deols: awww. I really wish you'd get what you want more often.

I am an Optimist and I have a good taste in most things. I may not be so good at most things, @ first but I get there, to the zenith, most of the time. I just don't ever give up. It is a good attitude. Give it a try please.
yes, thanks for the advice, however, i think everyone has their own race to run, as such, what works for you might not necessarily work for me, etc etc.

besides, i'm of the opinion my desiring something doesnt mean its what i need. God moves in mysterious ways, and He knows better.

when did the thread become about godfatherism? You can open a separate thread to proclaim metaphysical your leader, that has NOTHING to do with the subject being discussed.

lets stick to the main issue and stop all this unnecessary aggravation.

prexios, you are the one stoking the fire here, kindly desist and stop making it so personal, geez.

seems like different persons are using your id.

is it that hard to simply stick to topic? Am I not speaking in a way that can be understood?

^ we sound like exact opposites.

I rarely get what I desire, so as soon as I desire something, I immediately remove my mind from it.

whats with all these SOS nl threads these days, people getting jittery over not seeing others on the forum.

didnt know there was so much emotional bonding here.

cant relate- if you're here, fine, if you're not, good for you.

however, not saying emotional bonding is a bad thing, of course its natural, wouldnt want to seem insensitive.

infatuation is often confused with love.

love is not limited to one.

meaning you can love in a non-romantic way.

eg i love eba, or i love fufu, likewise love can also apply to people who do not excite you romantically.

the picture tbaba posted for instance, reminiscent of people's (maybe great) grandpas and grandmas, they dont need to be hot and beautiful in order to be loved their "lovees".

i put "great" in parentheses because many grandmas and grandpas these days are indeed looking like runway models.

For Better Social Skills, Scientists Recommend a Little Chekhov

That is the conclusion of a study published Thursday in the journal Science. It found that after reading literary fiction, as opposed to popular fiction or serious nonfiction, people performed better on tests measuring empathy, social perception and emotional intelligence — skills that come in especially handy when you are trying to read someone’s body language or gauge what they might be thinking.

Reading selections in the study.

The researchers say the reason is that literary fiction often leaves more to the imagination, encouraging readers to make inferences about characters and be sensitive to emotional nuance and complexity.

“This is why I love science,” Louise Erdrich, whose novel “The Round House” was used in one of the experiments, wrote in an e-mail. The researchers, she said, “found a way to prove true the intangible benefits of literary fiction.”

The researchers, social psychologists at the New School for Social Research in New York City, recruited their subjects through that über-purveyor of reading material, Amazon.com.

Jane Austen to be face of the Bank of England £10 note

Author Jane Austen is to feature on the next £10 note, the Bank of England says, avoiding a long-term absence of women represented on banknotes.

The Pride and Prejudice author will be the next face of the note, replacing Charles Darwin, probably in 2017.

Chancellor George Osborne tweeted the move showed "sense and sensibility".

In April, the Bank prompted a high-profile campaign against the prospect of having no female characters, besides the Queen, on the UK's currency.

It had announced that Sir Winston Churchill would be put on the £5 note from 2016, replacing social reformer Elizabeth Fry.

The latest announcement means that women could be absent from newly issued banknotes for up to a year, although the Elizabeth Fry £5 note will still be in circulation.

'In the wings'
On Twitter, Mr Osborne wrote: "[Incoming Bank of England governor] Mark Carney's choice of Jane Austen as face of £10 note is great. After understandable row over lack of women, shows sense and sensibility."

Banknotes are regularly redesigned, in order to maintain security and prevent forgeries.

Denmark has six different note denominations, half of which showed famous Danish women (Karen Blixen, Anna Ancher and Johanne Luise Heiberg)
US banknotes mostly celebrate former presidents and signatories to 1776 declaration of independence, all of whom are men
The Queen appears on more denominations than anyone else - she features on currency in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK
The most recent new design from the Bank of England to enter circulation was the £50 note. This features Matthew Boulton and James Watt, who were most celebrated for bringing the steam engine into the textile manufacturing process.

The decision to replace Elizabeth Fry on the £5 note prompted protests and discussions about female representation on banknotes, but Jane Austen was thought to have already been part of the Bank's plans for the next new note.

Sir Mervyn King, in his last public appearance as governor of the Bank, said the author was "quietly waiting in the wings" to replace Darwin.

Mr Carney started discussions about female representation on banknotes on his first day in office.

Mark Carney discusses women on banknotes and in the Bank of England
The Bank said in a statement that it was "never the Bank's intention" that none of the four characters on banknotes would be a woman.

"Jane Austen certainly merits a place in the select group of historical figures to appear on our banknotes. Her novels have an enduring and universal appeal and she is recognised as one of the greatest writers in English literature," Mr Carney said.

He also announced a review of the selection process for future banknote characters. Jane Austen will be the 17th historical figure to appear on Bank of England notes. The review will be completed by the end of the year.

maclatunji: Chemistry.
having "chemistry" with someone doesnt necessarily mean a relationship is what should follow next (speaking generally here, not referencing the people you mentioned).

most people do assume otherwise, true. However, the world is in a constant state of flux.

now, to reference tbaba, it would be a bit out of character if he actually made any concession to emotion or romantic feeling in his posts here. he strenuously tries to avoid such, and consciously stays away from emotional entanglements.

same thing with lagosshia, they are more focused on getting their message across than anything else, which would be seen as a distraction from their main goal.

if not for that, they'd have been hot cakes for many ladies, irrespective of religion.
IslamRe: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by tpia5: 3:28pm On Oct 08, 2013
maclatunji: You see, even when you are fighting, you still find a way to make things work. That is what chemistry is all about.

I think I deserve a PhD. in Chemistry already. grin grin grin
in your picture, they can both huddle under the umbrella, no need for the man to catch cold and fall sick in the name of love or chemistry.

they can also go find a dry place instead of staying put on the bench,

just saying.

the real test of chemistry, or love, is when you are fighting and things are not working, and your partner looks like, or is acting like the kind of person you normally avoid (ie, the type of person you'd never be with in a million years).. Thats when the chemistry flies out the window and you're left with what you, as a person, decide.

i think you are too sensitive, you need to stop getting so agitated over minor issues.

this is nairaland, if your views do not hold up to criticism then maybe you shouldnt post on topics you do not feel you have a grasp of, just saying.

you should be able to consistently and politely defend your contributions to a topic (as long as that's the context), if you cant then you shouldnt dabble into matters thinking a godfather should have your back.

if, however, you cant hold up in the face of scrutiny, then there are other sections where you could amuse yourself with mostly pointless chitchat, eg romance section, entertainment, etc.

Let the priests, who minister before the Lord,

Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn,

Why should they say among the peoples,
