ollah2:The USA is a bigger world superpower than China. You and I know that. |
ollah2:You are right. But don't you think you should rather go for conservative damage? If the Chinese government do the same, do you try to weigh the pros and cons of it? |
VillagePipu:That is the point bro. BTW, where else would you want them to go? Or you expect them to just sit down idle after being sacked? They have no loyalty obligations to Huawei. They should definitely look for a better appointments. Nevertheless, Huawei has sent its intended message to the POTUS that they are not some dumb tiny company that will bow for him or his decision. This is what the world needs to reduce the power of the superpowers. Let the world know that you refused to be intimidated by them. So, it's not actual about how strong the challenge is. And the good thing is the European countries will gladly be rooting for Huawei. And if possible, they will accept the company with open arms I salute the courage of the company and I solemnly hope many will borrow from theirs. |
udemzyudex:You didn't need to start your opinion like this. Like you understand, everyone is entitled to what he chooses to understand. udemzyudex:Well, you are going too far here bro. Mind you, Huawei is not owned by Chinese government. Huawei is the company that is having issues with the US and not the Chinese government. And do I need to tell you that there other Chinese in the US working and making a living there? If the Chinese government publicly interfere and start sanctioning just because of one company, don't you think it will severe the relationship between the two countries and it can be the start of WWlll So, that's why I am enjoying how the company is seemed to be single-handedly taking on the US head on. Contrary opinion would be appreciated tho. |
Huawei responded or should I say is responding well in the fight. The US and the POTUS think they cannot be challenged in whatever decision they take on other countries. And if Huawei could do that, others too will learn from them and before the US will see itself as the world superpower, they will think twice. I hate bullies either from people or countries. |
What kind of coach will bench the best player when needed the most? Racist coach. Just because she's black and she's not them. They didn't start her. I'm so happy they paid heavily for the racist decision and she was vindicated too with her goal. You hardly see her sef in any of their twitter pictures. Oshoala is a beast speedster that would have single-handedly win that match. |
I was actually expecting to see Courtney Dike in this list too. Well I hope this decision of the coach is vindicated in France come June. |
RTSC:Really, even what is said is not true. This your bigot statement confirms it. You are all the same. Weyrey |
The most amazing historical aspect not known to many of us. Thank you op. May Rashidi Yekini rest in peace. He did a lot for eagles and he would be one of the most deserved wearers of the green and white Jersey. |

Few months ago, I was approached by a friend of mine who is a good follower and admirer of my 'imperfect' writes and told me that he would be expecting me to write something about the forthcoming general elections. This among other reasons, is why I see the need to write this piece. Let me begin by saying this piece will feature some of the quotes of some important political personalities in the country and to the country. This does not have anything to do with political preference or inclination whatsoever. I chose them because they're aptly related to what I want to write as they also emphasise the importance of peaceful conduct of the elections. The first quote emphasises the need to shun violence in the name of a politician. This is the quote of the former President Goidluck Ebele Jonathan who once said and I quote " My ambition does not worth the blood of any Nigerian." As well-meaning citizens of the giants of Africa, we should try to dissociate ourselves from political violence whatsoever. You shouldn't prepare to die for someone else's ambition because it's a waste of opportunity of life. We should also always remember that there is no way meaningful development and growth of health and wealth could be attained in a rancour environment. Secretary-general of the Commonwealth also said during the second signing of the peace accord by all presidential candidates who are over seventy in the forthcoming general elections that electorates are watching, people are watching, Africa is watching and in the end the world is watching. Everything that happens today will become history tomorrow. It's now our individual decision and action during the electoral processes that will determine what part of the history we will belong. In 2015, history was made during general elections and people are a parts of the history. Some are remembered for the good things they did then now and some are remembered otherwise. This is why one has to be extremely careful in choosing his electoral history because in the Game of Thrones, they say "The north remembers" but in this election, not just the north but the world remembers. Electoral empire of the country who organises, oversees and announces results of the polls assures and reassures Nigerians that having being equipped with all the necessary resources, they are are committed to delivering the freest and fairest elections as every