to his mind and I think his creativity, consistency and traffic driving threads have all earned him his popularity. He has proven to be one of the best traffic drivers we have on this forum. You could search for his moniker on Google to see how viral his controversial topics have gone.
As for Mrcor'k, he's the most consistent troll we've ever had in the history of Nairaland. Do you that it's not easy for someone to maintain the status quo of a troll for more than six years? But Mrcor'k has found it easy . His blue font always makes it very easy to decipher his comments from that of other. He is very popular in other sections too
Myn'd44 is a popular moderator, but people prefer to mention Lalasticlala to push their topics to the front page. Though, he a supermod but was just like every other member until he started operation "no nonsense" on defaulters. Many people are afraid of him because he wouldn't hesitate to place them on long term ban at the slightest provocation. At the mention of Myn'd44, defaulters usually behave well
As for Explorers, the pace at which his name is going viral on the forum is very surprising, and that is borne out of his research work. Explorers is undoubtedly one of the best researchers we currently have on the forum and his easy access to the front page has earned him recognition.
As for Airforce1, he is one of the most abused Nairalanders and his popularity is not limited to the romance section alone. He is the most popular Nairaland artist . You can call him an attention seeker, but trust me, members of other sections are very familiar with him. There are times that the mods deliberately push some of his attention seeking topics to the front page which usually generate huge traffic. Do you know that Airforce1 once created an attention seeking thread sometime this year which made up to 130, 000 views? "

I even forgot to mention Toks'2008. He is a romance writer, a controversial one at that. He is one of the most criticized writers on Nairaland. His topics can easily be predicted by mere caption and he is very popular.
TonyeBa'rcanista. He was formerly using a moniker before he deactivated and resurrected with the one mentioned above. He is also a controversial politics writer and he is one of the most popular members of the politics section.
As a very good observer, my ranking is based on my own observation and it can be open to criticism.
I have nothing against you bro. I didn't just like the way you attacked me initially. If my reply was harsh and got to the other part of you, I'm SORRY |

gentlegenius: Actually, seun, the owner of Nairaland is a popular person. But you said your list was based on how frequent you see their monikers on sections of Nairaland. That was why I said that Seu'n moniker is not frequently seen on sections and threads, therefore he shouldn't be in your list. So, I said that because of what your list was based on. But for you to challenge me and tell me that your list is near perfect, I will tell you again that apart from Seu'n being there, your list is still flawed and imperfect. Since you think I don't know anything about Nairaland, many others who knows Nairaland will soon come here and tell you that your list is highly flawed. By putting your moniker at #3 your are trying to tell us that you are the most popular person on Nairaland after Lalasticlala and seun. So you are more popular than everyone below you and even a mod like mynd44? Pls spare us this self eulogy. Stop defending your list that it is near perfect and discard the idea that other people knows nothing about Nairaland except you. Go and sit down young man if you don't have anything sensible to say because I can see that you're taking this thing so far. Only a silly person will take an inconsequential thread like this so personal
I made my ranking and I can't remember pointing a gun at you to agree with it. On a normal day, I always avoid threads like this, but I just felt I should make a slight modification to the OP's ranking, so I don't know why you're giving yourself unnecessary headaches on this matter oooo |

UBGG: I could tell you 10 ways to stop being a simpleton but your simple-mind wouldn't grasp it.
Here's one you might understand, go ask your mum why she got married at 20. Whether you intend to marry at 50 years or you intend to remain a prostitute all your life, it's none of my business.
I'm entitled to my opinion and I can't remember pointing a gun at you to subscribe to it. It's not a must that you nod your head in affirmation to my opinion because what makes us different as human beings is diversity in reasoning, but only a silly person like you wants everybody to reason exactly the way she does.
You just came from nowhere and quoted me and I believe you are happy you had my little attention this afternoon
This is the last reply you will ever get from me. |
