around my area farmers are growing cucumbers on rice fields now,but same cannot be when rain starts,are you even sure the area will not flood during heavy rain,if you must use the land do high ridges and study carefully the terrain for signs of previous floods,you can plant now but be ready to pack from July to September

There is this land I got recently that is close to stream but I'm having serious headache with it regarding the type of soil.

I noticed the soil is a clay soil and that it holds on water.
My fear is on the soil drainage when the rain comes since I'm not in control of rain and I'm in the south that experiences heavy downpour yearly.

I have never grown vegetables on a soil like this.
I have always had loamy and sandy soils that drains well with raised bed and have not had issues.

What is your experience growing pepper, cucumber, tomatoes, etc on a clay soil.

Drought problems made me source for a land close to water but this clay is giving greater headache now.

Please help asap with your suggestions.

Things I don't anticipate is happening, greengo seed is between 12-15k,if you see . I was in market this morning and price of cucumber was not encouraging at all,3k maximum. Please, what's the size of the plot of land? Please, i have 13 plots of land clustered in the same area, it has a seasonal stream nearby and i would really appreciate advice from you on what to plant there. I have no previous farming experience, have a very stressful and time consuming job and the land is quite far from my current location (#200 transportation fee).

If the river is seasonal, then farm only during rainy season.

Check that the land is secure against hoodlums

Also check if it's prone to herdsmen invasion.

we have planted avenir on a site that was planted cucumbers previously but was ravaged by nematodes,the nematodes problem was so bad that we barely harvested 20 bags from 3000 cucumbers,it was mid December and the temperature was high,no matter how we irrigate if the sun comes out it will wither and started turning yellow,we uprooted some and discovered massive nematode nodes on the roots,we planted avenir after two months and harvested it from April to October,if it is not resistant what do we call that.

Boss man, pepper and cucumber react to nematodes differently.

Moreover, if Avenir is resistant to nematode that would have been a big feat for Technisem and they would have listed it as number one in their avenir catalog.
