Na today? Pls sing me another chorus!
While I believe strongly in God's miracles, I still doubt this story because everything from the Gwagwalada part to the Portharcourt part strongly indicates Baby factories at work!
You did scan upon scan and yet the baby did not show. Only the traditional practitioners see the baby, but scan cannot see it. Really?
And then, you gave birth to a baby that has stayed 2 years in the womb without feeling any labour pains. Really? Unto wetin?
In fact, this woman should be arrested so that she would lead security agents to arrest all these women that are "helping her". Help my foot!
EducationRe: Kwara Poly Student Protest Over Killing Of Colleague by touchmehard: 4:35pm On May 28, 2013
In as much as I condemn what the policeman did, I can't help but wonder why some people are here on Nairaland calling on Ombatse people to help the Kwara Poly students to retaliate on the Police.
Are you people this heartless?
Just few weeks after the Ombatse incident which left over a hundred families mourning, some people are here calling for more killings of Police officers.
Can't you guys see that the wounds are still fresh in the hearts of those affected?
Have you guys asked what led to the incident between the student and the police? Has anyone tried to find out what the student did first?
It's not as if I'm in support of the Policeman that shot at the student, but for someone to call on ombatse cultists to attack the Police is very much uncalled for. Afterall, the Police did not revenge on ombatse for killing their officers. Pls we should learn to stop fueling violence in the country.

Why is he complaining? Does he want to tell us that his state doesn't have means of generating internal revenue, such as taxes and fines? If he doesn't have, let him better consult Gov Fashola for tutoring. Besides, what has he been doing with the Federal allocations that he had since been collecting? The time for accountability is now!

This is the level at which Nigerian politics has reached. The governor wants to retain power come 2015 by all means, now look at the result. These officers have merely been sacrificed on the alter of politics. And yet 2015 is still far away, so why the hustle and tussle?

Most importantly, youths need to desist from being recruited into political thuggery, it doesn't pay at all. The politicians only turn you into a criminal after they must have used you to achieve victory at the polls. When youths start refusing to take part in political thuggery, these politicians would be left with no option than to do things the right way.

But next time, El- Rufai should please verify the veracity of whatever information he wants to present to the public because the degree of condemnations this book is receiving makes me doubt it's credibility.

PoliticsNigerians Are Too Difficult To Please – Fashola by touchmehard(op): 4:45pm On May 07, 2013
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has described Nigerians as very difficult people to please just as he says insecurity remains the greatest challenge confronting the nation.
Fashola spoke on Monday at the St Saviour’s Anglican Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, Marina, Lagos, southwest Nigeria during the church’s 32nd Synod.
He lamented that people complained too much instead of helping the government to solve the problems at hand.
“Nigerians are very difficult people to please. When Nigerians were complaining of incessant harassment by policemen at checkpoints, they were dismantled by the Inspector General of Police. The same Nigerians are now complaining that the absence of the checkpoints have aided the free operation of criminals on the roads.
“The same scenario is playing out on the issue of ban by the police of the indiscriminate use of tinted glasses by motorist, which has been taken advantage of by criminals. The people are now accusing the police of being highhanded on the issue,” he said.

Fashola added that insecurity in the nation is becoming a huge mountain to climb, adding that “our greatest challenge today is insecurity. Just a few minutes ago, there were reports of people who have been killed in Taraba State and over the weekend some people died in Bayelsa State.
“In the last week, the number of lives that have been lost to violence and insecurity must bring any serious people into a sense of sobriety and a very serious question about what direction our country is heading,” the Governor said.
He urged the people not to engage in the wholesale condemnation of the security agencies in the light of what is going on in the country, stressing that the issues of whether they had been given the tools needed for their job and whether the society really cared for them should agitate the minds of the people.
“How many of us on Christmas or Ileya festivals have remembered the police station near us by giving the officers a cooler of rice? It may not fill them but such gesture would remain evergreen for them. It will give them commitment to go and protect us.
“Let us show some concern. Let us find our humanity back. We are too detached from the reality of our society. A lot of care and love would bring down the anger and hate that is seeping through our land. It should not be the survival of the fittest anymore but the survival of the greatest majority. It should be a case of everyone pulling up the next person so that we can march forward together as a people who truly fear God,” he stated.

