Why cant those borders be monitored?

Nigerians are too resistant to civil society, yet when they go overseas, they hail the structured societies there to the high heavens.

dc555: The forces behind Asari are the same forces
behind Boko Haram. Dont be deceived, What is going on now is called PURGING. Northern Nigeria is being purged of its indigenous Christians so that when the Jihadists invade from Chad, there will be no resistance. Asari is doing their bidding in the South. He will betray the IJAW people at the end. ASARI DOKUBO IS NOT A COSMETIC MUSLIM.
imagine the deception people are trying to pull here.

cosmetic muslim indeed.

i do not know if he's betraying ijaw people or not [they do have muslims among them], but anyone who says the man isnt a serious muslim, is just a plain deceiver.

Le Ostrich: asari got funded by the Wahhabi to turn down oil production in Nigeria (the 6th largest oil producer). This happened when it wasn't clear what action Bush would take after 9-11 and after Chavez took power and Nationalized the venezeulan oil industry.
Asari is a cosmetic muslim. I have met him severally here in Abuja and shared a drink once.

Go figure.
i seriously doubt he's a cosmetic muslim.

even his wives look very militantly Islamic.

lets wait and see if that man doesnt have an assignment to Islamize the south south.

siddiq202: I have nothing whatsoever against private Muslim schools. You just have to know that public schools should be for everybody and also, not everybody can afford to pay the bills. Nobody wishes to send his/her ward(s) to the current public schools we have if they are financially buoyant.
if you cant afford to attend a private muslim school, then learn to accept the inconveniences that come with being with people of different backgrounds, in a public arena.

one of those inconveniences [for you] is being tolerant of others and respecting their decision to accommodate you by not also wearing what they feel like.

now, would you be comfortable sitting in class and somebody's wrapper which she is wearing, needs to be retied, and she gives you a full view of her chest area while doing so.

will that infuriate you or what. But she also has a right to wear her traditional clothing, does she not.

let me know your opinion, thanks.

siddiq202: Until you realize that hijab is not just a piece of cloth for a particular place/time/people but a religious obligatory for all Muslims (except the old). Replying you will be a waste of time.
What exactly is your grouse with private muslim schools?

Why do you not want muslim students to attend them?

siddiq202: Shebi na democracy we dey use for Nigeria? Let's wait and see what the court judgment will be
That is all!

I think the problem with many of you is you are so used to getting everything you ask for, that you take it as a personal affront and grow violent when you dont get your instant gratification.

For those of us who werent raised like that, ie who had to make do with little and who didnt experience bonanza everytime, we dont expect to get things all the time just by snapping our fingers and saying abracadabra.

Not saying there's anything wrong with having others defer to you all the time, but occasionally it gets jarring when you keep reminding people like me i am less important than you and my own needs and wants should continue to take a back seat while you keep on jiving and cruising everywhere!

siddiq202: @bold You are right.

We are talking about PUBLIC schools for crying out loud! Are Muslims taxes not among the money used to pay the teachers huh. Or are you saying that Muslims are not entitle to government facilities huh Don't you get it that not wearing hijab means that they are disobeying their Lord huh
According to boko haram, typing on a computer means you are disobeying your lord.

So why do you still do it?

And are traditionalists and christians also not paying taxes?

siddiq202: Because public schools in Lagos are for all Lagosians including Muslims!!!
this is the same problem which is escalating in nasarawa.

what exactly is so difficult about following the school regulations concerning uniforms?

why must you create separate rules for yourself?

and these lagos public schools in question, were appropriated from church missions. Let them return these schools and everyone will be happy.

i dont see anything to get excited or worked up about!!!!!

christians are the ones who should be complaining over the govt taking their schools after they built them.

and may i ask you if there have been no muslims in lagos schools before now. Why is the issue suddenly a priority at this particular point in time? Because boko haram is fighting for an Islamic republic in the north, to later be extended to the south?
This girl is very stupid for broadcasting everything about herself. SMH. For those that are unaware, she is actually Nigeria. An Hausa I think and the chick goes to Nigeria. She even did that nollywood movie once about american passport or something like that. I heard she stays in Lagos most times during her visit. Hearing that her dad is an iman and disapproves of her career, it explains so much why a girl wouldn't go back to her people to visit after being gone so long. Anyway now that she let it all out, I pray she'll still be safe in any place in Nigeria whenever she visit. In my opinion, announcing everything was a dumb idea especially since you came from a country that's very intolerant (at least in terms of the religion she comes from).

Oh well Goodluck Maryam.
oh, i thought she was AA.

well, according to this link:

http://observer.com/2013/03/muslim-bikini-model-maryam-basir-enjoys-her-moment/

she's the only muslim bikini model in the business for now.

since it would be really difficult to get into hollywood without being ready to show skin, i guess she may receive some kind of special forgiveness/indulgence since she might be opening opportunities for other muslim women i suppose.

her being hausa (if she is) may be significant because amina in ANTM was muslim, but yoruba. Not aware of too many openly hausa females in hollywood, there's a guy from middle belt i think, dont know about women.

although iman is also muslim to the best of my knowledge.

Politics › Re: Lagos Rejects Hijab In Public Schools by tpia5: 1:49pm On May 16, 2013
Teachers arent allowed to wear buba and wrapper while teaching.

Why is that? We were told its because when retying wrapper, the undies can be visible. Or if the wrapper accidentally unties itself, same thing.

So, if native attire was banned in schools even though its our culture, i dont see why we cant all inconvenience ourselves and stick to the required school uniform.

Any other form of dressing can be done after school hours, imo.

If students are allowed to wear whatever they feel like, then lets remember proper traditional dressing for girls is wrapper with no blouse. Would we like the sight of young girls with wrappers accidentally falling off their breasts in class or during assembly. No doubt some would but will it not negate what is supposed to be the benefits of hijab in public schools.
