Princek12:i doubt there's any such thing as ekiti yam. the yams eaten across the southwest are generally the same species [plural]. the main difference is the level of consumption. |
lagcity:^^i think igbos eat cassava almost as much as, or more than yam. but in yorubaland, pounded yam takes priority especially in ekiti and ondo states. amala takes priority in others. igbos generally do not eat amala. so i think we can safely say the level of yam consumption is higher among yorubas because they consume yams in a variety of ways, whereas igbos supplement their yam consumption with cassava. Not sure which commodity is consumed more in the east- yam or cassava. yorubas, on the other hand, regard eba as generally lower than cassava and amala, a sort of "poor man's food", so to speak. And i believe eba is a fairly recent addition to the local cuisine anyway. Like less than 40 years old or so, though i'm not sure. the mode of preparing the yams could also be a factor in the chemical or hormones released. Amala undergoes an intense heating process which probably denatures something somewhere- i havent studied this in detail yet. pounding the yam could also break something down. personally, i'm more curious about what seems to be the high incidence of males in yorubaland, than the twin thingy. Maybe because i'm not really surprised by the twin findings. |
he can collect the money but it's better if he goes there with someone he trusts and who speaks english, who can monitor the transaction. either way, it's a tough situation. |

lagcity:igbos eat a lot of yam and also cassava [as fufu and some other things]. I think they eat fufu more than pounded yam. yorubas dont eat fufu or cassava as much as other areas. Cassava is mainly drunk as garri, or made into eba, but the places under discussion [ekiti especially] are known for pounded yam. not sure what they eat in igbo ora but my guess would be amala, though i could be wrong. ewedu might have been ruled out because it's not typically eaten with poundo. |
poster the onus is on you. go ahead. |
lagcity:it could be a combination of both factors, though yorubas might eat yam more, who knows. pounded yam, cooked yam, asaro, amala, etc. |
Name them pls. I have not been fortunate to see one.
i think fiji or somewhere around that area. their yams seem to be bigger than africa's own. though west africa is the heaviest producer of yams. |
^^some other places produce yam besides west africa. there was a thread about this some years ago. imo, nigerian yams are better than most of the other countries' own. At least the ones i've tasted. |
congrats to ayoola and can we also have stories of nigerian trained pilots. i'd like to hear what their experiences were. |
Women do marry @ 30+. Plenty of them, as a matter of fact. And to bachelors, not married men. the only thing is the pool of "eligible" men dwindles as you grow older, and you dont have as many choices as when you were in your 20s. western or foreign women might not have this problem so much because the ones who are open to dating outside their ethnicities, would still be sought after by men for various reasons [eg the exotic factor, financial or immigration assistance, etc. I'm not saying any of this precludes love however. Just that it predisposes the man towards them]. Men here meaning the ones foreign to their culture or nationality. so, they may be better placed regardless of age. a nigerian woman, on the other hand, has to plan carefully if the men are looking for something she doesnt offer [eg travel assistance, exotic factor, etc]. And as such, be rather mindful of age. Especially nowadays when everyone wants to travel. just my two cents. of course the woman in the original post didnt plan on being dumped by her boyfriend @ 29, but she should still try to think outside the box even if it doesnt seem easy. and never underestimate the power of prayer. |
Engineered nothing wrong with yams. Nigerian yams in particular are top of the line. Very tasty. |
Speaking of footballers, you guys won't believe what is going on in Lagos right now. You know a lot of 'dem foreign football players are in town? Oh boy, some Lagos babes are not smilin' at all at all, lol. Sometimes I wish I was an anonymous blogger, the kind of things you people will be reading/seeing on this blog eh, but people know me, so I gotta be careful. There's a Kanu Testimonial pre-match party taking place tonight at Okocha's Club 10 and there's a gala night at Eko Hotel tomorrow evening (a table of ten is N500,000) and the scramble to be at this two venues by some babes? oh dear, as in, it has turned to world war 3, lolIts called being a groupie and is something celebrities have to cope with. Most of them dont say they mind though. |

too sad. Lord have mercy. Sources said the girl had been dating the boy for over two years.http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/8504-jilted-lover-commits-suicide-in-akure.html she should have also allowed him to catch her with another man. what's good for the goose ought to be good for the gander. or better still, dump his wayward azz. but the matter still needs to be investigated though. |
They can make their Aeroplane from banana peals, melon peals etc. It is rampant in the South my brother. Again, these planes are invisible to the ORDINARY eyesof course the planes cant be visible to ordinary eyes and all the doubters. people need Jesus. |