He also urged the people to resist the urge to hold a telephone line that is not registered in their name and charged the phone companies to help the government by not issuing SIM cards without identity and background checks, saying the possibility of some people owning as many as ten telephone lines without any being registered in their names portends grave dangers.

The governor emphasized that Nigerians must love their country and treat it as a home and cited the example of the major breakthrough recorded by Nigerian Police Force recently at Badiya in Lagos which prevented a major crime from being committed, adding that instead of commendations, the general outcry was that Lagos was under a siege.
He said when a similar scenario played out in Boston in the United States, the crime could not be nipped in the bud but took place and that if the two scenarios were placed side by side and given the resources and equipment at the disposal of the Nigeria Police compared to its Boston counterpart, he would cast his lot behind the Nigerian Police for a job well done.

How would you expect him to score A's allthrough when elements like you would not contribute positively to his governance and support him to deliver?
How would you expect him to combat the boko haram insurgency when northern elders support them and fund them from behind? Look at the ransom paid for Ali Monguno's purported release from "kidnap", is that not a financial support from the backyard?

PoliticsSwitzerland Offers To Assist Nigeria Tackle Insecurity by touchmehard(op): 4:03pm On May 07, 2013
The Ambassador of Switzerland to Nigeria, Hodel Hans-Rudolf has announced that help will be rendered to the country to battle the issues of insecurity, if requested.

The ambassador disclosed this at the closing ceremony of the capacity building in agricultural education in Nigeria training workshop held at the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) in Ilorin.

Hans-Rudolf stated that Switzerland is ready to assist Nigeria in tackling the problem of insecurity as soon as such a request is made.

The emissary commented on the issue of security in the country adding that he has been making observations in the past 8-months of his stay in the country.

He urged the federal government to brace up to nip the crisis in the bud.

He also said that the Nigerian government has relied on its mineral resources, especially crude oil and advised that the ‘over-reliance’ should cease.

He appealed for a shift to agriculture which he believed would create jobs and reduce poverty in the long run.

rezzy: I rememberd crossing one express road like that on saturday. I dont know the name of the road but i know i came out from Magodo GRA phase II gate and cross over to Ikeja (Alausa). The road is deadly, it surely needs a pedestrain bridge.
If they construct a pedestrian bridge there, will you use it? Somebody is here observing that people stubbornly refuse to use available pedestrian bridges, and here you are asking for more. undecided
Car TalkRe: Death-Traps Along Abuja Airport Road (photos) by touchmehard: 2:38pm On May 07, 2013
This trend is sheer disregard for one's life. As for me, i'ld rather walk some meters to use a pedestrian bridge than rush across a busy road. What if I don't get to d other side of the road at last, but rather wake up in a hospital? God forbid bad thing. It pays to do things the right way because short-cuts do not pay and are always risky.
Just as it is done in Lagos Sate, I'll recommend that the men on uniform on Airport road, Abuja and in other places should be empowered to arrest pedestrians crossing the roads, when there are pedestrian bridges.

gboss4sure: My beatiful biafra, the land of my birth. I can't wait for Nigeria to breakup. Imagine this northern goat talking nonsense
Nigeria is not breaking up, okay. We all need each other and it wouldn't pay any of the tribes if the country breaks up. Meanwhile, America that predicted that Nigeria would break up in 2015, if they so much believed in that prediction of theirs, then why are they re-building their embassy in Nigeria? Why are they making their embassy here in Nigeria better? What is their point then? I guess they are seeing the futility of their prediction.
Come 2015, the elections would come and go, and Nigeria will remain the same. My only advice to everyone is that no one should allow him/herself to be used for election violence. The politicians would be in their bullet proof-cars and houses, while it is the masses fighting for them that would get killed. Who is losing then?
PoliticsRe: 2015: It’s Either A Northerner Or No More Nigeria - Farouk Adamu Aliyu by touchmehard: 1:55pm On May 07, 2013
All this war of words over 2015 presidency should not really be our priority now, seriously. Whether the president is a northerner or southerner, does it really matter? What should matter to us is good governance and accountability in office. All this do or die politics is actually pissing me off. Niger delta is promising fire and brimestone while the north is threatening break-up. These things are actually not necessary. The earlier we start seeing ourselves as one the better for us. Ethnic sentiments only brew hatred and war and should be done away with.