single vote of all voters will count. INEC officials have been briefed to desist from politics and any form of favouritism that may directly or indirectly influence their actions and in the end question the credibility of the election. INEC is still a neutral organ in the country and that alone gives us the assurance that this election will only produce choices of the masses. One of the presidential candidate who happens to be the strongest opposition to the sitting President in one of his post-campaign and pre-election speeches, he said and I quote, "I would like you all to come out en mass to cast your votes. Even if you will not vote for me, just come out and vote." This message is a clarion call to all electorates in the country to do their parts which is to exercise their franchise to as to select the leaders of their choice. Most electorates always believe this myth that their votes are not what count and that the whole INEC of a thing is just to make their trick look real. This I must say is completely untrue, baseless, poisonous and should be detached from our minds. As a matter of fact, this is one of the problems of bad leadership because someone once said that bad leaders are elected by good citizens who refused to cast their votes. On this note, electorates, I mean people who are eligible to vote and have their permanent voter's cards should not keep their fingers crossed and distance themselves from election instead they should go and vote. According to the statistics of registered voters released by INEC, 51 percent of the electorates which represents over 42 million are actually youths between the ages of 18 and 35. Imagine the difference that will make in deciding our leaders. Now, on a final note, which is the most important is the answer to question of whom to vote for? Some people will ask me who should I vote for, tell us who to vote for and somehow. Well, let me use the quote of the president of the federation, President Muhammadu Buhari when he was giving his short speech during the second signing of the peace accord in Abuja on the 13th of February, 3 days to the election. He said and I quote, "On 16th of February we are all going to vote for parties but we should have it in mind that, there is only one real party which is the country, Nigeria" That's indeed, a very creative answer to questions on who to vote for. I want to advise all Nigerians to vote for what will remain forever. Buhari will go, APC will go, Atiku will go, PDP will go, everybody you want to vote for will go but the nation will still remain. This is why you should only vote for Nigeria and to vote for Nigeria means you should vote for who has plans for the future the country. The love of Nigeria not the love of a politician should be in the minds of all Nigerians whenever you want to vote as they will guide you in choosing the best candidates and not your preferred candidates. Remember that the country is bigger than any candidate of your choice. Remember that whatever you do during the election will be talked about tomorrow and forever. Remember that votes not violence win elections. Remember that you are not just casting your vote, you are deciding what the future of your beloved country will be. Remember that Nigeria is bigger than your ambition and so you shouldn't be desperate. And lastly remember the second stanza of the Nigeria anthem by praying for peace and prosperity in Nigeria. As an advocate of peace and good governance in the country, I want to implore all and sundry to ensure a violence free election and always have it in mind that before we engage in violence or any electoral malpractice where we are today is the result of our fathers and the fathers of our fathers and whatever we do now determines the fate of our children and the children of our children. God bless Nigeria and Nigerians. Amin. Written by: Abdulkareem Abdulmumeen Omotosho Popular as Moomeen Tourshaw talktouniquewriter@gmail.com +2348166626562 |

As a student in the university, you will of course be interested in these facts about the recent election in your school and be glad to be a part of the history. 1. Highest Presidential Aspirants Ever In the history of the school’s SU election, the just concluded election recorded the highest presidential candidates. Eight presidential aspirants contested for the leadership of the students affairs this year. That was something that has never happened before and it’s an indication that the youths in the country are ready to rise to the challenge of the ‘Not too young to run’ bill, the passage of which has made many youths to be interested in politics and leadership. graciousolo:Are you still available? My final year project is actually sitting comfortably on my neck now. And you? |
It is looking like the application for change of course/institution is not yet available o. When I tried to use it, it didn't bring 2018. The latest there is still 2017. Am I the only one seeing this? Or is there another method one can change it? |
