jidegirl12: Please for the love of Great God , don't fall for that, it's a blatant coc.k b.ull of FAT LIES..... I know DL members and they are all thesame. No perm, rarely watch TV and so on.

Just yall dont know.....There are also churches that are copyright of these big churches, that don't answer to the headquarters and they do their own thing.

Some DLers just arrived from Nigeria months ago and I met the mom, she outrightly barbed her hair low cut cos of our weather and difficulty to comb her hair. Nothing concern me, but don't cook lies for cheap justification for glaring Hypocricy!!!

FamilyRe: Does this Make Children bad? by tpia5: 9:17pm On Jun 21, 2013
as per kids being "spoilt", that depends on your context.

and where home training comes in.
FamilyRe: Does this Make Children bad? by tpia5:
personally, i think you should have the kids first before worrying about how to raise them, but at the same time, there's nothing wrong with setting goals (same can be adjusted as necessary in future since you dont make kids by yourself).

your thread title and subsequent post started off on the wrong footing, you sound like people who see things in either black or white, ie good or bad with no in between. One dimensional thinking.

deols: I have plans of 'spoiling' my Children.

I just want them to have everything they want.
No one would be allowed to beat, bully, shout at or hurt them. Do these make them bad people?
why should you think its normal for another person to beat, bully, shout at or hurt your kids?

how does not allowing demented characters to abuse/insult your kids, amount to the kids being "bad people"? huh

if you dont take that kind of crap for your own self, why are you wondering if its ok for your kids? huh

unless you did not raise your kids well, this is not a normal mindset. And even assuming the kids werent raised well, still no excuse for every foul buffoon to dump their life frustrations on them.

I think all of these define being a good mother.
these define being human.

parenting is much more.

Do you think differently? I want honest opinion please?
i wonder if you were able to glean something?

FamilyRe: Does this Make Children bad? by tpia5: 3:13pm On Jun 21, 2013
^ its up to you what limits you want to set for your children.

there is no universal standard, so you should not set your time by other people's clocks.

you can give or deny them whatever you feel like, that's between you and them.

home training is paramount because that's where the difference is and that's a better legacy for the child.

"come and tell me what to do with my kids" is a sign of laziness and maybe deeper problems, imo. A woman should not be proud to say such in public, doesnt speak well.

why doesnt he just go to a church where drinking is not frowned at?
CultureRe: Yoruba Origin Revisited by tpia5: 2:58pm On Jun 21, 2013
This idea that Bello and Clapperton were the first recorders must be squashed and thrashed in the dustbin. White explorers pushed into Africa from two directions: 1. From the sea; 2. From the desert.

Yoruba political and spiritual capitals were both hinterland and European contact with them occured very late relative to other Empires of the Sudan that explorers like Clapperton visited. Few things are noteworthy in the exchange between Bello and Clapperton :
hugh and clapperton were some of the explorers who opened up the african interior to modern european scrutiny.

the foundations of modern europe were being laid back then, and these accounts were putting tribes on the global map.

true, it also had a negative impact on africans, but how do you think people [africans] would have fared if they werent able to interact at a global level?

foxxi4real: Obalufon is probably one of the slaves that were taken by the Alimi (fulanis), so he doesn't know where he is from but just trying to apply an unapplyable empirical formula to pin himself as Yoruba. He most probably is from Yobe or Zungeru
its good you're exercising your imagination, nothing wrong with that.

FamilyRe: Does this Make Children bad? by tpia5: 2:13pm On Jun 21, 2013
someone was pointing out elsewhere, that a person who doesnt have the same type of father as another person, will feel bad whenever others are interacting with their own fathers, if their relationship with their dad isnt exactly the same as her or his own [ie the primary person being discussed].

my response was everybody is not the same, i see no reason why people should make themselves miserable simply because others dont have their identical family history and dynamics.

likewise, as per topic, if you are not committing armed robbery in order to keep up with the joneses, how you decide to raise your child is up to you.

most nlers here do not seem to have been taught the basics of home training, or maybe they were taught but it didnt sink in.

I think home training should be the primary asset given to a child regardless of the parents financial status.