Secondly, I do not think Asari Dokubo is speaking for President Jonathan. Jonathan cannot allow that to happen. Asariis just on his own, probably seeking to warm his way into Jonathan's heart by making it look as if he sooooo much likes Jonathan. I believe President Jonathan has nothing to do with Asari Dokubo's talk.

I guess the Nigerian anthem was sang first because Goodluck is the President of Nigeria; while in the case of Bill Clinton, he didn't visit Ogun state as the American president, he visited as an American citizen, because he's no longer the President.

Meanwhile, I think the usual practices to sing the National anthem of the guest.
PoliticsJonathan`s Visit To Borno, Yobe Not For “Showmanship’’ – PDP by touchmehard(op): 2:47pm On Mar 11, 2013
Jonathan`s visit to Borno, Yobe not for “Showmanship’’ – PDP

Abuja -  The PDP said on Sunday in Abuja that President Goodluck Jonathan`s recent visit to Borno and Yobe was to ensure genuine peace and development in the two states.

This is contained in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh.

He said that the president`s visit to the states was not for “showmanship’’ but to ensure development of the economy of Northern states affected by insurgencies.

Metuh said that the condition given by Jonathan for the withdrawal of the Military Joint Task Force (JTF) from Borno was for the safety of the people.

He said the decision of the president to visit the two states showed his forthrightness and concern for the safety of Nigerians living in Borno and other troubled spots in the country.

Jonathan had prevailed on Borno elders to write an undertaking to take responsibility for further killings and destruction by the Boko Haram sect, if the JTF must be withdrawn from the state.

The president tabled the demand before Borno elders while he was on a visit to the state recently.

Metuh said that the president`s demand was a direct challenge to everyone, especially those from the troubled areas to rise to the challenge.

He said that the PDP understood and deeply shares in the worries of the Borno elders over the protracted insurgency in the region.

According to him, the party also appreciates the grave implications of the insurgency on the social and economic activities of some states in the North.

Metuh said that the PDP was in support of the condition given by the president for the withdrawal of JTF from Borno.

“The PDP fully aligns with the challenge of President Goodluck Jonathan to the Borno elders on their responsibility vis-a-vis the withdrawal of the military Joint Task Force.

“However, we deem it necessary that the elders accept this challenge and reflect in-depth on their pre-eminent position as cardinal portal of peace as connoted in the assertion by the president,” Metuh said.

He commended Jonathan for his discussion with the elders of Borno and Yobe and for sparing time to visit some orphanages, stressing that this was also an indication that the president had concern for vulnerable Nigerians.

The spokesman also commended the president for his humane approach and unrelenting commitment to the improved welfare of Nigerians and his approach in handling the situations.

Metuh expressed optimism that efforts of the Jonathan-led administration to address the country`s security challenges would succeed, following successes already recorded by the security agencies.
He appealed to those behind the violent attacks in the country to have a rethink , adding that “life is sacrosanct and nobody has the right to shed innocent blood under any guise”. (NAN)

Don't mind the All Progressives Congress. The time they should have used to tidy up the paper work and get registered as a party, they were busy making noise and arguing over mere party logo, etc. Now they may be left with the option of changing their name. Eehyaaa.

Whether PDP has a hand in the registration of the other APC or not, the fact is that Buhari's APC got their priorities wrong. I don't even think they are actually serious with this their merger, looking at the way the merging parties were still releasing press statements and responding to matters in the name of their individual parties, when they had claimed to have merged into APC, especially that Lai Mohammed of a man, always responding to and releasing press statements over every issue in the country.
PoliticsPresident Jonathan Is Not Buhari's Enemy - CPC by touchmehard(op): 2:22pm On Mar 11, 2013
ABUJA-AS the country prepares to celebrate its existence of 100 years in 2014, after amalgamation in 1914, the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, said former head of State and presidential candidate of the party, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) scarified his life for the unity of the country.