Wow... This competition is still on? That's good. I'm sure it's getting better and better than previous editions. It was actually fun being a part of the Unilorin team that were the first runners up in the 3rd edition of the fiasco. I don't know if there's an opportunity to participate this year anyway. Lately, football has been very interesting and exciting. There have been a plethora of fascinating lessons of life from football which everyone and anyone can actually reflect. Here, I bring to you 10 lessons learnt from the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League. 1. Manolas & De Rossi These two Roma players were the ones that scored the two own goals against the Catalans in the first leg of the finals. Everyone was displeased with these two for their errors. However, in the second leg, each of them scored a decisive goal that was enough to send Barça packing from Champions League. Lesson : Don't be quick to blame anybody in life. Don't feel offended by how people treat. This is because he who makes you angry today can make you happy tomorrow. 2. Liverpool vs Manchester City Liverpool eliminated and humiliated the premier league's table topper with class. This feat they couldn't accomplished in the league even. Lesson : Don't feel intimidated by the mighty of your problem. Face it head on with determination and a single goal- to win. This way, your boldness will scare your problem and it will be easily conquered. 3. AS Roma vs Barca Football lovers all over the world, especially Barcelona fans would have been heavily shocked with the final outcome of this match. Who would had a thought that Roma would maul and qualify against Barça. I have never been born the last term Roma even reached Semis. Lesson : Football is a game of two halves the same way life is. Put the greatness of your enemy behind you and you will see an ordinary enemy that is easily domitable. 4. Roma's chairman When the final whistle was blown in the second league which meant Roma qualified, the man jubilated in the released video to the extent of getting a fine. Although, he agreed to pay the fine even more with excitement. Lesson : When you are happy, don't hide it. Let the world knows you really are. Showing your happiness weakens the strength of your enemy. 5. Sevilla's elimination Sevilla suffered a 1-2 defeat from the first leg in Spain and they couldn't still register a goal even despite their tough fight and struggles in the return match which ended a goalless draw. Lesson: Life is not all about winning the same way football is not. It's not disappointment to lose, it's just the way it used to be sometimes. 6. Juventus's fans and Ronaldo When Christiano Ronaldo scored the second goal in the first leg with overhead kick against Juventus, the camera was directed to Juve fans who were seen clapping in a standing ovation for their opponent in what means "No! You're the best. You deserve it". Ronaldo, seen this, didn't jubilate again and instead, put his hand on his chest and bent his head a little, a sign that means "Thank you". Exciting! Isn't it Lesson : Strive to be successful to the extent that those that used to condemn you won't have a choice than to commend you. And always learn to give unto others what they give unto you- reciprocate the good. 7. Barcelona and Manchester City Man City: +£354m eliminated Barcelona: +£171m eliminated Roma: -£33m qualified Liverpool: -£38m qualified Lesson: Just because you attend a public school doesn't mean you can't be better than someone that attends a private school. It's not always about money, it's about your value. 8. Buffon's red card Being a captain in football simply means you must command the level of respect in all situations on pitch and off-pitch. Buffon was red carded as he didn't show manners when complaining to the referee. Lesson: I go here by one of my University lecturers' saying... "Don't ever pick up a fight with an authority because you will never win." And always apply sense of humility and diplomacy in the presence of elders. 9. Lucas Vasquez's Penalty Benatia in the post-match conference admitted that he pushed Lucas a little but he wasn't expecting him to fall. This mistake cost Juventus as Cristiano Ronaldo converted the spot kick that heaved the sigh of relief in their fans. Lesson: Don't be like Benatia who lived in a glass house and was still throwing stone. Avoid taking decisions that can injure you or people around you. 10. Real Madrid! It took Madrid injury time before they could score the decisive goal that ensures their qualification. Lesson : Always fight till the end because it's the end that matters. Don't ever think of giving up. Always stay focus in your dream and know that it is the end that justifies the means. Juve lacked this lesson. Copied from: seetopten.com

KWASU students saying the school is better than Unilorin with these comments is a clear indication of the wrong configuration of their mentality. The only thing the students brags is the speed. Lol.... KWASU is not even close to Unilorin in anything. |
erenax:Yes, for more than 15 years now, the University has been on an uninterrupted academic calendar. |
Barely some days ago, an article surfaced online, particularly on Nairaland about the prolonged semester which the writer termed as incompetence and an act of negligence on the part of the school administration. When I read the article, I was completely disappointed because the writer was sheerly inconclusive in his judgement and raised issues that are even not associated with the topic of his discussion. The article, I expected should criticize the university management constructively and reveal the foul plays he felt were the reasons for this unusual prolong of a semester in the university. The article sounds really weird to the extent one would say the writer is only a saboteur who is not pleased with the smooth running of the calendar in the school or just an embryo blogger who is hungry of traffic. Yes! I am a student in the university but I refused to be blindfolded by the inconclusive conclusions in the article. And after thorough research, I found 10 things which I think are strongly connected to the unusual holdup in the semester. 1. 7-month: the current semester which is the first semester is now unusually seven month old from September. The semester is normally supposed to have ended late January and or early February. 2. Change of leadership: The University just changed its leadership and the new vice chancellor, Prof Suleiman Abdulkareem Age was inaugurated on October 15, 2017. Of course, having a new leader may bring about introduction of new things into the systems during transition. This can also be associated with the delay in the semester activities. 3. School calendar design: in all its versions and revisions, the university usually designs an academic calendar for a current and a subsequent session. This implies that if for instances, as we are in 2017/2018 session now, the academic calendar for the session is the concluding of the previous session, the full activities of the current session and the beginning of the next session. This is to tell you that the university really has a distinct academic plan. 4. Admission delay: Unlike what happens where institutions are the ones that give admission to students; this is not the case again. JAMB now does that through their CAPS, Central Admission Processing Scheme. The admission was delayed to the extent that till January the university is still admitting new students through JAMB. Now, should the school now disregard the new students and take to its academic calendar? No! They put the new students and injured their calendar causing the extension of the calendar. 5. School fees extension: another thing that really led to this prolonged semester is also the leniency on the part of the students. Every time on class pages, the students union under the leadership of Mr Adebisi Ridwan always begged the university to extend the deadline times without number. Deadlines upon deadlines and extensions upon extensions to the extent that the payment which was supposed to end in December ended in February just because the school wanted to be lenient to the students. How was that the fault of the university? 6. Examination date extension: When the examination timetables for different faculties were released, the uproar of students about the inconveniences of students about them reached the school management through the union again. And because the school has an authority that listens and considers its students, it shifted it a little to make it convenient for students. 7. NASU strike: the non academic staff union of the university commenced an indefinite industrial action since 4th December 2018 and it just ended a week or two ago. During the period of the strike action, the academic staffs of the school were saddled with hectic responsibilities in order to cover up the absence of the non academic staff. This was also one of the reasons for the injured calendar. 8. JAMB exam: The provisional timetable of 100L and 200L students for exam would have started immediately but it had to be postponed because of JAMB exam that was scheduled to hold in the school. This also contributed to the injuries of the timetable. 9. Skill acquisition: This course which is usually offered in 300L first semester was redefined to be more practical oriented by asking the students to go for various training outside of their various courses of study. The vocational training was time-consuming and that was why the date its exam was also extended. 10. Miscellaneous: There are a good number of reasonable situations and scenarios that can actually lead to this type of problem even apart from the aforementioned ones. Having read this, you will agree that there is no way all these will happen to an institution in a single semester and it won’t affect its calendar. The truth of the matter is there is no way you will stay outside and judge the inside fairly. If you don’t know a thing about something, it is better not to write anything about it. Unilorin still maintains the uninterrupted calendar it is always known for. Source: http://www.seetopten.com/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-the-prolonged-first-semester-in-unilorin/

*JAMB CUTOFF FOR 2017: MY OPINION* The registrar of the JAMB Professor Isiaq Oloyede has on 22nd of August, declared *120* as benchmark for admission into universities for this year and *100* for other higher institutions of learning like polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education and others. This move by JAMB has been generating mixed reactions in the midst of Nigerians. While some see this decision as inimical to the growth of education in the country, others opine that it's a giant stride and laudable development. This is actually expected as you don't expect everyone to have linear perspective of reasoning. If someone asked me what I see about this abrupt reduction in the cutoff, I wouldn't blindly conclude that it's nonsense. However, let's critically examine the rational in the decision together to see whether to go for the former or the latter. Firstly, everyone in life always looks for a second chance. Second chance is very