The party said this to clear the insinuation of some Nigerians about the presence of Buhari at the recent flag-off of the centenary celebration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja along with other former heads of state.

Buhari was seen holding hands with President Goodluck Jonathan when both of them were on their way to lit the historic centenary torch to kick-off events lined up for the celebration.

Nigerians saw the presence of Buhari as unusual at the presidential villa among other former rulers of the country, and also to participate in such an event led by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) government because Buhari since PDP occupied the presidential villa in 1999 to date has never been in attendance of the council of state meeting where follow former heads of state address national issues.

His party, CPC, has come out to clear the insinuations of Nigerians about the presence of Buhari at the flag –H of the centenary celebration events as the country clocks 100 years in 2014 as a nation-state.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Engr Rotimi Fashakin told Vanguard that Buhari has been  a true patriot who had  laid down his life for the unity of the country turning the Nigerian civil war in 1967-1970, his doggedness in the fight against corruption during his stay in power as the head of state and fight against Chadian  invasion, of some Nigerian villages in Northern and  occupation Nigeria.

Fashakin said: “Gen Muhammadu is not the typical politician that believes in making enemies totally; he has never said President Jonathan is his enemy, they only contested a position together in 2011 election and that is all. Anything that concerns Nigeria, you will find Gen Buhari there.

You talk about a quintessential patriot that is Gen Muhammadu Buhari for you. He has fought a civil war to keep this nation together, meaning that he risked his life in keeping the Nigerian state together.

“When he was General officer commanding the Chadians invaded 19 Nigerians villages and occupied them. Gen Buhari and in word aside another General saluted and showered encomium sought and got permission and drove away this Chadians, and not only driving them away, he drove them 5o km into Chadian territory.

He has also held juicy appointments in Nigeria to help, and when he declared in2011 he said that he never took one kobo belonging to the Nigerian nation for himself. Since he made that statement nobody has been able to controvert him.

“So when Nigerian is celebrating centenary anniversary, despite all the tempest by irresponsible leaders that have held sway of this nation and a civil war of 42 months ethno-religious sentiment by some political leaders, that union still remain intact, why should Gen Buhari not be there to celebrate that 100 years.

He said the party is not bothered by the views by critics about Buhari presence at the centenary occasion, “We as a party and our leader, Gen Buhari do not give a hoot. What Gen Buhari is concerned about is Nigeria being celebrated, and has to be there.

Gen Buhari ruled the country for 20 months meritoriously, also he was a former head of state and a member of the councils of state, and he is a state man.

“He is not just a leader of our party but naturally he will be invited to take part in such function, and is not an indication of aligning with PDP, but showed up there because Nigeria was involved, and he cannot withdraw his participation from where Nigeria is celebrated,” Fashakin stated.

In the past, persons with useful, credible and timely information gave such to the Police and they were helpful in tracking the assailants. What to do? Please, inform the Police but if you are sceptical and think you may be a victim of what people say that you may be exposed, personally meet the State Commissioner of Police and inform him
Thank God you said "in the past". What do we have nowadays? A case whereby someone with valuable information and investigation clues will go to give the Police the information, the next thing is for the person to be detained as the "prime suspect".
Nobody now wants to help the Police with information during their so-called investigations, for fear of being branded a criminal.
The truth is that the Police are just too lazy when it comes to conducting detailed investigations. They would rather collect bribe, do a shabby job and the matter remains unresolved.
Well, if the Police needs the assistance of we civilians, they have to first of all rebrand themselves and restore back our confidence in them. Then we would consider them.

*Nice write-up Iyaniwura.
Another interesting thing about IBB is that he likes calling his acquaintances, aides, admirers, etc by their second names or unofficial names (i.e. the name your mother calls you at home). For example, of your name is Mr. John Ikechi Okafor, and you use "John" in the office and "Ikechi" at home, IBB would prefer to be calling you Ikechi. He would even go to the extent of forming a pet-name or nickname from the "Ikechi" and start calling you "IK" or "Ike-boy".

He uses this to create fondness and make you feel at home with him.