important to anyone that messes up on the first instance. You cannot be so sure that those who didn't perform well are dullards. There are a good number of reasons why students fail. A brilliant student maybe psychological troubled during the exam and fail. The reason for some maybe financial incapacitating. Some fail because of lack good orientation of the exam. This and many like that. So, if this is the case, pegging cutoff to 120 will imply giving people like that a second chance from post utme. Ok. What if we look at the institutions side of the story? You will see that it makes economic sense to them. Thanks to reinstatement of post UTME. Schools will now have the chance of generating income, more income. This decision will attract crowd to all the schools. I have a friend who scored 140. People like him can now also try their luck and add to the purse of their preferred schools. No doubt, schools will accept this decision with open arms. Afterall, this decision doesn't ask anyone school to bite more than what it can chew. You know why I'm in love with this decision? It involves two parties -the students and the schools and it favours both parties which is always rare. More students will participate in the admission exercise and more money will be generated by the schools. So, kudos to JAMB for the fairness of this decision. FREE JAMB FORM IN KWARA: AN UNHELPFUL HELP AND POLITICAL SCAM Before I begin this piece, I want to say that I didn't write this to castigate, hate, oppose, void or destroy anyone's political or social ambition. I have nothing against anybody and this article has no political affiliations whatsoever. This is just my own neutral but honest opinions of the matter. So, I am responsible for what I write as much as you're also responsible for what you understand. I used to acknowledge that any favour to the masses that is politically motivated or rooted will always remain a misfortune in disguise. Politics, in this part of the world, is like a witch that gives you a hen and expects you to say thank you with a cow. Barely a week or two ago, I heard of one Soliu Mustapha giving scholarship of free JAMB to Kwarans. Hearing this and thinking there is no string attached, I began to praise the man for his philanthropy and admitted it as a laudible development. Even though, I was not affected directly or indirectly by his kindness but I belong to the class of people that appreciate philanthropy. So, I paid a courtesy visit to one of the centres in my vicinity where the screening exercise was being conducted and the huge number of students was beyond my imagination. Some days later, a poster circulated everywhere. The poster carries two messages directly and indirectly. The first message which is direct is, it listed the beneficiaries of the free JAMB which are roughly 200 in number. The second message is a political one where the picture of the man, Saliu Mustapha is seen with the third citizen of the federation. Does that ring a bell? After seeing the posters, most if not all the students that actually took part in the screening exercise lamented that they were not named among the selected 200 beneficiaries. This made people ask who are then these 200? Who are they? Since it is politically engineered, those 200 beneficiaries must be sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, family and friends of their fellow politicians and only negligible number of the 200 will have no political affiliation. That's just the truth if you must know. Kwarans, this is twenty first century. This is the time we actually need to wake up and wise up. Let's begin to be more reasonable and realistic. Let's refuse to be tempted by tricky politicians who take our silence for granted. Even if, accepted you have paid for their JAMB, fine. After the exam, the students secure admissions how do you expect them to pay? Or are you expecting the parents that cannot afford ordinary 6000 naira JAMB form to pay 100,000 naira entrance fee for a university? That will be next to impossible. In this wise, the JAMB money is wasted. And those students will remain where they were before. What an unhelpful help! Ok, let's do basic 2 Mathematics together. By paying for the JAMB of the 200 beneficiaries, Mr. Saliu Mustapha must have spent roughly 1.25million since JAMB form is 6200 per each. The money is not even up to 1.5million. If I were in Mr. Saliu Mustapha's shoe, I would rather pick the number of students that the money can sponsor to higher education even if the number of beneficiaries will be highly infinitesimal. This is because to help a few is by far better than to put many in further problem all in the name of helping them. And such beneficiaries in my case and their parents will be very grateful which doesn't stop my divine reward from the Greatest Being because I won't publicize it. You see, it's not until the world knows what you do before you will be appreciated. After all, the best of all favours are the quiet ones. I also have as in this case a Nigerian in diaspora as my university education sponsor and neither do I know him nor does he wants to be known. So, my fellow Kwarans, let's not be blindfolded by a political help that its gain is nothing compared to its pain. Having read this from the genesis and you are having bad impression of me, I would advise you read my first paragraph again and again. Written by: *Abdulkareem Abdulmumeen* *Tourshaw* |
